Freycinet Lodge (Coles Bay, Tasmania) 1 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The utterly unique Freycinet Peninsula is a tiny appendage sticking off the sparsely populated east side of the island of Tasmania, which is itself set a hundred miles off the south coast of the not exactly crowded nation of Australia. So suffice it to say, if you make it as far as Coles Bay, you’ve really gotten somewhere. You won’t likely find yourself just passing through — and the Freycinet Lodge is a worthy destination." - Tablet Hotels

We loved our stay at Freycinet Lodge in a Coastal Pavilion. The setting inside Freycinet National Park is stunning with easy access to the Wineglass Bay / Hazards Beach hike just a short drive away.||Our pavilion (Room 62) was beautifully designed with wooden paneling and huge floor-to-ceiling windows that made the space feel open and connected to the landscape. This room, along with 61, is tucked a bit more into the foliage, private and serene. Rooms 63 and 64 offer a mix of bay views and greenery. For those chasing the best views, Rooms 65 and 66 overlook the bay directly, though they’re a bit more exposed to the sun.||The large outdoor deck has a dining table, lounge chairs, and a soaking tub. Inside, the living area was comfortable with couches, and the bathroom featured a spacious rain shower. The thoughtful touches made it feel luxurious yet relaxed: complimentary Wi-Fi, free mini bar with drinks and snacks, a bottle of wine on arrival, and even a yoga mat, board games, and a Bluetooth speaker for entertainment. Also appreciated the free self-serve laundry and the breakfast each morning which was a continental buffet plus a hot menu cooked to order.||For its high price point, wish front desk service was better. Had booked a Coles Bay Kayaking trip, and the unfriendly receptionist told us to call ourselves to confirm the meeting time. Would have appreciated if they had made the call on our behalf, especially since the trip is run by the hotel. ||Overall, Freycinet Lodge combines modern comfort with a peaceful, natural setting. Whether you’re here to hike, unwind, or just soak in the beauty of Tasmania’s east coast, this is the perfect place to stay. Highly recommend the Coastal Pavilions.

Lovely spot, deep within the national park. Great staff and service. The rooms were okay without being amazing (had a family suite). The dining room and lounge are great though the kitchen can be a little slow, food is great however. Cannot speak more highly of the staff at the lodge, they’re all so great. Plenty of wildlife as well.

The location is stunning and all staff are lovely and helpful. Our cabin was spacious, clean, and well presented, but the decor is outdated. There was a bathtub with a view, but we didn't use it as ants were crawling on the edges. There is no streaming service. The price of over $1200 for two people a night included a complimentary bottle of bubbly and breakfast. Dinner at the restaurant where we had breakfast was nice but too expensive for what it was. There's also a nice and more casual restaurant. Altogether, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay, but I doubt we'll be happy to pay this much if we revisit Freycinet.

Wonderful stay in their accessible Lodge King (room 80) which is conveniently close to lobby/restaurant/laundry. Great views and spacious. Nice minibar with drinks included. Staff service was great. Restaurant was wonderful. This is the only resort with a private jetty where Wineglass Bay cruise boat will pick you up. Just ask front desk to inform cruise company :) Extremely memorable stay !

From the warm welcome we received from Ana during our respective (two couples) check-ins, to Tiffany farewelling us, we couldn't find fault with a single member of the team at Freycinet Lodge. We always received warm and friendly service, and we were treated as valued guests, not just as customers. Lars, Pau, and a few other team members provided attentive service every time we dined in Bay Restaurant (twice for dinner, and twice for breakfast). The location can't be beaten; it's in one of the most pristine and beautiful places any one of the four of us have ever visited (and each of us have been fortunate to travel extensively, both in Australia, as well as many countries overseas). While the bed wasn't as comfortable as I would have liked (or expected, for the price we paid for our accommodation), this wouldn't stop me from returning. The property is over thirty years old, and is beginning to show its age, but is obviously well-maintained.

Stayed for 4 nights in the Pavilions.||Pavilion accommodation is very nice and modern. But note, they only have glimpses of the water, which is fine, but the web site is mis leading on this point that they can see the water. ||It’s very quiet & peaceful place. Nice walks. ||The restaurant & bistro food is very average at best. And the breakfast food is appalling. ||Also the main lodge is in desperate need of a refurbishment and some love and tender care. It’s big and characterless. ||We asked for room service one night. They said they don’t officially offer it, but they got the Bistro to send it over one night. No cutlery and the food was inedible, ||Staff were super friendly. ||All up for $1200+ per night, they need to lift their game.

My fiance and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The room and staff were amazing. Our only letdown is the menu options at the restaurant, we thought being a secluded place there would be more of a menu, as staying 3 nights was a bit much of a letdown we got over it with the limited menu.

This is a hard review to make. My wife and I just stayed here for 3 nights for our 15 year wedding anniversary. We stayed here 16 years ago when we got engaged and loved it back then. This time around it feels like the place hasn't changed much and that perhaps is part of the issue. The decor is old and worn and just didn't have the vibe you'd expect when paying close to $1000 a night. I think in this regards you're paying for the location rather than the facilities. Our room was nice enough but it had spider webs everywhere on the inside and a giant huntsmen inside as well. We also booked the room with the outdoor bath based on the pics from the website, but when we got to our room our bath had no view aside from a fence (website had much better views portrayed). The other issues is the restaurant. It was fine for breakfast, but for dinner it was way overpriced. We had just previously stayed in Hobart and had some epicly good food there so to come to "they bay" restaurant for dinner and be paying $45-$80 for main meals that were average at best was disappointing. I don't recommend the restaurant at all. Where the place shined was the service. All the people working there were helpful and talkative. One staff member in particular was super friendly and loved having a chat with us which I think always helps when you're staying at a hotel. That's why I've made my review a 4/5 as the surrounding area is totally worth seeing, but the price you pay for what you get is a bit high in my opinion.

Yelp
We stayed here to hike in the Freycinet Park. It was a great place to stay. Our room was spacious with a king sized bed, comfy pillows and a large bathroom. My fav was the wall of windows that provided views to the bush scenery outside our lodge. There was a tub outside and nice patio to enjoy nature. We peaked outside around 10pm and got a good view of the stars. The minibar is all free. Breakfast is included in your room cost. We also ate in the restaurant to great views of the water and delicious food. Staff was very welcoming and enhanced our stay. Great experience!

Yelp
Such a nice place to stay. Vith a marvelous view on the Coles bay from the restaurant and the terrace. The sunset is incredible ! The cabin was nice and pretty. Beds are confortable. The room was quite spacious for twoo with a big shower :-) The only problem with the room was the wifi. We were at the end of the lodges and we didn't received the signal... They are gentle and if you want to make a reservation for an activity, don't mind, just ask them they'll do for you. The breakfast buffet is incredible. English breakfast such as continental. Fresh products and they fill it regularly so you never miss something ! One regret for the breakfast is the lack of hot chocolate. You must buy it. If you want to enjoy a marvelous place with nice service and beautiful view, don't hesitate !
