We were pleasantly surprised by this place. We popped in on a Thursday afternoon after arriving in town, and pretty much had the place to ourselves. Our server, Shelley, was super sweet. The food was really, really good! We tried to go back on Saturday, but it was packed with a special event that had rented the place out. Our last night in town (Monday) is the only day they're closed - or we'd have gone back again.

Google
Nice spot with a great view, especially if you sit outside! The Calamari, crab cakes, and hushpuppies were delicious! The grill shrimp was okay, but had a little bit of a metallic taste. The hostess and our waitress were great, very friendly and accommodating! Our waitress was very attentive, sweet, and calm.

Had some time off from work to have a PROPER lunch so I looked this place up and gave them a shot. Coming from the main road traveling down the side road to get to the restaurant is a beautiful sight! I love the location over the water! Once I got in there was no waiter present, so I seated myself. There were only 3 active tables with guest with ONE waiter. After 15 mins she came and got my order and brought me some water. Well once I got my food 30 mins later, my appetizer was cold, complete cold! I only have maybe an half hour before I get back to work so I just kept the dish. The batter on the tomatoes were very bland! Like it didn't taste like anything. The shrimp were very dry as well. Once I got my grilled shrimp plate, I thought I was in for a treat but .... I was wrong! The plate was extremely hot so I'm preeeeettttyy sure they nuked the dish before bringing it to me because my food was like warm. The BEST thing I had out of my 2 dishes were the Hushpuppies, if they would season their batter like the hushpuppies this place would be jumping!!!! As always let's take the time and apply some more love in the kitten crew.

Had the filet mignon with veggies and baked potato. The steak was amazing, and cooked perfectly with my request of a rare cook. The veggies, the zucchini was cooked to liking, the broccoli was too mushy for my liking. The baked potato was cooked perfectly, and was a loaded baked potato. We chose to sit outside and enjoyed the view of the lake

Google
I had the whole flounder. It was cut and fried then stuffed with crab and crawfish cream sauce the flounder had a moist center with a good crust. The seasoned vegetables where zucchini and yellow squash with broccoli, veggies where soft and seasoned well. Also had the Bacon wrapped shrimp where deep-fried sitting on a bed of lettuce with a spicy tartar sauce.

We just came here for a wedding last weekend and it was a beautiful place. We tried a wide range of food since it was buffet style and everything was good! Seafood was hot and fresh, salads were good (loved the dressings), bar made quick drinks and the views were really nice. All the girls that worked the wedding were super sweet!

Google
Nice restaurant on the lake. I ordered the catfish plate with fries and hush puppies. Can't go wrong with that. It was really good. Sat on the balcony with a great view of the lake and a nice breeze. Customer service was really good as well offering different suggestions that I might enjoy. Overall, great place.

Google
Place feels out in the middle of nowhere but it's really nice. Great service and delicious food. The oysters were delicious and the filet was perfectly cooked

Yelp
The food was excellent and we were a group of 22 people and they were able to serve and accommodate in a fast manner.

Yelp
So we had a swamp tour at 2:15. We needed food first. We came to Frenier Landing at about 1:30. First off all, beautiful location, right at the edge of the lake! There is some outdoor seating, and great views if you happen to get a seat by the window. We were seated and our order taken in about 5 min. For Louisiana, our food came out, relatively quickly, at around 1:50. We also asked for the bill immediately, just so we could make a fast exit when finished. The food itself was great! I got the oyster po boy, all dressed, and it was well fried. My mother got the grilled chicken sandwich, and noted that the fresh pepper was delicious and the chicken was well cooked. My father got the crab cake sandwich and also loved it, particularly the sauce added to it. Definitely a nice place to stop if you're not in a hurry! And we did make it to the swamp tour in time.

Yelp
This place was recommended from the captain of our swamp tour. It is a beautiful location with a wonderful view. The food wasn't bad either! We ordered oysters, fried calamari, burger, crab dip and bbq shrimp. Everything was delicious except for the crab dip. Which tasted microwaved :( But I would highly recommend to come check it out even if it's just for the view!

Yelp
Tried to go tonight. Yelp and sign at restaurant says open Sundays until 6:00. I arrived at 4:55 and it was deserted. I'm very disappointed. Really wanted to try it. Hopefully, they will update their hours.

Yelp
Love coming here when I'm passing through ! This place is always reliable to have consistent good food and great service! This place has become an exciting stop for us and we always enjoy our food and time here !

Yelp
We were a little nervous after some of the reviews but we were very happy with our visit. We had the crawfish kickers, grilled & stuffed catfish and the seafood platter. Everything was delicious and seasoned perfectly. (We're sensitive to too much salt and this wasn't an issue for us) The staff was attentive and friendly and the location was really nice.

Yelp
We were excited to be in such an interesting spot. The restaurant is a huge building right on the lake. We sat outside and enjoyed a delicious red fish dinner. Everything tasted great, everything was cooked perfectly. We also had bacon wrapped shrimp, a first for us and it was very good. Flan for dessert, so delicious. It was Easter and lots of families were getting together there for dinner. It was a super experience on Lake Pontchartrain.

Yelp
Bland onion rings, rancid crab cake. Fish tacos returned. I should have just walked out when I had the chance. The reason why I went was for Adam Pearce. But it was rained out, and we went the next night.

Yelp
Excellent options for seafood! Really great cocktails and a wonderful staff. The chargrilled oysters are really good too.

Yelp
Decided to try something new and came here. We waited 20 minutes for seats with a reservation. Then waited another 25 minutes before the waiter decided to ask for our drink orders. About 10 minutes later we put our food orders in. The appetizers came after 30 minutes. The chargrilled oysters were not up to standard and lacked flavor. After another hour and 15 minutes our food finally came. Food was just okay and was expecting better. Other than that the atmosphere was pretty nice including good music but at the end of the day the service and food ruined the experience for us. Also the food is extremely over priced. 21 bucks for a burger is absolutely insane.
google avatar

Rose T.

Yelp
My husband and I walked here from Zip Nola to get a bite and a drink while we waited for our taxi back to the city. It's so beautiful and they have a ton of outdoor seating. It overlooks Lake Pontchartrain and the view is just stunning. We just got the calamari and I got some champagne and my husband got a beer. Their prices are very reasonable and the service was good.

Yelp
Was here for a cast party a few months ago and don't really have much to fuss or rave about. First time here, but it was at night so you couldn't see the view (I'm sure it's fabulous!) and they had stayed open late for the cast party specifically. We had chicken tenders, macaroni and cheese and fish fingers. The macaroni was great as was the fish fingers. The chicken tenders tasted like they were purchased on the frozen food aisle at Sam's though. Service was good as they put up with us until well after midnight and we were rowdy! Would likely return during normal business hours (preferably during the day) to try the full experience.

Yelp
Went here for lunch with a really large group(25 people). We called about an hour ahead of time and they prepared tables very quickly but were not prepared on the food front. I got the crawfish poboy; it was very good-wanted to try it since we were in New Orleans. There was a restaurant side and a more casual side which was cute. They forgot 3 of our groups food, when they realized and asked us again they apologized and said they would bring it right out...30 minutes later still nothing. We asked again and they would not produce it, with little to no explanation, they offered us different options for food but would not tell us why we couldn't get what we ordered. We were there for about 2 1/2 hour. It was absolutely ridiculous and when we were leaving they gave us sweet potato fries. Our waiter told us he wanted to leave with us saying there was a problem in the kitchen. They need to get it together, bad experience.

Yelp
Check out this beautiful lakefront restaurant. Takes reservations. Live music on weekends. Tried the Pontchartrain salad which was loaded with crabmeat and delicious! Hubby had the seafood platter and has lunch for tomorrow too. Excellent service and attentive management. We will definitely return.
google avatar

Yelp
I was skeptical due to mediocre reviews, but was pleasantly surprised. The fried green tomatoes were tart and delicious. I got the fried seafood platter and everything was fried perfectly. The seafood wasn't dry. I wish the fries were fried a little longer. My girlfriend ordered the crab cakes and they were average. Overall it was a good meal. The service was great and the the view is beautiful, so that's a plus.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. Nice location on Lake and can view moon sets in late afternoon. Just plain lovely. Visited twice and will be back.
google avatar

Dazia R.

Yelp
Rancid sweet tea. Cloudy ice. Scorched crawfish Mac and cheese. Flavorless fried seafood platters. I have nothing else to say. Oh the fried bacon wrapped shrimp was the only thing that was good bc it's bacon. Service was okay he was attentive. It's a cute place open airy. The food just not worth the price.
google avatar

Yelp
The shrimp Tasso soup was 4/5 (salty). Fried shrimp over cooked. Fries cold. BBQ shrimp were swimming in liquid and had to be peeled, a messy situation. The bread was good. Server was nice, she made up for the food.

Yelp
We made the mistake of choosing Frenier's Landing again after not being here since Covid. Made a reservation for 7pm, got there and hostess said we don't have you down...I told her they took my phone number down...then she says I am not saying we can't serve you, just go sit and wait. The place was packed, noise level made it hard to have conversation, service very poor. My husband ordered the mixed seafood platter. After an 1.5 hours food brought out cold. Would not recommend this place at all.

Beth T.

Yelp
We stopped for an early dinner on our way home. The place was not crowded but we waited 15 minutes for someone to seat us. Not a big deal but first impressions! We ordered a pretty simple meal, my husband got an appetizer and wedge salad and I ordered 1 pound of boiled shrimp. His came out quickly but mind took an additional 30 minutes. When it arrived it looked like BBQ shrimp and was spicy as the menu advertised that dish to be. I asked twice and they assured me it was boiled shrimp. I could not eat it due to It be so spicy hot! They did comp the entree but I hope they explain more on the menu of how their boiled shrimp are prepared.

Beth M.

Yelp
Frenier Landing was a great find. We went for a family lunch on Sunday. The view was beautiful. Our waiter made great suggestions and promptly served us. The food was reasonable priced for the amount and quality. The family ordered charred broiled oysters, and barbecue shrimp both really good. We will be returning again in the very near future. We wanted to try the whole flounder that looked great, and the onion rings for next time! They even had a band playing while we were there!

Leslie L.

Yelp
Great food, great views of Lake Pontchartrain and friendly staff. I would recommend it and can't wait to visit again.
google avatar

Yelp
Nice little place off the beaten path with a river view if you sit outside (I would recommend a reservation if you want to sit outside). Hubs randomly found this place so we checked it out on a weekend. Heads up as with every other place in America right now the service is a little more extended but we were meeting with another party so we didn't mind but if you are in a rush I would not recommend. The food was fresh and came out fast. The portion of the alligator sausage is skimpy so I would personally skip that. The boiled shrimp was pretty taste. The seafood dishes we had tasted really fresh which one would hope being so close to the water. Overall this would be a nice restaurant for a date or just wanting a restaurant with a view.

Yelp
Very salty food. I was pleased with the staff and the service. Great location although the parking was a little tricky.

Yelp
Don't waste your time or gas driving from New Orleans. We were seated for about 15 minutes before someone from the wait staff acknowledged our presence. The waitress took our order for drinks, waters, and appetizers at the same time. The appetizers arrived before our water or beer. We ordered alligator sausage and bacon wrapped shrimp. The shrimp were heavily battered and NOT wrapped in bacon. Neither appetizer tasted good. We had to ask another server to find our waitress so we could order dinner. I had to ask, for the second time, about water. We placed our entree order. Both dishes were lack-luster. The staff, when available, were friendly. Service was poor, food was over priced and bland. We never did receive a glass of water. I will not be returning.

Yelp
The food is overpriced for taste, quality, and portion size. I ordered the eggplant napoleon with crabmeat stuffing. Please see pic. When I asked if it's supposed to have crabmeat, the waitress said yes, and went to talk to kitchen, they said it's in the stuffing in the middle. $23 waste. Not To mention the salt in the dish was absent and the sauce was very little with no flavor. The gumbo had a weird taste and one single shrimp for $10. The kids only ate their fries. My 3 yo who eats EVERYTHING, took one bite of the chicken tender and refuse to eat the rest. The fried fish platter, we asked for it grilled instead...it was salty and one single fillet with a bunch of fries. The fried green tomatoes...the breading on the tomato was quite strange. The crabmeat and shrimp on top was okay. The charbroiled oysters were so tiny and only okay. Overal, $150 with tip...definitely not worth it. I'm not sure who the chef is in the kitchen but don't waste your time or your money. Service was decent though.

Yelp
99 degrees with 125 heat index and you're only seating outside seating?!?!?!????? You have got to be kidding me.

Yelp
Hidden away a few miles from the interstates is Frenier Landing a jewel of a restaurant with expansive views of Lake Pontchartrain and a menu of seafood and local favorites to please. Frienier Landing has plentiful seating inside and outside, with a live band playing from 1 - 4pm on Sundays. We also noticed they could easily accommodate private groups. On our visit we started with an appetizer of Crawfish Kickers which were hush puppies prepared with plentiful amounts of crawfish inside! Every bite was an exquisite delight! For entrees we enjoyed a platter of HUGE barbecue shrimp. By huge I mean Gigantic Shrimp in a generously tasty barbecue sauce. We also devoured their blackened catfish stuffed with crabmeat and hush puppies! Frenier Landing is an excellent restaurant, I highly recommend to couples seeking an intimate night out and small groups of friends celebrating. I look forward to my next visit here to sample more of the menu.

Yelp
Amazing food and great view. I had the blackend red fish with a Cajun sauce that was out of this world. The ice cold oysters were delicious as well.
google avatar

Breaynn T.

Yelp
Bloody Mary was delicious!! Forgot to get a before picture lol. It was nicely shaken and added the right spices. Very delicious! We got the fried green tomatoes again and they were great! I got the eggplant napoleon & boyfriend got the stuffed flounder. Love the location and the atmosphere.

Yelp
Today we made a trip to Frenier Landing. A beloved chef lost her business to Hurricane Ida so she has been hired to do her daily specials at this restaurant which is a very nice place on the shores of Lake Pontchatrain back of LaPlace. They took on some damage but we're on the mends and serving very good dishes. I went for the fried chicken done by Cheryl Burger. I have eaten her cooking for 35 years. So off we went. She does not disappoint. The breast was so moist and fried to perfection. My husband got the daily special of Redfish. It was beautifully plated cooked to perfection with a side of steamed yellow and green squash with broccoli cooked to perfection. The fish was done not over cooked. I would highly recommend the place for a nice lunch or dinner.

Sarah T.

Yelp
Food was great.. atmosphere was awesome.. off the beaten patch and on the water.. really hard to beat! Service was a little slow but it was a Saturday and there were some really big groups being waited on too.. they have a brunch buffet menu on Sundays too..
google avatar

Layla R.

Yelp
Food is AWESOME! always great service! The atmosphere is unique. My family and I love eating there.
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
A local favorite no doubt, the shrimp kickers were amazing as were the oysters. I ordered the catfish poboy which was ok, there was an abundance of other dishes that would have better fit the bill, but will return sometime to try those. Excellent location and service.
google avatar

Andi F.

Yelp
I had done the Zip tour nearby and was getting pretty hangry. I noticed this was close so I came in. It is right on the lake and is raised, but there is a handicap ramp. Restaurant to the left, oyster bar to the right. The restaurant is light and airy. Wait staff was friendly. I got the crab cakes and the vanilla cake with caramel. All of it was amazing. They were right on the beverage refills for water and the soft drink. Everything was so clean. I will be back if I am in the area.
google avatar

Jay S.

Yelp
It's a great atmosphere overlooking the lake. Good food and service. The staff are always working hard to keep things moving along, and it's not easy given this place gets a large crowd most night.
google avatar

Christine S.

Yelp
My husband dined at Frenier Landing today for lunch and he was disappointed. In the past the service was wonderful and the food delish. This time it was not too good. He and his guest ordered two appetizers, two salad entrees, water and three beers. The appetizers were shrimp wrapped in bacon (ok), crawfish hush puppies (pretty good). Then on to lunch. His client ordered the spinach salad with shrimp. My husband ordered the caesar's salad and added a chicken breast ($12 just for the breast). This is where it went downhill. Not only did the waitress not refill the water glasses, but the chicken breast was chewy and tough. My husband is not a complainer so when he said the chicken was bad, it was bad. He told the waitress that she might not want to serve any other chicken to another guest. She did not offer to replace his salad nor change the protein, no apology, nothing. Instead she came back to the table with the check - over $84 not including tip! Unfortunately he will not be returning unless something changes with the staff and the cooked chicken breast.

Mznick N.

Yelp
Delicious stuffed flounder!! We also love the wedge salad & Fried Green tomatoes! Love the soulful Sundays!

Yelp
I was passing through and stopped for a meal. I was just not impressed with anything about the place except the view. The servers was kind of slow and not attractive, the food was average at best, and the table was sticky. Just not for me much less at the price.
google avatar

Hope C.

Yelp
I like this place! The food was fresh and tasty. There was a live band playing and they were good. Beautifully nestled on the shore of Lake Pontchartrain the view is both captivating and calming. Overall, I was pleased and enjoyed my Solo Sunday.

John P.

Yelp
Great view. Draft beer was a win! My entree was pan fried redfish. So over cooked I couldn't cut it with a knife. 1 star. Mashed potatoes were good. Squash was good. Too bad. I was expecting much better food. Service was good. And friendly.
google avatar

Jeff L.

Yelp
Great food I got Frenier's Pasta with crab meat and I stole half of one of my wife's fried Soft Shell Crabs excellent
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
If I could give zero stars, I would. Let me start off by saying our waitress was very friendly. Drove 45 minutes and got cold food, slow service and a half hearted apology with an offer of comped dessert but why would we want to wait there any longer? We ordered appetizers, the crawfish balls were amazing, the calamari was mostly breading and hard. My father in laws tea tasted old, we all know this happens no biggie. The soup lacked seasoning unfortunately but nothing a little salt and hot sauce didn't fix. After our appetizers were cleared, 45 minutes later we FINALLY received our food. COLD . 3/4 of our plates were cold, my father in law ate quickly, my mil and I politely asked for our food to be reheated. 20 minutes later they came back out with the same food but hot this time. The crab cake is mostly mushy breading and crab was chewy. Bonus chunk of shell to top it off, chunk not flake of shell.
google avatar

Charmaine S.

Yelp
Stopped by after zip lining at zip Nola. One of the guides highly recommended this restaurant and it did not disappoint. First off the Moscow mule was made to perfection. The gumbo was tasty. The fried calamari, fried craw fish could have been fried harder but overall it was a great entree. Fried green tomatoes had a great flavor and the blue cheese bacon salad was good as well.
google avatar

Heather K.

Yelp
Guys, if you're driving into New Orleans and have an oyster fix without the crazy crowds, THIS IS THE PLACE. First we had an AMAZING waitress, (Olivia) so attentive, quick on her feet and giving us tourists great recs to go into New Orleans. And also, MAN these OYSTERS did NOT have even a HINT of fishiness at all. These abd boys were FRESH and came out so quicklyy. All the fixings you would need on the side. We also got the blackened shrimp platter which was also perfectly charred and my sister got the crab cake platter. Coming towards the restaurant we were slightly skeptical but as we got closerr, their parking lot was nearly full. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
I was headed out to LaPlace to drop something off to someone. I searched yelp looking for somewhere to have an early lunch with my son. I decided to give this place a try. The view is great. Sadly it was cold and rainy that day so we couldn't sit outside. The view from the window was real nice though. I got raw oysters and boiled shrimp. The oysters were deliciously salty and fresh. The shrimp were really big and had a string iodine taste. The seasoning on them was great though. My son had fried fish and fries. Both were delicious. I got a side order of potato salad because my son loves it. It was sweeter than would I would make, but it was still really good. My son ate it up! The building is nice. The decor is good for they type of place it is. I'm going to be back for sure.

Yelp
Food was good! Such a great location- definitely a place to go when it's not ok hit and sit in the deck!

Yelp
Excellent redfish special with a nice view over the water. Promo service. Will go back

Yelp
We decided to have my son's rehearsal dinner at Frenier Landing. Just let me say I was blown away. We had a tasting a month before our event. Crystal was so clear about everything they offer. She made the process so easy and relaxed. She stated "let us know what we can do for y'all". So the rehearsal dinner was last night. Everything she explained at the tasting was spot on for the dinner. The staff greeted us with "can we help y'all with the decorations", "do y'all need any tables for the entry", and " would y'all like anything to drink". The servers came around with appetizers. Then when all the guest were there we had buffet style. The food was exactly what we picked for our menu. The food was delicious, hot and everyone was talking about how good everything was. We had food left over and they boxed it up for us. Lainey and Olivia were our servers and so very sweet and kind with beautiful smiles on the cute faces. Crystal "kudos to you" for a great staff and managing a great restaurant. I have a big mouth "so word of mouth" is my goal to tell people about the restaurant and service. Top notch. Thanks again

Yelp
So sorry I have to leave this review. This place has always been a go to for us. Live the view and ambiance. Today was a huge disappointment. Brought my son and his girlfriend during their visit from California. EVERYTHING was cold including the room. We started with cocktails.. they were ok but very sweet Glad we got them though because our meal took very long to come out. As a matter of fact we began noticing that other tables that arrived and ordered after us were all served and we hadn't been. Waitress apologized for delay when food finally arrived. My son ordered fish tacos. There was a small strip of fish on each one. The fish was dehydrated to the point of being Jerky. There was one slice of avocado which was cut as thin as one could possibly cut it. This was on a huge supermarket tortilla. Served with frozen sweet potato fries. Girlfriend ordered Oysters Frenier. Fried oysters topped with a gloopy, Velveeta style sauce. Both cold. She also had Fried Green Tomatoes served over creamy spinach and topped with fried shrimp and crab. Sounds great right. Not. The spinach was so cold it congealed onto the plate. Couldn't get past that. Husband ordered soft shell crab poboy with onion rings. Again all cold and onion rings were very salty. I had the best dish though. It was Crab and Corn Bisque. A little bland but overall passable flavor. The soup was served at room temperature which really took away from an otherwise okay dish. As the waitress picked up our payment she said, "thanks for your patience". Even she realized the issue. If this had been my first visit, I wouldn't return but I have had good food and service prior to this. Here's hoping everyone was just having an off day.
