French Truck Coffee Is Opening a Fourth NOLA Location - Eater New Orleans

"Not to be overshadowed by the news of the opening, French Truck’s other locations — on Magazine, Dryades and Chartres Streets — are serving a special drink for the months of August and September." - Alison Baitz

Google
First of all, best chicory coffee that I had in New Orleans! My coworkers and I visited French Truck Coffee on June 14th. We actually had the unique privilege of meeting several of their team members later that day at Coffee Fest! Anyway, back to the review! I ordered the New Orleans Iced Coffee and it was sooo good!! The team member that took our order was very friendly and kind. The atmosphere was amazing! They have plenty of seating indoor and out! Their patio area is so cute!! Loved the atmosphere. Loved the overall experience! Thank you, French Truck Coffee!

Google
Finally, a truly good coffee! I can confidently say it's the best Americano I've had in the US. Smooth, full of flavor, and without the usual burnt or sour taste. Their coffee genuinely made my visit to NOLA even better.

Google
French Truck has a new pastry chef and it’s horrible for me!! This was the jalapeño croissant ! It is so freaking good! I probably should have taken the picture before , but it’s just that good!

Google
I’ve been coming here for years. The coffee’s great, the staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. It’s a nice spot to sit for a bit but I was surprised (and a little disappointed) to find out they’ve gone completely cashless. I know digital payments are the way things are heading, but not everyone wants or is able to pay that way. Sometimes I just want to use the cash in my pocket without pulling out an app or card. Still a good shop, but going cashless makes it feel a little less welcoming. I’ll stop in now and then, but it’s not as convenient as it used to be. (They claim it's for faster service but I've never had a long wait at this location)

Google
I got their iced matcha and it was probably the worst matcha I’ve ever had. It just tasted like milk with a drop of matcha. Not worth the $6 for a small

Google
I come to this location every now and then as a little treat for my son. We always pay in cash as it's something I use as a teaching moment about money and spending. I was really disappointed to find out the café has gone completely cashless. It doesn’t feel very reflective of New Orleans culture, especially for a local spot. This city thrives on small, personal exchanges, and many people including families and older residents still rely on cash. I love supporting local businesses, but I hope they’ll reconsider making things more accessible for everyone again.

After dropping our friends off for their cruise, my husband and I were on the hunt for coffee. Yes, there was a Starbucks close by, but I wanted to try something new and someplace local. A quick search led me here, and we were very glad we visited. The place looks small on the outside but is very roomy inside with a spacious and beautiful outdoor patio. The entire space is bright and airy and is a great place to relax before starting your day. The young woman behind the counter was very helpful in answering my questions, and our coffee came out quickly. If you are visiting the area, do yourself a favor and give French Truck Coffee a try. It's a welcome change from the usual stand-by!

Google
I thought this cafe was very chill and a good place to just hang in the morning before you start your day. The breakfast sandwich was pretty good, but I will say the matcha latte 🍵 could be better (I could say that about most places tho). I’m not a coffee drinker so I can’t speak on the coffee. Overall, nice place to visit.

Yelp
I've never had a better muffin in my life! French truck coffee has an adorable ambiance and extremely friendly workers, but the muffins are where it's at. They have a babka muffin (which I had to google, it's supposed to be a chocolate and vanilla swirl but I couldn't tell the difference between the flavors) and a blueberry muffin. They are both extremely light and slightly sweet without being too sweet. Their coffees are good as well, and service was always fast. I ended up coming here for breakfast 3 days in a row, and each day they had plenty of seating available for people to sit and work.

Yelp
Local coffee chain. Came here with two coffee "connoisseurs" as they would prefer to be called but to me, they are totally just "bean snobs," hahaa. They weren't a fan of the coffee -- stated it was bitter and watered down and compared it to Starbucks. Since I gave up coffee for 100 days, I opted for the tea with a lemonade base. It was SO GOOD. So glad I got the largest size too! Clean bathrooms. Helpful staff members. Lots of seating options in the back and even out front too.

Yelp
French Truck Coffee is a delightful gem discovered during our road trip, and its allure extends far beyond its exceptional brews. The interior of this charming coffee shop is an aesthetic masterpiece, radiating a captivating charm that instantly enamored us. The ambiance seamlessly balances a contemporary flair with cozy warmth, creating an inviting space to savor the coffee experience. The patio, an additional boon, proved to be an idyllic setting to enjoy our beverages amid a pleasant atmosphere. The ice latte, a testament to their commitment to quality, was nothing short of stellar--its smooth, rich flavors providing the perfect refreshment for our journey. French Truck Coffee effortlessly marries aesthetics and taste, making it a must-stop for anyone seeking a picturesque coffee haven with equally exceptional offerings.

Yelp
Loved this place! They had a nice selection of coffee to choose from and more bakery items than I was expecting. My friend and I came here at about 8:30am and it was still quiet and slow. We stayed for about 2 hours and the crowd picked up pretty quickly. It's not a very big place but big enough for a few places to sit and study if you really need to. They are pet friendly, which was a pleasant surprise! I love what they have to offer and will hopefully get to come back soon.

Yelp
After getting over the initial shock that this was neither a truck nor French, I settled in for a nice cup of coffee. Well maybe I could see the French part, and technically there is indeed a truck at the Chartres Street location, so there you go. But back to the reason I came: the coffee. Today I rolled out with a caffe au lait, and while I waited I gazed at the elaborate all-day drip mechanisms creating brews that are probably smooth-as-silk. It was a smooth process from order to finish for me this day, and there were plenty of window tables to tarry while gazing and sipping. You can't miss the building if you're headed here: just look for the yellowist yellow of all yellows and come on in. They pride on building relationships toward sustainable blends, so feel good while you drink and read their Transparency Report. I'll be back, or hit one of the other locations next time around.

Yelp
I visited this spot several years ago and knew I wanted to go back the next time I was in New Orleans. So, I stopped in yesterday for an espresso and a pour over (Pacamara varietal, don't remember the origin). The espresso was the best one I've had in a few weeks--bright and fruity without any astringency. The pour over was also great; it had darker fruit notes (plum & bing cherry) and was quite sweet. There is plenty of seating, both indoors and outside, and the staff is very friendly.

Yelp
In A Nutshell: -French Truck Coffee is a local coffee chain with locations around NOLA, Louisiana & Memphis. -They source from origin bringing you the freshest beans in small batches & roast them for you promptly. -During hot & muggy days like the current heat dome we're experiencing in the Dirty South, you'll be happy to down a nice cold cup of New Orleans Iced Coffee. -Not only is the coffee amazing, but the type of ice they use is my favorite crushed ice that pairs perfectly w/ this iced coffee. -I like the name French Truck Coffee along w/ the bright yellow color they use. -You can even purchase their coffee at local grocery stores too. Overall, if you are NOLA, you need to stop by for some great coffee!

Yelp
Hands-down, my favorite coffee in New Orleans and I love that they have expanded to several locations throughout the city. This location in particular was extremely close to our Airbnb where we were staying for Thanksgiving, so my husband and I would walk over pretty much every morning to get our caffeine fix. The service was always fast and friendly and I look forward to coming back to French truck the next time I'm in town.

Yelp
If you're a serious coffee drinker who loves espresso drinks and knows the difference when it comes to quality then this is the place that you should go if you're in need of caffeine. Full menu of caffeinated goodness. A perfect, simple cortado? An iced latte w/alt milks etc? Pour over? They've got it and it's going to be good. You can't have great coffee without great beans and competent baristas on the machines. They've got both. Check out the pastry selection as well. A few real gems in the case that you might not want to miss. Aside from the product, the people working seem super chill and as if they're glad to be there. Good vibes all around and excellent, friendly service. The room itself consists of the counter where you order and pick up which is near the front door, then it opens up as you move to the back where there is ample seating and a nice quiet atmosphere which is perfect for anyone who is looking to spend some time either working or just enjoying that nice cup of caffeine. Don't 2nd guess it. If you know good coffee and you know that's what you're looking for...don't take any chances. Come here and be pleasantly surprised.

Yelp
Came to this local New Orleans chain coffee shop a few times during my visit to new Orleans. I always got the new Orleans iced coffee (cold brew with chicory and milk). They have a small variety of pastries and some bars (one of which is from a favorite company of mine, big spoon roasters!). I can't really tell what chicory flavor is but the overall drink is unique and really tasty on a hot day. It doesn't drink as heavy as a latte which I liked. It isn't too sweet at all. I usually have to adjust sweetness but I never had to for this drink. I tried the blueberry muffins and thought it was good but not amazing. My sister tried the ham and cheese croissant and loved it. They load it with a ton of cheese and it is really tasty. The space has indoor and outdoor seating and includes WiFi and a good amount of plugs. A good place to chill and/or work.

Yelp
Converted shipping container on Eratos and magazine street. Ordered a large frosted mint mocha with oat milk and one added shot of espresso (comes with only 2 shots for their large, insufficient for this size cup) and a small jasmine green tea. $12.91. More expensive than the same items and size from Mojo yesterday, almost by $2 even. The mocha is decent from here. The tea is okay, another tea bag cup from here. Tastes like a standard jasmine green tea to me. The have a front patio and a back patio as well.

Yelp
My friend kept talking about French Truck, so when we were about to walk around Magazine, we stopped in for a cold drink. I couldn't decide what to get and the fantastic barista helped me out, offering me their insight into the flavors of their iced tea. Then, while making our drinks, he was so kind and chatted with us about recently released movies and a documentary recommendation. I would definitely go back to try more drinks and for the exceptional service.

Yelp
I came during Mardi Gras and had the best experience here. I love coffee, especially on the sweeter side. The person working the counter, gave me great suggestions, and a free sticker. I had the "NOLA" but added in vanilla at her suggestion, and it was so good. I love the vibes here if I lived here, I could definitely see myself on my laptop next to the bay window. I also tried the cinnamon king cake, and the ham and cheese croissant. Both are to die for! Non dairy options available, they use Califa Oat milk, my fav!
google avatar

Charles H.

Yelp
"Good" This is the best of the French Truck locations. Primarily because it is attached to their roasting facility. While the coffee is better than most, the pastries always underwhelm. I assume that they are still supplied by Gracious which has become increasingly Meh over time.
google avatar

Ashley B.

Yelp
This is a MUST VISIT spot when in town and in the FQ. We stopped in several times and each time was better than the last. I will definitely return on my next trip!

Yelp
French Truck Coffee (established in 2012) is a small New Orleans-based coffee chain that focuses on small-batch & fresh-roasted coffee with 10 different locations (mostly in New Orleans with two in Memphis and one in Baton Rouge as of December 2022.) [Parking]: Street parking only and the private lot next door belongs to the Green House Inn; however it shouldn't be an issue to find a street parking spot in nearby streets and the neighborhood feels safe. [Amenities]: The coffee shop has ample indoor seating and spacious backyard outdoor seating area. [Menu]: You'll find various baked goods such as bagels, croissants, cookies, and muffins. The espresso menu includes Americano, macchiato, cortado, cappuccino, mocha, and latte. Yes you can order café au lait here (chicory coffee with hot milk) as well as their signature New Orleans Iced Coffee. *** New Orleans Iced Coffee (dark roast cold brew with chicory and milk - $4.40 for small): The drink didn't taste super sweet and super dark all at the same time. I do like light or medium-tasting coffee and the drink was pretty decent. Please note that chicory has an earthy (others would describe as "taste like dirt") taste and it may not be everyone's cup of tea. *** A great stop for a quick breakfast bite and French Truck Coffee is one of very few third-wave coffee shops you will find in New Orleans.

Yelp
Loved the croissants! Friendly, good coffee, great place! Easy to go place and you can order ahead and pickup!

Yelp
Amazing coffee! I would recommend everyone to go there. Really clean spot to say it's in the French Quarters. My husband and I came in and we were immediately greeted by a petite girl with beautiful smile. I cannot remember her full name, I think it's something with a K, but she was training with an unfamiliar face to me Tee. I am always coming to French truck for coffee because it's very convenient for me. I got a chance to have chat with Tee and she told me she was the new GM there. Such a pleasant person. I stopped coming over about 2 or 3 months because I didn't feel like the workers wanted to be there. Everyone looked so miserable. Yesterday, was my 1st day back and it was THE BEST EXPERIENCE ever!! My husband was having a bad day yesterday, and his face showed it. Tee told him a joke and he cracked up and thanked her. Sorry the post is so long but I had to tell you guys about the great experience we had. I'll definitely be coming back more often. Tee and the team made me feel home again. I feel like she's family now lol. Definitely a 10 out of 10 experience. Everyone was great and happy.

Yelp
French Truck Coffee has a number of locations in New Orleans but I specifically wanted to go to their Magazine St. location for the vibes. I love getting New Orleans style-iced coffee from a popular coffee store chain in California and I wanted to try their authentic version. I love the flavor chicory adds to the coffee and theirs was creamy and good. I also brought home a bag of their specialty Festin' beans to brew at home. Price is pretty steep for these two items but if you're looking for some good coffee in town, it's definitely the place to visit.

Yelp
French Truck has great coffee. This particular location in the garden district is one of my favs. They have a nice little patio courtyard and plenty of indoor seating. They do not have a lot of outlets, though. They have free wifi, which is always nice.
google avatar

Siena D.

Yelp
French Truck coffee is very Instagram worthy. I loved the bright yellow. On top of the fun decor, the coffee is really good. We got multiple coffees and all of the roasts tasted great. When flavored it didn't overpower the actual coffee taste. I personally had the chai latte. It wasn't my favorite as there seemed to be a little strong on one spice (not sure which) that detracted from the smoothness.
google avatar

Rick P.

Yelp
Friendly service, had a black medium roast coffee and it was certainly a unique brew but enjoyable indeed. Plenty of room inside with on street parking.
google avatar

Joanna M.

Yelp
Street parking only. The staff was pleasant. The inside was quiet and seemed like a good place to write a few emails or surf the internet. I purchased some coffee beans based on the reviews and am looking forward to trying them. The latte was good but I wished I had tried the seasonal special instead.
google avatar

Jane M.

Yelp
I was in NOLA for 3 days and French Truck was my goto coffee spot wherever I was. Their New Orleans iced coffee is beyond amazing and I was addicted to its flavors. Wish they were available all over US but they do sell some of their roasted beans to take home for coffee lovers like me. Cute decor very vibrant, staff is good and they always have seating available for folks to sit around and enjoy their delicious coffee. Rightly recommended by locals in NOLA.

Mariana S.

Yelp
I tried the chai latte and it was good, great spot to work remotely with friendly staff

Yelp
I recently came to French Truck Coffee during a trip to New Orleans. I actually saw this place on the way to get a slice of cake at Bakery Bar down the street and decided I'd bring the cake here and pair it with some coffee. Upon entry, I liked the place's simple and clean aesthetic. There were an adequete amount of tables to sit at. The guy who took my order seemed very nice and friendly as well, which is always a big plus. I ended up just getting a small coffee ($2.50). I think it probably came out to $2.75 after tax. I think there were 3 types of roasts to choose from: medium, dark, and chicory. I just got the medium roast but looks like chicory is their specialty so too bad I didn't try that one. I'm not a coffee expert, but I felt their medium roast was excellent. It was buttery smooth going down my throat and noticably better than any other chain coffee I've had. I think the combination of all things here make it deserving of a 5 star rating. If I'm ever in New Orleans again I'll drop by to try the chicory.
google avatar

Clarissa D.

Yelp
The almond croissant was delicious! It was light and fluffy and and paired perfectly with my iced latte.
google avatar

Marissa A.

Yelp
Not only was the food & coffee delicious. The staff was super nice! (I forgot to get her name) but this morning the cashier was super friendly. If i wasn't just visiting this would definitely be my go to! Forgot to mention the ham & cheese was bomb! Nice and crunchy!

Mindy P.

Yelp
Friendly and the coffee was tasty. I would return! Parking might be a challenge but overall a good experience.
google avatar

Sierra B.

Yelp
We stopped in quickly on the way out from our hotel down the street - so glad we did! Very cute shop with teas and coffees, limited selection of baked goods it seemed, outside seating, as well as indoor. They're doing masks though, even if vaccinated, as a strong suggestion per the sign on the door - just so ya know! Coffee was very tasty - she got it to us quick. There was ample street parking which was a very nice positive when traveling with young kids!

Adria L.

Yelp
I got the New Orleans iced coffee, it was good but maybe a bit too much milk and not enough coffee. Because the coffee was sweet I couldn't really judge if it was good but from what I could tell it was very smooth. I'm a fan!
google avatar

Blake D.

Yelp
My wallet fell out of my pocket in front of French Truck on Magazine. I was frantic. The next morning I called and the staff person said my wallet was in the safe. When I got there the four young ladies behind the counter were so kind. Everything, including the cash, was still in the wallet. I was amazed, especially since I lost it at one of the outside tables, not inside the coffeehouse. I will make a point of going here now and telling my visiting friends and family to do that too. That's how it works. Oh, and the coffee is great, as well.

Kari N.

Yelp
I was unsure about entering when I approached the shop. I then entered the shop and it was comfortable and welcoming. The people were very friendly and the coffee and pastries were wonderful!
google avatar

Samantha G.

Yelp
Always good for a cafe ole! We love to visit French truck when we come to Nola. They also offer delicious pastries.
google avatar

Jen B.

Yelp
Yummy! It's never a bad time for coffee and strolling along Magazine Street is the right time for sure. I stopped in to grab a cafe au lait and I was a happy girl. It was delicious. I love that they are sustainable with clean and dirty spoons rather than wasting stir sticks. Such an easy idea that many places skip over. Keep the coffee coming.
google avatar

Zabrina R.

Yelp
Pretty solid location to do some work. I believe this is the first French Truck location, and was once just a roastery. In the last few years they've remodeled things and continue to roast at another location. Ways to get the most bang for your buck: 1) When you buy beans they're fresh AND come with a complimentary drink. Usually just a regular drip coffee or a shot of espresso. 2) Enter your phone number for rewards! You earn a point for every $1 spent, and with points you can redeem discounts off your next order. A perfect gig for students. French truck is consistent in terms of quality flavors so this review is more about the staff and study environment. Wendell is always friendly, and they do check vaccination cards if you decide to sit for here. Wifi has been a bit spotty as of 2/7/22 but with some persistence I was able to connect. Compared to other locations, this has a nice outdoor space and tends to have abundant seating with outlets. Bathrooms are always clean, and I've never had a problem with my usual order (I recommend the cafe au lait served dark - aka less foam - or the iced vanilla latte half sweet. Their iced coffee is also good)! Highly recommend their pastries as well. Ham and cheese croissants are a bit flat but are flavorful! Their chocolate babkas are a MUST-TRY if you're craving something sweet. On top of this, they have SEASONAL BLENDS of beans and SEASONAL PASTRIES as well - perfect for gifts or souvenirs. One thing about this location, is there isn't that much natural light in the study areas. Not too big a deal though given that there's free, ample street parking and is right on Magazine.
google avatar

Annick G.

Yelp
This was definitely the best coffee shop we visited in Nola! The iced coffee was very tasty, and the iced tea was also amazing (they had a sparkling water option)! They also had that fancy crushed ice that really takes everything up a notch (it's just science). We loved the vibes of the place and everyone working there was very pleasant. French Truck should be on your list for a visit to the Garden District!
google avatar

Munzer Q.

Yelp
After two years absent from Nola , our coffee and croissant hang out is better than ever. The food and the coffee still as delicious tasty as ever, the place has inside and courtyard seating now. It's amazing. Don't miss this terrific spot. Enjoy!
google avatar

Brandy G.

Yelp
Were in town for vacation and found this great place for coffee. There are a few locations, but this one was close enough to walk from our hotel. I'm so thankful we found it because the coffee is really good. It gets busy in the mornings, but I see why. Definitely worth a try.
google avatar

Regina L.

Yelp
Very good coffee and chicory! U can find them at stand alone and inside of Whole Foods in NOLA.
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
It's a perfect study spot for me- lots of light, busy but still quiet enough, good/fast service, and tasty drinks and pastries. My only suggestion is that I'd love if they sold matcha drinks!

Sheri B.

Yelp
Delicious tea and coffee. The shelf life is longer than most coffee beans. The flavor is always tasty and enjoyable. Haste's delicious iced or hot. We try the holiday flavors which are always unique. I'm so happy I found this company.
google avatar

Yelp
Super cool atmosphere and really good coffee. Has clean bathroom as well. Can't wait to try the Satsuma Dreamsicle!

Yelp
I was walking around by magazine st then I fined this coffee shop I order the mocha and I also got Christmas stiker Wish we got one French coffee truck in chicago
google avatar

Cassandra C.

Yelp
Coffee was good. Inside was cute but small. Could have used better decor outside. It was hot and difficult to fit everyone inside without being too close.

Beth P.

Yelp
We order French Truck Coffee (Le Grand Coq Rouge is our favorite) and have it shipped to Hawaii. Even in this land of wonderful coffee, we order from French Truck because the coffee is so good. Friends brought us a bag from a trip to New Orleans, and we were so glad to be able to order online. The great thing is that shipping is free with six bags of beans, and they get it here so quickly. We think they are the greatest and highly recommend ordering coffee beans if you don't live in New Orleans.
google avatar

Tim E.

Yelp
My favorite NOLA coffee spot. My location is Magazine and Erato. Muffins are awesome and bagels are toasted to your liking. Coffee is excellent and the staff is fantastic and provide first rate service
google avatar

Roger I.

Yelp
Very sweet (while I was August sweat), helpful staff who were eager to guide this Northwest salmon-out-of-water to a delicious brew. Thank you, FTC!
google avatar

Kathy M.

Yelp
One of my favorite places. They are pup friendly and even keep treats behind the counter so I like to stop here on some of my pup walks and we can both enjoy a little treat. Coffee is great and I like the almond croissant too. In addition to the inside tables there is a nice outdoor space in the back if you want to linger a while.
