Bought tea from Pearl Fine Teas. Bought one packet and was told it would be $14. I was okay with $14. I get home and find out the charge on my card was $20. The other markets that I bought from were honest, stating the prices and charging those prices. I have tried to contact management to let them know about this stand, but no answer yet. I am hoping for someone to contact me as this is a scam and that vendor should not be allowed to participate at that market.

Indeed an outstanding farmers market compared with the others 3-4 miles around. Thete are many organic produces and you can pick variety of vegetables, herbs, fruit. There are bread, fermented and pickled produces, even entertaining area for kids.

See end for why only 4 stars. I have been coming here for over 10 years, and have always loved it! A great mix of farm and other vendors are here, several bake shops, distilleries, and more! I am glad that the market continues, and has restrictions for safety. At least half of the vendors from other years continue to sell here, and there are even some new ones. BUT they do not allow any eating anywhere in the market! There are tables around the edge of the plaza recently added, and they are 6 ft apart. Why can we not eat there? The rule is strictly enforced. The tables meet guidelines !! 🤬🤬🤬🤬 I hope they can change this rule to earn that last star.

Easily the best farmers market in the "district" area. Lots of great produce...seriously really good. The prices are on point and not too inflated. Love the rustic produce and charm of the vendors--really nice job. Aside from the occasional panhandler...Highly recommended!

This was a cool farmers' market to visit with family. While the balance tilts more toward prepared food, there is a great contingency of local regular, non-pesticide, and organic farm stalls offering a variety of produce. There were at least a couple Amish stalls, including dairy stalls. I saw two butchers present. One coffee shop and a small variety of brewers and a couple distillers. Downtown Silver Spring is a pretty good melting pot too. You see a good variety of people in the crowd, from locals and Washingtonians to folks from the surrounding counties, all kinds of cultures, and humorous new-to-the-area yuppies who seem periodically upset/sad that they couldn't use Apple Pay at all the stalls. Immediately surrounding the market is all that Downtown Silver Spring has had to offer since it was finished in the early 2000's. It's a cool scene and compares very favorably to most other pop-up farmers' markets that are actually in DC. Most of those are smaller and have less options and much less produce and actual whole foods, and are focused on craft items and food.

I love the DTSS Farmers Market. Well it is not as extensive as my two favorites, it is still fairly big. This market has some of my absolute favorite vendors, such as Zeke's, DMV Empanadas, Dodo Farms, and the local grain stand. I also appreciate the wine/beer/spirits vendors. It opens a little bit too late for me, so I don't go as often as I'd like, but my visits are always enjoyable.

Great farmers market in Downtown Silver Spring. Have not been in a while but always love everything we get when we go.

Now that we've hit spring, the market is really booming. While the market is great in the late fall/winter time frame, it really gets going when it's warmer out and more stands show up. There is a great variety of coffee, food (empanadas, Middle Eastern, bagels, macrons, etc.), alcohol (I believe there's usually three to five liquor vendors there), fresh vegetables, and many other items for your lives. People coming from all around the DMV every Saturday, it's a great time for anyone in or around Silver Spring. Everyone there is incredibly friendly and you get a great bang for your buck from every stand if the stand has what you are interested in purchasing that day.

Best farmers market in the moco area that I have been to! Such a great variety of vendors including different farms and bakeries. My favorite was Talking Breads and Rare Opportunities Bakery. Lines can get long but tend to move quickly. Great way to support local farms and businesses!

Went last Saturday , and it was lovely. It wasn't too crowded and there were so many vendors with amazing products. I will certainly have to come back. I can tell you I bought a ton of veggies for 10 dollars. Then some spicy chicken empanadas, which were delicious. Did I mention the outdoor spacing of vendors was really nice and avoided crowding. Everyone was incredibly kind. Let me just say between the empanadas , the amazing bake goods , the fresh pasta and pesto, homemade dumplings and chili oil, my kitchen smelled like a true chef lived in my place. I wish I took pictures but my fork moved quicker than my brain. I know I will be back and I will bring a big bag and take pictures.

Great farmers market offering a wide variety of "farm to table" produce and goods! The Silver Spring Freshfarm Market is a....definitely one of my favorite farmer's markets in the DMV. At this market, you will find a full variety of conventional and certified organic fruits and vegetables, pasture-raised meat, poultry and eggs, artisan sweet and savory baked goods, fresh milk, butter, and yogurt, goat/cow cheeses, charcuterie, fermented foods and pickles, jams, jellies and sauces, honey, seafood and handmade Maryland crab cakes, local wines, beers, and ciders, flowers and plants, handmade soaps, and more! You name it, this market has it all. One additional note to know...."It's a year-round" market! Unlike most farmer's markets in the area, where you are limited to summer-only and seasonal openings. This market keeps a heavy rotation of great produce and goods, local distillery/wines and even live entertainment all year! The market is open only on Saturday mornings between the hours of 9am-1pm. It is located in the heart of Downtown Silver Spring on Ellsworth Drive and Veterans Plaza; off Georgia Ave. Parking is available on the streets for free and there are parking garages available where parking is free as well on weekend. And, if it helps...all vendors accepts SNAP/Food Stamps and WIC. Make sure you checkout out a couple of my favorites: * MICROGREENS - hydroponic greens & tomatoes * CALL YOUR MOTHER - wood-fired bagels/sandwiches * HEX FERMENTS - fermented vegetables & kombucha * QUAKER VALLEY ORCHARDS-vegetables, fruits, free-range eggs, cider, sauces, jams & honey In all, there are lot's of great finds at this market and it is definitely worth a visit. It's the perfect place to spend part of your Saturday morning on a nice day...and on the cheap.

This farmer's market had more vendors than the others I've visited in the area. I appreciated the wide variety in produce, specifically Dodo Farms, which had okra. There are also prepared foods for purchase, I got a beef and cheese empanada, which was pretty flavorful and a nice snack walking around. The sweet corn was only $1 per head at multiple vendors. I bought mine with the farm from Bridgeville, PA and wished I supported a different vendor, the two guys working the table were rude. They kept their conversation going during my transaction even when I had a question. I asked where the farm was located the one guy pointed at his chest rather than speaking to me, and they kept their conversation going. Aside from that it was a great Saturday morning spent.

Probably one of my favorite farmers markets around! Has a big variety of offerings but not TOO big!! Stretches down Ellsworth Dr from Georgia Ave to just across Fenton. Easy walking from one end to another with booths up and down both sides. There's no traffic pulling through is it's relatively easy to walk through. They are dog and stroller friendly but it gets VERY crowded on nice days. My favorites here are the bakery as soon as you walk in from Georgia Ave end on your left - Atwater. You can pick up an excellent loaf or whole fruit tart. The Greek bakery is popular and good, but not great so I tend to skip it to save my carb bank for other goodies. Mushroom booth has good selections including lions mane which makes for a hearty broth. Also a popular and lives up to the hype is Call Your Mother booth. A quick to sell out so make sure you get your bagels early. Worth a pick up to your usual grocery list is the fresh milk here and the flower booth all the way at the end. DTSS Farmers market is one of my favorite all bourgeois but absolutely necessary stops if you're here on a Saturday. The variety and quality of products you find here are hard to match in other farmers markets and you're supporting the local, small business economy.

There are a dozen or so stalls set up with fresh vegetables, fruits, meats, and artisan breads and pastries for sale. Prices vary, so I suggest looking over all of your options before purchasing a specific item. There was only one specialty mushroom tent, and a few Mediterranean quick bread meal tents (selling warm Börek, or phyllo savory pies, pita, and lentils). Everything is grown and made locally, even the breads, cheeses, and Greek food. I bought some sweet potatoes ($1.50/lb.), green beans ($4.00/container), and some specialty mushrooms ($5.40 minimum purchase with credit) for Thanksgiving dishes I am preparing. While there, I indulged myself with a brunch of cold spanakopita (made with no cheese, and lots of spinach!), warm ground beef and cheese Börek, and a no sugar added apple strudel, all of which I bought from separate stalls to get an overall quality assessment of the sellers there. The spanakopita was fairly good considering there was no cheese (something I've discovered may be necessary to make spinach more palatable), but overall not my favorite. I requested an end piece and found that at the edges, the dough had a bread-like consistency as opposed to flaky phyllo dough, and the interior threatened to turn to mush with all of the soft spinach stuffed inside. It cost $8, and I would probably prefer to buy something else (at least I got my greens in though!) The Börek was amazing, though a bit more expensive at $9.15. The dough, while again not flaky, was soft and tore easily like a mix of warm focaccia and pizza dough. In between the layers were bits of ground beef and mozzarella cheese, a classic combination! There were two types of Börek being sold: the ground beef and cheese and a spinach and cheese. I would recommend indulging in this treat if you were not feeling adventurous to try something else. And finally, the no sugar added apple strudel: it makes me question why we need to add sugar to strudel in the first place! It tasted amazing and perfect as is, the interior was sweet and cinnamony, as well as delectably soft and smooth. Granted, the exterior pastry threatened to fall apart due to the weight of the stuffing, but it was flaky like a pastry should be, although it admittedly added little to the strudel. You could sell the stuffing on its own as a jam and I would be immensely happy with it! It cost $5.00 though, so it is a bit pricey. Overall, while expensive, the items and foods provided are of exceptional quality and overall modestly to unbelievably delicious! My reason for reduced stars? There were an unnerving number of homeless people approaching shoppers asking them to buy their newspapers. I wouldn't let that deter anyone from going, but to just be aware.

Baltimores Farmers Market has put any others in the area to shame. Tried out the SS farmers market before meeting up with friends and it was lacking in many areas. I think the biggest turn off was when a vendor stated the shallots they were selling were from last season what else should not be purchased. That didn't sound fresh. Also, most vendors were too busy on thier cell phones to assist or had no knowledge at all about anything they were selling. The one vendor on the corner across from the movie theather was very knowledgeable on the vaarious greens and the best ones to include in a green juice. His products were also very fresh. Save your time and head elsewhere.

Do you like organic produce? Do you like supporting small businesses? Do you love the smell of fresh bread ? Then you might want to stop by this market. Its really easy to park here since its right in downtown silverspring and there are plenty of garages surrounding the area. The extra added perk is that parking is free on the weekends so you don't have to worry about dealing with the meters or anything. I came here this past Sunday and there was a cute group of old men playing musical instruments on the stage. I thought it was a nice extra added touch to the market. They have a nice variety of items at this market including your standard produce, beef jerky, wine, and fresh bread. Make sure you walk around before you purchase anything. Different people are offering a different variety of items at different prices. Nothing worse than being like "Oh snap! I didn't know they had these cool mushrooms over here. I just spent 50 bucks at this other place"

It's not as big as Takoma Park and Dupont's Farmers Markets, but it is still really cool. The market has moved this year to Ellsworth Dr. between Georgia Ave. and Fenton. While it still may be a bit early in the year to buy fresh veggies, they have many vendors selling all kinds of herbs. They are a bit pricier than Takoma Park and even Home Depot. I will probably wait until summer to return, when corn on the cob and new potatoes are readily available. I also hope the vendor selling fresh-cut flower bouquets returns this summer. And what's a farmer's market without fresh breads and pastries? You have to try Praline Bakery's lemon bar. It's to die for! It's also big enough to share, if you are the giving kind. The Silver Spring Farmers Market is now open all year round! (Saturdays 9am-1pm)

I've been to a lot of farmers' markets but this one, by far, deserves a genuine 5-star rating. I come here every Saturday! This market is strategically located in the heart of downtown Silver Spring. As a commuter (passing over several other FMs), I can definitely appreciate being able to find ample, free parking - DMV folks can surely empathize with me. The market itself is expansive in both size and product variety. There are tons of vendors selling plentiful fresh, affordable, organic fruits and produce, bakers, and meat mongers who can put your local butcher to shame. It's so refreshing when the sellers know so much about their product. There is also a decent amount of wine and cheese purveyors - enough competition to defend against the evil monopoly monster. Today, I purchased mesclun, along with lacinato Kale (Dino Kale), enough peaches to make a gazillion peach cobblers, and mixed peppercorns (woe to man who buys pepper already ground, eek). To top it all off, the market is sprinkled with talented buskers who are perfectly distanced from each other - as to not overcrowd our ears with clashing sounds. Today, I listened to two little kids playing the violin and cello, and another woman playing the accordion. Simply pleasant to watch and listen. I also noticed a few vendors aligned themselves with a social cause. Do your mind and body a favor and shop/support this farmers' market. You'll come back week after week.

Wonderful place to hang out to get fresh produce on Saturdays. And also great opportunity to bond with your family. I stroller down the street while buying fresh fruits, vegetables, and bread for the week. Truly enjoy the variety of choices and vendors that they have.

This is one of the stops I make after my appointment on Saturday's. I like the vibe at this market. Customers and vendors are on on chill and relax mode making it easy to check out the various veggie & fruit stands. This farmers market has a lot of what you expect and some of what you don't. The new thing is drinking kombucha. Well there's a stand for that! Another vendor is selling vegan options. He had a variety of gazpacho, and ready to make burgers (black bean, sweet potato etc.), and salads such as quinoa, and chick pea. Popcorn is my absolute favorite snack and Capitol Kettle Corn will not disappoint! This popcorn is popped onsite and they host such flavors as Ethiopian Spice, Brown sugar and traditional kettle corn. Fermented veggies your thing then you should check out No One Sons! I absolutely love the pickled beets and kimchi, but they have several other options as well. Gordy's Pickled Jar is also a great place for a variety of pickles, relishes and hots. If you want to add to your decor make sure you stop by the flower stand. Some of the most amazing fresh cut flowers can be found here. The location is also great if you want to go shopping, have lunch or take in a movie because everything is located within a couple of blocks.

My home market, just blocks from where I live! I love the variety available at this FreshFarm market, from incredible handmade lotions to local distilled spirits! As a personal chef, it's a great place to come for local, seasonal produce, with quality that I'm proud to supply to my clients. Special love to Willow Oaks Craft Cider, who sell delicious dry ciders and some of the best blueberries I've found anywhere.

Huge fan of Farmers Markets, so I was excited to visit freshfarms in Silver Spring. Great variety of DMV venders offering great prices on produce, fresh flowers, meats, baked goods and cheeses. The live band was a fantastic bonus to the day and added a pleasant ambiance. Much of the produce stands offer the same thing, so it's a matter of finding the better bargains. Visit the Banner Bee stand for delicious infused honey, such as honey infused w/ lavende, lemon grass, and even jalapeño! Yep, jalapeño.

I've walked by the farmers market many times over the years but only just recently I started to actually buy from it. You can find a variety of things - fresh and local fruits and veggies, jams, cheese, wine, bread, desserts, body care products, and flowers. I only went to a hand full of stalls during my visits to the farmers market. And 100% of the stalls accepted credit cards! (Elk Run Vineyards - http://www.yelp.com/biz/elk-run-vineyards-mt-airy, Three Springs Fruit Farm - http://www.yelp.com/biz/three-springs-fruit-farm-aspers, The Farm at Our House - http://www.thefarmatourhouse.com/, and Spring Valley Farm & Orchard - http://chilesfamilyorchards.com/orchards/spring-valley-orchard/) I was pretty impressed because I have previously been to the Mountain View Farmers Market (http://www.yelp.com/biz/mountain-view-farmers-market-mountain-view). Despite being at the heart of the Silicon Valley, many of the sellers only accept cash. So the fact that I can show up at the Silver Spring Freshfarm Market with only a credit card and walk out with bags of fresh, locally grown food is beyond amazing to me. There's a lot of crowd. People come with their family and pets. So getting around is a bit of a challenge.

This place rocks! Even if you're not planning on buying, there's usually some sort of entertainment going on such as a live band, face painting, etc. My only complaint is that is very pricey!! Also, you will only find vegetables here and some apples. I wish they had a wider selection of fruits! Also, mostly every vendor here accepts credit cards. And as expected (Montgomery county) they charge for bags, so bring your own and Save!

I've never understood the point of farmer's markets. I understand that the produce is locally grown, and probably organic, and because it's local it's better for the environment, and blah blah blah...but often (almost always), there are really only two stalls that actually sell produce, and then, the selection is not as wide as many grocery stores. THEN, there is the misnomer of "farmer's market", because for me, that conjures up images of beautifully golden and corn-fed farm-boys. Bronzed from working out in the fields, shirtless in the sun. Glistening and rugged. With perfectly distressed jeans slung low on their magnificently muscled hips...accentuating their rock-hard abs as they stare with their piercing blue eyes, longingly, at the smart and sassy cosmopolitan girl to show them the ways of the city, and of love... Uhhh...what was I talking about again??? Oh yes. Farmer's markets. Um. Yes. So, on this particular Saturday, my husband and I decided to saunter through the newly renovated and muchly gentrified and hotly debated downtown Silver Spring, and came across a farmer's market that set my eyes a gleaming! To start with - there was an *amazing* selection of produce, from a plethora of stands! Purple cauliflower! White eggplant! Fresh English peas! But there was more then just produce (although, by my count, there were at least 6 stalls that sold nothing but beautiful fresh and luscious produce), there were bakeries with fresh and delicious pastries, local honey, florists, and then...we came across the meat stalls. Now, part of me wonders about the safety about buying meat off the back of a truck in the middle of a hot summer's day...it does seem like something out of Godfather. But that part of me is quickly shushed when I see glorious cuts of steaks (dear rib-eye, let us never be apart), fresh slabs of venison, and mouth-watering links of lamb sausage! The beautiful marbling, the deep brightness of the red, the thickness of the cuts...I felt flushed and nearly swooned at the sight of all that meat-majesty! So yes, while I am still not sure I am a fan of farmer's markets, I will say that I am a *huge* fan of the Silver Spring Farmer's Market. This is what I've always pictured a farmer's market to be. Lots of stalls selling tons of fresh unique produce (that justifies me paying more then I would at a grocery store). Although I still stand-by my assertion that farmer's markets should at least have some deliciously handsome shirtless farmboys, I'll take the stalls of meat as an equitable (and equally tasty) substitute.

I don't know what it is with my "meh" experiences lately, but I hardly call 6 tents a Farmer's Market. It is a Farmer's tent gathering at most. I could just be completely spoiled by the Farmer's Market that I went to every weekend in Monterey, CA. It ran a whole block with everything from huge amounts of gorgeous produce to meats, to fresh baked pumpkin bread, fresh roasted nuts, desserts, food tents, clothing, jewelry, crafts, and toys. Seriously, I think that's a 5. I suppose that's more like a huge open air market, but it's what comes to mind when I think of "Farmer's Market". I would like to see more tents, more diverse produce and more random items. I think I was looking for more grains, some stuff that I can't buy at Whole Foods or the Co-op. I did really like the assortment of fresh herbs that you can take home and plant. That was very nice. I don't really know if I would consider going back to this market in particular. I might try Takoma Park's, but if I'm in the area on a Saturday morning anyway, I might check it out, then grab a bite to eat.

Really good market with lots of different things- breads, vegetables, cheeses, honey, and more. Not very big but definitely worth a trip. There's music and street performers as well.

Too expensive! If you are trying to get folks interested in locally grown produce, don't make it waay more expensive than whole paycheck. Humans sustain themselves, through affordable nutrition. I feel some of these farmers are taking advantage of " middle class naïveté " by selling at such a high price. I have worked on a farm and know the amount of work for quality, of which I have not tasted from any if the vendors t this market, for a reasonable price. I have been to hundreds of farmers markets and this is my least favorite.

With the granddaughter's soccer, softball, basketball, etc. on Saturday mornings it had been a while since we went to the Silver Spring Freshfarm Market. This morning with no games, no obligations we decided to do some shopping there. It's so convenient to get to with the parking garage just a few steps from the market, and no charge on the weekends. I like the size. There is plenty of variety but it's not overwhelming. When we come out of the garage we usually head to the left where there are fewer vendors, but still some nice ones. There were some condiments, a meat stand, bakery and produce and herbs. Heading back we stopped and admired some plants and herbs. We didn't want to carry them as we explored the rest of the market, but did stop and buy lavender and black pepper plants on our way out back to the garage. We picked up a hard cheese, after trying a sample, to enjoy with crackers and fruit. One of the produce stands seems to be particularly popular and we got tomatoes and green squash there. The fresh flower stand is always busy and we picked up a lovely mixed bouquet. Had not seen it before but there was a stand selling interesting relishes like kraut and the Korean Kimchi. My husband loves Kimchi so we got a "tall" container. We passed by the wines, though they looked lovely, and did pick up a container of fresh mozzarella on the way out. The products are not inexpensive but they are fresh. You get to meet and chat with the people who grow them and/or create them. In the future, will make a point to get there more often in spite of granddaughter's sport schedule!

Hosted every Saturday in DTSS, this is one of the best farmers markets I've ever attended. A couple CSAs, several farms, a couple distilleries, some wineries, bakeries, and fermenters (pickles + kombucha) all regularly attend. My wife and I like to stop for breakfast from one of the bakeries and then stroll through picking out produce and other items we think we'll need throughout the week.

I don't buy from all the stalls and there isn't a huge selection but I've found enough stuff here that I like to convince me to come back again and again. I always try to get there early when the selection is best and parking is easy to find nearby in a garage or on side street. It is also more conveniently located for me than any of the other local farmers markets. Personal favorites: Bread from Atwater's - I usually get either Truan or 10-grain bread; slice it up, put it in the freezer and then thaw out a slice or two whenever I want/need it. The bread is kind of pricey. The loaves I get cost me $5, although I do get about 15-16 thick slices of bread from each of those loaves. Fruits and Vegetables from Spring Vally Farm & Orchards - I've bought peaches (no longer in season as I write this), apples, tomatoes, and bell peppers at this stall, and they've got much more which I have yet to try. So far so good.

Love this farmer's market. they have live music every saturday storefront. homemade soaps, fresh produce, handmade jewelry and fresh flowers. i was immediately a fan. I can't get down there every saturday but want to make an effort to moving forward.

Just another great feature in our up and coming Silver Spring. Every Saturday farmers from around the area come to downtown Silver Spring. Organic farms, mixed with local organic sausage producers and even a man that sells fresh goat, all sell their wares here. Great for shopping, or just admiring! Enjoy live music most weekends!

Open Saturdays from 9am to 1pm. (I would not show up early because they were still setting up when I got there at 10am) I agree with some of the others on here that you would not want to special trek up to Silver Spring for this Farmers Market. I was up there to run some errands (can I make a special mention to the whole grain bagels at Panera, I know it's a chain but ohhhh so good) so stopped by to check it out. There was a baker who looked like they had some tasty treats and apparently their Italian rosemary bread is very popular as people were talking about it already being sold put. There was bison, goat and there were a few dairies. I picked up some herbs at a stand. Time will tell - I just planted them - if they were good! (-:

While I have picked up some wonderful stuff here, the scheduling is a real problem, as the market is held only once a week, from 9:00 to 1:00 on Saturdays. This becomes problematic, as I am attending religious services at that time and can't get back to visit the market before closing. I've contacted the folks who run the market and suggested that the hours either be extended or that a weekday session during lunchtime be added, as I'm sure the people who work in downtown Silver Spring would happily spend their work breaks shopping the stalls. I was told this was definitely being considered--over 2 years ago--and nothing has transpired since. I know the Bethesda Farm Women's Market gets a lot of business on Wednesdays from people who work in downtown Bethesda. I think this would work as well for Silver Spring.

I love that for this market they close off the whole street. It makes wandering amongst the stands much more enjoyable. I love the kimchi stand and talking breads. Lots of excellent vendors with fresh seasonal fruits and veggies. Plus there are often good musicians filling the street with beautiful tunes. The whole scene is very family friendly!

Silver spring FM was smaller than takoma park FM so I was a bit disappointed but there was a great gelato stand. I could return for this gelato standin the future but for other local produce, I might just go to takoma park or dupont for more variety.

I can't believe I haven't written a review for this before now! I love this farmers market! It's really close to my apartment and year-round but much better in the spring and summer. Not only are they reasonably priced but there are a ton of vendors. I love getting fresh fruit, local honey, herbs, Apple cider, and flowers from here. There are delicious baked goods, wine, and even meats and cheeses. I believe that some vendors accept credit cards but there's a Bank of America ATM right in the middle of Ellesworth which is super convenient. My favorite thing to do is to shop around the market (and sometimes they have a craft fair on the other side of Fenton of the movie theater) then grab lunch at one of the local restaurants. Free parking in the garages doesn't hurt either. If you haven't been yet, go!

I wouldn't make a trek out to Silver Spring for it, but if you are in the area it's a nice place to pick up some fresh greens or cheeses. It's located right in downtown Silver Spring on Ellsworth Drive and usually there are at least 8 vendors out there selling veggies, fruits, cheeses, organic meats, and breads. One popular stand was the one selling herbs and vegetable seedlings that are ready for planting. Nice way to spend a sunny Saturday morning.

It's not the hugest Farmer's Market, but it has everything I need. Fruits, veggies, breads, pastries, meat, dairy, flowers, cheeses... did I forget anything? It's in the heart of Downtown Silver Spring, so there's lots of places to eat or chill out before or after you do your shopping. Definitely recommended for locals. It's open May-Oct, Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

I was interested in trying a new Farmers Market in the Bethesda area. I'm glad I found the Silver Spring Fresh Farm Market. The market is well attended without being choked with people. Loads of fresh veggies + fruits, wine, fermented drinks + veggies, honey, flowers, breads + pastries - all at fair prices. The market has a very unhurried and positive vibe. I'll definitely be returning to this market.

We come here almost every Saturday morning, tote bags and cash in hand. You simply cannot find farm fresh eggs, hand crafted cheese, and super-fresh bread, desserts, veggies, and fruit like this anywhere else in SS (that we know of). It's a little bit pricey, but you actually get to meet your farmer/baker/cheese maker... and who doesn't love that? It can get crowded, and sometimes you are literally tripping over dogs and baby strollers, but you get a unique feeling of community. Love it! Try the yummy empanadas and cheese from Spring Gap Mountain Creamery! Mmmmmmm...

Very fun, family friendly atmosphere. All of the vendors are extremely helpful and willing to give you tips. I don't understand why people give this market low ratings for the time it is held (if you can't make it, then you can't make it - I want to watch fireworks in November, but I am not going to boycott Independence Day) or for the prices (if they are so high, then don't buy anything). Seems like people are just is mad at the world. In full disclosure, I rarely purchase produce, but the environment is so great that the SO and I go weekly.

We moved to Silver Spring a month ago and have been to this farmer's market every Saturday. There is a booth that sells goat cheese and I buy a different type every week plus the type I bought the week before. The gentleman is so helpful and hooks me up with the taste I am asking for. I also love the variety of tomatoes and the fresh spinach throughout the market. We buy our bread there too. And there is a little old couple at one end that sells the freshest lettuce right out of their garden that I get every week. We also pick up breakfast from the bread stand and something to take home for lunch. With all the variety, I don't think it needs to be any bigger. And, all summer there is a craft fair attached to it that is great for buying items for Christmas presents that are unique.

Very nice addition to the Silver Spring experience. Every Saturday morning. Rain, or shine. Enough choice to make it worth my effort. Pricing is not cheap but if freshness is important, it is worth the money.
