Tried for the first time today on Taco Tuesday! and we loved it. All fresh ingredients including tortillas! Those birria tacos were amazing. Salsa and fresh juices were also very good. Regardless of the busy Tuesday, staffs were very friendly and nice! We will come back again.

Google
This was my first time here. I got the Adobada tacos with everything on it, and bottle Coca-Cola. The Tacos were really good. They are street taco tortillas but they do fill it up which is nice. Unfortunately the cola from the fridge wasnt very cold which was a bummer. The biggest downside was the outdoor seating. There was lots of flies all over the tables and chairs. They had those smelly fly trap jugs hanging from the top of the tents. You order inside but your served outside. Which I cant help but notice that flies do land on everything out there so..... chances are they probably land on the food. I didn't see any employees go outside to wipe the tables or change the trash which was over flowing. Overall I don't think I will come eat here just because of the sanitation concerns for me. If you do order food I suggest you take it too go.

Portions are huge. Love the outdoor patio seating! Was about to take my doggo in his stroller. Food was delicious and priced nice. Only problem was there was no bathroom. So just p33 before coming. Definitely will come back for more.

Al Pastor was pretty good. Carne asada was also fairly decent. Not the best I've ever had but good food. The strawberry lemonade was surprisingly really good. Not a fan of the setup. At 10am just one grill man and had to wait for each order to be completed. Al Pastor is not carved off fresh, so that was disappointing. Parking sucks, so just be aware of that.

Google
Authentic Mexican street style tacos. $1.99/ taco on Tuesday's and Thursday's all day. Absolute favorite. They do have multiple locations all in the North County area

Google
These tacos were awesome. I had the al pastor as part of my taco tour of Escondido. They didn't have fish tacos to compare to the other stops... These may be the best combination to date. I also had the queso taco with birria not knowing what to expect. Best way I could describe it is an open face quesadilla. The setup is a bit strange on the first visit. You order at the cashier then have to stand in line at the grill. There was only one chef at the grill which caused a back up. This was after the lunch hour rush. Not a big deal if you aren't in a hurry. Relax and enjoy the tacos, but make sure to find a table with napkins first...

When you visit Escondido, you need to check out Frida! It’s a great spot for Mexican food with a nice ambiance. I recommend trying the beef and pork tacos, and their strawberry juice is super refreshing! The space is big, so it’s perfect for relaxing with friends and family. The cashier was friendly and helpful, answering my questions and suggesting their best sellers. The only downside is that the outdoor area could use some attention, there were a lot of flies, which made it hard to fully enjoy our meal without constantly guarding our food and drinks.

Google
Even though it was Taco Tuesday, during the time I arrived, the line went by quickly enough that I paid and got my order in a timely manner. Portions were smaller than usual but for the price you can’t beat it elsewhere. Always a good place to go when your craving a good taco. Just be mindful of the waiting times. 4/5

Yelp
Food: Great tasting tacos, great flavors and spice to the salsas & the drinks here taste refreshing. Service: Quick, easy to order and professional staff thus far. Ambiance: Clean and professional. Outside and inside seating. The bathroom has been clean every time I've been here. Parking is atrocious. Make sure to not park in the wrong spot or you can be towed or you can park down the block around the corner. That's about the only bad thing about it here.
google avatar

Yelp
They have several locations in North County. If you enter from the back, you will see an outdoor, shaded patio with cooks preparing the food. I saw people waiting in line so I thought that was the line to order but you actually order inside, then they will give you a receipt, then you go back outside to give the cook your receipt order. Maybe a sign saying this would be helpful because several people did not know where to order. They serve tacos, burritos, quesadillas, fresh juices & more. I went for Taco Tuesday where they have deals all day! I ordered Carne Asada Taco, Birria Quesataco & Chicharron Taco. The tacos were just okay & unfortunately, the Chicharron looked like a glob of straight up fat that I lost my appetite.

Yelp
Walked in around 11 and it was pretty dead. Couple of customers finishing their meals. I get to the counter and I'm greeted by younger girl who quite clearly has no sense of what customer service is and doesn't want to be there. I place my order and she says, in a very soft spoken voice barely audible over the loud music, something about my ticket and the food window. I assumed she meant they'd call my number. So I walk over to the salsa bar and grab a couple things and she grabs the ticket off my table and says in the most dismissive way possible, "I said you have to take it to the cook to make your food." Who does this? You know they make ticketing systems that will print the order automatically for the chefs? Or does that make too much sense? I proceed to the cooks counter ticket in hand and he starts making my food. A short while lady another patron, just as confused as I am by the lack of class and explanation from the girl at the counter, attempts to get her food without her ticket. And the poor cook in broken English is trying to explain it to her. Probably not the best system, Fridas. Anyway so I get my food and he made me Carne asada fries when I wanted Al Pastor fries from that gigantic trompo in the window. He says I'm sorry, and points at the ticket which says clear as day, "Carne Asada". Mrs. Nonchelance at the front counter strikes again. I'll take some blame for this one too because I should have double checked my ticket. So I sit down to eat and the fries are pale, soft, and lack flavor. The Carne Asada was dry and charred to hell. The generic salsas do very little to salvage the situation. The Carne Asada Quesa taco doesn't do any better. Maybe a slight tick above Albertos but not much. Not to mention this whole meal cost me over $30 dollars. Tl;dr: Bad service, mediocre food, frustrating process. Go to TJ tacos a couple blocks down. It's a shame they call this place Frida's, because there is zero art.

Yelp
We decided to go Sunday evening around 6:20, restaurant was moderately busy but the line moved quickly. Food was excellent, fresa lecha was a strawberry milk aguafresca was a nice surprise! We ordered, birria, quesabirria, and pastor tacos. Quesabirria is worth the price but I would still get some original tacos too. The seating was very open, family friendly, great atmosphere. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
We've been to Frida's three now and each time has been amazing and I think is our new go to spot when we're in the area!! Notable standouts are the quesatacos and campanchana fries with carne asada and adobada. I can't wait until my next trip because there's so many other items I want to try!! The service is always friendly and helpful and we really enjoy the vibes!

Yelp
FRIDA's TAQUERIA @ Escondido This place was so incredible, every single experience for me from food, service, and ambiance was OUTSTANDING! My best friend and I decided to stop by here, parking is available for street and there's a plenty. We came here on a Tuesday, and the have $1.99 tacos each instead of the original price of $3.49. You have to go inside first to order, and then go outside to get your tacos. We got 4 adobada tacos, and a horchata and strawberry milk. The horchata wasn't my favorite (my friend ordered that one) and it was a bit bland. However, I was OBSESSED with how good the strawberry milk was, the lady allowed me to have a sample and it was so fresh, had strawberry bits, and was such a delicious sweet drink. It can be a bit sweet, but i personally really loved it, and it balanced well with the ice. Tacos took a bit long because it was busy. Once the tacos arrived, we then went to the side bar that had all sorts of sauces, limes, and containers for us to even put it in. I really loved how easy and organized everything was. The tacos were juicy, and they were not skimpy with the meat and the avocado! Overall, I would highly recommend stopping by this place, the ambiance was clean, and everything was just an incredible experience!

Yelp
Definitely a great experience here! I've always wanted to try this establishment ever since I saw it in Vista. If you're familiar with certain Mexican establishments like Tacos el Gordo or TJ's Tacos, the set-up is pretty much the same where you need to give your receipt to the chef/kitchen to pick up your order. My husband & I ordered the Birria fries, Birria burrito and the mango agua frescas. We were so torn with their drink assortments because we love the drinks! The cashier was nice enough to give us samples of two different mango drinks, which helped our decision so much more. We had the chance to sit outside in the back to enjoy the sunny weather. When you look around, it's set up with a nice tent with fairy lights hanging, with another kitchen area set up in the back for outdoor events I assume? It was cool seeing the ambiance that way. Food rating: Birria fries - 10/10. The Birria soaks up the flavor of the fries sooo much and it was not soggy when consumed fresh. It was probably my favorite Birria fries by far. Birria burrito - 3/10. Probably not the best decision to get a Birria burrito as well since it was so heavy. The Birria meat was not chopped up finely for the burrito making it very chewy and unenjoyable to eat. This was my least favorite thing on the menu. Mango milk agua frescas - 10/10. The flavors of the drink definitely hit the spot to balance out the saltiness in our food. It had such a sweet milk flavor & it was so refreshing! Overall, we would definitely come back again to try their tacos and drinks.

Yelp
I would say if it's your first time the process of ordering and receiving your order could be confusing. Defiantly ask about that process or you could be waiting for a long time. There is plenty of seating indoors and outside as well but parking seems to be limited on busier days/times. The food is amazing. I would order to your taste because everything I've had has always been delicious. I often fight myself deciding whether or not I like TJ tacos more and my friends seem divided on which is better as well. This is my current favorite mexican food in North County. My go to is the Al Pastor fries :)
google avatar

Yelp
Great food! Service is efficient and everyone there is very courteous. I recommend the carne asada fries or burrito de asada. You can't go wrong with that! The horchata is also tasty. I like the outside eating setting. Ambiance is your typical taco truck spot but with a brick and mortar.

Yelp
Easy 10 stars for me. Our party tried three aguas frescas (pepino y limon, leche de mango, and watermelon). All 10/10 The tres leches is the best I've ever had. It was soaking wet. I believe it's supplied by a local home baker? Not sure though. Hats off to them. We had adobada nachos, and the adobada was flavorful and tender, no gristle anywhere. The nachos have both shredded cheese and NACHO cheese, which I usually only see in more American style restaurants. Hats off to alllllll the cheese on our nachos. We also got carnitas mulitas for someone with a cilantro allergy, and they kept all the cilantro off, which never happens at any restaurant we've been to. They usually end up putting MORE on Both indoor and outdoor seating have a really cool vibe to them. This location is definitely "instagram worthy" The worker taking our order was patient and helpful, and she had a smile on her face. This might be our new favorite stop.

Yelp
Two stars and revise once it opens again. It has been closed for at least 5 days, what's the reason?

Yelp
Went for taco Tuesday and I will be back! Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. There was a bit of a line but it moved fairly quickly. I tried the pastor, birria, carnitas and cabeza... hands down the cabeza was my favorite!
google avatar

Yelp
Fast drinks are so good!!!! I usually get the mango water but this time I got the pineapple and it's so good too. Also tried the Tamarindo. I really don't think there's any bad flavor. Also tried their loaded baked potato and it is huge!!! So much topics.

Yelp
I have been trying to try Frida for a while and since I was at the Escondido library with a friend and it was both lunch time and Taco Tuesday, I proposed to her to go there. The mural of Frida outside is spectacular and the design is cool. The patio in the back is great but the music is extremely loud and impossible to hold a conversation. The line was long, after all $1.99 each taco seems pretty cheap these days. Tacos were well presented and abundant avocado but...they were pretty much tasteless and the quality of the meat was not great. Not the best tacos I have had, just regular in a nice environment (except for the loud music). I also had the mango guava drink and left it intact, it was so sweet I would not tolerate the amount of sugar and chunky pieces. Do not recommend that drink.

Yelp
Taco Tuesday is a must here! The service js always speedy and you definitely leave stuffed

Yelp
My orders: Asada, adobada, birria tacos Pros + Salsa bar: I'm a sucker for sauce. + Freshness: the mango beverage was amazing! You can find street parking easily on a weekday. I stopped by for lunch on a Wednesday
google avatar

Yelp
Frida's taqueria was tasty! I came here on a Saturday afternoon before a long line formed. The parking was difficult, but I found a spot on the street and walked over. Once I got there, I saw so many options on the menu that I had to take a moment to really think about it. I landed on getting a carne asada burritos and an horchata. The drink was massive and delicious! The burrito took a while to make but it was super yummy too. They have plenty of sauces and sides, but I just stuck with lime. The burrito was simple but had really good flavor. The interior was cute and they had a lot of seating in an outside patio. Overall, I enjoyed it and my friends liked it too! Prices were standard. You can't beat San Diego Mexican food :)
google avatar

Nicholas G.

Yelp
I highly recommend getting their loaded fries. Wash it down with one of the agua frescas. Everything is amazing here! Service is great. Pay at the register and pick up your drink there if you purchased one. Next, bring your receipt to the counter at the grill and watch as your order is made before you. Ambiance is ok... it's very dependent on the weather. The place has an open air vibe. If it's cold out, it's going to be cold there too. Vice-versa for a hot day, although they have plenty of coverage to keep the sun and rain off you as you enjoy the most delicious food fresh from the grill. Five stars for the food! Definitely in my top three for Mexican restaurants (maybe it's #1). A must try if in Escondido.

Corina B.

Yelp
I always get the same thing, veggie tacos, and they never disappoint. I wish more places did their veggie tacos like this.

Yelp
This place needs to start telling every single guest that once they order their food, they need to walk OUTSIDE and hand the receipt to the cooks directly for your food to be made. We ordered our food and sat for 15-20 minutes until we got up and figured it out ourselves. Not even seconds after we realized this, I heard another guest asked if his order number was called, and they asked if he gave his receipt to the cook. He said no, so he was waiting for nothing like we were. When we figured this out, there was a HUGE line to give the cook our order. We waited in line another 15 mins, then it took 15 mins to make our food. This place is so dumb. They charge you for food and dont care whether you get it or not. It's your job as the customer to make sure the cooks make it. They seriously need to change this set up or start TELLING guests so guests arent sitting around getting mad and wasting their time. The food isnt even that good to waste my time like this. It's also absolutely freezing here. No heating. Really bad service.
google avatar

Jonathan T.

Yelp
Food is incredible! They only had one person filling orders on a busy Friday night. Something seemed off. But the food was great. The bean and cheese burrito was $10 so I canceled that. Love the food. Can't wait to return. Hopefully they'll have more staff next visit. GREAT FOOD.

Yelp
TL;DR: Mixed taco tasting at Frida's with a decent Al Pastor but underwhelming Asada and Chicharron. 3/5 Your Thoughts? 1/2 The Al Pastor tacos at Frida's Taqueria were decent. Both the Asada and Chicharron tacos missed the mark for me though due to a lack of flavor and texture issues. Expenses: .5/1 Bit overpriced for the quality & flavor. Location: 1/1 Clean location, cool staff, some parking available, and able to pay via debit card. Possibility of a Future Visit & Recommendation: .5/1 Despite the mixed results with some of the tacos, the al pastor is decent and one of my go-tos so I'd come back but wouldn't fully recommend this spot since some of the staples like asada were lacking in flavor.

Yelp
Love their meat, very well flavored. Their burritos and tacos are very delicious. I always grab a watermelon drink. My husband loves their Mango passion fruit Agua Fresca. He loves their Aguas Frescas the most this is why he likes this place. I like their meat. Overall the food and drinks are good. The guys in the back work fast. The girls taking the orders could be a little more friendly overall is good. We always order to go. The place is normally always busy and with music playing. One of my favorite places in Escondido.
google avatar

Khrystina R.

Yelp
Heard really good reviews about this place so I definitely wanted to try it. It's well organized, ordering up front and food pick up in the back. You tell the cooks how you want your meal, salsa/ no salsa, guac/no guac etc. I had the quesotacos- 1 asada and 1 pastor. The tacos are a good size for the price point. The asada was ok in taste, the pastor was better. Horchata had a good flavor to it, so definitely recommend. Even though they had seating indoor and out the place was packed so seating was limited. All staff we encountered were very nice. Would like to try a different location.

Yelp
LOVE love love this spot. Everything hits the spot. Their queaabirria and consume are amazing alongside any of their daily fresh agua frescas. My husband and I also love the carne asada fries. Staff here is very friendly and personable. Ambiance feels like a classic taco stand in Mexico where I used to live. Very sweet and nostalgic. Will be back over and over for this food

Yelp
Tacos were pretty good. Birria tacos has a nice kick of spice. The adobada nachos were ehhh. The cheese doesn't taste too good. There is a great amount of seating outside & also a great amount of flies!!! Inside seating is super hot. Also the parking sucks u need to park in the back very dark and sketchy area. Service was good people are very accommodating.

Yelp
Whoa what happened to this location :( I stopped by 12:45PM today and ordered 4 tacos Carnitas, asada and adobada , 2 aguas frescas and a burrito. We were enjoying our time here until we went outside to have our tacos made. The cooks were drying up dirty red trays where they serve the tacos on for customers to eat off of. I noticed some of the trays had wet old cooked meat and old cilantro on them.... They were all soaking wet and I could even smell the rag they were using to dry them it smelled gross. While drying their dirty trays they had the same gloves on to make tacos. I was honestly grossed out. They had no grilled onions and carnitas were not available either so I had to get something else to replace my carnitas taco. This location has become a nasty mess!

Yelp
Can't go wrong with Frida's!!! Quality and tasty dishes, very generous and delicious. Great seating area outside to smell the smoke from the grill giving an authentic atmosphere of casual dining. The cashier was very friendly and very polite. She easily fills the cups of aqua frescos like a professional. Lots of sauces to choose from. Street parking.

Yelp
Yummy yummmy!! Tacos r amazing Asada was my fav! Birria was great too Pollo not so good Drinks r huge && delicious Hot sauces r perfect! Very busy on a Saturday night, open late and no parking. We went back for more!!

Yelp
I love their veggie tacos... they are so flavorful and delicious. Go there now if you need a great taco fix.

Yelp
Food was really good here. Great service. Clean. Lots of seating both indoors and outdoors. They have outdoor patio heaters for outdoor seating at night. We ordered Asada Fries, Birria Burrito, 2x Asada Tacos. Best Asada fries we've had. Birria was too much meat for burrito filling but it was good. They add cilantro and onions in the burrito. Would ask for beans or other ingredients in burrito next time. Tacos were really good. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
If you come here bc TJ's is too packed, head your ass back to TJ's. TRUST. This spot was so whack, the girl at the counter was definitely not paying attention to me and was paying attention to some older cat behind the counter (my female intuition told me it was bc mistress vibes fs lol ) I ordered carne asada fries and they were soggy, not seasoned enough, and just lacking in presentation and flavor. My mans got some tacos and a mulita and it was pretty bad, totally fell apart and super soggy. Definitely not coming back here.. I've been to other locations and they were great but this one definitely disappointed me
google avatar

Yelp
Fridas Taqueria has set the bar to the point where I refuse get tacos, aguas frescas, and burritos anywhere else. Clean and quaint shop, with a huge kitchen in the back shop that emphasizes a focus on food. When you walk in and see the meat spinning on the rotisserie, dripping in its own fat, with a pineapple on top to let the acidity tenderize everything, you'll know you came to the right spot. Food is made to order right in front for you to watch, with toppings added or excluded as requested. As you're waiting in the line outside, you can't help but feel you hit the jackpot for discovering this place. This place is usually packed, with everyone from families to the younger crowd. Good music, friendly staff, this place has the experience down to a tee. I moved to San Marcos recently and discovering this place was probably the best thing to happen since.

Yelp
PARKING Parking in the back is hard, but not impossible. SERVICE As we were walking up to order, I was excited to see they had a taco tuesday offer for $1.99 any taco. After I said my order, I noticed that I was being charged full price for the tacos and not the taco tuesday offer. I came for a late lunch around 2pm, so they definitely have been serving people the taco tuesday deal for awhile already, so that's super sus. Despite almost being jipped, the people who made the tacos in the 2nd line outside were very nice and fast. FOOD Cabeza Taco - my favorite, the meat was very tender and flavorful Adobada Taco - flavor was good, but cooked very dry Carne Asada Taco - this was cooked well and also very tasty Horchata - tasty, not too sweet Overall, the tacos and drinks here are good, I would definitely recommend to visit when they have their taco tuesday promo, but check to make sure you're not being overcharged!

Yelp
Great staff great service. Food was made quickly and fresh. We sat inside but they have outside seating. Love this place my favorite in Escondido. Hoping the one in Temecula opens soon
google avatar

David N.

Yelp
They've moved the prep station from outside to inside, so getting your food is a little simpler. I don't recall seeing the big beautiful Adobada stack on the vertical roaster last time, but it makes the best possible Adobada/Pastor!

Yelp
The line was hella long out the door. I thought it was going to be in and out, BUT no. I just wanted a pina drink. It was pretty crowded. Parking situation at this establishment is really bad.

Yelp
I was on my way to TJ Tacos but remembered I would pass Frida's on the way so I decided to switch it up and try this place out. For one you've gotta find street parking and honestly if I wouldn't have found a spot I would've taken it as a sign to go to TJ Tacos instead but I ended up finding a place to park. As I walked up I saw the lady outside heating the tortillas. I was a little surprised that the tortillas were not homemade and instead from Northgate. Nothing wrong with that though. It was taco Tuesday so the tacos were $1.99. I ordered an asada, al pastor, pollo and carnitas tacos with a horchata aguas Fresca and a mango aguas Fresca. The tacos were pretty good. Nothing to write home about. I prefer TJ Tacos, especially their Al pastor. Also, they did not have pineapple to top my Al pastor taco. Sorry, I like what I like. The mango aguas Fresca was the bomb! The horchata one was just ok. Overall the service was great. I liked that you order and then you go to the back and wait in line to have your order made in front of you. It wasn't too crowded so there was plenty of seating inside and out. I think I would come back to try some of the other items on the menu if the line at TJ Tacos is too long.

Yelp
Hit another one of the 13 taco places on my San Diego taco list. Frida's was added to the list because a fellow San Diego Foodie group member said he prefers Frida's over TJ's. I can see why, and it was a good spot earning a solid "B" (or 3.5 stars), but I still prefer TJ's. On a beautiful Tuesday morning, the regular ride with peeps was altered to come home via Escondido. But if we're gonna be in Escondido after 32 miles, might as well go lunch on tacos! And off we went to Frida's. Love the outdoor dining space - vibrant, airy, and when riding, a place to park and watch the bikes. We got there before 12 and there was already a line-up. The $1.99 taco Tuesday was a very nice surprise. Two things stood out for me regarding the tacos. The good - they were served very hot! Almost too hot to handle, and it's the first time I experienced that. The bad - probably the smallest street tacos I've had. Sure, the meat looks piled on but the tortilla is probably a 1/2 to 1 inch smaller in diameter than other taco places. Taco asada: tortilla temp & texture is great, but rather flavorless. Beef was juicy, but underseasoned. I should have added some more mixings to my taco, but was a little lazy. The avocado did taste fresh. All in all, a "B-". Taco adobada: this one was interesting. I think the meat is prepared slightly differently from the other places like TJ's or el Gordo. The meat is all chopped up into little pieces, with more "crunch" (good), but a little drier and under seasoned. I wonder if they take a second step to char the meat after it's sliced off the spinning spit, and then chopped into little pieces? Hoping someone reading this review can explain. Anyway, it was a pretty good taco deserving a weak "B+" but to me, TJ wins on the seasoning & a tastier tortilla. Pineapple drink: this was pretty awesome after a bike ride. Big, cold, not crazy sweet with good pineapple flavor and lots of pineapple chunks on the bottom to chew on. Being taco Tuesday, the drink was more expensive than the two tacos! Nonetheless, it was a nice beverage deserving a strong B+. Finally, a warning regarding the restroom. There's only one of them for male & female around the back of the building, not the cleanest, but more importantly, the plumbing needs work. Hopefully that gets fixed soon! Worth a return visit when not on a time crunch. In fact, I may order a taco from Frida's, eat it, then immediately go to TJs ordering the same taco for a better comparison.

Yelp
This place was so crowded when I came. I love the vibes because most of the eating is outside and the food is being cooked outside as well. There are a ton of flavors of their aguas frescas that I need to try. I love the adobada tacos since it comes with a bunch of meat, onions, and guac on top. I tried the nachos and that was worth every dollar. The size is absolutely massive and there is so much meat on top. I am definitely coming back here. The prices are pretty cheap too and the workers are very efficient.

Yelp
Stopped here on Taco Tuesday. Crazy long line but it moved quickly. Had to park down the street as it was very busy. The tacos were great including the birria. I would go back for another taco Tuesday. The nachos looked really good too. Just a bit more effort than other places due to the line but it was worth the wait so I'll give them a 5.

Yelp
The line for this place was a little intimidating but we did go on a Taco Tuesday and it ended up being well worth it. Loved the carne asada and birria tacos though would go elsewhere for adobada. Really appreciated the salsa bar which happened to have cucumbers, which I don't usually see.

Yelp
Omg these tacos are amazing they were so good, made fresh. I don't care that they're $4 a piece they are so worth it. They are the closest thing I've had to legit tj tacos. Their agua frescas were so good we had the cucumber pineapple and strawberry. Definitely my new go to place for tacos. They even give you grilled onions.

Yelp
The Tacos tasted great. My friend assumed the drinks were priced like similar establishments. Obviously they're making money by gouging on the price of the drinks - $6.50 for a fountain drink and $3.75 on a bottle of water that costs $.25. We were told they didn't serve free tap water. I felt terrible for my friend who's on a fixed income. Ripoff
