"Bethesda-based Fresh Baguette is firing up the ovens in Old Town (1101 King Street) starting today. Fresh Baguette, known for flaky croissants, a solid line-up of sandwiches, and of course fresh baguettes uses a cold-dough process, housemade “levain,” and French baking equipment." - Stephanie Carter

I work in the area and Doordash this place at least once a week. With Christmas coming up, I wanted to share the experience with my family. Unfortunately, I fell ill and had to have a friend pick it up so I'm disappointed I still haven't physically been to this place, but the lemon meringue is amazing and well worth the price. The mini raspberry tart is also great, along with the baguettes and Nutella croissants. 10/10!

This is now my place for fresh bread! Their sourdough loaf is phenomenal. The only drawback is one-third the loaf is gone shortly after I bring it home (I can’t help myself). Tip: get it sliced, then separate the slices before freezing (the slices tent to stick together by the time you get it home).

I loved my experience at Fresh Baguette! I purchased a breakfast sandwich and it was delicious - very flaky and buttery. I also had a great Oatmilk Latte. The trainee that assisted me was so kind and knowledgeable. I will be back!

If I could give this place more than 5 stars, I would. It definitely deserves it. Everything from the sandwiches to their bread is amazing. I dont think I've had better. They really do put their oassion into this. The breakfast sandwich is one of the best I've had, very flavorful. The staff is very friendly and informative of everything. Im fron out of town and cannot wait to come back and get more.

I can’t say enough amazing things about French Baguette in Old Town! I use them regularly for catering and my clients are always wowed. Oliver the GM and his right hand man John (and team) practice white glove service, and for that I am so grateful. They have created a bespoke experience as you would want in the heart of Old Town. The food is amazing. Everyone swoons over the cro’gel’s, macaroons, the mini pastries, the ham & cheese croissants, quiche, really anything we order! Thank you, French Baguette for doing such a great job!

Google
Oliver was super helpful and even offered to let us try a free sample for our first time coming in! The food was yummy and the atmosphere was pristine. I will definitely come back for another Sunny Side Up Croi-gel!

This is one of the best bakeries I have visited in the area. The baguettes are top notch along with all their other treats I've tried....especially the almond croissant! Their coffees are pretty good too. This past week they started a passport promotion where you can try different weekly treats and you get a stamp for each treat you get. Depending on the number of stamps you get at the end of the promotion, you can get various prizes in the form of treats! So I will certainly be filling up my passport! The staff are always super kind and the place is just a very chill place to hang with a friend. As for dates, I say it's a perfect place for a first or second date.

Google
A very nice French bakery in Old Town Alexandria. I've had the Quiche Lorraine for breakfast as well as other assorted pastries. All were excellent. This is a great shop that I frequent whenever I stay in the area. I don't think you'd find a disappointed customer. Yummy!

Yelp
I absolutely adore Fresh Baguette's ham and cheese croissant and their mini tarts. The service is good. I never dine in because it's so small inside. I've tried everything except the sandwiches. However, I have used their crogel in my own homemade sandwiches, and I recommend it. The only downside is that the staff at King Street will put uncovered pastries on a shelf near the floor, and then they sweep the floor around them, kicking up dust and dirt around the tray of uncovered food stuffs. That's gross and unsafe food handling. Hopefully they fix that because otherwise this place is fabulous.

Yelp
An unexpected rude customer service experience with David and another gentlemen who I didn't catch name. I asked for a sandwich to be reheated which was refused. The specific language was "I not doing do that". I made my own solution by asking to by another banquette by itself that was warm. He sold it to me and I put the sandwich on the heated bread myself. Keep in mind.I had to purchase a new bread. They could have cared less. It was so unprofessional and I'm not sure why we specifically were treated this way. The pic is the cold half the sandwich was original on.

Yelp
Amazing. The pastries were unreal and the cro'gel was so good. Highly recommend. Super friendly staff.

Yelp
Fresh Baguette is one of the cafes/restaurants that makes me feel lucky that I live in the DMV area! If I lived anywhere else, I'd bookmark it and keep craving for it and wish to visit the area and try! Thank God they are here where I live! :) I've a very detailed review of their products at the McLean location, which was my first interaction with the chain! The only bad thing with Fresh Baguette is that they aren't everywhere !! You guys better expand! lol Of course, the Crogel is an invention by all means! Don't miss it!!! The Brew Club is a must. If you work or live near any of their locations for about $11-$12, you get 5 espresso drinks per day every day during the month! It pays itself after 2 or 3 drinks! Very good quality! It's not the best espresso, to be honest, but it's not bad either! ( Yeah, you guys need better beans!) Old town Alexandria is my favorite spot in the U.S. !! I feel connected! I feel home, and I feel beauty and love, so I love it when my favorite chains open there! I can say this is my favorite Fresh Baguette location! Staff are very friendly, and the standards of Fresh Baguette chain are obviously enforced here! Love it I love the outdoor seats when weather permits, or I love sitting next to the window during the cold or too hot weather One more thing I wish if Fresh Baguette could pay attention to is the Parisian ( Ham & Cheese ) , I wish if they use more French brand like the Madrange and Comté or Gruyère and not the Swiss! The sandwich will be in a totally different rank! Because really they have the best Baguette ever and use good butter, so why not make it the best?? ;) Please consider it! Try it, vote for the review , message me, or compliment me with any comment or question, and don't forget to ... Pray for me ;)

Yelp
Fresh Baguette in Alexandria, Virginia, beckons with the allure of a Parisian market, its shelves overflowing with crusty baguettes, decadent pastries, and a treasure trove of imported French delights. Long lines snake around the shop, testaments to its popularity, but the efficient staff keeps things moving at a brisk pace. My recent visit, however, was a tale of two experiences, ultimately landing at a 4-star rating. The draw is undeniable. From buttery croissants to artisanal cheeses, Fresh Baguette offers a symphony of French flavors, a mini-Eiffel Tower rising amidst the bustle of Alexandria. And for the budget-conscious gourmand, the prices on foie gras mousse and pork pate sing a sweeter tune than a Parisian street musician. Even Amazon pales in comparison. But amidst the promise, inconsistency lurked. My ham and cheese croissant, the supposed star of the show, arrived more oil-laden than expected, its buttery layers lacking the coveted crackle. My cappuccino, while competent, failed to ignite the passion of a perfectly pulled Parisian shot. And then there was the bread, the very soul of a French bakery. The Parisian baguette, the crown jewel, shattered my dreams of crusty perfection with its rock-solid reality. Even reheating couldn't coax it back to life. The sourdough, though hopeful with its golden crust, harbored a dense, potentially stale interior that left me yearning for the airy tang of a true sourdough soul. So, Fresh Baguette stands at a crossroads. Its strengths - the swift service, the delectable pantry finds, the siren song of affordability - are undeniable. But the inconsistencies in its core offerings, the baked goods that are supposed to be its heart and soul, leave a lingering question mark. Perhaps it was an off day, a momentary lapse in the boulangerie's rhythm. Perhaps another visit will yield the symphony of flavors I crave. For now, Fresh Baguette remains a place of potential, a charming boulangerie with a touch of Parisian flair. If you venture in, I suggest focusing on the pantry's treasures and giving the pastries another chance, hoping for a fresher, crispier rendition. With a little more consistency, Fresh Baguette could truly live up to its name, becoming a haven for French food lovers in the heart of Alexandria. Just remember, a truly great croissant should never leave you feeling blue.

Yelp
We came in late but there were still many goodies. As we were just looking for a small bite before dinner, our choice fell on the almond croissant. It was pretty good, flaky and how the filling tasted. There was just the right amount of almond extract in it. However, the filling was just a little for that big croissant. I'd have loved a little more. The ambiance is ok. The bright white light are less inviting and flattering on the baked goods. I find it a little odd how the baked goods were displayed as the display items were dried out and not too appealing. Prices are ok for these beautiful pastries.

Yelp
Wow! What a cute little bakery. I have never seen anything like this before. I don't know, because I have never been to France, but it felt very French. Loafs of bread lining the walls, beautiful display cases full of delicate pastries that you only really see on Netflix. Quaint, cute, with a nice aroma wafting throughout. We walked in off the street one day, and started the immense task of browsing. We ended up picking three delectable-looking things. We started off with the obvious, Chocolate Éclair (A fluffy shell filling with chocolate pastry cream and topped with rich chocolate fondant). Delicate, perfect ooey gooey cream inside, and a nice pop of fondant with each bite, as well. Very good. Then I looked and saw the Cannelé (This ancient French treat is baked in a copper mold giving it a caramelized outer crust while remaining moist and spongy on the inside. Made with crepe dough with a hint of rum). This was a fun little thing. Compact, dense, but very moist and with that aforementioned crust on the outside. Never had anything like this. I was a fan! I finished off with the Kouign Amann (A tradition from the Brittany region of France. Buttery, flaky, sweet layers topped with a delicate caramel shell. The name translates to butter cake). This thing was wild. Not a ton of flavor, just a touch of sweetness from the caramel shell, but the flakes upon flakes upon flakes. Also never had anything like this before. Wow! Overall, this place was a wild ride. I am pretty sure I don't have anything like this near me, so I should have gone back and tried new things. Now I have reason to return to Alexandria.

Yelp
Tried my first delicious Crogel! Half bagel half croissant. Delicious with turkey, Avacado, tomato and Aioli. I should have gotten the smaller size and left room for dessert! This wasn't the best part. I was there maybe 20 minutes and the staff greeted at least 4 people by their first names and knew their "regular" before they ordered. What a wonderful neighborhood gem!

Lance O.

Yelp
First time here.. always in search of the "perfect" baguette.. to judge properly I always have a jambon fromage beurre baguette sandwich made... they were accommodating with my request with a smile...... très bon! (Suggest to add this to your menu..)

Yelp
Pros: Wonderful location that's very walkable no matter where you park in this Old Town area of town. The atmosphere is perfectly bakery as you walk in. You know what you are in for, and you can't wait to look at all of the options to purchase. An amazing selection, things for chocoholics, fruit lovers, bread lovers, and a few old school options you don't see around very much. Wonderful service. Very polite people who were always smiling. Cons: No critiques. Maybe that I wish there was an all you can eat option. Lol. Tips: Chocolate éclair, cannelé, kouign amann. All delicious. Get them all, and more.

Yelp
Came here with my boss for a coffee and a little snack before dinner. Decided to get the petit sunny side up sandwich. It was delicious. This place is not inexpensive however what we had was wonderful. I would absolutely go back. The inside is very clean just a little small and can be a bit loud if full. There are a few seats outside as well.

Yelp
The Parisian baguette was delicious and perfect! Amazing crunch and soft on the inside and it was steaming hot!

Yelp
This location has Beautiful desserts that are a work of art. They also sell items apparently from Europe and have fresh juices in a cooler fridge on the side. They also have sandwiches and whole loads of bread. The staff is friendly and tell me there are five locations in the mentor area. We got the salted caramel brioche which was light, flaky, and tasty and a vanilla latte which are both winners!

Yelp
I've been coming to this Fresh Baguette location since they opened up and have had the chance to try a vast majority of the menu. My favorites: - Traditional Baguette: Need I even explain this? It's just so good, especially when it's still warm. But, if you don't cover it well, it hardens fast. You can still bring it back to life, but it's best fresh. - Sourdough: My favorite non-baguette bread at Fresh Baguette. I keep a couple slices out and freeze the rest to eat fresh throughout the week. Just pop it in the toaster or air fryer and bam, good bread for the week. - Sunny Side Up Bacon Cro'gel: There's just something about the everything seasoning paired with the crispy, buttery, and flakey croissant bagel sandwiching the egg, bacon, avocado, and tomato. The oregano aioli is just the perfect flavor to tie the cro'gel all together. - Nutella Croissant: SO GOOD. If you love Nutella, you need to try this. I like the pieces of hazelnut on top of the croissant - the little bit of crunch elevates this croissant. I'm always sad when they're already sold out of this for the day. - Salted Caramel Brioche: This is a newer product that I was hesitant to try at first, but I'm so glad I did. The filling is just so amazing and I love the crackling sugary top of the brioche. It's become one of my favorites. - Flourless Brownie: A really good option if you're craving a brownie, fudge, or chocolate. - Morning Glory Vegan Muffin: If you love carrot cake, you'll love this. I get this muffin every time I'm craving carrot cake. You'd never even know it's vegan. - Napoleon: A classic and one of the first pastries I tried at Fresh Baguette. Always a good option when I don't know what else to order. I love the vanilla cream/custard with the flaky layers of the pastry. Best eaten fresh. - Raspberry Tart: A nice balance of sweet and tart. I love the crust. - Normande Tart: I almost never tried this because I'm not a huge fan of apples in pastries, but I gave it a try because Normandy is known for its apples. I'm so glad I did! This tart is so good thanks to its apples baked in custard. So delicious, especially with a cup of black coffee. My favorite drink here is the Americano. Friendly staff even when the place is swarming with people! David is the friendliest and always knows everyone by name! :) Expect long lines on weekend mornings. Order ahead if possible via their app.

Yelp
After the hubs was down sick for a couple of days, he was super excited to try a pain au chocolat here. He said it was as good as any he has tried anywhere. We also tried a kouign amann & cinnamon roll which were really tasty. Our son tried a butter croissant that he said was just right- flaky, buttery with just the right chew. The coffee was good, but it was the pastries that were the clear winners. My husband also bought a loaf of sourdough to bring home & he said it was delicious as well. The service was great & we enjoyed sitting outside at one of their tables. We both agree that it was a great way to start our Saturday morning!

Brian B.

Yelp
Pastry, pastry, and more pastries!! If you like coffee they have that too, and many pre-packages french treats for the kiddos or the kid in you, and yea bottled nectar! And if you speak French you can here too! Now this place is GOOD! I highly recommend it. And my one tip is to try something new. The Kouign Amant is A-MAZING!!!! Buttery, flaky, and sweet, you will want more than one I guarantee it. Enough said, if you're in or near Alexandria, VA stop by and thank me later.

Sandra B.

Yelp
This is a specific plug for their mini tarts: I popped in before they closed Saturday, hankering for sweets while trying to ease my guilty low-carb conscience lol. Queue the mini tarts: the cutest, two-bite pastries. I picked up 5 (see pic for flavors), and they satisfied all points in flavor variation, texture, sweetness and tartness. Best of all: They're small, so less guilt and more pleasure (at least in my mind... to be the equivalent of one large pastry with the variety of several). Wonderfully satisfying, and the closing associate was just as kind with accommodating service. Thanks, Fresh Baguette, for the post-shopping afternoon pick-me-up!

Brianne C.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch during a work trip after seeing Fresh Baguette the night before while exploring King Street. I was excited for the Parisian Baguette sandwich and it was delicious! Fresh baguette, butter, ham, and swiss cheese - the simple done well. I also ordered 2 pastries from the many options: a Sweet Lemon Bread and a mini Chocolate Caramel Tart. Both were good but not excellent - my baguette sandwich was the star. The staff kept the line moving during lunch rush. As others have noted, there is limited seating but I was on the move anyways. I did appreciate the glass cases displaying all of the different pastry options and pricing.

James M.

Yelp
Started as my wife's favorite stop on Saturday morning, now has become our favorite stop. Customer service is always friendly & helpful, they work hard to keep the line moving when busy. We have tried several different items over our visits and always enjoyed what we ordered. My wife's favorite is the chocolate croissants, she always orders, some to take home, one to eat at the shop. She does not miss a Saturday, unless we are out of town. We have started to try other items, everything is fresh and delicious. We enjoy the start to our weekend with fresh & delicious food, while enjoying our coffee. A will not miss when home.

Heather O.

Yelp
We stopped in while doing some shopping, and we loved it here. I ordered this pastry with chicken and mushrooms, and my mom ordered a breakfast bagel. We also took a croissant and fruit tart to go. Everything was delicious. The cherry on top was the coffee! Next, I MUST try their almond croissants, which were sold out by the time we wondered in. The service was good, and there was a steady flow of clients coming in. The bakery is small on the inside, but very cutesy decorated. There's also outside seating that's perfect during good weather. Parking in this area is typically street parking. This is definitely somewhere we'll visit again.

Jennie A.

Yelp
This review is solely for the kouign amann: don't get it. It was mushy, underbaked, clumsy lamination.. with the slightest amount of caramelization (that was soft?!). Normally Kouign Amanns are flaky, buttery, crispy, and the glaze is a mix of salt and sugar. The one here wasn't any of those things. It tasted like a Costco croissant. Really perplexed since all their goods look fantastic and technical. The vibe of the place is great; bustling energy, beautiful pastry display, and all the staff wear a pastry chef uniform which makes the place feel legit. I would come back for the bread, but use your discretion for the pastries. If it looks soft and deflated, don't get it.

Mei T.

Yelp
Excellent pastries and cappuccinos! We ordered the Kouign Amann and Almond Croissant to share and an Iced Vanilla Cappuccino & Iced Caramel Cappuccino. The pastries were fresh and oh so delicious! I didn't know what to expect from the Kouign Amann since I've never had it before, but what I can say is that it was ooey, gooey and so so yummy! The dense texture is almost like a cronut (croissant donut). While it looked sweet, it was just the right amount of sweetness. This was a truly delicious treat, and paired very well with my iced vanilla cappuccino, that was perfectly made and not too sweet. It had a hint of vanilla that was just right! The almond croissant was fresh and flaky, beautiful to look at and so satisfying to eat! I would be in so much trouble if I lived near a cafe like this! Very friendly service!

Ashley G.

Yelp
I specifically love their sourdough bread. I always like sourdough bread but it frequently doesn't actually taste sour to me, leaving me wondering what makes it so special. This sourdough has a distinctive tang that makes it flavorful and delicious. Love love love. Also their croissants and pastries are made really well with dozens of flaky layers of pastry, which isn't what you'll find at, say, Starbucks. The interior doesn't feel that welcoming to me though. No matter, I buy to take home. Staff is very friendly!

Kate Z.

Yelp
While I can't afford to eat here every day, I wish I could! The bread, THE BREAD! It's so fresh and perfectly crunchy. The Traditional sandwich was perfection with succulent salami, fresh butter and pickles. It was as if I bought it from a patisserie in Paris! I treated myself to a hazelnut eclair and a latte. What amazed me was the thin smattering of orange marmalade that MAKES this eclair so delectable. It's light and airy but still rich enough that a couple bites with do the job. You can't do better for an afternoon treat. Everything in the display case looked amazing. After being promptly greeted at the door, the service team answered my questions and helped me choose. Excellent service!

Judi R.

Yelp
Buttery delicious Apple danish & croissants ... I also purchased a small quiche, a baguette & coffee ... the staff was friendly , the store was clean & fresh...you can sit inside or outside ... I will come back to try more on the menu.

Reagan D.

Yelp
Wow, some of the most delicious pastries I've ever had!! The flavors in the Petit CroGel Norwegian were absolutely delicious. Very balanced in flavor and texture, with mixed greens adding freshness, but not overwhelming the salmon or pastry flavor. The Nutella Croissant was absolutely delicious as well, and very large. The hot cocoa was yummy as well (I got oat milk with extra vanilla). Everything in this shop looked amazing, I wish I could've gotten one of everything! Unfortunately, the prices are quite high here, but that is to be expected in an Old Town bakery, especially with goods as high quality as this. The restaurant had some small indoor and outdoor seating, which was nice. The employee who helped us was incredibly friendly, and they got our pastries and drinks right away! We were even given a free croissant, due to a small mix up--very kind! I will definitely be back in the future.

Tracy L.

Yelp
So many goodies! I always get an almond croissant from bakeries if available. I liked the almond croissant here, enough to get it twice in the 4 days I was in town. The croissant had a nice flaky exterior and soft interior. The filling was delicious, but I wish there was more. Within the two days, my bf liked the cinnamon roll, the Norwegian, chocolate croissant and ham & cheese croissant. He did think the two savory items were better than the sweets. Though, if the two sweets were warmed up, it could've elevated them.

Eric M.

Yelp
FB always has flaky pastries and delicious desserts. But today, when the night delivery truck didn't come through, John went above and beyond to find a creative way to fulfill my order. +1 great experience at FB. Thanks, John!

angela g.

Yelp
During my visit at Fresh Baguette, I tried the Quiche Lorraine ( a French tart with egg custard and ham). Although tasty, it's important to note that it didn't appear to be made fresh. It looked like much their egg based products were free made and cooked within a small oven. Although I didn't try their baked goods, they looked delicious and friends informed me they were very good. Parking is available on neighboring streets. If food and shopping, FB is in an ideal location. Service: Despited there being a long line when I entered FB, the one move rather quickly. Other: There are a number of food items and French cookies/crackers/spreads available for purchase.

Kip J.

Yelp
Very friendly. The coffee club is the best deal in town. Come for the great people stay for the tasty pastry!

Teri A.

Yelp
Most amazing bakery ever!!! Their plain croissants are out of this world delicious! As well as their sandwiches. Their breads and desserts look fantastic! Their wheat bread was hearty and delicious. Wish we had one location in San Jose, California.

Kayla H.

Yelp
Seating leaves a lot to be desired, but the cro'gels leave nothing more to be desired. We ordered a Parisian baguette and two pesto cro'gals. Amazing baked goods. We'll 100% be coming back. For quick bakery breakfasts in Old Town, this is our new go-to. The cro-gel isn't healthy, but it's delicious and unique enough that we'll probably put Fresh Baguette into our rotation of places we recommend to out of towners. As a huge bonus, my iced skim sugar-free vanilla decaf latte (ALL THE MODIFIERS) was very good, too. Great baked goods + great coffee = great place

Marivic L.

Yelp
I'm definitely a fan. I've had their plain croissant which was delicious and, surprisingly, I loved their Nutella croissant. I say surprisingly because I'm actually not a huge Nutella fan, but it was the right amount and so smooth in the soft and flaky croissant with roasted hazelnuts on top. I also had the superseed baguette which was flavorful. I liked the texture a lot. Service was friendly and I definitely need to try more of their items.

Ellie D.

Yelp
The baguettes at this place are really, really good. Which means the sandwiches are delivered in really, really good bread. While I was tempted to try my sandwich in a croissant I'm glad I did the baguette! Maybe next time I'll try the croissant. What we got: Traditional - 4* the small pickles (I don't remember their fancy name) were amazing! I wished the sandwich had a bit more salami in it, I felt that was lacking. The arugula added a really nice flavor to it. We also added tomato to this one. Parisian - 3* we asked for tomato to be added on ours. I liked the thicker cut cheese and the amount of ham but overall it was kind of a bland sandwich. Pumpkin bread - 5* fantastic! I loved the flavor and the cream cheese frosting was divine. One caveat, there's a weird after taste. Not enough to knock off a star but enough to warrant a comment. I think it's from the frosting.

Nicole R.

Yelp
My good friend recommended this place while we were driving back from a hike. After talking about it for an hour I HAD to stop in the next day. It was fairly busy but we were able to snag a table. Had the Krogel - Norwegian and an eclair. SO GOOD. SOOOOO GOOD. The buttery flakey goodness was just perfection and the seasoning/flavors are truly wonderful. I'm not usually a salmon person for breakfast but decided go give it a go - and it paid off! The eclair was good as well. I expected a traditional custard and was surprised when I was met with chocolate on the inside - good morning nonetheless. Finally, as the glutton I am, I ordered the Parisian sandwich to go. My friends and I ended up at a bar in Old Town, and stayed for a decent amount of time. This sandwich saved me...and my entire table was jealous I whipped it out in between beers. The bread was 10/10, I will be dreaming about it. The combo of ham, cheese, and butter was also..SO GOOD.

John L.

Yelp
This is an authentic French bakery that opened on March 1, 2022. I mean authentic as in founded by a Frenchman, they use french recipes, and they use french techniques. My wife and I have visited this bakery on several occasions. My previous review covered 8 other items. This review covers 6 items and their drip coffee. 1) Kouign Aman pastry It had a flaky exterior with a sugar glaze. The interior was moist and soft with multiple layers of dough. Each layer was light and airy with only a hint of buttery sweetness. More sugar and butter flavor was needed. It wasn't flavorful, but the texture was excellent. 2) Norwegian Cro'Gel sandwich It had smoked salmon, cucumbers, chives in cream cheese, and arugula in a Cro'Gel. A Cro'Gel is baked croissant dough in the shape of a bagel. It was crisp on the outside and soft on the layered inside, just like a croissant. There were 2 thin slices of smoked salmon. It had a good salmon and smoke flavor. The combination of savory salmon and cream cheese with the fresh veggies made this uniquely delicious. 3) Spinach Salmon quiche It had egg custard and spinach topped with cheese and salmon in a flaky pie shell. The egg custard was fluffy and soft. It needed some salt and pepper. The spinach and salmon tasted fresh. The cheese was very mild in flavor. Everything was cooked well. This was good, but I've had better. 4) Raisin bun It is made with croissant dough that is layered with vanilla pastry cream and raisins that were soaked in orange juice. It was soft, moist, and mildly sweet with a vanilla undertone. There were plenty of raisins that had a good flavor with a hint of citrus. This is much tastier than raisin buns made with bread dough. 5) Cinnamon roll It was slightly crunchy on the exterior from the sugar glaze and the pearl sugar sprinkled on top. The interior was soft and moist with a mild sweetness and a hint of vanilla. The cinnamon was incorporated into the dough so the flavor was not obvious. We loved the taste and texture, but more cinnamon would be nice! 6) Organic Ancient Grains Honey Loaf It was made with white flour, whole wheat flour, barley, quinoa, farro, brown rice, rolled oats, sour dough starter, honey, and salt. Everything is organic except the salt. You can take it whole or they can slice it for you. The bread had a chewy crust and a somewhat soft and moist interior. It was slightly sour with a hint of toasted grain flavor. Heating a slice in the microwave for 15 seconds makes the bread softer and more flavorful. We found this to be enjoyable even though we couldn't taste the honey. If you don't like sourdough, then don't get this. 7) Drip Coffee They use Peet's coffee. It is a dark roast blend coffee. It was full-bodied with a slight burnt flavor and no bitterness. The coffee was in a self-serve dispenser. The store was still immaculate! They have 4 tables with 14 chairs for indoor seating and 3 tables with 9 chairs for outdoor seating. The restrooms were clean. They were shared with another tenant in the building. You have to go through a hallway to get to the restroom. The service has been polite, patient, and professional. They had a wall full of goods imported from France. I bought a vacuum-sealed pack of ground coffee called Carte Noire Classique. It is made from 100% pure Arabica beans roasted in Lavérune, France. It is a medium roast that is rich and smooth with an intense deep aroma. I bought this before, it's that good! The atmosphere was casual, relaxed, and upscale. Even though there were a few weak points in the food, there was nothing that would prevent me from coming back. We will definitely be back to try other things!

Yelp
When I heard they were opening in old town I was so excited! By far my favorite place to get croissants in the area with the friendliest staff! Today I stopped by to get myself a couple of their croissants and to try their Crogel. Not only is their croissants flaky and buttery, the Crogel stole the show I ordered the village Crogel and the chicken was seasoned perfectly and the combination of greens and sauce was just right. Definitely recommend if you stop by!

Yelp
Really good. I was craving a good breakfast/baked item on a Sunday around noon and decided to try out Fresh Baguette. I saw there was an option to order online and ordered a TM Pesto Crogel as well as a mini pastry. The online tracker estimated my order would be ready in ~5 minutes and I was about 8 minutes away. My order was ready when I arrived and my Crogel was still warm when I got home. The Crogel was amazing. The pesto, tomato and mozzarella were super fresh and the crossaint/bagel made for a perfect savory sandwich. I ordered the lemon meringue mini tart and it was so good I wish I ordered another. Five stars for speed and food!! (The only thing that needed work was when ordering online, I initially tried to order 2 mini tarts and it added both to my cart but wouldn't allow me to check out because one was sold out but it wouldn't tell me which one so I had to play a bit of a guessing game before I was able to order.)

Yelp
Way overpriced French patisserie for average quality products. The Opal Noir was good, but the coffee and chocolate croissant were very average.

Yelp
Choices are the best thing here. Must say your funds go further just about anywhere in the Metro area. Pass on the sandwiches price would be far better spent at a restaurant. Small Baguette 10 oz is over 3.50 and crust good inner lacks a taste that you can place. Harris teeter is similar. The sourdough loaf was better but at 8.00 is not going to come home with us again. Will report again after pastries are sampled. Stand By

Yelp
Love the selection of pastries and bread from this place! I used to go to the one in Georgetown a lot when I lived closer to it. Now I can get "fresh baguettes" without going all the way to Georgetown and avoid the Georgetown traffic. I tried a Normande tarte which I probably should not have had because I have high cholesterol. But was it worth it? Absolutely! I think what would have taken it to the next level was if the tarte was toasted... maybe some ice cream also... Overall the service was 100% A+++ super effective and professional. (I suppose you have to in Old Town Alexandria). They have free wifi as well. A few sit down areas for eating but not that many seats (maybe like 6 total). I will definitely be returning !

Yelp
I highly recommend trying this place out. I ended up getting the sandwich with the smoked Salmon. Absolutely amazing 10/10. It tastes so fresh and good to eat this. It's not too heavy either. I had a chocolate croissant along with this. Their espresso is also very tasty. The staff are very knowledgeable about what's in all the food, which is helpful if you have any allergies. I ate inside and it wasn't too crowded or too loud, it was very inviting inside. Definitely will visit here again when I'm in town.

Yelp
I haven't been in this area for a year. I certainly don't remember this place. Glad I stopped by today. It offers baguettes, pastries (sweet and savory), and French snacks. Service seems quick. Could be an issue during a morning rush crowd.

Yelp
My true addiction. I avoided coming here for weeks after my bestie told me about the eclair. Being as though this place is close to where I live, I knew it would be a problem if it was a hit. I WAS CORRECT! I first tried the NORWEGIAN sandwich and was mind blow by the cro'gel. Never had one and I was in love right there. I SAVORED every bite. The next time I tried the VILLAGE. It was simply amazing. The flavors truly burst in ur mouth like that scene from Ratatouille! Third time I tried the TM PESTO. Great. Just GREAT. Ive tried the eclair, Black Forest macaroon, lemon meringue, raspberry tart. I'm not proud to say I've been like two to three days back to back. This place has never missed until the very last time I visited. PRO TIP, if the cro'gels in the display case are on the dark side, the cro'gels aren't going to be as soft and buttery and perfect as they could be. The original juices in the beverage section are torch too. I love this bakery. I have to limit my trips here or I'd be visiting everyday if I could.

Yelp
Mon dieu!! We have been away for a number of months & I definitely wanted to check this place out because I've heard so much about it. It did not disappoint. In fact it is fantastic! Finally great bread and sandwiches and pastries within walking distance of our house. That could also be very dangerous for me! Outstanding - this bread!! Magnifique! And of course a petit dessert too. Fantastic team helping out too!

Yelp
Not was I was expecting and the prices are very high. The crossaint was enjoyable but not something that I need to come back for. The baked bread turned hard extremely fast and was unedible after a day. The desserts have an amazing presentation but the prices did not make sense to me. They have a great location/corner on King st. The staff was extremely friendly, welcoming, to the point of basically overwhelming. It's ok for that great attitude and customer service but in a matter of less then 3 minutes everyone asking what we wanted while looking at the display, was too much.

Yelp
Quick review. Walked by and got a blueberry muffin, only to get home and take a bite. There was a criminal lack of blueberries in this muffin, maybe 6-7 in the entire thing. The result was just a boring, flavorless muffin which was also quite dense.
