Rosa J.'s parents were in town, all the way from Taiwan (my birthplace and childhood home), so she took them to the Fashion Outlets of Chicago to show them around.
I personally don't have much interest in purchasing mall food, but for my health-conscious mom I commended Freshii with reservation.
I'm not too crazy about the "flavors" because their food is, for the most part, very bland. I used to visit Freshii sometimes when the mall first opened. I've had their rice bowls, southwestern soup, and veggie wasabi wraps.
I decided to change up and ordered their juice and smoothie (Mango Tango & Life Support). I enjoyed their Mango Tango. Who doesn't like fresh juice with natural sweetness coming from the mango? Nevertheless, the price was truly on the higher side: $8 and some change after tax! Well, those who would be able to afford Pr*da, Bur*erry, To*y Bur*h, and some luxury brands can certainly afford Freshii on a regular basis.
Their salads are, for the most part, vegetarian-friendly, unless a choice of protein is added for an additional cost. The "Market" salad features kale, genoa rice, cranberries, apples, avocado, and spinach. I wish they included a special salad dressing to boost up the flavor.
Overall, Freshii unlikely will get my repeated businesses. It may rank supreme in comparison to other American-Chinese food or some other pseudo-Italian pizza place, but after all it's just a type of franchise that is meant to live at the food court in an American mall.
