Detroit’s Best-Value Restaurants: An Essential Guide - Eater Detroit

"Just about everything on the menu of this relative newcomer to the West Village area can be had for under $10, making for quite a deal. Burgers go for $7 to $8, an assortment of hotdogs are available for $4.50 to $6, and sandwiches — like the Jambon-Beurre (ham and cheese) — sell for no more than $8. Pair with a bag of Better Made potato chips and a can of Faygo and that’s a well-balance Detroit lunch on the go." - Serena Maria Daniels

Frenchies Replaces La Boheme in Detroit’s West Village - Eater Detroit

"Frenchies is a new neighborhood sandwich spot taking over the space that was home to the short-lived French cafe La Bohème. The restaurant is set to open this fall and will offer a selection of casual American food with minor French associations, including french dip sandwiches, french toast, and french fries. Local business owner Jesse Welter is behind the project. The restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with meals priced around $10 and will likely stay open most days until 8 p.m." - Brenna Houck

Google
Such good bfast food. I feel like since I moved to Metro Detroit from Austin I haven’t been able to find a good breakfast sandwich. I’ve had the brioche buns, then ciabatta breads, the biscuits and they are tasty but not what I want. This place has it, it has an incredibly delicious, homemade breakfast sandwich on an awesome English muffin. Everything is lathered in butter and bacon fat, clogging all the things you want clogged. They also have a McDonald’s esque hash-brown that is simply good. My husband got something else delicious croque monsieur, it looked so good, the chef came out to deliver it because he was running behind and felt bad, he said his first sauce broke and wanted to fix it. So impressed, honestly loved it there.

The food was good. But what I heard by word of mouth was this place has great gourmet got dogs. I thought they would have been home made or a foot long. But we're about 6". The toppings definitely made or delicious. Coffee was on point ❤️. Staff were super nice and friendly. I liked their down to earthness which you don't really get much of these days.

Very cool little local eatery, sandwiches were fantastic.

Google
Frenchies is a fantastic, unpretentious, fast casual brunch spot. It seems to cross diner food with a "new American" style brunch menu. The prices are reasonable and the food is hearty and delicious. The coffees, drip and espresso, are solid as well. Very glad this place opened in the neighborhood and look forward to eating here in the outdoor seating in the Summer!

The croque monsieur was excellent, simple and full of flavor. Sat at the outside picnic tables on a beautiful balmy day with the puppies. Highly recommended for those that appreciate low key style & flavor

Jesse and crew are dedicated to making an affordable neighborhood eatery. Their hand-pies are delicious, coffee hot, and service friendly. I'm happy that the Greater Villages have another place to frequent.

The 1st time I stopped by they were not open even tho hours on line said they were (Sunday). I went back a few days later same (Today). It's a nice mom and pop spot but the feel is that they'll open when ready and no real customer service...I tried the LeMuffin very basic I honestly wish i'd passed. I just watched 5 cutomers leave because they were not initially open and two guys just walked out. They waited several minutes the person never saw them. I spent 20 minutes dining, once I received my food never saw the server again. Lastly, I didn't like the dog walking throughout the restaurant and joined store next door. He is HUGE and it startled me. This restaurant is to laxed I wont be back....

Finally made it here for brunch and the food was delicious (I had the croque monsieur and the poutine)! Loved the unpretentious, diner vibe mixed with the fun French decor. Can’t wait to walk here more over the summer to grab a bite to eat. Great addition to our neighborhood.

Yelp
Stopped in here with a friend before a class at Sister Pie. I had a delicious BLT on perfect French bread. The bacon was meaty, the tomatoes perfect and the lettuce crisp. My friend had a Ham & Cheese no ham because she's vegetarian. The owner customized her sandwich by leaving off the ham and adding more veggies. We got a single order of fries to share and it was plenty for both of us - some of the best shoestrings I've had in quite a while. The food was delivered out to us at the picnic table outside on quirky mismatched plates. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the service was great. There's also a wonderful Old English Sheepdog on premesis who is very friendly.

Yelp
Lovely little corner space on Kercheval in Detroit! Yes, Frenchie's big, friendly sheepdog will be the first to get up and greet you as you walk up to the counter but there's nothing fearsome about it. The French roast coffee was served piping hot, smooth and strong. My companion sipped a double macchiato while we listened to an old timey radio from decades ago. Seating is indoors. Picnic tables are outside. Recommended

Yelp
I was disappointed with the long wait time and the food quality. When I read Jambon Beurre on the menu, I expected a baguette slathered with gourmet butter and deli-sliced ham. I was told that Frenchie's was out of baguettes, but I still expected a certain level of quality. Instead, I got a basic American ham and cheese sandwich with pickles that many of us took to school in our lunch boxes as children. It was absurd. This was in no way a French jambon beurre. The fries were okay but a bit on the salty side. The best thing was the Raspberry Lemonade Seltzer, but everything was overpriced. Another plus was the outdoor seating. However, I waited half an hour for this very simple meal. If you are in a hurry for lunch, go elsewhere. I don't recommend eating here.

Yelp
I wanted to like this local place, but the food quality is ok and not worth the price. The burger meat seems some frozen Walmart stuff. It's not even hot though it's freshly made. The strangest thing is $1 extra togo charge. for a tiny box for one burger, without informing. I don't see an honest place does this, a bit petty.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick lunch on Saturday. Great service, delicious sandwich. My Mom got the BLT and me, the Jambon-Buerre. Great corner space and cool old building. We will be back!

Yelp
Hands down the BEST coffee around. I had a LeMuffin and a French vanilla Latte, both were flavorful and delicious. Service was excellent, along with a clean and chill environment. Also, there is the cutest dog ever!! He smiles!! I will be back with friends!!
