Frida's Modern Mexican

My husband and I have already gone TWICE. We fell in love with the wet burritos! Everything is served hot and fresh. The appetizers are so delicious I can't wait to try more of the menu. Waiter is kind and attentive. Would definitely recommend to anybody looking for something new and delicious.

Nice spot in the middle of Cambodia town. Food was delicious and tasted fresh. Service was good. Restaurant was clean. The painting of Frida and a parrot is really nice.

had the pleasure of dining at this establishment a while back, and I'm still thinking about what a wonderful experience it was. what truly made the visit stand out was the incredibly friendly and welcoming crew.

I had eaten here before when it was still called Azúcar and never came back. The sign with the new name caught my eye today so I stopped by for lunch and WOW. COMPLETELY DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE. The food was amazing and you can tell it’s made with love. The waitress was also incredibly friendly!! For anyone considering eating here, you can’t go wrong with the steak fajitas. Also they have micheladas 😋

As a person who loves to try new up and coming restaurants in our amazing Long Beach community, this particular one popped up on my IG feed. My partner and I were seeking out a new place to try and decided to try out Frida's modern Mexican. Upon arrival, the decor is very on trend, very modern, and super welcoming. There are many tables with plenty of room to be comfortable. The menu is super easy to read, even with ambient lighting. The menu offered an array of options which include gluten free (not a designated gluten free establishment. I am celiac and speaking for myself, I have had no issues.), vegan options, as well as seafood. The menu also offers dessert, beer, wine, sangria, fresh agua Fresca, and non alcoholic beverages. The first time, yes.. we have been twice already... I ordered a white wine, my partner a lagunitas ipa. For dinner I order the seafood soup, my partner the chicken fajitas. Both were absolutely delightful! My soup was incredible. It was guajillo chili based sauce which was light, aromatic, and very very savory. Inside was a variety of seafood of which included clams, mussels, shrimp, fish, and bay scallops. It also included fresh corn and lemon. My partner was quite impressed with his fajitas. He said the chicken was marinated, very moist, and flavorful. Our second time, I ordered the sangria which was delicious and made to order. We both ordered the enchiladas. Me the shrimp and him the chicken, both topped with red and green sauce served with rice and beans. We were once again blown away. The flavor was aromatic yet light, the protein was not overcooked, the rice was moist and not dry/sticking, the black beans were soooo goood! The service was awesome! I believe our server was Maribelle/maribella... pardon me if I messed it up. Either way, she was very attentive, answered all of our questions, came to engage and check on us throughout our dinning experience, and really left us feeling satisfied and valued as a new guest at Frida's. Delicious food, good portions, and great salsas! Excited to have a spot with solid vegan Mexican food. We got the vegan fajitas and the seared tofu was perfect.

We ordered the Chaufa fried rice and Arroz Con Mariscos, very delicious! Enough food for two people to share. Also had a Sangria while my husband had a Michalada. Cute and quaint place with with a romantic atmosphere. Will definitely come back!

My girlfriend & I ordered takeout from here since we were in a rush & I've got to say we were blown out the water with how good the food was. We ordered the chimchurri steak & the pasta & they were both so flavor full & delicious. The place is small, but has a great vibe & the staff is very friendly & respectful. This place needs more attention!

The food was FANTASTIC!! However, they forgot my side of bacon!!!! AARRGGHH! It was supposed to go with my breakfast. That's the only reason they didn't get a five. AAANNDDD..... the Customer service was goo and when I called to ask about the bacon, the gentleman did ACKNOWLEDGE that the cook/ whomever overlooked it and offered to fix it. Hold on... they deserve a 5, my BAD. lol (changing rating from 4 to 5. The chilaquiles was very good and the best part was the over medium eggs! It was PERFECT! It was my first time trying this dish and it was very good. I still prefer my eggs without the extra stuff! lol

Food was tasteful and delicious. The ambiance is chill and welcoming. The service excellent! Such a small but cozy place to have a beer or wine. Their menu has a mixture of classic Mexican with a touch of Peruvian food. Just the right touch of modern cuisine. A must try for all Long Beach locals. Take a brisk walk or ride your bikes parking is limited. Oh, and yes, they have vegan options!

I ordered the carnitas wet burrito. It was a delicious flavor explosion. The lemonade was light and refreshing. Side of beans paired well with chips. Delicious!

Absolutely amazing spot! I had their steak fajitas and it was way way waaaayyy better than Los Compadres! Definitely coming back here! The service and ambiance was also excellent and welcoming.

Honestly the tastiest green chile shrimp enchiladas I've ever had. Rice and black beans were great also....along with the service. Will definitely be back soon.

The food was delicious from start to finish! The seafood soup was warm and flavorful, packed with fresh ingredients. The fish tacos were crispy and perfectly seasoned, and the street corn had the perfect mix of creamy, cheesy, and spicy. The rice with mariscos was rich and satisfying, full of tender seafood. To top it off, the churros with ice cream were the perfect sweet ending--crispy, warm, and paired perfectly with the cold ice cream. Great service and very calm place to eat !Would definitely come back!
