French Truck Coffee Is Opening a Fourth NOLA Location - Eater New Orleans

"Not to be overshadowed by the news of the opening, French Truck’s other locations — on Magazine, Dryades and Chartres Streets — are serving a special drink for the months of August and September." - Alison Baitz

Where to Find Great Coffee in New Orleans - AFAR

"A small-batch New Orleans roaster with six local locations that leans into the city's charm—one outpost occupies a 100-year-old double shotgun house with rocking chairs, and an uptown Dryades Street location sits in a canary-yellow 1900s home with a full kitchen. The all-day breakfast program includes a maple syrup–drizzled waffle sandwich with smoked ham, cheddar, and scrambled egg that pairs with single-origin drip coffees from Colombia, Nicaragua, Brazil, and Ethiopia. The operation emphasizes careful sourcing and tasting, hosts regular cuppings, and projects a passionate, highbrow coffee culture focused on revealing tasting notes like green grape, cacao, pineapple, tobacco, and leather." - Alex Schechter

Google
French Truck Coffee offers an exceptional drip coffee experience. Their single-origin pour-overs highlight the unique flavors of each bean. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff make it a must-visit spot for coffee enthusiasts.

Google
French truck coffee was very unique experience. The staff was very friendly when ordering and also for water service. The caramel cappuccino we got was good, not great. Not my girlfriend’s favorite, since she is more of a decaf coffee person. The ambiance and atmosphere was super nice. Lots of dogs too.

Google
Very nutty and smooth coffee. One of the best coffees I had recently. I got their latte with hazelnut syrup. You get other breakfast options like frozen yogurt, bagel and sandwiches. You also get their coffee by the pound. You get vegan and vegetarian options here.

Google
The decorum was nice & clean. The coffee was okay well. I got the a large iced Oji coffee ($5.35), which is similar to a cold brew. Honestly nothing too special, but decent. The only thing I didn't like was the service. The young lady who got my order looked like she didn't even wanna be there. She didn't even say hello, which isn't that hard. I get that it's early in the morning, but at least try to be a little nice. If it wasn't for that, the rating would've been higher. Overall, the ambiance is pretty chill and coffee was decent, but service is the only downside.

Google
Great place for coffee and breakfast. We visited 2 days in a row over our weekend trip to NOLA. Highly recommend the avocado toast and the New Orleans iced coffee. Good options for indoor and outdoor seatings

Google
We’ve had breakfast here two days in a row. The croissant sandwich, the waffle sandwich, and the biscuit sandwich are all excellent. Good coffee, good donuts, nice outside seating area. Love it. 10/10, would go back again.

Google
The location is very nice, and well stocked on merchandise and product. When we ordered the girl did not know what was meant when we asked for an extra shot of espresso in our drinks - and charged for the shots without adding them to the drinks (I suspect she thought we meant pumps of mocha syrup as the drinks tasted like chocolate milk rather than the slightly bitter taste I expect). While we waited for our order the music set to play in the main area was strange and out of place for a coffee shop. When our order was handed to us one of the drinks had a huge chunk of clumped ice sticking out the top causing a spill, for which there were no napkins to help clean with. The French Truck location at 1200 Magazine is 200% better - I passionately love French Truck, just was heavily disappointed with this specific location.

Google
Cool and hip place to spend your NOLA morning. We stopped by for a cup of coffee and a small bite. My Cafe au lait was good, the snack I took was something like a light muffin with a pastry sheet ( not sure), and bacon. It was very less oily, light and tasty. I am sure, the other munchies are also worth for trying.

Yelp
Best coffee in New Orleans served in pleasant settings. Love the NOLA cold brew almost makes summer bearable.

Yelp
Came here on a Monday morning, there were a few other folks hanging around but plenty of open tables. If I had to describe my ideal level of coffee shop busy, this would probably be it. I had a few friends recommend the NOLA style coffee from here a unique experience a coffee lover should absolutely seek out. I'd had chicory flavored coffee before, but this seemed different enough to make it worth a visit. The staff was quite friendly, the Japanese style cold brew caught my eye and one of the employees gave me a thorough explanation as to how it differed from traditional cold brew. I asked if the nola style iced coffee could come without ice, since it was a cold brew. They said it could, but when I asked for it that way they still served it with ice. As for the flavor I was pretty surprised at how light the chicory came across. It's possible the chicory flavored coffee I tried before was way too strong and messed up my palate for it, but my main flavor takeaway was a fairly watered down and sweetened cold brew. If you've never had anything chicory flavored and enjoy your cold brew on the sweeter side perhaps it'll be more up your ally, but overall I think this spot is skippable on a trip to New Orleans.

Yelp
We came here twice during our vacation in New Orleans, it's just the cutest little spot. Their menu has a decent amount of variety but isn't too big, both says I tried a version of their iced coffee and I preferred the iced oji over the New Orleans style, but I liked both. I also had a build your own biscuit both visits, mixing it up each time. We sat on the patio which was nice especially considering the weather was cooperative. Service was good - note that you have to grab your drinks at the bar inside and they'll bring food out to you when it's ready.

Yelp
This is the cutest yellow house with the nicest side yard and four rocking chairs in front. I am sure that if you get regular coffee everything is fine. Our two espresso's though and one cortado were absolutely undrinkable. Bitter. Nasty. I went in to see if they could add some milk to my cortado because it was so bad (of course i didnt say that though i probably should have) but the guy poured COLD milk in my hot cortado. Basically he added insult to injury. I walked away quite shocked but didn't have the heart to tell them that our three espresso drinks had just been thrown away because they were so bad. What a huge disappointment. Also, they have no sugar packets to take outside and they were outraged that a 76y old asked to have some sugar in a cup or lid to take outside and the response was rude. Get some manners and learn how to make edible espresso please.

Yelp
The Ice coffee was really good, but the cafe Au Lait was NOT good at all, I ordered hot with vanilla flavor, and it didn't taste good, it tasted like burned, it was bad!! So sad about that, I was really hoping for something better.
google avatar

Philip L.

Yelp
Bright and pleasant, they have their own branded coffee mugs and roasted coffee beans. With the yellow theme and big glass windows it is cheerful. The location on Magazine St. has fewer food options than the larger store, basically limited to pastries. The light roasted Guatemalan drip coffee was surprisingly good, as I usually prefer dark roast. Would definitely go back.
google avatar

Yelp
Quick and convenient albeit pricey ($14 for two lattes). Easy street parking. Oat milk available. Indoor and outdoor seating.
google avatar

Jorge R.

Yelp
Idk what they put into their coffee to make it so good but it has me coming back a lot. I believe this is their only location with a kitchen? Or like that serves full meals but I have to say they're sandwiches are great! They even accommodated me with my gluten allergy They have some gluten free bread options that tasted like real bread

Amy H.

Yelp
Easily the best breakfast sandwich I've ever had. The scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked and the honey butter was the BEST addition. Coffee was excellent, too! There were so many great items on the menu. Highly recommend giving this quaint coffee spot a try!

Yelp
I have to admit that I am very disappointed with this coffee shop. After purchasing my high priced coffee, I went in search of outlets so I could finish some work and charge my laptop, but saw that there were NONE! The fact that a coffee shop had no outlets shocked me.. a coffee shop with no outlets! Ugh, I hate wasting bad money.

Yelp
Great coffee and the waffle egg breakfast sandwich is the best thing ever. I highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Sublime one of best iced coffee I have ever had, combine that with the egg and cheese on croissant sandwich and you have a home run.

Yelp
I always recommend French Truck to folks. It is a solid place with good coffee and food and a great atmosphere, what more could you want. Their outdoor seating is fantastic and the best on a beautiful day. The service is always great and fast. They are also very good about social distancing.

Yelp
What a great gem! Interesting coffee selection (try their famous New Orleans) and the waffle sandwich had all my favorites - goat cheese, prosciutto

Yelp
They understand the assignment all the time! This location uptown is cute, quaint, and quiet. It's like a portrait that is still and is placed just right. No formal parking lot but plenty along the street. It's in such a beautiful area of the city. After my Sunday scaries, this is where I go to gain my strength and put my head on straight. Beware the crowds get big and it is a tight squeeze when they're busy. This time i ordered salmon toast, waffle sandwich, espresso, NOLA coffee, split something tea and ice coffee. The salmon toast and waffle sandwich Great choices and super filling!! The tea is REALLY REALLY GOOD!! I keep coming back for more. The espresso and NOLA coffee gives you the wack you need to get your life together everytime and never fails me. Usually after this brekky my day can get started. 10/10 love it.

Yelp
Best coffee in the city! I usually take my cream and sugar with coffee if you get my drift, but one day at breakfast with my dad he ordered a cup of French truck black. I gave it a taste and was blown away because it didn't need anything! Roasty toasty goodness without the acid or bitterness most cups will give you. Been a fan ever since and often brew or gift, the coq au rouge blend for friends and family. I had a thank you gift to send and being near the uptown location on dryades I stopped in for a bag of my favorite blend, get it ground and grab a cool refreshing beverage in the process. The cashier was friendly and super engaging, and the barista answered some questions for me that I had been brewing over for awhile. The perfect pick me up on this afternoon between appointments!

Yelp
Bright, pleasant, relaxing, delicious. Refreshing. Slight mistake on the part of the staff but we're so sweet we didn't mind.

Yelp
Coffee is fine. People kinda rude. Coffee places everywhere and a $5 cup for medium Americano is ridiculous with poor service. I'm from out of town clearly not sure about the flow. You're right by a hospital. Let's do better.

Yelp
i love french truck. especially this location, because it holds a special place in my heart. in high school this was my frequented coffee shop with my friends. the coffee and other things are great, like any other french truck location. service is great, all the workers are so kind. but today i went to study here, because i find the coffee shop environment to be helpful. i expected this french truck to be like the others. while my drink came out promptly, i began to take out my study materials, to find that the guest wifi wasn't working. at all! that's fine, i suppose. everyone has bad days, but this happened the last time i was here too. the next thing i noticed was my laptop on 10%. no problem, right? there's always an outlet in a coffee shop. to my dismay, absolutely not. it seems any outlet that had been there had been painted over, and there was absolutely no site where i could charge my electronic. while i understand no coffee shop is required by any means to provide these things, i have to knock a few stars. because i have bought my expensive coffee, expecting to have a place to study and get work done, but alas! i am out $7 with no place to complete my work. it was just overall inconvenient. come here for coffee and leave, is what i think they intend when not having things like wifi and outlets.

Yelp
Always a great place to grab a perfect iced coffee and quick breakfast in Uptown NOLA!

Yelp
Decided to try out this place after seeing the very bright yellow and blue signage. Stopped there on Sunday morning for breakfast and believe me you can't miss this place. It's a bright yellow house! There is indoor and outdoor seating. I loved the cute rocking chairs upfront. You order at the counter, they give you a number for the table and bring your food out when it's ready. ( you have to collect your own coffees at the counter). It wasn't busy at all and we ordered very quickly. I had a cappuccino ( they don't do fat free milk. They only had whole milk) and a biscuit with egg, cheese and Avo. The Avo was a substitution for the meat I declined. This is great! I live that they do substitutions at no extra charge. Hubby had the waffles and a cappuccino. The biscuit came out warm! With a side of strawberries. The biscuit was light and fluffy and the egg done perfectly. The Avo was fresh. Overall the meal was awesome! It's a small portion, but a perfect size for me. If you're a big eater then maybe get two. The waffles came with Greek yogurt, sliced apples and strawberry. The waffles were light and perfectly crisp on the outside. The fruit was fresh and yogurt delicious. The coffee was omg amazing!!! So Much so that while we were walking on magazine street I bought another one at the magazine street location. I will definitely be back to try some of their other breakfast and lunch options.

Yelp
I have been drinking French Truck Coffee for years. When I first tried them out, I was beginning my journey of exploring the many different coffee spots we have here in New Orleans. I was always impressed so I would always make my way to one if I had a coffee craving. I went to this location with my girlfriend this morning for the first time. I wanted to change up my usual order today, so I asked the barista for some recommendations. He was very enthusiastic about his recommendations, you could not be so easily motivated by his words and excitement! We both ordered Oji Iced Coffees and an Avocado Toast. Even though the place was busy with coffee-thirsty customers, the coffee and toast came out in a reasonable amount of time. The staff were accommodating and the location is nicely tucked in the neighborhood. There was plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy our delicious coffee and avocado toast. I would recommend this place to everyone!
google avatar

Yelp
We sampled five different dishes including the waffles, yogurt and granola, the avocado toast, the strawberry and balsamic reduction toast, the bacon, egg, and cheese pressed biscuit, and the panini. The standout flavors were the yogurt and granola because the freshness of ingredients including the yogurt itself, honey, and choice of granola. The next being the whipped cream on the waffles which was a proper French whip, not like you normally find in the US with lots of added sugar. Lastly, the balsamic reduction on the toast with the strawberries were a nice compliment to the avocado toast. Really good stuff. This is definitely a place you should check out if you are in the area.

Nichole K.

Yelp
Quality of food, wait time, staff, ambiance, menu options - it's all here. And it's all delicious!

Tia Rose T.

Yelp
This quaint little spot makes an amazing sandwich. The ingredients are undeniably fresh and the staff friendly. I will definitely be back! ‍

Yelp
I like this coffee shop because they are dog-friendly! You can bring your best friend inside while you get your coffee which makes it very convenient for me when I'm walking my dog. The coffee itself is all very good, and there are also baked goods though I've never gotten them myself. There is also a nice outdoor sitting area and patio if you want to meet someone to have a coffee outside.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm not one to drink coffee or go to a coffee shop just for coffee but for me to order an iced coffee, means this place is really good. We only found this place because we had their coffee at a local restaurant. When we got there (we used Lyft), we noticed there wasn't a parking lot. So just be aware that you park on the street. They have rocking chairs at the front entrance where you can sit at as well. When you enter, there's a few chairs and tables inside. It's really cute inside, too - great vibes. The counter that you order is in the middle of the whole shop. The menu is simple, the staff is friendly, the cost of the drinks are fair. You can also purchase some beans and food from them. Their food menu is available on their website. Since it was a nice day, we sat outside with our coffee. There's plenty of outdoor seating. In any case, I just ordered the hazelnut iced latte. It was smooth and not bitter at all. My friends also enjoyed their drinks. We all agreed that their coffee is great. It was also very relaxing at this location and you can definitely do some homework or just work here if you like. Anyhow, we enjoyed our coffee so much that some of us bought packages of beans for our trip back home. If we are ever around New Orleans again, we would definitely stop by this coffee shop and maybe try out their food as well.

Angela M.

Yelp
Waffle sandwich as great and avocado toast was good - amazing fruit. Can sit down and be served or order at counter and sit. Great outside patio. Small issue with our order which was fixed immediately and customer service was great.
google avatar

Fabrizi O.

Yelp
I appreciate the relaxed atmosphere here, as well as the endless string of yoga pants wearing clientele who drift in and out with their tiny dogs on a leash throughout the morning. Not a whole lot of variety among the people who patronize this place, but that is more of a testament to the surrounding neighborhood then anything else. I like the outdoor seating most of all because it affords you some cover from the invariable light rain that seems to strike every weekend.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
Such a cute place for coffee and breakfast. The New Orleans iced coffees were soooo good, as was the food. We ordered the waffle sandwich and build your own biscuit with bacon, and really enjoyed the flavor of both. The honey butter on the biscuit was a tasty touch.

Josh Y.

Yelp
Great coffee and branding. We liked the sparkling water that allowed us to properly taste the coffee.
google avatar

Alessandra E.

Yelp
Some coworkers and I sought a place to work remotely on a Friday, and we cane here on the recommendation of a friend that's been living in New Orleans for a few years. Let me just say that I am so glad she made that recommendation. What a great cafe to start our trip. I ordered the New Orleans iced coffee based off the recommendations here, and, as a strictly latte drinker, I'm now obsessed with New Orleans iced coffee, especially that of French Truck. I also ordered the pimento toast - amazing and delicious, definitely recommend! French Truck might just be a place I always have to visit when I'm in town.
google avatar

Andres G.

Yelp
My favorite place to stop by for a simple bite to eat or coffee on the go! They have a variety of food options for everyone but my usual is the Grilled Cheese. French truck will change up the fruit in it depending on the season, currently it's a strawberry compost. My favorite so far has been it with pear slices. The sandwich is paired with chips but if you pay a few dollars more you can get a cup of soup, if they have the tomato basil do it, you won't regret it! I'll pair my meal with an iced black coffee, fun fact they house their own coffee grounds and have seasonal flavors too. If you ever want to do some work too, this location has space to do work or study. The staff are great too and super helpful when ordering if you're undecided. I welcome anyone to check them out and you will become a fan!
google avatar

Matt B.

Yelp
My favorite place to go in NOLA. Love the quick bites and the coffee is the best. I try to buy a bag when I go. Great place to grab a quick breakfast and a great coffee drink.
google avatar

Amanda L.

Yelp
Y'all doing the most. Just stop and take my money. The NOLA is my fav!! The food, all is it is great! I've never drank so much coffee in one day till I came here!

Yelp
It looks like the process should be simple, but somehow it is not. After ordering you are left to watch all the baristas do their thing- however the online orders crank out faster than the actual in house orders. There was one person waiting for her food and coffee when we ordered. The place filled quickly and other ppl moved through place orders and picking up food and coffee. My friend went to the counter to ask about her croissant. "It's coming ", but with 2 cooks in the kitchen, it really was not coming at all. I mean toss it in the microwave and get us on our way already. More ppl came and went, my friend got in line for the 3rd time. Food came out of the window, just not ours. A gentleman agreed to give her money back and he apologized. While my friend explained that she was still waiting a third person went to the kitchen and returned with the croissant. Seriously, the system is flawed.

Allie L.

Yelp
Pretty Mediocre. Was charged $1.00 for asking for light ice. At that point I should just get a cup size bigger. Watched the cooks in the back touch the food and even eat some before handing it out. Only 1 hr of free wifi and pretty hot inside the building.

Yelp
New year, new people, new places. First and foremost I am not a coffee drinker so please continue to the next review if that's what you want to know about. However, I am all about breakfast and beautifully design spaces, French Truck has both. The first thing you will notice is the front porch and its rocking chairs but more on that in a second. Step in and enjoy the big open space, wonderful lighting, simple decor and the smell of freshly brew coffee. The menu is direct and to the point, I had the freshly squeezed orange juice and avocado toast. Both were delicious, I only wish the orange juice came in a bigger size. Once you have your order step outside and enjoy the rocking chairs the porch is great for relaxing as you catch up with friends or simply watch the world go by. Will return to try the pastries that looked amazing and maybe one day the coffee ;-)

Jim P.

Yelp
Coffee (latte) was good, but lack of low-fat milk option detracts from the experience, as did the croissant, which was awful; tasted day-old frozen. You can probably pull a better one from a dumpster.
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
Let me start this review by saying that I have a serious coffee addiction. The New Orleans iced coffee is the best iced coffee I have ever had. Seriously. I now live in New York and crave this coffee all the time. Every time I visit New Orleans, I go at least once- if not once every day that I am there. Plus, my family typically goes every Saturday with our Great Dane. Everyone that works there is so sweet! The location is great, and the building itself is so cute. Aside from the iced coffee, you can't go wrong with the food. In my picture below, I got the avocado toast and then the strawberry & goat cheese toast.
google avatar

Grant H.

Yelp
Stylish little neighborhood coffee shop. They give you three roast options for pour-overs which is a nice touch depending on what spectrum of coffee you like. If I lived in NOLA this would likely be in my coffee rotation.
google avatar

Jannifer K.

Yelp
I came here over the weekend when I was visiting NOLA and this place definitely gets a 10 for cuteness. The interior decor is like a retro light house and the outside of the house looks like it belongs on the front cover of a classic All American magazine. I ordered a goat cheese salad with a thick vinaigrette and it was delicious - light, refreshing, and flavorful. The only thing that I wish they had is a bit more variety for Cajun food. It was my first trip to NOLA so of course I was hoping to get the most out of traditional southern food, but it was still a great visit and I would give them an 8.5/ 10. It's definitely a place worth checking out.
google avatar

Jordan W.

Yelp
Charming coffee shop in NOLA! I've only been to this location, but they do have multiple. Indoor and outdoor seating options, rocking chairs on the porch. If you're into coffee, this place is worth trying. From pour overs to tea options, it covers it all. There is a full food menu for breakfast and lunch, and I highly recommend their toasts. There are baked items that you can get quickly if you don't have time to wait for a toast to be made or something just need to grab and go. The bread I got most recently seemed to be the end pieces and it was a bit tough, although still good in taste - hence the star rating choice. Sometimes hard to get seating indoors, so if you want a table, get there earlier or just be a bit patient.
google avatar

Lisa M.

Yelp
Came this morning for GF waffle sandwich but was out of GF waffles. Owner was able to reach out and help us after we had some issues which shows a great commitment and dedication to his business. Incase you are GF and they are ever out of GF waffles, you can substitute the GF waffles for gluten free bread which was really good. You can't get decaf for the espresso based drinks but I was able to get decaf iced coffee with non dairy milk (almond/coconut). Great location and outdoor space. We will definitely return in the future for the hubby to try the waffles

Yelp
French Truck Coffee is the quintessential all purpose coffee stop. They have small bites and prepared meals to order, along with all the classic coffee drinks and even more. They also roast their own coffee, so patrons will get to taste their signature style. Pour over style available, and Dutch tower dripper for cold brew. They basically have all the essentials a good coffee shop could have. For a small morning meal I had a pressed ham, egg, and cheese croissant sandwich that I paired with a great cortado. The sandwich definitely surpassed my expectations for how good it was. My girlfriend and I also shared an avocado toast and a bacon date toast, which was decent but not as good as the sandwich. French Truck is a New Orleans coffee purveyor, with a few locations spread throughout the city. They do coffee well, making it a recommendable coffee stop if you find yourself in town. I visited this specific location because it has a homey vibe, as can be seen from the house turned shop concept. Verily similar to having coffee at home with friends or family, and that gives it tremendous charm. Another cool thing about shops like this one is that they usually have merch for sale, and that's always cool for souvenir purposes - I wish I had bought something. Overall, it made for an delightful Sunday morning coffee stop.
google avatar

Alexis G.

Yelp
Good vibe, good food, good coffee. Can't go wrong with iced coffee! Regular iced coffee, chai latte, and iced caramel latte. MUST GET THEIR TOASTS. We got the avocado, maple bacon, and strawberry balsamic mint. All of which were so good! One less star because the waffle sandwich was so thin. Definitely a cool hang out spot to get work done and get your coffee fix!

Yelp
French Truck Coffee on Dryades was my first stop upon arrival in New Orleans, and it definitely set a fantastic first impression of the chicory-blended coffee in NOLA! Loved the roasted taste it added - especially when it's paired with milk it's perrrrfect. I basically took the ingredients from their croissant sandwich (bacon, egg, cheddar, tomato jam) and made a waffle sandwich out of 'em instead. They were very accommodating of adjustments, which was nice. The waffle sandwich hit all the right sweet-savory spots, and the maple syrup was very literally the icing on top. My friends and I got there at around 7:30/7:40 AM and there were only a couple of people there, but when 8 AM rolled around so did a lot more customers. Regardless the line goes fast and you won't have to wait long at all for your order. It's super cute in the Dryades location, loved the strings of lights on the inside! Only downside was that while they had good wifi, we couldn't find any outlets (which we needed as we planned to work online there for several hours). Anyway highly recommend, make sure you get the NOLA iced coffee!!
google avatar

Tammie W.

Yelp
A very cute and popular New Orleans coffee chain that's producing decent coffee. Two collared cats next to the shop meowed and followed me to the door which was wonderful and adorable. I ordered a cortado which was solid, strong and not bitter whatsoever. It was properly made which is refreshing to see. The hubby ordered an iced hazelnut coffee which was delicious! They're using crushed ice which makes the coffee super cold and also prevents it from being watered down.

Yelp
Let me start of by saying.. WOW!! Their Oji iced coffee is so flavorful. You won't be disappointed with this choice.. especially if you're a lover of a good ice coffee.. this stop in New Orleans is a must! My husband ordered their cafe Au Lait and it was so frothy/creamy. The French truck is a very cool little coffee shop with a wide range of options(all of which you will probably enjoy) the staff is helpful and kind. Nicely decorated and very clean! Love it.
