Friccico Ristorante - Review - Portuense - Rome - The Infatuation

"What makes Friccico's saltimbocca unique is the use of cortile, which in this case meant farmyard duck. It’s a bit tougher than veal, but its edges get super crispy, as does the lonza—a cured pork loin, leaner than prosciutto. The super pungent sage not only tops the cutlet but is also fried and used as a garnish on top. But beyond all this creativity, what really makes the dish stand out is its sauce. The duck’s internal parts are slow-braised for hours, adding a depth deeper than Rome’s ancient aqueducts. Try it at this Portuense spot when you stop by for a casual dinner. Such an amazing experience. We went here in a Saturday night without a reservation. The was only one waitress and she happily gave us a table. She was rushed off her feet but still happy and welcoming, she was fantastic. The food was unbelievably good. We had zucchini flowers, primi (one with duck, one with guincale), and beef tartare. Absolutely amazing. Can’t recommend this place enough.

I had the pleasure of dining at this charming restaurant, and I must say it exceeded my expectations in every way. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a delightful ambiance. The menu truly impressed me, offering a diverse selection of delectable dishes predominantly featuring meat and fish. However, to my delight, the vegetarian options I tried were equally delightful and bursting with flavor. The attentive service provided by the waitstaff deserves special mention. Our waitress was not only friendly and accommodating but also displayed exceptional fluency in English, making the entire dining experience even more enjoyable. She went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met, providing valuable recommendations and ensuring a seamless dining experience from start to finish. The attention to detail in both the cuisine and service is truly commendable. Each dish was prepared with evident skill and passion, leaving a lasting impression on my taste buds. The restaurant’s dedication to quality ingredients and culinary craftsmanship was evident in every bite. Additionally, the cozy ambiance of the restaurant added to the overall charm. The tasteful decor and soothing background music created a relaxed and inviting atmosphere, making it an ideal place for an intimate dinner or a gathering with loved ones. In conclusion, this restaurant has left an indelible mark on my culinary journey. It beautifully combines a welcoming ambiance, an impressive menu encompassing a range of meat, fish, and vegetarian options, and exceptional service that truly sets it apart. Whether you’re a meat lover, a seafood enthusiast, or a vegetarian seeking delightful options, this restaurant is sure to satisfy your cravings and provide a memorable dining experience.

Found us a table for 4 at short notice on a Saturday evening. Excellent from start to finish. Quality ingredients, imaginative dishes created by the chef served by his wife. We enjoyed anti pasta de la casa , excellent home made foi gras, tasty pasta dishes including scampi sauce with homemade pasta. The duck main was very tasty. Well selected wines. Very reasonably priced. The restaurant was filled with locals. Always a good sign.

This was a really great surprise. Nestled in Colli Portuensi, this little and simple restaurant offers a very different proposition to the usual Roman fare. The food is very particular, offering a lot of fame of great quality and superbly cooked by the chef. A lot of research seems to have gone in the selection of km-0 ingredients with even the most basic of vegetables being incredibly tasty and flavoursome. The team put together an intriguing menu full of unusual meats like goose, rabbit amongst other options, offered in a variety of cooking methodologies created in house using old typical recipes of times gone by. The wine selection was adequate and temperature of the wine served sublime. The service was a little slow due to the family run enterprise but extremely attentive and Serena was very keen on telling us snd showing us all the care and love that goes in each dish. I’d highly recommend booking this place as its an hidden gem in Rome. Bravissimi

This was hands down the best restaurant we went to while in Rome. That’s saying a lot given that this visit included two other Michelin star restaurants. The personal touch and warm reception immediately made us feel welcome and like VIPs. From the golden age music to the elegant dinner plates and silverware to the twinkling lights and specials on the chalkboard, this place has charm and grace. Even more remarkable is the food. The in-house made foie gras is incredible and was paired with an incredible onion jam. I had it with a muscato. The filet with truffles was perfectly seared and generously topped with slices of very tasty black truffle. The fettuccine with truffles was also ridiculously delicious with just the right wine pairings. If that wasn’t enough, the service was as kind and friendly and respectfully but not overly attentive as ever found in Rome. You must try this restaurant because if you do, you’ll just want to go back and have them feed you forever.

THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO. My girlfriend and I were looking for a quiet place to have dinner during our first night in Rome. We stumbled on this place upon a quick google search and we are delighted we ended up here. The owners are a lovely couple - the wife was so helpful, kind and patient with explaining the menu to a non English speaker like me. Everything was delicious and we want to come back tomorrow! Grazie Mille!
