Just in Time for Prime Pie Season, One Local Maker Lands a New Location - Eater Twin Cities

"Fruit and Grain, a farmer’s market favorite baker famous for its hand pie maker has landed a new commercial kitchen location inside Northern Coffeeworks. Eventually, the coffee shop at 1027 Washington Avenue South in Minneapolis, will also have walk up pie and hand pie pick ups available. Starting tomorrow, Fruit and Grain will begin taking Thanksgiving pie orders. Cakes and other treats will also be available for ordering ahead and, just like the farmer’s market stand, all the delicious treats are entirely nut-free." - Joy Summers

Today the daughter and I went on a walking tour of the Saint Anthony main area. Such a beautiful day for it. We stopped in for some beverages and light snack before beginning our tour...... Daughter got ice matcha latte and maple roll, she said the Matcha had too much milk in it but the maple roll was yummy Me ...... jalapeño and cheese scone and cappuccino, which my only complaint was the scone could of had a bit more heat otherwise I enjoyed bothering drink and scone We love the atmosphere so much and my daughter thinks it looks like a Harry Potter area, which she says is such a amazing vibe🥰

This new coffee shop is amazing, and I'm glad there is a book store so you can grab any book to read while having coffee there. The second floor is like an art museum and it's great for a group of friends to study or also perfect for a cute date as well. I got a matcha latte with chocolate croissant, and the staff were friendly.

First time here and had such a lovely experience! The scone + morning bun were exceptional and my maple latte was delicious. The baristas were so kind and helpful, great customer service! Will definitely return.

Overall a good place. Flat White is decent. Though the roast Leanne more fruity (I lean more choconutty w Flat Whites). Cablecar Donuts are good. Great atmos within a really nice bookstore. Nice music w great selection.

Google
What is this. I asked for a dulce de leche iced latte with light ice and they leave a centimeter of space on my cup what a joke. Plus it was over 8$ for a 14oz coffee? And finally although what I could taste was good, I could barley taste the flavoring. What a waste of money. Not coming back again for coffee

Great atmosphere for work/school or to just chill. I got a chai latte with oat milk and enjoyed it. The best part? I love the open concept. There’s seating area that is nicely spaced apart and it’s connected to other cute shops. The worst part? Nothing to add! Staff was kind and the place is definitely a great spot.

Google
My go-to spot for a latte and old-fashioned donut combo. Relaxed atmosphere with study and social options. Facility - There are counter options with outlets for charging and comfy high-chair seating. Tables line the street-side windows. Additional tables and leisure seating are available. Coffee - My standard is a caramel latte. In the mornings you may have to ask for the drink in a mug or they will default to a to go cup due to the higher traffic. The coffee is flavorful and they serve coffees from over two dozen vendors. The latte I get is sweet but not overpowering. The art is on point. Staff - The baristas are friendly and helpful with decision-making. They are a diverse group and it is neat to see their individual flair. Aura - The atmosphere is laid back and people are subdued and mostly working or chatting. No music is present. The are is open and well lit. Parking - There is free lot parking on the east side of the building. Paid street parking is available in front of the location.

This new coffee shop is amazing!! Not only is the coffee excellent, but the baked goods are fantastic. It's in a beautiful space with lots of seating and a bookstore. Highly recommend stopping at one of their locations, but the Mills District is awesome.

Yelp
Best coffee in the area! Wonderful location with parking (can fill up on the weekends). I don't know that a better coffee place exists.

Yelp
One word - cute! I work around the corner from the Open Book FRGMNT location and had no idea it had opened! So don't miss it like me hahaha. It's a picture perfect place to work from, with plenty of tables and a calming, book store vibe! I was in the mood for a vanilla oat milk matcha latte, and it didn't disappoint! I would ask for two pumps of vanilla next time - I like it sweet! It was roughly $7, so by no means cheap, but... Support small! I have to comment on the lemon curd donut I had... The best ever. EVER. Soft, sweet, fresh, mmm. Shoutout to Cardigan donuts who supplies them! I stopped in to the shop around noon, and there were still plenty of donuts and pastries to go around! I didn't have time to check out the book store or gift shop, but if you're a book person - this is probably heaven! All in all worth stopping in.

Yelp
The location and space are really nice because you can hang out/work in the space or stop by the book shop and stationery store nearby. However, the selection for the coffee and food was not exciting. The milk options were only whole, oat, and something else (maybe almond) which is surprising because I don't think I've ever been to a place that primarily sells coffee without skim or 2%. I also got one of the classic looking donuts with glaze and I think I would've preferred some Dunkin munchkins for the price. The people working there were nice and I got my coffee quickly; however, I can't justify a return visit when the price was steep and I couldn't even get what I really wanted with limited milk options.

Yelp
Great service and friendly staff but the drinks have mostly been a hit and miss for me. Great spot if you're student or just need a quiet space to finish up some reading.

Yelp
Excellent oat milk cortado. Cortado is a short espresso with milk and little foam. The temperature was perfect as was the coffe milk ratio and execution. And the have great pastries. I had a morning bun. Yum!

Yelp
Americano was poor. Scone great. But your a coffee place. Maybe it was an off day. Your coffee has to be above Sbux to draw more. Isn't.

Bridget D.

Yelp
Great coffee and amazing pastry selection! Friendly staff and great space for getting work done!

Yelp
I accidentally stumbled into this location and I'm glad I did! Located in the Open Book, this coffee shop shares a space with Milkweed book store and publishing company, Loft Literary Center and Minnesota Center for Book Arts. It's quieter and a great study spot (although spaces are very limited). The menu is the same as other Frgmnt locations with good coffee and some pastries/sandwiches available. It's also all counter service so you go up to order and bring it back to your seat.

Yelp
Ugh, you had to do the drop-the-vowels naming thing? Coffee is fine, just overpriced, and snobbish. But my gripe is with the trendy vowel-less spelling - especially in this case because I don't know how to pronounce it. Frigment? Fridgemont? Would it kill you to just name it, and spell it, something normal?

Yelp
After reading about this place in the Mpls St Paul magazine I had to check it out. Worked there for a bit while enjoying a delicious latte and a bakery treat. I love the aesthetic. Sometimes it helps to do my work from someplace pretty and the plants and sunshine here fit the bill. Lots of people working remotely, fun, sophisticated atmosphere.

Yelp
Great cappuccino, perfectly smooth and tasty. Almond croissant was flaky, chewy and delicious.

Yelp
Great new cafe in Mill District East! Delicious coffee and great space! Also has some nice cafe items and sandwiches.
