The order was quick, the food was good. They were nice and the location was great. We ordered #2 chicken plate and mozzarella sticks.

I came here once years ago and the food was just okay and I could only eat half of it before I found a hair in my food and just threw it away. I decided to give it another try and had the same exact experience, just okay and found a hair in it. Never going back. There's a much better option right down the street.

They couldn’t make change for a $20 bill for a $16 meal, so basically extort a tip, which they would have gotten anyway…. Boarder line criminal.

Over the years, I’ve never wanted to try a food truck even though they’re very popular! We went to this one in downtown Austin and it has become one of my FAVORITE places to eat!! 😁 The gyros are DELICIOUS, huge, and very filling! The cheese fries are also very good. I don’t like spicy so I chose not to get their spice sauce on mine. They have a selection of canned cold drinks. I was also impressed with their little seating area! Clean, casual, and not noisy at all! A perfect place to sit, eat good food, and enjoy good conversation!! 💛 Oh, and they have to-go containers if you need to take home leftovers. If ordering through Uber eats, which we do now too, they wrap them really well and arrive just as fresh as eating them on site.

Nice little halal place in downtown. We ordered the chicken shawarma and chicken strips. The shawarmas were ok, nothing special. They are sized a tad smaller than usual but are packed generously. They do tend to fall apart, but no complains as the taste was pretty good. The owner was kind enough to keep a cooler running, and it made for a pleasant dining experience. What I didn't appreciate is the fact that they don't advertise their prices and tend to overcharge their customers. I ordered 2 shawarmas first and 2 more separately later. They priced each shawarma at $14, but when I inquired about the price, they said oh it's $11.30 and and changed the total. So I ended up overpaying for the first two shawarmas. That's a bit dishonest, I think. So ask about the wraps and plates upfront and make sure to check the final bill. Always advertise your price upfront.

To the owner! For a long time, this was the best Halal truck downtown. The last two times I’ve eaten here I got a gyro wrap with nothing but meat, lettuce and white sauce, despite asking for both white and red sauce. They are no longer toasting the pita bread either. I hope the quality comes back, I love this truck.

A hidden GEM! Tender pita, crispy falafel, the freshest salad ingredients, perfectly seasoned & cooked meat, delicious spices. The best we've ever had! Easy online ordering and friendly employees. Will be back soon!

I don’t know what kind of gyro food it is , it is sure not Greek. Never in my life have I had a Greek food with nasty spicy sauce smothered over a terribly tough chicken “shawarma ”(?) . This should be called something other than gyro place. Also, I did not see on the menu it listed “spicy” sauce, as I didn’t even care to read because I’d never expect Greek to come spicy. I told the guy I don’t eat spicy. He said it was very mild. Well, I could not eat it at all! It was more like a “very hot” vs mild type of spicy. Maybe in the future place the sauce on the side, so people can season to taste rather than smother in sauce that is not good at all.

Noticed a new gyro food truck in the area one day and made sure we went back to visit another day. Glad we did because their gyro wrap, white sauce and meat over fries with that white sauce as well is delicious. The food is cooked to order and is served fresh just like in the name. The service is friendly, you have a couple of tables to sit and eat but they don't hVe drinks. They will direct you to the store at the gas station. I definitely recommend this place and we have already been back.

Looking for a late night snack while in town, we had our eye on the pizza truck but its lights were off, so we decided to check out Fresh Gyro Halal near our hotel. Nate got a gyro and I got chicken tenders. The food didn't take long to make and it was all fresh and hot, and nicely packaged for our quick walk back to our hotel. Nate declared this gyro as the best he's ever had, and he's eaten a lot of them so I believe him. I did try some and thought it was quite tasty - I particularly liked that the meat wasn't dry as it sometimes can be on a gyro. He really enjoyed the "spicy sauce," although we're not sure what it was. The chicken tenders were good because they were freshly fried and came with ranch AND bbq sauce. Overall this seems like a great spot for a late night snack or quick dinner.

This is reviewing their east slaughter location. We ordered a combo plate, dolmas and a coke for a quick midweek dinner from here and it was delicious. The serving size was huge for both items so plenty for two people to share (with 2 dolmas left over for later). White sauce was delish and so was their hot sauce (they gave us extra at no additional cost which is rare so very much appreciated). My only complaint is that a can of Coke was $2 - pricey for sure but when you need a cold coke with dinner it is what it is (plus they did give us extra sauce so it all evens out). Would definitely go back for more!

I think out of the recent gyro plates I have reviewed, this one has the best flavored meat but they hoed me with a smaller amount of rice I like mixing the plate so each bite has an equal amount of rice, veggies, and meat but towards the end all I had left was lettuce. Overall, this plate got the job done and filled me up but I wish it was a bigger portion because I love me some good halal.

Superb halal Middle-Eastern and Mediterranean food served by the kindest and friendliest staff. True hospitality would not accept payment from me being a guest from outside of Austin Texas. May God bless you and your family for generations!

Reviewing location at 729 E Slaughter Ln. Fantastic addition to the neighborhood. The gyro is great. The chicken is great. The beef shawarma is great. Still need to get around to the falafel.. On top of the great cooked-to-order food, the service is fast. The last couple of times, I've ordered pickup over uber eats. This part of town needs more reasons to NOT have to cross the highway for great food. Fresh Gyro Halal is setting the bar for food on Brandt & Slaughter.

Went to the Neuces St food truck. Ordered the combo of gyro and chicken over rice. It also included a little salad, white sauce and spicy sauce. It was plentiful and good. The service was friendly and quick.

I just went up to order, and the guy would not even take my order. He was sitting on the floor of the restaurant staring at the wall. Not sure what's going on there.

It feels like this cart is always open! Which is convenient if you want a chicken & rice fix. But don't overlook the gyro over fries either, that can really hit the spot. Chicken Plate: The chicken was nicely spiced and had a very fragrant aroma. Seemed to be breast meat, which was fine because it was tender, though I do prefer chicken thigh in my chicken & rice. Loads of creamy white sauce covering everything. Though I was a little disappointed to find that about half the container was salad; would have preferred more chicken & rice. Gyro Over Fries: Such comfort food. Loads of fries covered in ketchup, white sauce and a little hot sauce. Topped with ground gyro bits. It definitely beats boring old chili fries! Falafel Snack: The falafels had a nice crispy exterior. However, the interior felt a bit bready instead of that nice grainy chickpea center I prefer. It was tasty for sure, but just not as hearty as I like.

I am very disgusted to have to write this... As me and my boyfriend drove up to get some food. We see a man outside cleaning his feet with his hands. We go up to the truck after parking and realized he was the worker and cleaned his hands on a rag... we walked away fast and left please be more sanitary and not wash your feet where your customers will be eating

Gyro meat is probably my favorite comfort food and for lunch drop today I was so excited to see Fresh Gyro Halal. I asked for extra sauce on the app and they delivered. I am so appreciative of that because you know most places don't always acknowledge the notes. The portion size was perfect, the lettuce was still crispy when it arrived and the gyro melts in your mouth. I would 10/10 seek this place out on my own versus waiting for it to come back on lunch drop #supportlocal

Good combo plate ($12) especially with extra meats added ($3). Really quick service. Fresh, flavorful and good portions. P.S. The falafels are absolutely terrible. There's no salt or any flavor. They're over fried. And they're tiny for $6 for 6pcs.

Great access when all you need is some bomb street food. They have a setup with picnic tables off the street. Be sure to ask for NON-SPICY gyro, they serve it spicy unless specified. Delicious and generous portions.

Sometimes you need something that hits the spot at the end of the night. This is that place. We stopped by looking for something hot and delicious. I don't like dropping a lot of money on food truck food but I was willing to pay anything for food at that point. i order a a basic gyro and the man had it in my hands in four minutes. IN FOUR MINUTES. There were a considerable amount if people there too so when I unwrapped it I had a healthy level of skepticism die to the speed but it did not disappoint. It was fresh, it was filling, it was $10

I decided to order through Uber eats tonight and wanted to try something new, and this is where I decided on. All I can say is I chose right! This place is delicious. It was still warm when delivered, I was full after filling one peta and I have leftovers for tomorrow. Tasted fresh and has such a great flavor, will definitely be a repeat customer

I love this food truck! It used to just be a block away but they had to move because Sterotype closed. Luckily they didn't relocate too far. My favorite thing is the gyro salad. It's a hefty portion and lots of meat and the sauce is amazing.

I have no words, the falafel was soooooo delicious! My friend lives really close and brought me the falafel wrap - it was soooooooo delicious! I would go back every other day, usually for the salad (I requested extra tomatoes). Highly recommend the falafel, it's really out of the ordinary and fresh.

Beware of this place. I ordered chicken strips and received chicken nuggets instead. They were nasty and these chicken leftovers were absolutely horrible. My date ordered a gyro. This food truck placed nothing but chicken in the gyro rather than putting lamb. The menu has an option for chicken and lamb which was not requested. Was staying in Austin for the night and came across this food truck! Ordered the gyro plate and was pleasantly surprised!! Was surprised at how much meat was on that plate

Ordered via Lunch Drop to be delivered to my work place. Upon first opening my wrap, I noticed it was hefty - Im thinking, Wow, its huge! I then unwrap it all excited which turned to ummm, dang it all - messy as heck. Visually not appealing much, the sauce - while rather quite tasty - has soaked the pita bread and its very VERY messy. I start to take a few pics as there are not many posted in Yelp and notice the meat portion is a bit lacking - the weight comes from the sauce and the veggies. Its more a salad than anything, which I probably wouldnt have minded if not so messy AND if there had been more than a couple tbs of meat in it. I think this place has potential, the flavors are really good but the technique needs much improvement.!

1000/5 stars. This was the best food I've ever had in my life. The chicken over fries OMG I would go back every single day if I could. The sauces blend beautifully and the chicken was seasoned magically- just wow. Wow wow wow!

They will take your order and not have a cook ready. This place had 20+ people waiting outside and no one to cook. Expect 45 minutes before you get your food and it will be... basic vanilla normal bar food. Don't waste your time.

I'm from Los Angeles and I visited Austin and this little food truck has the best Food I've eaten as far as a little gyro stand really better than 5 star restaurants on the whole of USA ! No joke. Very tasty and light food for such heavy style middle eastern or meditatran cuisine. I highly recommend it. Don't waste your time anywhere else. Well lit up area close to all the bars in 6th street Austin Texas. Don't mess with Texas!!!

I am sorry to say this, but my friend & I both had falafel sandwiches here & it was quite underwhelming... We both agreed it was kind of missing some taste? Like under seasoned falafel (maybe add some more herbs or spices) & overall a little dry too, needed more sauce. It was a fair size & just enough for me (a petite female, & not too hungry), but on a hungry day... I would have been wanting more (like 1.5 sandwiches).

Probably one of my favorite gyros that I have ever had. Came late at night around 10pm and ordering was easy and the owner cooks it fresh and quickly. Probably waited 10 minutes for him to make the food... so worth it! Will start coming here only every time I am craving gyros.

Solid halal food for a late night dinner. Came to Austin pretty late and decided to get some halal food. I just stuck to the basic gyro plate and it was delicious! Literally enough to feed two. The meat was nice and flavorful. It's satisfied my craving for sure!

Late night pizza...you have officially been benched. A friend insisted we drop by this truck right by Stereotype before calling it an evening after some bar hopping and after my first bite into the makeshift bowl of pure goodness I felt foolish for suggesting we share. I stand by it sober, too, as the next day my leftovers gave me life again (the pita was still beautifully soft!). If you're in the area and need grub to soak up some alchy or just because, THIS place should be your number one. It's not good for you, but damn is it gooooooooood.

Let's chat about French fries. French fries, mannnnnn who doesn't love a good french fry? But they often lose their starchy golden magic as soon as they go cold. I have ordered Fresh Gyro Halal's french fries via Uber Eats 4 times and each time they are still delicious. Delicious, tasty and crispy DELIVERY french fries?!!! Almost impossible but this place does it. They are covered in ketchup, a spicy red and creamy white sauce. You could probably get that on the side and they'd be even crisper but honestly the sauces are amazing so don't skip it. The dolmas are tender and flavorful. The hummus is super creamy and smooth. Pita is high quality and never dry. My husband's gyro...devoured. There seems to be a lot of halal options in Austin but please give this place a try. My food delivery from them has always been carefully packaged, correct every time (which is also almost impossible) and they even accommodate my requests for extra sauce no problem. Support this business! Eat their food! ***Crispy. Delivery. French. Fries.***

Tuesday during the snowstorm this spot found a way to stay open and fed a massive line of people until they ran out of food. We were out of power and food and it was my only warm meal that day as I'm sure was the same for many others. I appreciate the effort to get people good food and I'll come back for that reason!!

Best gyro and beef shawarma wrap we have ever had. Super juicy, filled with flavor, and the pita bread was flamed to perfection. Found this walking by headed for a night out, and was happy we stumbled upon this food truck. The owner is also very pleasant, and was working on his own when we came. It's a must try, will definitely be back when in town. Cheers!

Gyro meat is so good it's like candy. But savory. The sauces are insane, everything melts in your mouth. Halal gurus, halal time and halal bros can't even touch this place with a 10 foot pole. I come at least once or twice a week.

Ordered through Uber Eats Little spice, everything nice. Chewy, tasty lamb and lots of veggies included in my wrap. Great flavor and the meat tastes marinated. Probably the best gyro wrap I have ever had. I see this place going places.
