Fridays Creek Winery

Came in and did a tasting (5 wines each, $13.76 for two). I'm more of a dry red wine person, but I did enjoy most of the wines i tried. Nothing was overly or artificially on the sweet end. The owner is extremely laid back. We chatted with him for a bit about the grapes and the wines made on-site. We ended up getting a bottle and sat outside on the patio for a bit. Purchased a few bottles on the way out. If your looking for a nice and unfussy winery/vineyard give this place a shot.

Last minute drive out of town and stopped by here, it was a great experience all around. The wine was great and Frank one of the owners was great to chat with. The sweet wine was very tasty.

We were driving by last friday and saw this place. We stopped in to see the selection and left with a bottle of Friday Afternoon and a bottle of Cayuga White... AMAZING! Love them both! On top of that, Frank gave my children a bunch of carrots so they could feed the goats out back. They loved walking through the vineyard and especially the baby goat. Thanks Frank and we'll be back.

My partner & I came in for a tasting and ended up buying 2 bottles! Frank was so nice and chatted with us for the whole tasting. Tasting & bottles were both very reasonable, we will definitely be coming back with a picnic lunch this summer!

We stopped in for a tasting. The employee, who came out from the back without a mask, was generally unfriendly and unwelcoming. He was quick to tell us he wasn't going outside (we hadn't asked him but given the lack of mask would have been ideal) and that our dog wasn't welcome inside (again, we hadn't asked because usually dogs aren't allowed inside). Normally we might find the dog a shady spot to hang out for the few minutes it takes for a tasting, but given how unwelcoming the employee was and a prior review that said the wine wasn't terribly good anyway, we decided to continue on to Running Hare Winery. Glad we did because Running Hare had live entertainment, food trucks, wine slushies, and was generally a delightful experience. Wouldn't bother with this winery, just continue another 30 minutes to Running Hare.

Our group brought sandwiches with us to eat outside and we had a couple glasses of wine and a delicious wine slushy from Fridays Creek while we enjoyed the nice weather and our lunch. Looking forward to going back!

Owner was very nice, but overall did not enjoy the wines, and I am not too picky. Some were OK, a couple were almost undrinkable.

Beautiful grounds. Had a wine tasting by the owner, and had a wonderful chat. The wines are unique. Highly recommend.

Every time I see signs for this winery, I want to stop and visit. Well, finally was able to do so yesterday. From the road the winery/red barn type building looks so cute. As soon as you pull into the driveway, you see a complete and utter mess! There was trash everywhere, chairs and tables rusted and broken, wooden front door is filthy and rotted and wait there's more! I did open the door and go inside (my adult daughter wanted to leave). Upon entering, you see another complete and utter mess with a crazy chime/alarm that sounded like a terrified bird! A man came into the room from a back room and asked if he could help us and apoligized for the "Disarry". I asked if the winery was open and if they were serving tastings (I think I was in denial that this place was so bad. My daughter just wanted to leave). He said that they were open and serving. I then thought quickly..."How old and bad is the wine he would serve and I would be paying to taste?". I quickly said, "Well, no worries, we will come back when you are a little more organized". To that, he quickly turned around and left without one word!!! RUDE!!! Never in my 15 years of visiting wineries have I stumbled across something like this. Fridays Creek Winery deserves 0 stars.

Nice little hangout. 15 acres of vines, mostly hybrids, North American grapes, and grapes that grow well nearly anywhere (like Cab Franc). They had an upstairs area for events, although I stuck with the tasting bar. What I tried: Blackfin (white blend): Strong peach notes. Chardonnel: Lots of minerals; my favorite of the lineup. Barberra: Notes of pepper & vanilla. Cab Franc: Peppery, tobacco.

Great find! The owner was super friendly and the wine was delicious. I went there with my husband; our favorites were: Chambourcin, Concord, Syrah, and White Patio. Went there again, love the wines.

Their wine selections were fantastic! We went during a Jack & Jills of Southern MD Wine tour & purchased 2 - 3 bottles from here. Their whites are delicious! We will likely go back ourselves just to try their specialty whites. The service was nice & for all the people they had they checked us out pretty fast (think a coach bus full of adults)!

Nothing has changed about Fridays Creek since shawn g. FTR'ed them back in 2009, except there's now a $5 tasting fee, and you can only select six of their 14 wines for sampling. When the six of us expressed our shock at 1) not being able to sample all the wines; and 2) having to pick six on our own, the girl working the counter said we could try all 14 for $10, which we opted to do. Wish we'd just stuck with six. I couldn't describe the wines better than shawn g. did, so I'm gonna plagiarize in the hopes that he subscribes to the old adage "Imitation is the highest form of flattery": Fridays Creeks wines are "too fruit forward, sweet, and acidic." Done and done. *Every* wine we tasted was slightly sweet, semi-sweet, or really sweet. The '08 Traminette smelled a bit like OFF and tasted like eating flowers. The Patio White tasted like grape juice, and the '08 Vidal Blanc like tropical punch. Even the '08 Merlot, '08 Syrah, '08 Old Vine Zinfandel, and '08 Cabernet Sauvignon were sweet and thin, lacking any of the robustness one typically expects from those varietals. I did like the '09 Rubilee, made from a GR 7 Hybrid grape out of Cornell University, a drier '08 Chambourcin, and -- surprisingly -- the Plum wine, since it was more tart than sweet. And so many of the wines are made from juices imported from New York and California...it feels kind of like cheating. The tasting room itself is nice, with an old, barn-like feel true to its original purpose. But my favorite part about the whole tasting experience was browsing the art in the upstairs loft, with pieces created by area artists. Watercolors of ripe tomatoes or rusted-out tractors, oil paintings of ducks or lily pads, black-and-white photo triptychs of farm scenes, colorful weavings, ceramic owls, stone jewelry. A great idea for wineries and local artists to partner up. Instead of purchasing any wines, we bought a ceramic tile featuring a small duck. Win!

Really beautiful winery and friendly staff. The barn is a really great area to have an event in and staff is very helpful. Hidden gem.

I'm no wine connoisseur but bottles are reasonably priced and their outdoor space is relaxing. A nice surprise in the middle of southern MD. I was out here for an event, and I can't see myself rushing to get back. That's only because I'm not huge on wine. If you're into wine, and challenging your pallet, drive about an hour outside of D.C. and check this locally owned winery.

What a find off the beaten path! This was a cool little place and at first was like um I don't know If they know wines. We came on a Friday during the off season so we where the only two in the whole place. So we get helped out by one of the owners son and he was extremely helpful. So on to the wines, first off it was nice that they acutely have estate wine. That's a plus considering people don't know that you can import grapes and juice, which means as long as it's made in the state boom Maryland wine. Estate is where they grow their own grapes, that is how you can taste the land. We tried all of the estate wines and for the most part these where done good. I was impressed with the knowledge that our host had, he knew the special codes of what grapes they grew, cool! The best part was he quality checked all the wine before he poured ours, what can I say that is an awesome way to insure you get to taste the wine right and not some old oxidized bottle of juice. We will coming back in The spring and hopefully enjoy some warmer weather because they have some cool stuff bottled for the spring.

It's spring and we were in the mood for lighter (sweeter) tasting. Not real heavy oak or tannins in most, very relaxed smooth tasting. We enjoyed the second level art as well. This will be a real gem once they get some years behind them.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE AT THE MARYLAND WINE FESTIVAL! Didn't even get to sample the wine (and I live so close) because the volunteer wouldn't serve me, for some reason. I stood in front of her and waited patiently for her to tell me she was ready, when she said hello (I didn't get a hello) to the person who walked up, literally next to me, and asked them what they wanted. WOW!

While they do get a tip of the hat for offering free tastings of their 18 wines, and the venue is well done, the wines we tasted were too fruit forward, sweet, and acidic. The Patio White (one of their best sellers, was far too sweet, reminding me more of a muscat or a strong gewurztraminer. The Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Barbera, and Old Vine Zinfandel all needed more time to develop, and a few tasted like the bottles had been open for over a week. They have only been open three years, so hopefully in time their process will have settled in and the wines will take on a deeper more subtle flavor and develop a bit more body as well. Keep an eye on the time, since the winery closes at 5:00, but they stop giving the full tasting at 4:30pm.

We visited this winery today and I have to say our visit was very pleasantly surprising! The tour was incredibly through, tons of information. This is about 99% family run and owned winery, which we thought was great. The wine, while not our favorite in MD, is probably in the top 3 or so. We only tried red wines ($5 for about 6 wines) and they were all pretty good. We ended up purchasing the American Barbara and a Blackberry fruit wine (which we didn't try, but were intrigued). The bottle prices were really quite reasonable, given that you were purchasing at the winery. We expected them to be higher. The tasting was so full of information, it was amazing and super fun. We enjoyed a glass outside on the patio with our sandwiches. Totally worth the visit. Quite a beautiful garden around, lots of butterflies!

Vidal Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon = yum!! I enjoy drier wines. I think the winemaker, Rick, does a great job with these! They have many other varieties (as well as delicious mixes to make wine margaritas or peach sangrias, e.g.). Visit them at North Beach, MD Friday Farmers' Market, if you'd like a gratis sample. Way to go!

Absolutely terrible experience with the volunteers at Kegs and Corks...Rich (the owner of Fridays Creek) did nothing to help the situation. Refused to serve us and were reported to corporate for the event. Terrible, never support them!! Embarrassing display of customer service

I didn't enjoy this wine at all. I had a really hard time with it. I am used to NOVA wines and the quality is far better but I'm sure for locals it's a nice hang out. Maybe the wine was old because the tasting room was empty but although my experience was good with the friendly owner, the wine was almost vinegary.

Wine was the best I've found, the people working there were extremely friendly, and you get to pick which wines you want to taste. Highly recommended!

I would mostly agree with the reviews already written. So how is it then I gave them 4 stars? The Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon were my favorite of their genre to date (note: I love a heavy smoke flavor). There is a point to be made that I have only been there once and could possibly have gotten the magical bottle but both of those were magnificent. As for the rest of the wines, read the other reviews, they are dead on. The atmosphere definitely did have a nice feel to to it, very relaxing and cozy environment.

Have to give them the "hard-heart" award. Our church was contacting Maryland Wineries and Vineyards to ask for a bottle or two donation for a fund raiser event. They were the only one to turn us down because they felt that 45 minutes away was outside of their area of influence. We had wineries and vineyards from the eastern shore, western maryland and northern maryland (all farther away) that were willing to chip a bottle or two for us.

This is a great place to relax and taste good wines! They have 19 wines with a complementary tasting. As soon as you walk in it is just a very welcoming building with a beautiful scene. The young lady behind the counter was very knowledgeable and personable as well. And as for the man who wrote his review about the time...if you call ahead of time and give them a heads up that you are running close to their closing time they stay open for you! I couldn't say enough good things about this winery!!! I wish I was more local to keep coming!!
