"There’s nothing particularly extraordinary about Frenchman’s Pub, but that’s a good thing. It shines as a neighborhood watering hole that’s an excellent spot for a classic burger and a cold bottle of beer. Throw in a game or two of pool and it might just be the perfect getaway from airport craziness." - Will Simons

Google
First come first serve type of place when it comes to seating. I think they would definitely be considered a “dive bar”. If you’re looking for a five star waited on hand and foot type of place then keep moving 😂 I’ve been here where there’s a server coming around and is quite attentive and I’ve also been here when you could wait forever if you don’t go up and order yourself. You just have to feel the vibe and don’t be offended or afraid to go up and order if no one comes to you. Drinks are strong!!! If you don’t like to taste the liquor make sure you ask for a little extra flavor because they poor strong. Food is sooo good, it hits the spot anytime, can’t go wrong with any of the burgers and everything else on the menu is great. I would recommend to anyone!

I finally made it here to try the Le Mac burger, a much better version of the Big Mac. The burger was cooked perfectly and all the toppings went well together. The fries were crispy and clearly made from fresh potatoes. The atmosphere is typical Minnesota bar/grill with a motley crew and loud jukebox (that’s a good thing!).

Google
This is a total dive bar and I love it! It does get loud and it does get crowded so be prepared for that! The burgers are great and very affordable but they could be a little more consistent as I've had a couple over done ones. I'm from a small town and this place would fit right in to that vibe. Cheap strong drinks, good deep fried options, sometimes it's just what you need!

Zach Lindstrom

Google
This is one of those places that you wouldn't think would be awesome but it's awesome and worth popping in for some food and soak up the atmosphere.

Jill Wittgraf

Google
Best French fries I've ever had, Burger itself was VERY good! Love the atmosphere, very busy and been in business a long long time for a reason! Prices were very affordable!!

Patrick

Google
Frenchman’s is quite the place! Christmas lights from the ceiling, awesome atmosphere, beers, full bar, bar food menu, pull tabs, and free parking. We enjoyed onion rings, chicken tenders, cheese curds, and burgers. All the food is classic bar food that goes well with a few beers! We’ll be back to Frenchman’s Pub for sure!

Google
One of my favorite neighborhood stops. If you are not local and or do not plan on having dinner with me please steer clear! Frenchmans is a local gem with amazing prices and unbelievably consistent service paired with food you will find yourself craving again and again. If your server has an attitude it is your fault, if you have an attitude you can catch a bubble 🫧. Thank you Frenchamans, see you soon!

Google
Love this place but don’t like to come with other people. They put all orders on one bill and you figure out what you owe. How hard to have multiple pieces of paper instead of one. Stupid and that’s why we don’t bring numerous parties back. But I was told if I don’t like it go somewhere else. Ok!

Yelp
The perfect neighborhood bar to hangout with friends and grab a burger. I visited on a Friday evening and it was about as busy as your would expect a local bar to be. There is only about 6-7 bar seats to belly up to but I was able to snag one. Aside from that you will find a dozen or so table to sit at. The bartender was super friendly and made time to chat and joke around while still being on top of taking food and drink orders. According to the menu, they have been famous for their burgers since 1933 so I ordered a burger. The California double, added bacon and ghost pepper cheese. This burger was AMAZING. Two huge patties cooked to a perfect medium stacked high with fresh lettuce and tomato. Honesty one of the better bar burgers I've ever had. I absolutely loved my experience and ended up hanging out a little later then expected because of the great staff and patrons.

Yelp
I have been coming to Frenchman's since I was a baby .. literally.. I have pictures of me in my car seat on the table ha that being said I may be biased . I want to start out with saying , I have read a lot of reviews and the main issue is SERVICE , I understand this , but this is a small "hole" in the wall bar and they do their best . Usually only two people working. I always grab a menu right when I walk in, they are located on the wall by the mens bathroom . PRO tip walk up to the bar and order , it makes everyone's life easier ... and frankly isn't hard ... Now to the food . I crave Frenchman's weekly and I usually make weekly happen . The FRIES are my favorite almost anywhere, make them even better by asking for them extra crispy . I have had almost everything on the menu. My go to is the ghost pepper burger add onions and mushrooms . The burgers are just classic and never disappoint, you can't go wrong with any of them . They started a new burger of the month, and that's what I had last week . It had chihuahua cheese , hatch chili jam and grilled jalapeño . Lots of heat here , but soooo much flavor . I will be sad I can't get it again , but looking forward to the next BOTM The battered mushrooms are to die for. The cowboy balls (sweet corn , bacon , jalapeño and cream cheese in a light battered ball ) also better extra crispy , but seriously so yummy . Another perk of Frenchman's is cheap drinks and overall their prices are low and the food is GREAT . I always get a pitcher of Coors light and I am a happy camper . Richfield is lucky to have Frenchman's, and I hope I can continue to enjoy eating here for years to come .

Yelp
Stopped at this restaurant for a quick lunch. I really enjoyed the small town atmosphere in the big city. Great people and quick service. I really enjoyed the Frenchmen's Pub sandwich. It is worth the extra $2.50 to get the french fries.

Jessica S.

Yelp
Cute dive bar pretty dark inside but prices are great. We each had a drink and shared wings for under $20. Wings were good drunks were cold, beer was served in a frosty glass. Service was friendly and prompt. I'd stop by again if in the area.

David M.

Yelp
My friend and I stopped here for a few beers after dinner. Big open space with scattered tables throughout. My friend bought us each two beers and I noticed one of the beers she brought back to the table was NA. My suggestion is to pay attention to your order. It wasn't overly busy, but you can tell the locals at the bar area get all of the immediate attention.

Uli L.

Yelp
The best place to go for a beer and dinner in Richfield. Don't be deterred by the exterior. The (bar) food has become amazing. The manager is over the top helpful and personable as well. 100% recommend.

Robert G.

Yelp
Found this place a couple weeks ago. Was enjoying stopping in a couple times a week. I enjoy playing pulltabs, beer and good food. It is a little confusing as you don't know if you will be served or go to the bar. But all in all was a good place. Today was there and was enjoying some beers with my mom and playing pulltabs and was going to have dinner. Out of nowhere the bald guy from the kitchen comes out and says "Tips are appreciated, I mean not only for us but also for the pulltab sales'! I had been tipping $1.50 on each $3.50 beer and had already tipped the pulltab lady over $100. I was completely taken back by his comment out of nowhere and will NEVER go back. Left without dinner and would have tipped out nicely again after dinner. Stay in your lane buddy! I am sure that the rest of the crowd was not tipping near what I was as they are all in there daily for your cheap beer. A little disappointing and completely turned OFF!

Yelp
This place used to be a wonderful hidden gem dive bar then around 2017 it started to get popular with the hipster crowd and since then it slowly has gone downhill. Back in 2017 they had three pool tables, good food, packed every night, and fun place to hang out. As time went on they went from three pool tables to two, to one, and now zero pool tables. I'll never understand the businesses thinking since the pool tables stayed busy and people would come to play pool then spend money on booze and their delicious burgers and the tables were busy all night. So now in 2023 they have zero pool tables, the hipster crowd has diminished, some long time bartenders have left, regulars that came to play pool don't visit anymore, and they are on the decline. Sad since I really used to like this place but now drive past it and won't be back (unless they get pool tables again). Seriously, what kind of dive bar doesn't have a pool table?

River W.

Yelp
Not sure why.. don't know the man and woman serving and bartending, but never have I been ignored for over 20 minutes, while my partner and I finish a whole game of cribbage before we walk out without being even asked for a drink order, let alone food. The male server legit fucked with a tv right behind us and still didn't approach us. ‍‍

Daniel G.

Yelp
Scotty didn't want to accept my money because I had a card. His 50 cent service fee meant more than treating his customers, my coworker paid before and then it was my turn we had to many cards. I guess a dollar for the 100$ we paid I couldn't pay my own. He was more worried about the 50 cents for the card then his customers wishes. Really rude man, would not come back because e ruined it acting like he was an owner of the place.-

AC W.

Yelp
I live in the neighborhood. Food is delicious bar-type food. I'm into that sort of thing. Atmosphere is non threatening and divey. I'm into that sort of thing.

Luke S.

Yelp
Awesome neighborhood dive bar. Staff is friendly and burgers are perfect. Stopped here on a Sunday for a quick bite to eat, and will definitely be back next time we're in the area.

Cynthia K.

Yelp
Frenchman's is the place to go for a fabulous juicy burger and other sandwiches and snacks.. we have been visiting for at least 20years and have had many family events here. Frenchmans is a historic place to visit when you come to Richfield. The owner, management and staff know how to make a drink, has many tvs for football and other sports. Why go any where else?

Paige S.

Yelp
I've come here many times and the service was never good. However, tonight I went and asked the bartender for another round three times and e never got it. Then. I finally asked for my check and was charged for more drinks than received. Terrible service every time.

Jake V.

Yelp
Whoever owns this place should sell it because they clearly do not care and clearly are not even trying. The food is Ok bar food, the burger is not bad. Everything else is an embarrassment. The service is just beyond awful and has been every time I have been in. The beer selection is just lazy. There is potential for the space but it is abundantly clear that nobody associated with this "business" cares enough to put in any effort. If you aren't a regular who romanticizes what this place may have once been do not even bother to give them a chance. Even with cheap prices it is not worth your money. They survive solely on low expectations and lack of competition in the area.

Angie O.

Yelp
I was plesantly surprised at how good the food was! Don't ask for seasoned sour cream cause they don't know what that is :) I've been 2 times now, the first time service was excellent. They second time not so much, and the messed up all of our orders. But I'd still go back.

Kelly W.

Yelp
Service is absolutely terrible. Clearly the regulars are far more important to them. We sit for 20 minutes before we are acknowledged. People come in after us and are helped right away. Beer is flat and warm. Do not recommend!

Laurie A.

Yelp
You don't come to Frenchman's for the great service or fancy menu. You come for $6 burgers, cheap beer, and dive bar vibe. I've been going to Frenchman's since I was a little kid and I don't think a thing has changed since. The food is all good, though 95% of it is fried. For appetizers, the deep fried mushrooms and cheese curds are fab favorites. For your meal, it's all about the burgers. Fries are fresh and crispy. We had a group of 4 and spent $41. An app, 7 drinks, and 4 meals. WOW. Totally divey and a very local/regular crowd, but perfect spot for a laid back burger night.

Abel S.

Yelp
Wow. Decent. And so cheap. Came for fish and chips and a beer. Will definitely come here every time I'm back in Minneapolis.

Thomas S.

Yelp
Don't order food here minus the frozen pizzas. Maybe the boneless wings if you have to. The chef was rude and it took over 2 hours.

Jennifer B.

Yelp
Terrible service. Tried this place several times as it's in the neighborhood. Last time called for takeout and the gal wouldn't take our order. Was talking to someone at the bar. Pretty much said she didn't want to take our order. Had the same type of service when we went in two other times. Got the feeling that it was a place for regulars. We obviously won't be.

Dan L.

Yelp
Incredible food, drinks, people, and overall vibe. Would recommend for anyone who likes to have a good time.

Missy H.

Yelp
3 days post Covid -19 Re-opening . Both bartenders have masks hanging off of their faces and are hugging patrons without washing hands afterwards. Enter at your own risk, yikes.

Kaitlyn G.

Yelp
We went yesterday and the service was HORRIBLE we had to go up and ask for menus and drink refills. I didn't even get my 2nd refill until we asked for the check. The TVs were way too loud. Our food took FOREVER!! And one of our guests got FOOD POISONING!!!!. NOT going back!!

Charles W.

Yelp
I had to ask for service 3 times because they weren't service service and it was frozen food like it wasn't good our burgers were raw on the middle and I got sick on fish-and-chips never coming back

Jazmen G.

Yelp
I walked for 30 minutes to get here because they aren't supposed to close till 2am got here at 12:30 am place is completely dark tried both doors then looked in the window and there's a couple people in there so I called and they answered I'm looks them their hours said they close at 2 am and they said yes but they closed early cuz there was only 2 costumers ... I'm literally enraged stay open when you are supposed to stay open now I have to walk another 30 minutes to get home with no drink nothing to eat and no bathroom to use. If it's like this I definitely won't attempt to visit again. This is no way to run a business. Oh and the other people are still in there I'm outside cold cuz they wouldn't let me in

Scott C.

Yelp
Little dive bar, nothing fancy at all but perfect for what it is. Really good burgers and fried foods!

Ben L.

Yelp
Loved this place. I was in town for a conference a few weeks ago, and I found this place on Yelp!. I've always made it a habit of finding the local spots whenever I travel out of town, and Frenchman's fit the bill perfectly. I had the hotel shuttle drop me off there, so it was pretty obvious from the beginning that I was not from around there. I was immediately greeted by one of the locals, and they were nice enough to buy me a beer (thanks Rick!). I ended up staying way later than I should have playing pool with all of the regulars, and they were just as welcoming as Rick was when I first arrived. If I was ever in Minneapolis again, I would drive 20 miles just to go back here. Tip: DO NOT drink Mind Erasers with the locals the night before a conference.

Lee C.

Yelp
Absolutely awful. Came based on the reviews. Took about 10 mins before anyone acknowledged us. I ordered a burger which took 35 minutes. The app we ordered never came and we just told our waitress to cancel it and give us our tab. Waitress never came back so I had to go to the bar to pay. Waitress never even apologized about our food not coming. On top of that, the food was also terrible. I'm not sure where the other reviewers are getting their tastebuds from, but even fast food is better than this place. On the plus side, they have a parking lot and a guy selling weed near the alley just off the lot.

Jonathan H.

Yelp
Your service sucks and your all rude. But I love it because it's so dirty and nostalgic.

Shaymein E.

Yelp
They always pour 'em stiff. Great place. Great TouchTunes. The food and locals are awesome as well. Definitely one of the best dives. Bring quarters for golden tee and pool.

Matt M.

Yelp
Great dive bar. I put their burgers up there with the top ones in the city. Bartenders are friendly and give stiff pours. Grew up in Richfield and this is our go to spot.

Jill L.

Yelp
Great dive bar with delicious bar food! The clientele were friendly and was the staff. Their food is cheap and there's a good variety! and the beer... cold and cheap too. Perfect place to grab a quick burger and beer, or hang out for a few hours for some fun. They have plenty of TVs too so you can watch a game. Easy to find, great location right off of 66th street so you can even take the bus!

Sheri L.

Yelp
I only have 2 complaints: they need a waiter/waitress through dinner time. Music was too loud, couldn't hold a conversation. Otherwise, with the cook & bartender trying to do their jobs and wait tables, it was all okay. As usual, the food was awesome!!! We will go back again, but maybe for lunch!!

Jacob W.

Yelp
I enjoy this place, but to do so, you need to have the proper expectations. It's a dive. But it's a charming dive. It's very small but they pack plenty into their tiny area: they have pool tables, a pinball machine, and pull tabs. There is, however, a caveat: the service is a nightmare. The bartender is irritated by the very presence of customers. Don't expect a smile. But, again, set your expectations to "dive," and it won't ruin your good time. The menu is just fried bar food, but the cheeseburgers are very good!

Mark B.

Yelp
Poor Service! We waited 15 minutes for service, then left! Smokers allowed to smoke and block front door! Give them a place to smoke other then by front door!

Robert W.

Yelp
I grew up on these small footprint bar/ kitchen places. If you're up for a good sandwich and a beer, you could do a lot worse. I had the pork tenderloin and my wife had the BLT. The fries portion was generous and we had a couple of Leinies. Yelp didn't let us down.

Gabriel S.

Yelp
Nice casual place to get a drink. Stay away from the very large man with the over size sharpie he will move in with you and trash your place

Some G.

Yelp
Whenever you go to a bar a few times and the people that work at the bar are constantly there drinking on their nights off, you know you've found a winner. That, in a nutshell, is Frenchman's...a winner. The #1 primo reason for going to Frenchman's is the diversity of the crowd. Airline employees, quasi-homeless, hipsters, kickball teams, semi pro pool players, wannabe gang bangers, regular Joes, and the occasional police officer. Frenchman's really has it all. Especially if you like to drink. The service is usually very good as long as your'e not a total jizmop who doesn't tip and starts fights. If you are that kind of person, don't come here, since you are likely to get a beer bottle to the face. And let's be frank...you'd deserve it. The men's bathroom fits 1.5, which is a nice community-style touch since you know if you are a guy that you will meet at least one new person each time you have to pee. A few beers on tap, a greasy-spoon style menu with good burgers, Heggies pizza, and some good fryer food round out the best Richfield bar experience available. If you are nearby and want to increase your blood alcohol level along with your cholesterol, stop by and have a few. They are open until 2AM most nights, unless nobody is in there. Kitchen closes by midnight, but by then most patrons are too soused to order much food. Just make sure that you like country music. The regulars here take the jukebox seriously; play whatever you want, but be ready to use the "play mine first" option every time and still end up listening to the same six "contemporary country" music songs.

Nick M.

Yelp
I like dive bars in general, but this place didn't add up for me. The joint is one big room, with cheap card tables and chairs and though they had a TV with the Wolves game on, the TV looked to be about 10+ years old and the picture wasn't great. They have pool tables but you might find yourself putting a patron's eye out as you try to take a shot. As I tried to order a beer upon arriving, I had to wait for a while before the bartenders even had a moment to tend to customers right there at the small bar. It's probably better to get a seat and then order through the server, but that can be chaotic when the place is busy. Furthermore, they have Summit and some other stuff but for the most part the place serves domestic swill by the pitcher load. I put $7 in the jukebox and the only song I heard was the one I used the 'play now' function to promote. Instead of hearing my songs (and I was there for a long time after playing them, hanging out with some people), we endured some awful country-pop music on and on droning and killing the vibe. It felt like we were in some roadhouse in Alabama. Towards the end of the night some dude puked all over the tiny and rank men's bathroom. I won't be back, Frenchman's.

Daniel R.

Yelp
Frenchman's is one of those fun dive bars with decent enough burgers. The service is not the speediest but it's cheap. Typical burger bar food. This has been around forever and is a fun place to go grab a drink after work or a burger during lunch.

Jacey B.

Yelp
A very random, fun crowd. Pool tables, video games, dive bar feel, good drink specials. I have never had the food but many people I know complement the burgers. It's always lively and busy.

Jason A.

Yelp
I have been enjoying cheeseburger baskets at Frenchman's for more years than I'd like to count. I don't live nearby but love to swing in if I am around for hockey gamesSimple... Always the same. The burgers are "greasy spoon" favorites from my childhood.

Annie S.

Yelp
I have many fine memories here. In fact, most of my social circle either met here, or met through someone we met here. You might even say, there was a time when I made a significant contribution to the monthly utility bills. Being the only bar truly in "walking distance", this is a very popular spot for the East Richfield locals. Food is decent, and there are a few things that are really great, like the club sandwich. Drinks are pretty cheap, especially during happy hour. They sell pull tabs, have pinball, video games, a Juke Box, and 3 pool tables - so there's plenty to entertain you. Very popular with the younger crowd on weekend nights, it can get loud and a bit rowdy, but some people find that part of Frenchman's charm.

Caitie D.

Yelp
I love me a good hole in the wall restaurant! They have great food, cheap drinks, and a dive-bar atmosphere. What more could you ask for?

Rob H.

Yelp
I spent some of the roughest and some of the best nights of the last year drinking here. All sentiment aside, Frenchman's has most of the elements that make the greatest of great dive bars, yet hasn't quite put them together. They have small gross bathrooms with hook and eye "locks", old TVs, ancient 4-top tables that have chunks of laminate missing, a wall a/c unit, $8 pitchers of beer that come with 12oz frosty mugs, greasy fried food, a couple beat up old 6' pool tables that are about $1 to play, and surly regulars and staff. The only element that's out of touch about the whole place is the jukebox. Every time I've been there almost everybody I'm with (including myself) puts money in the thing, we're there for hours, sometimes even closing the place down, and never hear the songs we paid for. I swear people get there and dump their whole check in the thing on about 8 hours of songs, which wouldn't be that bad IF it wasn't all sappy pop country. The place is small enough that you actually can hear the jukebox, unlike bigger places (which also adds to the dive bar feel) and it would be nice to actually hear the songs you paid for.

Justin I.

Yelp
Best dive bar ever. Burgers are amazing!! Order a burger basket with fries and you won't be disappointed. They also have Heggies pizza which always hits the spot. The main bar tenders are awesome! Great place.

Ryan F.

Yelp
Great bar, The bar is locally owned and operated. I love knowing that when I walk into this bar that I will always find friendly people to play a game of pool with or to sit down and watch the game on TV. They do have really great burgers and the service is as fast as it comes... I can not say enough about this bar. A+ on my list...

Paul O.

Yelp
This place is awesome. Everything one could want in a dive bar. Cheap drinks, good food and interesting people. I personally like going around 4:00 after work on a Thursday.

Great S.

Yelp
Cool dive bar with good eats. If you're looking for a place to just hang out & have a beer/drink this is the place. As an out of towner this was a cool local spot to check out.
