Yelp
This place is a little "old-fashioned" but I kinda like it!
It's brand new, and if you haven't been it's worth a try. I generally head straight for the meat section, the steaks are great quality at an unbeatable price. At least the prices were unbeatable last time I went. I have bought a boston butt, brisket, new york strips, and t-bones. All were excellent.
The people are nice like you might see at publix. (in case you didnt notice, publix has amazing customer service.) The checkout is usually pretty quick. I don't normally wait in long lines, the place is still pretty undiscovered.
The price scheme is Always Low. I don't think they have alot of tricks besides keeping low overhead and taking in low profit on bulk purchases. I may be wrong, but at least I haven't seen any "tricks."
Its located in Trussville, in a newly repurposed shopping center formerly belonging to Food World. (Yes, Trussville bought the building to prevent Americas Thrift Store from moving in) Trussville didn't want a thrift store. They don't have bars, they don't want pit pulls in town, they don't have any cash advance stores, don't be surprised they didnt want a store that sells lots of used items. (You can get used items at the antique store in trussville.)
I like thrift stores, but I'm glad that its a grocery store instead. I don't normally buy all of my groceries here. But, if they maintain the price and quality of steaks, It just be enough of a "trick" to keep me shopping.
