We were driving through the area and the reviews seemed promising so we stopped for dinner last night. I would definitely suggest you stop if you're in the area. The view out of the side window is beautiful, the background music is just loud enough to keep conversations private but not distracting and the food is wonderful. I had roast beef with mashed potatoes and pickled beets while Stephen had BBQ with baked apples and corn. We both left very full and the staff were all very kind. It's very clean.

This is the one I always have at this place. I really like this place and food. Restaurant is very clean and servers are kind too. Hamburger steak is really good too. But especially, the pancakes are outstanding!! I don’t know why but the pancakes here is so different somehow. It is a little chewy yet soft. Not too sweet it is just perfect. I always eat small portion but every-time I have pancakes here I always over eat.

Friends and Family is the perfect name for this local restaurant. Food as delicious and consistent as Grandmother's and service as kind and personal, too! Such a pleasant, clean, and welcoming atmosphere you will linger. Old fashioned candies and other goodies will entice you to take something home for later. Our family faves from the menu include the pinto beans, onion rings, hotdogs, cheeseburgers, tender loin, french fries, BLT, Grilled Chicken, and broccoli. Everything we have tried is delicious and the wait staff is without exception friendly, helpful, and attentive. We love it!

Update: I appreciate the thoughtful written response to my experience. Because of that, I have changed my rating from a 1 to a 4. It really does show that you take reviews seriously. Thanks! I hope that our visit was a fluke, but everything I had was inedible yesterday. I got the Applewood Chicken special, and it was about 1/4” thick piece of chicken the size of my palm. I didn’t mind that it was tiny, except the texture of the meat was like biting into undercooked chicken. I cut it into 1/2” squares and the waitress offered to cook it more. When it came back, it was cooked more, but the texture only changed slightly and still was not edible. (By the way, I was super hungry and am NOT a picky eater. Besides, my 88 year old mother really wanted to eat there on her visit, and I so badly just wanted to eat it). The broccoli was chewy and I could not eat the stalks at all. And my roll was so stale and dry that I couldn’t eat that either. I seldom write a bad review. I know any place can have a bad day. The waitress asked if it was better, and I let her know it still wasn’t edible. I left hungry, was not offered anything that I could eat in replacement, and just paid the bill since I didn’t want my Mom to feel bad about the experience.

So very happy to finally get back to Giles and met up with family for meal. Sat outside and took it all in ❤️🍴

Google
Excellent food, service, and location. Shaded outside tables are great. Unfortunately, they sell candy snuff, cigarettes, and cigars. These don't contain tobacco, but why should they make addictive products attractive to children when we should be discouraging their use? We love their breakfast. Thus, I will change my review to 5-stars if they stop selling candy that look like drugs that can cause cancer.

Google
Absolutely delicious breakfast! The waitresses were friendly and sweet. Everything was perfect! I ordered the chipped beef & gravy and my husband had the country ham and eggs. Highly recommend stopping in definitely worth the trip!

Yelp
This is a diamond hidden in the ruff. It's a perfect small town place to have a wonderful meal and experience. The staff is a great home town, home grown group of people. The food will not disappoint, neither will the atmosphere.

Yelp
This place burned down a couple years ago and recently opened back up. We remember the food, service, and atmosphere was great. Recently we ate lunch and discovered the food is not the same. Additionally, the new layout is unwelcoming, loud, and many people surround you and watch you eat. It's uncomfortable and lost it's cozy atmosphere. The architect designed a fish bowl and the new kitchen lost its flavor. Combined with the new high prices, this was a disappointing expirence.

Yelp
First off, the mac and cheese has absolutely no goddamn cheese and the chicken was stiff, it took 40+ minutes to get this shit food and the only thing good they gave me were the fries. FUCK THIS PLACE.... P.S the Pucker Powder Candy Art is over priced and taste like butt cheeks, save your money and do not come here.

Yelp
Liver combo- $7.99. Skip it. 1 medium piece of liver. It should be called mashed potato combo. I had more mashed potatoes and dry gravy than liver. Liver so tough it had to be cut with a knife. Pickled beets turned out spicy pickled beets, not good and not advertised as spicy. Cornbread burnt on the bottom. Glass of soda pop $2.29. Thank goodness for free refills. Pancake combo was ok.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious breakfast food for a good price. The food came out quick and everything was well made. The staff are very friendly and accommodating which is perfect for a breakfast meal. The decor was southern and homey perfect for the mountains. 10/10 recommend for breakfast

Yelp
Staff is friendly and they have a cute gift shop but the food is less than desirable. I ordered the Hungry Farmer breakfast and the bacon was burnt, eggs and home fries had no seasoning and the gravy was thick like paste and had no flavor. Save your time and money and cook your own breakfast. This is not the first time I've had less than desirable food but it'll be the last. I tried to give them a chance but it wasn't worth it which is a shame because I'm a local and the staff really is sweet.

Yelp
Nice little local restaurant with a comfort food menu, good service. We went for breakfast , food came out fast and everything was pretty good. The only thing I was a fan of was the sausage gravy. Prices were very reasonable.

Yelp
One kid loved mozzarella sticks and fried shrimp (butterfly), sweet tea great!, amazing sides varied, great pies!

Yelp
We were there for dinner on 9/18/19, the food was inedible. I had fried cod the coating was so hard you needed a hack saw to get through it and then the fish was so hard you could not eat it. The corn came right out of the can so seasoning whatsoever. MY spouse had meatloaf that was reheated in a microwave it has crust on it the you could not eat. The service was terrible. There were two empty tables that had dirty dishes on them. The place was not busy. The cashier was very unfriendly like she was doing us a favor taking our money. WE WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN. DOG FOOD WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER,

Yelp
Substantial and juicy patty on the "Old Charlie" burger. Tomato and cucumber side salad, which is so easy to do absolutely fresh and well, instead included pale beefsteak tomato middles and a corn syrupy vinaigrette. Interesting panoramic view of Walmart plaza and mountain ridge beyond. Large dining space that would accommodate groups well. Almost dead at 2PM on a weekday. Main entrance closed off with caution tape. Must use side entrance, where one is greeted with spare wheelchair storage. Food 4 + ambiance 4 + value 3 + service 6 = overall 4.0 /10 (forgettable)

Yelp
Wonderful service, cute little gift shop, home fries need some seasoning but fast seating and overall a friendly and Home-y atmosphere.

Yelp
We had a good wholesome breakfast here during our two days stay in the area. The staff was attentive, polite, and accommodating. Our breakfast and coffee were simple, delicious, and arrived promptly. We would definitely recommend this diner to anyone in the area.

Yelp
I'm a local. This place has a cute gift shop and the staff is friendly but there is nothing special about the food and the service is slow. If you want country home style food, it's a food place. Just don't expect anything amazing.

Karen B.

Yelp
Great food and friendly fast service always eat here when going down river over fourth

Yelp
Eh..it was ok. Nothing special. Big room to eat. Everyone will hear your conversation. Food was ok..needed more seasoning. Portion sizes were good. Service was ok, nothing great.

Brad H.

Yelp
Very nice and homey place. I loved all the home town banter. Food was great and reasonable. Brittany our server was fun to talk to and was good at helping us. I will return to here when we are in the area. Too bad we aren't closer. We are in Ohio now

Karen T.

Yelp
We got into town late and this seemed to be the only place to eat, except getting groceries at Wal-mart. The salad was ok, but I think the chicken that came with it may have had MSG because I got a headache.

Yelp
A pleasant little local restaurant in the very tiny town of Pearisburg, Virginia. There is nothing remotely fancy or foodist about this place-just plain down-home country cooking. I had a very satisfying Country Ham breakfast, with good-sized portions. It'll never earn a Michelin star but I for one love eating at little out-of-the-way places like this!
