It was perfectly warm and cozy. The music was not too loud or offensive. The food is AMAZING! I LOVE THE COOKS! The waitresses are lovely, they're friendly and accommodating and patient. They work so hard for us and I appreciate them. I also believe the cooks need more credit because they do an amazing job making delicious food for us. Also, the managers deserve credit for running a smooth flowing establishment and giving everyone a nice experience. THANK YOU EVERYONE AT FRIENDLY 'S! Busiest Friendly's I've been to in at least 15 years, but for good reason. There was a bit of a wait because of this but not unreasonable. The service was excellent. The wait staff seemed to always be moving and attentive. The food came out pretty quickly and was well plated and cooked. Drink refills were quickly provided as well. All the hallmarks of a well run kitchen. The dining room was clean and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. If all Friendly's were run like this, they would be thriving. If you are in the mood for a quick meal and ice cream and tired of fast food, this is a good place to go.

Jessie our server was absolutely delightful!! she was very accommodating made fresh coffee And when we asked for a hamburger without a bun and in a bowl with the lettuce and tomato and to add some mashed potatoes, it came out perfect You also may want to try the beef barley soup! They had a picture that’s kind of funny. I think you should take it back and get me a local cause. I was still trying to figure out if I like it or not. Oh, that was nice.

Food was reasonably good. My first time in a Friendly’s in decades. The server Kimete did an excellent job.

I was visiting and haven’t been to a friendly’s in over 20 years. It was my favorite place as a kid and being there made me so happy again. Coffee Fribble - as good as it always was! Turkey club super melt - still my favorite sandwich!

This is my local Friendly's restaurant. I drive from Boston just to eat here because it is a classic reminder of the restaurant from my childhood. I've brought friends and family here to eat. The kids love it. Staff is attentive and the food was great. Would dine here again!

Ordered ice cream at the counter, servers were too busy flirting with each other. Finally took our order, got it wrong, then sat down at a booth. Was told the both was for dine in customers only. Sorry, hope you didn't lose any business while we sat in your booth. It was 10:00 at night , thet close at 11. Oh wait, no one came in while we were there. They were closing in an hour with only 6 tables dining. The waitress bitched at us because we sat down to eat. The cleaner was sweeping while we were in line to be served then mopped with no wet floor signs. Servers didn't wear hair nets. Pretty rude service there.

Came after a long soccer game but for some reason the wait took even longer it took at least seven minutes for them to come over here and then wait on us. We were waiting outside the wait right here area and it took at least three minutes for that as you know from my previous ratings I'm a very time conscious person so of course I timed that for the drinks it took less than six minutes so that was good. it took two minutes matter of fact, two minutes and 37 seconds so that wasn't that bad but when I tasted my drink, I thought it was Coca-Cola and I ordered Sprite. Everybody else at the table complained just as much as me cherry Coke it isn't cherry. What is this flavor Sprite not Sprite this lemonade did you put citrus in it actually that's not the point sugar is all that's in lemonade but I'm still waiting for my food right now so I will have to update you when they come back. It is taking them forever though and nobody is here Right now, they have been prioritizing cleaning all the other tables that no one is gonna set up because no one comes to this Friendly's, which is just stupid because obviously you're not gonna get customers if you clean tables I gave them 15 minutes to deliver my food for five people most of them children so the orders were small. There's basically nobody in this restaurant and you know how long it took 19 minutes and 24 seconds I am mad this is disgraceful my fries taste like chemicals and my friend found a fry in her burger My very small child he's nine but he weighs as much as a six-year-old could finish this grilled cheese in about seven seconds that's how small it was. He needs no more nutrients right now. He is on a bulk. according to this review checklist thing, I have to talk about the ambience in here. It's pretty OK but all I can see right now is a boy looking at another boy is a painting eating ice cream not very interesting but it does feel like I'm back in the 1900s you know I mean it's OK. I will update if necessary, but I'm going to end my order now.

Before I start, let me say that I rate places based on their peers. A McDonalds that was great will still get five stars over a poor experience. Everyone should know Friendly's isn't a high end steak house in Boston. But dang, if this place doesn't get just about everything right in one of the last standing Friendleez this side of Worcester. We all grew up going here, right? Sometimes we crave that nostalgia of our youth and attempt to pass it along to our children. I WANT Friendlys around long after I'm gone and my kids are grandparents themselves. Will it happen? Probably not. But at least we get to experience it in the here and now. We entered towards the hostess stand next to the to-go ice cream area. Once quickly greeted, a clean and inviting booth led us to the back of the restaurant. It was maybe half full on a weeknight, and that's fine too. The place overall is very well kept, with some really fun ice cream artwork around. What I love the most about Friendleez is the straightforward menu. You know what you are going to get. A greasy sandwich with fries, maybe a salad if you're on a diet. It's as Americana as it comes. I went with the Philly cheesesteak melt and it was exactly what I was expecting. Not the highest quality beef ever but the well cooked vegetables along side it complimented the perfectly grilled bread. The fries were also perfectly crispy, albeit a bit under seasoned. The kids menu is just awesome because they not only get a meal, but a drink and dessert thrown in alongside everything. Now, the only thing I don't like about Friendleez in general is what they do to the bill for the anticipated tip. They "deduct" the free dessert from the bill so -$5.99 comes off, but the calculated tip is still including that $5.99. I find the practice very odd and someone with a keen eye for math will pick it up right away, many others will miss it. You could be tipping 25% (also calculated post tax). Our server was spectacular, attentive, and jovial. She certainly earned a good tip, don't get me wrong.....but like why do you have to do that? While it's sad a massive amount of the locations have closed over the years, it's obvious why this one remains open and thriving. They are doing a ton of things right and we can still hold out that tiny sliver of hope that our grandkid's will get to also experience the throwback style sit down restaurant some day.

When it comes to fast food/chain restaurants, people tend to look down and took bad about them. I had an amazing experience at this friendly today. The service was quick and staff were very helpful and friendly. The food tasted great, my table was very clean and stocked up. The restaurant was also clean, same with the bathrooms. I only had good things to say about this place. Definitely will come back.

Great Friendly's in Peabody. Wonderful staff, great ice cream. Munchie mania is awesome. Waffle fries with cheese sauce, mini mozzarella sticks, and cheese quesadilla were fantastic. Resses pieces sundae was delightful. Clean and nice restaurant.

Have gotten some of the best food here in the last few months and can't rave enough. Y'all rock! Service is always fast and easy! Me and my family absolutely love Friendly's!

Every time I order online for pick up, my food is ready on time and the employees are super nice. I will continue to use Friendly's as my go to when I need to buy lunch on my break!

Service was poor, baby high chair were super dirty, there was a hair in my babies cheddar soup. Food was horrible in general didn't like it at all.

We had a very pleasant experience here yesterday. I must admit I was a bit nervous since I haven't been to a Friendly's in a long time. Our server Veronica was super cool and friendly, she made sure we were well taken care of and even made some food suggestions for the next time we come back! We tried a few of the new menu items. I'm not lying when I say this but Friendly's has the best cheese bites !!! They're like mini mozzarella sticks! I also ordered the new chicken parm sandwich, it was cheesey , crunchy , hot n fresh. Of course we saved room for ice cream which was indeed the perfect happy ending.

Friendly's is a small chain restaurant with most of it's restaurants in Massachusetts. It is the most kid friendly place to go. I don't know any other restaurant that is more exciting for kids. The food is a diner food and not as good as most independently owned places but the kids friendly ambience and ice cream are the main reasons to go here.

Always exactly what we are looking for. It is a reasonably priced, family friendly lunch, dinner and of course dessert restaurant. Peanut butter cup sundae yum!

I've never had a bad experience here. It's a great Friendly's that has been around forever and needs to stay! Reasonable prices and you can't beat the sundaes!! Would love to see them bring back the table coloring pages they used to have for kids!

I got 2 sundaes from this location and 1 sundae had a staple in it!! A STAPLE!!!!!! My boyfriend got a spoonful and almost swallowed it. I put a picture up to prove it as well. I called the store and the manager did not apologize or care at all and was very rude the whole time. Nothing was done for me. That's "friendly's" for you

The best thing about our lunch yesterday was the sweet, accommodating waitress.she, I might add, was the only waitress. I frankly was appalled at the bill. $50 for a grilled cheese and a tiny Cole slaw, and a turkey sandwich. Two coffee milkshakes. We could have had a much better lunch somewhere else, but wanted to give Friendlys a chance. I remember enjoying many lunches in Sturbridge years ago, good food, good prices .no wonder Friendlys is losing business. Good staffing is there. Good pricing is not. Lower prices, more satisfied customers.

A blast from the past for those of us who don't live in New England. Use to be in the Middle of Midwest but loonngg goonnee. I started to eat there in 1973 in Ohio and found them in Michigan when I moved there in 1988. My college buddy and I would drive 20 miles one way just for the ice cream. Almost got the hot dog buns for old times sake, but since I never had a lobster roll and it was on the menu I wanted to try it. EBS raved about lobster rolls, but I don't think he got them here. Lobster roll must be something you need to eat more to learn how good it taste. Glad I tried it, but the hot dog my sister got looked better to this Midwesterner. The kids had never eaten here and my sister grew up with these like I did. I think the kids will make her bring them back just for the kid's meal ending of do it yourself sundaes. All I know is that the ice cream tasted as good as I remembered. With the same good service and free refills on the drinks, Coke products. I still wonder why they are not national chain any more. Great food and ice cream was once a winner and maybe if us Midwesterners make a fuss, they will again grace our area.

Friendly's has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. As a Waltham resident, I was blessed to have a Friendly's restaurant in my home town. Then, the unthinkable happened. The Friendly's in Lexington closed down and was repurposed into a Starbucks. One-by-one, we were losing Friendly's restaurants. I watched them drop like flies. Eventually, my nightmare scenario was realized as the Waltham Friendly's was finally shut down for good. All of a sudden, I realized that the closest Friendly's to where I lived was quite a long distance away. But so beloved is the food, the ice cream, and the ambiance there, that yes, I'm willing to travel to 250 Andover Street in Peabody for my Friendly's fix. It's eerily similar to the Waltham setup, which is actually really nice as I tend to get nostalgic to the point of melancholy upon remembering all of the good times I used to have in the Waltham Friendly's. So, with all of that being said, here was a summary of my most recent experience in the Peabody Friendly's. 1 - It's always a painfully long wait at that Friendly's podium that they set up with the seating chart. And it's not like I can blame the staff.... Because there are so few of them left. Everyone's busy. 2 - Although they burnt my "medium" cheeseburger to something not even dental records could identify (...assuming burgers came with teeth), Lori (our waitress) took one look at it and offered to have a new burger prepared. I never like to send back food, but trust me, I was grateful to do so on this occasion. She then told me that they lost a cook who just up and quit which was causing some culinary difficulties out in the back. 3 - When the new burger came out, it was PERFECT; as were the fries that she replenished free of charge. This was, overall, a great dining experience. Some suggestions I'd make... and I do so delicately because I'm balancing my need to provide constructive criticism with not wanting to lose one of the few viable Friendly's restaurants in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts: A - Advertise that you're hiring. B - Offer to pay a livable wage, then actually PAY it. C - Make sure your existing and valued employees are being paid as well. D - While we're talking money, give Lori a raise. Seriously, she was beyond wonderful with an inexplicably cheery disposition, even as she was gettin' slammed during the lunch rush. I gave her a healthy tip, of course, but she needs to be taken care of. She's someone who makes coming to this particular Friendly's a thoroughly enjoyable experience. E - Try to hire more people. You need more waitstaff, cooks, and at minimum, someone who can greet new patrons. Yes, we watched prospective patrons walk out because nobody was even making eye contact with them. F - Please keep this place open. I love it and I'd hate to see it go by the wayside like so many other Friendly's restaurants have done beforehand.

I ate the honey BBQ burger and it was soooo good, and finished my meal with a medium sundae and it was the perfect ending to a filling meal. Sometimes you just need Friendlys

The general manager was rude and unprofessional to a friend of mine who frequents the establishment with her autistic son!! He would not even give her his name!! No wonder why so many Friendly's have shut down!! Because they have managers like him working for them!!!

I love Friendly's and they don't have any down south where I live now so I try to go anytime I'm up north. I've never been to this location but I was very happy with it. The server had about 9 tables so, between the poor reviews and having no other servers on, I was expecting the worst. But Melissa was fast, attentive, and friendly and my food was as good as always. I was very happy with this end to my trip :)

Reese's peanut butter cup sundae always THE BEST! My family and I drive 30 minutes a few times a month because their ice cream is sooo good!

Another great Friendly's experience. This time we just got the dessert. The waitress was very friendly and was still learning how to make a soda. So another person made them, and I am sure ours got super star treatment because she was showing the new person how it's done. She was also very friendly. Yeah made for a great experience. The sodas needless to say at this point were fantastic!

We just left friendly's restaurant in Danvers we waited for 5 minutes as we watched the waitress totally ignore us. There was only three people in the dining room sitting. In three people in the kitchen just talking and ignoring us as customers. And you figure the ice cream guy would tell somebody but he was too busy itching his balls. We left

We still go to Friendly's on a regular basis but ever since they got rid of the hostess position, you might find yourself waiting a while to be seated...usually when the restaurant is really busy. They now have the waitresses seat you but they are often too occupied waiting on tables. Since this is the last Friendly's on the Northshore, the place gets really crowded for dinner on the weekends. Sometimes the manager comes out to seat people. Other times, he is cooking due to staff shortages in the kitchen. Sadly, a few of our favorite waitresses have moved on to other jobs but the ones that remain still do a great job taking care of us.

When me and my friend walked in last night, we were met with a nasty manager who gave us attitude when we asked for a table. He set the mood, but as soon as Kristen came over she was such a bright little light. She was sweet, funny, and knows how to make customers feel important. She apologized for our greeting and gave us the best service I could ask for. She even gave us stickers at the end. If I ran this place, I'd put her in charge and put that grumpy GM at the fry station. I'll be going back to see Kristen and recommending her service to my friends.

We always had good experiences in the past, however today... that was not the case. We go every year for my friends birthday and they ALWAYS sing happy birthday but today they did not. They said that they and I quote,"sorry we do not offer singing or candles" and then proceeded to sing to the table next to us. My friend and I were so hurt because this has been a tradition for 50 years now. Friendlys you really did us dirty and I would like a refund NOW!!!

Hopefully they can not screw up ice cream. Burger over done fries under cooked. Apparently I need to ask for the fries to be crisp. Who would have thought. Sure it's been years since I've been to a Friendly's but this experience has crushed my childhood memories and fond thoughts of this place. Drive by if your nearby.

Horrible service. Waited 15 minutes to be seated and not one person came to seat us. I was there with my kids looking for a little lunch and ice cream after but now one person even greeted us or looked our way to seat us. There were two ladies just standing there talking behind the counter but didn't seem to care we was just standing waiting to be seated. Definitely not worth going to.

We had a great experience. Our waitress was sweet and very friendly. She made every like it should be when you eat out. Our food was good and ice cream was great! I love their sundae

I went to Friendly's at 9:15pm on a Saturday night for ice cream. The restaurant was only mildly busy, and there were 3 people working behind the ice cream counter. It took 5 minutes for the girl to stop complaining about the volume of online orders coming through (she was saying "can we somehow shut off the online orders? This is ridiculous!"). She took the order of the couple in front of us and then our order. Then we waited, 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes. We watched a bunch of door dash drivers come in to grab orders, and a few who also had to wait because the orders weren't done yet. The whole time, I'm watching and listening to this girl behind the counter complain. A 4th man eventually joined and gave them some direction about which two would do online orders and which two would do store orders. When we finally got our order (a friendZ and a sundae), the couple who ordered before us still didn't get their milkshake! What a disaster, and honestly the girl's attitude is what really led me to write the review. I get that this ja friendlys, but it was so unprofessional and only brought the vibe down.

In case you are wondering why Friendly's is continuing to sink it's because they have terrible customer service. I come in on a Friday night at 7, the restaurant is packed. And I am told they are closing and not seating ship either because the GM is leaving. Their hours of operation list until 11PM. Friendly's was a staple of my childhood that I wanted to take my son to but it's hard to even stomach coming back when they have no customer service standards.

I ordered the chicken and waffles which was advertised as a Belgian waffle and 5 chicken tenders. Half a waffle and 3 tenders were delivered to me (see the photo). I was told by the manager of the restaurant that the menu is wrong and that this is the amount they typically give. This is not advertised as a kids meal, by the way! The two pieces of waffle are rock hard and not edible at all. I did try a bite and the taste is very off, like a freezer taste. This is totally unacceptable. Stay away from this restaurant.

Idk about other locations but this one on 114 is a sad excuse for a restaurant. Background: I came here a year and a half ago with 2 friends and our collective 4 kids. Service was so slow, food was so slow - it took min 20 mins (MIN being the operative word) for drinks, food, ice cream, ANYTHING to get to our table. After our server disappeared for an ungodly amount of time, we asked someone for a manager. We waited half an hour for a manager to show up. In that time, our server still was MIA. Tbh, we ended up walking out, because after several hours of hell, and staff just...not being present, our kids were done with the shit and we had to go. I kept my bad review to myself until now, since we did walk out. Now to today. My friend (one of the same ones from last time) was craving buffalo tenders from Friendlys, so we figured sure why not give them another try, guarantee it's all new staff by now anyways, maybe it's improved. Noooope. From the moment we got there it was obvious this was not going to go well. No one even acknowledged us for a good 5 mins. When we finally got sat, our server, Jen, did come over promptly. She's the reason I'm putting 2 stars instead of 1. Give that girl a promotion, guys. She took good care of us despite carrying the restaurant on her back. She was hosting along with serving 6 tables, while another girl just diagonal from us complained that she didn't sign up for this, blah blah, I'm not taking anymore tables, etc. Anyways, our food took forever, because the kitchen was a disaster. We were sitting right next to the entrance, I could hear servers getting frustrated, saying things such as "can I at least have *insert kids meal here* so the kid can eat? The food is all frozen and pre bagged anyways, especially the kids stuff, so I'm not sure why it took ages for food to come out. Honestly the whole situation was just a disaster. Seems like management can't staff properly, and servers don't feel like doing their jobs. 4 servers on a Friday night with that many tables is not enough anyways. So yeah. 2 stars insteas of 1 cuz Jen saved the day. Despite being swamped, she was attentive and even refilled my friend's drink without her asking. She had no attitude and you couldn't even really tell she was flustered thru it all. If you decide to go here, ask for Jen. But remember she has no control over the kitchen being slow.

If I could give one less star than this I would. The service is absolutely disgusting. Me and my family went in to do pick up and the man working behind the counter raised his voice at us and refused to give us plastic knives for our to go order. Not to mention they threw our food back and fourth across the counter after forgetting to give us one of our items. I am BEYOND disgusted with the unprofessional service. Another woman working there apologized and said that he was cranky today and is cranky often. Please avoid this place at all costs. UPDATE: I just called to speak with DAN and he was screaming at me over the phone clearly this man should be fired .. not to mention one of the women behind the counter was touching everyone's food without gloves. Ummm we are in a pandemic

Place was less than 1/3rd capacity so figured a quick in and out with the kids. 15 minutes to get seated, table was filthy, food took forever and was horribly cooked, even managed to get order wrong. Felt bad for our young waitress. I've had great experiences at other Friendly's. So I'm guessing the abysmal service is specific to this location.

Food brings back memories. Very glad they have not changed their classic recipes, although simple. Ordered Chicken Quesadilla with fries. Haven't been here in probably 10 years and it tastes just the same it always did when I was a kid. Got a custom ice cream with chocolate ice cream, marshmellow sauce, oreos, cookie dough bites, whipped cream, rainbow sprinkles, and a cherry YUM. The server was very nice, his name was Lamar. He was very friendly and witty, and able to keep a conversation with my friends and I while being funny, professional and friendly. He gets 5 stars. The reason this establishment gets 3 stars although I was happy with my visit is that although it is good, I don't think it is an above average establishment, other than the nostalgia.

I ordered food for my family and they forgot my order. It is always something wrong lately. Last time my drinks were in a paper bag and they leaked all over my food! Which half had to be thrown away! I'm done ordering from there. Be wise and go somewhere else!
