Saturday night, as a solo female I had to deal with an insecure and powertripping bouncer who tried to not let me in allegedly due to lack of space...but contradicted himself by almost allowing a group to get in after I arrived. The truth is to his eyes I didn't fit the crowd. He was trying to pick a fight with me just so he had a more formal reason to block me access. I remained calm and confident by stating that I will be patient as I understand that it is a busy Saturday night. He got upset and declared that I do no chose as HE is the one in charge. This is when I calmly proved my point by stating that I did not contradict him and indeed It was his choice ( about him REALLY having the power to decide who gets in, so no such things as too crowded for a solo patron) and he was the one who just kept on arguing just to save face. After 3 minutes, he searched my bag for a second time(!) and let me in.
Once inside, great DJ, cool ambiance and polite bartenders. I stayed longer than planned, which is a good sign. I personally love the vinyl aspects. This bar was recommended to me by few bartenders in Paris. One did warn me that this venue started to get more bad feedback. Welcoming people at the entrance is key as it sets the mood. That being said, I will make sure to visit Frequence again on a different night hoping to have better service ( and no 'goonish' attitude at the door)!
