Google
The most wonderful online shopping experience. The team went above and beyond and I am so so happy with my order and their help in asking my friend to be my bridesmaid. Can’t recommend enough. She loved her gift and the packaging was so cute. Thank you Friends NYC! Will be back for more.

Google
This was my first time visiting the shop, and I was very pleasantly surprised by the huge selection, and very fair prices! For anyone visiting, this would be a great place to get New York specific gifts! Their selection of vintage clothes is very well curated and all very clean! I would highly recommend this shop to locals and tourists alike!

Google
This has to be one of my favorite stores EVER. shopping here is an absolute pleasure each time. Their inventory from home decor to vintage clothing is unique and fabulous, to say the least. Their staff has to be one of the best parts of the whole shopping experience. they are so fun, friendly, caring and attentive. Special shout out to Emma and Eddie who have been especially wonderful to me!! 100000/10 would recommend to a friend - and even my worst enemy bc this goodness should not be gatekept from anyone!!!! Xoxo

Bought items off the website, when I found out I had to pay $44 for customs I immediately reached out to the company stating I wish to not take these items as the shipping costed more than the actual items I bought! I was then advised to tell UPS I did not want the package, unfortunately the package was delivered straight to my door and left there without my knowledge not collecting the duties to which I was going to deny the package. I reached out to UPS and was told I needed to get a return slip for them to take the package back. That’s when I sent an email to Friends NYC requesting a return slip to which they said they’d cover the duties of the items and to keep the package. I then received a letter again from UPS that the customs were not covered. Mind you this all happened in January, once I received the second letter from UPS I again reached out to friends NYC stating they did not follow thru with the previous email of paying for my duties. I sent 2-3 emails which I never received a single response from. It’s now May 15th I’ve just gotten home, checked my mail and the duties have now gone to collections. Don’t buy from this company if you’re from Canada!!! Fair warning, my credit has now been screwed over and I’m having to pay for something I never even wanted to take in the first place due to the crazy duties rate. Thanks a lot. I have attached PROOF that Friends NYC stated to keep the package and it would be charged to them.

Watch out! Shady return policies! I'm so bummed! I tried to make a purchase and the cashier accidentally rang up a couple discounted items at full price... when she told me I had to call a phone number... it sounded fishy! That's not retail policy At ALL for NY ! She got the manager on duty which was a young person with light color eyes and bleached dreadlocks and he was instantly annoyed and passive aggressive at my existence and inquiry and fully refunded my purchase without even knowing the full situation bc ended up having to inform him of that. I told him I was bummed at the whole experience bc I've been shopping here since they opened and for the level of passive aggression, I got the total heeby jeebies! All he had to do was offer a refund of the discounted merchandise amount... not reject my entire purchase! Which HELLO! Why are your cashiers telling people they have to call a phone number to rectify the store's error? Why wasn't a refund of the inaccurate price an offer in the first place? The guy offered me to keep the item I wanted to purchase for free, but honestly... for that level of passive aggression from being an inconvenienced customer from the jump... all of the joints I would have rolled and smoked from that tin would have had his icky poo bad juju all over them... no thanks! I'll only start shopping here again when this human no longer is in management bc yikes. Such bad juju... not a friend to a brooklyn (well, queens ny living in bushwich the past 16 years) native at all! Buyers beware! In response to the owners response... from a customer's standpoint, I feel that a sincere apology and correction from the beginning would have been much more valued and appreciated versus trying to giving me attitude and attemlting to give me a free $16 joint tin. My respect as a human is worth more then $16... When I remarked "so I'm not even gonna get an apology?" The manager walked away rudely as if they didn't feel I was owed one.l as they shrugged their shouders. Perhaps management should be trained how to respond to valid customer issues instead of trying to make the customer feel in the wrong for pointing out an error 😣🤷‍♀️ or maybe train cashiers proper refund protocol when overcharging people instead of offering a phone number to call to avoid this situations in the first place?

Google
Typical L train trip to Bushwick.. started at the larger thrift shops, got totally overwhelmed, and then stumbled into this gem. Just the right amount of inventory, impeccably organized, and well priced! Perfect boutique with a little bit of everything. Snatched a cute shmmer dress and earrings.

Google
As a small shop consisting largely of small gifts and home goods, Friends offers a lot for those looking for a store with hipster flair. In pair with gifts, a small section of used apparel is also available. The staff is friendly and welcoming to all, with items being affordable!

the world is quiet here

Google
walked into the store during my walk around the neighborhood and was almost immediately followed by the woc that work there. genuinely insane to have a level of self-hatred that causes you to profile people who look just like you, but i hope you two heal from it. i didn’t even touch anything but they would conveniently be “tidying” the areas i was in. you’re better off shopping at urban.

Aria H.

Yelp
I am totally in the wrong! So sorry! Love this store! Love the staff and the selection of cute knick knacks!

Sophia C.

Yelp
Really funky and quirky store to explore, so many random things to look at. Very fairly priced in my opinion, especially for NYC. This is one of those stores you visit not expecting to purchase anything, yet end up leaving with 5 random fun things you don't really need. I purchased some eccentric gifts for friends and would definitely come back to look around! A very visually entertaining store.

Syd V.

Yelp
Went to Friends today ,5/5/24 , asked for some help and the guy that came was very unhelpful and was super high, as an individual that smokes here and there - I know what being super baked looks like and it's not good, the girls that were there today were very sweet and pretty chill.

E B.

Yelp
Such a fun, cute store. Friendly staff and unique gifts. They have clothes, books, home wear stuff, and tons of other things. their website is full of great deals too!

Kevin C.

Yelp
Fantastic clothing and accessory stop just across From the subway stop and around the corner from Roberta's pizza. Perfect place for unique gifts, burning time before Roberta's opens at 12pm, and especially buying sweaters for only $40 or so! Everything appears to be vintage.

Samantha G.

Yelp
Okay, I have officially had it. What happened to the staff in here? I love this store, and I go every few months, sometimes every month, sometimes 2-3 times a month. I love the gifts. But the last (at least) 3 times I've gone in, I am getting mean-mugged by the staff. They take their sweet time acknowledging me when I walk up to the register even if I'm the only one in the store and all three are right there, do not even say anything to me when I say hi at the register. Last time two were talking at the register, abruptly stopped talking and looked down when I walked up, clearly like pissed off or something. What is going on? I have dyed my hair neon red since this started happening? Do yall have a neon red thief you keep marking me for? This sucks so bad. I wanted to confront the staff this time but I really wanted to leave with having purchased my friend the cute gifts I picked out. I can't tell you how much my heart hurts as I vent about this. It reminds me of growing up in the south and when you are the only brown/black kid in a store, the staff will glare at you and even follow you around. It gives me that same feeling. I'm so scarred from that as a child that when I'm in a store I don't even TOUCH my purse and am super self conscious about looking/doing anything that could be misconstrued. What tf is going on.. Also wow, the reviews here are different than Google, and at least I am not the only one who feels this way I guess? Wow...

Alison P.

Yelp
I wanted to check this place out but after seeing so many bad reviews about the employees being rude to poc, NO THANKS, your business wont last anyways w that attitude and ignorance.

Yelp
Cool stuff but verrryyyyy expensive. Also, very unfriendly employees. Had to wait a while to pay and am now regretting my purchases. I wanna give my money to a store that actually wants me there?

Sakib R.

Yelp
A little pricey, but a really cool collection of clothes and accessories. I walked away with some socks and natural bug spray, and my friend found a bunch of fun tees. They have a TON of vintage tees and jeans on display. Pop in, if nothing else. It's a good vibe.

Jean M.

Yelp
I highly recommend writing the name of any product you like in this store and getting it online from the seller directly to avoid their incredible mark ups, and annoying employees. Very common theme of this store is customers completely turned off due to the employees. Anything you see here can be found online wayyyy cheaper. To the employees: you have one job. Stand there and wait for people to come to the register if need be. Stop the stalking, loud conversations, rudeness, assuming theft, etc.

Tia P.

Yelp
Expensive but lots of funky things you can purchase. Warm environment, not very crowded too. Clothes were expensive but cool in design. Some of the items were quite fair in pricing though and very cool 4/20 items ;).

Gillian B.

Yelp
Their products are so cute and it supports a lot of independent artists. Their products are very LGBT friendly and feminist

Alex H.

Yelp
This store has such cool stuff - even if I came in to browse, I always end up leaving with something cool. They have a great selection of candles, cards, books, crystals, vintage clothes, diffusers and essential oils, accessories, smoking accessories, and a ton of other things. I have gotten some of the best gifts from this shop! They are also dog-friendly, which is great for anyone who wants to bring their pup!

Joley B.

Yelp
Interesting clothing and gift shop that's worth checking out if you're in the area. We stopped in and browsed for a few minutes after having dinner nearby. I noticed that others complained about the workers watching patrons like hawks... well, on our visit, my friend and watched a guy pocket an item, and shoplifting here is a real issue. My friend reported it to workers, but the guy managed to slip out the door before they could confront him.... While I would never wear any of the clothes items here, the other gift items, cards and books are interesting and worth taking a look at.

Daysa M.

Yelp
I was thrifting around the area and saw they had a Labor Day sale. Was really enjoying the place, it was adorable. I had never been before. It's crazy when you're having a great time and then you have an employee following you around the store as if you and your sister are stealing. It's funny because she wasn't even trying to be low key about it. She also seems like the only woman of color that works there which makes it interesting that she views other women of color this way. She was kinda nice at the end maybe she felt bad because she checked us out? Whatever. Totally ruined my impression of the store. Makes sense why a bunch of white girls run the store.

Ciani R.

Yelp
I came into the store and was in complete awe. It is a very beautiful store with gorgeous merchandise. However, I did not appreciate BEING FOLLOWED THROUGHOUT THE STORE. I have worked in retail before and understand that you have to watch but the way it was done did not generate a comfortable environment at all.Everywhere my friend and I went, one specific employee was there. It got so bad to the point that she had ran into my friend trying to get where we were at. This is completely unacceptable. The environment made me so uncomfortable to the point that I left after 5 minutes purchasing nothing. My friend has come here countless times before and spent money but she was also turned off by the environment.

Viviann L.

Yelp
Cool place and friendly staffs. Clean and organized, and lots of different items. Clothing, toys, accessories, incense, etc. Decent quality and reasonable prices. Some pretty fun items of clothing and sunglasses. A few cute socks and simple but unique jewelries. It's a place I'd go again, not frequent but once in a blue moon I'd go back and check out what they have.

Nikki W.

Yelp
This place is like a hipster Family Dollar. I only go like once a year and every time I have to return some cheap product that broke or ripped like 1 day after purchasing it. Hot tip, if it's on sale you can't return it.

Genna G.

Yelp
I come for the candles and the cards and I ALWAYS leave with something. Great selection of local and not so local candles, diffusers, oils. They have fun and sometimes useful knick knacks like men's nails and grooming kits. Jewelry and clothes that are always hit or miss and a little $$ but worth a browse. There's also a good selection of sunglasses and glass bowls- those random necessities.

Rob W.

Yelp
Very cool Bushwick vintage shop with an interesting, eclectic assortment of items of both new and vintage nature.  Thought we'd just pop in to kill 5 minutes and maybe buy a card for a party we were heading to, and wound up killing a good 30 minutes perusing their wares.  The selection of sunglasses alone is worth the visit - you'll be torn between the cool, reasonably-priced options and the amazing, outré, unfortunately more expensive ones.  My wife wound up falling in love with and buying a sweet green 80s-style prom dress kind of get-up.  I wasn't able to make quite such a score, but I enjoyed perusing their assortment of men's clothes and thumbing through gift options such as the Dinosaurs Smoking Weed coloring book all the same.  And I did find a Buffy postcard, so major bonus points for that.   I will note that they currently have a 10% off Yelp Check-In offer which the staff seemed utterly unaware of and somewhat skeptical about - I won't say they made me feel like I was trying to scam them for a discount, but... well... they kind of made me feel like I was trying to scam them.  And they did mention the 8:30 closing time 3 times between 8-8:30 and kind of made clear they'd drag you out of the changing room half-naked at 8:29 if need be. But we got some quality stuff, and for (a legit) 10% off under the wire, so.. I'd happily come back if I'm in the area. Heck, I might even come a bit out of my way to come back. Just perhaps a bit earlier next time.

Caitlin M.

Yelp
Super overpriced, douche-hipster of a place. The employees are rude and the clothes are mediocre. I've been a couple times because of its convenient location and each time the employees have stared at me like I'm going to take something and are flippant if I try to ask them a question. They have events sometimes, but the free drinks are literally two gulps and the bartender eyes you angrily if you come back for another.

A W.

Yelp
One star for the selection of items at this store; I was close to purchasing some items, but the attitude of the employees completely put me off, and I don't want to support a business that is selective about what they think the "right customer" looks like. If I could give zero stars, I would. This store had a "happy hour" afternoon sale and a welcoming, cute storefront, both of which lured me in. The inside was huge; you can easily spend an hour browsing and trying on clothes. Here's where things got unpleasant: -Everyone in the store was greeted and offered a complimentary drink. I was stared at until a new person came in behind me, at which point the new person was cheerily greeted; -Employees circled me while I browsed, but I was not offered help or otherwise verbally acknowledged. Just stared at; -At one point I unknowingly stood directly in front of the bar to choose some patches to purchase; I was again stared down in silence by the bartender; -An employee lit an unknown substance and repeatedly passed it over my head without saying anything. This would be a huge issue if they did this to someone with allergies or asthma; luckily I was more confused and uncomfortable than anything. I was stunned by the lack of care taken in trying to make new customers feel welcome. I put down my items and left with no intention of returning.

Jolene B.

Yelp
They have a cute selection, but the 20 somethings that work here follow you around and demand every item you pick up like they have the biggest shoplifting issue ever. It is unnerving to be followed around and I am at a point in my life where this doesn't have to be my scene. I am way too old for this store is my takeaway and I will not return.

Annabelle V.

Yelp
The store that makes you think you need everything you actually just want. Friends combines vintage/consigned clothing with boutique-y, small new clothing brands that run fairly low on price. They also have shoes, sunglasses, and plenty of jewelry/accessories/Knick knacks. Stop by if you're in the neighborhood or in need of a fun night out look.

Shayna M.

Yelp
I love this shop! I literally want to buy everything in here!! They have lots of cute accessories, candles, stones, clothes, jewelry and more cute little trinkets. I bought a name chain that says Scorpio on it. The woman who assisted me was very kind and we had a great conversation! She was a Virgo lol. I wouldn't say all the other females who work here are as nice but they are tolerable and that doesn't really bother me since I'm in my own world already. Would come back here, this shop is cool!

Cat M.

Yelp
Pushy sales but overall your classic "way more better" version of Urban Outfitters all wrapped up and tied with a bow of hipster satin.

Victoria J.

Yelp
It could've been a cool spot, but I'd never step foot in there again. The employees ignored me and the friend I was with from the minute we walked in until we left. No one greeted us, no one asked us if we needed anything, no one would answer our questions, and we were repeated pushed past when looking at the displays. There was an event going on with a sale and free wine in shop. The customer ahead of us was offered a drink, the customers behind us were as well. Meanwhile the employees proceeded to look right past us. Not great, but not a deal breaker, we hadn't really gone there for this event specifically. But while we were browsing, a staff member kept walking past us and blowing sage smoke in our faces repeatedly for no particular reason. Didn't ask us if that was okay, didn't care that I was tearing up, just kept blowing the smoke at us. At this point we felt super uncomfortable and put what we were looking at back on the rack and left. The shop itself cool, I wish I could say I had an even decent experience. I found some awesome items from some smaller brands I got excited about; but I won't give my business to place that makes me feel uncomfortable or unwelcome. So I took down the names and can buy them from another retailer or online from the brands directly.

Ann P.

Yelp
Another cute hipster spot with trash and treasures and overpriced but fun gifts and do dads. We loved it.

Meagan D.

Yelp
Friends is a great spot in Bushwick to shop, whether it's for yourself for for a gift. From vintage to new attire, to kitchenware to books and cards, from crystals and incense to lingerie...I could go on. They had fun ornaments at Christmastime, too. Sure, some items are on the pricey side but I recently purchased a pair of stud earrings for myself and a GREAT vintage puffy coat, both at price points I found fair. In the end, I walked out feeling confident in my loot and glad I could support a locally owned store. It was also pretty refreshing being greeted upon entry, which is not always the case in some NYC spots that specialize in vintage, but these employees were kind and made me feel welcome. I'll be stopping back in for sure when I'm on Bogart because I'm frankly in love with my vintage coat. For once, it's nice to have a puffer for severely cold weather and not look like everyone else walking around.

Jess V.

Yelp
Funky selection of vintage and thrift items. Doesn't look junky and they also sell some independent brands. Jewelry is great and that's what I typically get

Alice H.

Yelp
Bad vibes all around. Had really high hopes for this place. You can tell you're just a sale $ here. Very very very overpriced and staff isn't very friendly. Used to have some pretty good vintage, but not anymore. I also had tried to purchase on instagram and it was a major hassle and super unprofessional.

Allison C.

Yelp
Damn this place is cute! Admittedly, I didn't even come here to buy anything; my arrival was brought on by my attendance to the Hot Girls Eating Pizza Polaroid Party in early May. I ended up trying on clothing and getting the Beau a few birthday presents, so it was, unexpectedly, well worth the trip! Located in the lower level of 56 Bogart, there are two sides, the Friends Vintage side, filled with awesome and wearable vintage clothing (...hello, leggings, mesh crop tops, and acid-washing overall shorts!), and the Mary Meyer side filled with many of her awesome designs. Throughout, there were tables full of gorgeous (and affordable!) jewelry, bath and beauty products, and knick-knacks galore! I ended up getting the Beau a few nice gifts: A cute glass cup with pictures of dogs all over it, a ceramic cigarette-shaped one-hitter, and a pair of white socks that say: "I *heart* Pussy". (He loved all of the gifts, by the way. Ha!) Though a bit far from my home-base in Inwood, I'm actually planning a trip back sooner than later! I really fell in love. It's worth the trip for me! (Well, at long as the L Train isn't being a total bitch. Haaa.)

Bonnie P.

Yelp
I wish that Friends NYC was my personal closet. All the clothes, jewelry, sunglasses, all of it. They even have a home section that I'm gonna have to stock up on a few items from. Friends is a great place for gifts, but also make sure you get some treats for yourself. The salespeople are very helpful and the vibes in the store are A+. A Bushwick staple. Friends forever!

Caroline A.

Yelp
Great one stop shop for gifts! I was in the neighborhood and in much need of something unique to add to my gift bag. Friends NYC had everything you could want from t-shirts to jewelry. I ended up grabbing a mix of fun items including really cool pieces of jewelry. Tip: They can sign you up for a rewards program which will give you a discount over time. Conveniently located next to the Morgan L stop and close to a few local shops and a market across the street.

Erica S.

Yelp
Kindve overpriced but awesome stuff if you have a very open minded liberal spirit!

kiki e.

Yelp
If you want to shop and support local, this is a great shop to start. It's across the way from Brooklyn Natural on Bogart. Mary Meyer offers her clothing and some amazingly curated jewelry/accessories. The clothes here are amazing, especially for the price. I highly recommend checking it out!! So far I've purchased a necklace and dress -equally wear and love both! This shop also offers a small Shoe Market annex and Bogart & Moore vintage clothes (since I haven't explored thoroughly, I won't review ).

Sophia S.

Yelp
I purchased some sunglasses at friends as was given no receipt by the lady checking me out. It happens, that part didn't upset me at all. I realized that those same glasses were about $50 cheaper from the original brand. While i was returning those glasses this rude white lady interjected into the convo and was upset that i didn't "support small businesses". She was the manager i assume but didnt get her name. I jokingly said i was broke bc i just wanted to end the convo. She hovers around and then when the sales woman ask me for my receipt, which i dont have because she did not give me one earlier. she aggressively comes in and treats me as if im being threatening. As poc I wouldn't shop here ever again. I dont need a white gentrifier to treat me like shit in my own neighborhood. All friends nyc is a water downed urban outfitters and u might as well just shop from there. The entire experience was just awful.

Mindy T.

Yelp
Cute store right off the L train. I wouldn't come here specifically to shop, but I happened to be in the area and popped in. I ended up picking up a pair of sunglasses for $20 and a cute, pink doughnut patch for my bestie. They had a variety of greeting cards along with lots of trinkets and cute gift items. I didn't really look at the clothing since it's not particularly my style, but they had a fun button up with bunny prints that had pom pom tails. I really liked the decor here, but the employees are a little stalker-ish. They follow you around the store giving you the eye like you are about to shoplift. Very uncomfortable feeling. Check in on Yelp for 10% off your purchase!

Kelsey F.

Yelp
I love this store for new clothes, vintage clothes, cute handmade artsy cards, cute gifts for friends, stocking stuffers, jewelry for myself, etc! I never come out of here empty handed and the staff are always friendly and helpful

Tiffany T.

Yelp
This little slice of retail heaven in Bushwick is definitely worth checking out. There is Mary Meyer's label, which is great quality, unique printed and patterned pieces, Friends Vintage, which has some fun vintage pieces and tons of other independent designer accessories, shoes, jewelry, and apothecary. They also have great cheap sunglasses and other small gifts. It's really more of a lifestyle store, a place to collect pieces to improve your cool BK life. AND the staff is always super friendly and receptive.

Nathalie S.

Yelp
They're clothes is kind of whatever, overpriced, average finds. All the good stuff is from brands that could be found elsewhere/online. I don't find it worth going because the employees make it a worse experience than it should be. It's laid out nicely, cute products but just be prepared to be followed through the entire shop as if you're going to steal. They are passive aggressive, paranoid, quiet, and judgy but if you're willing to put up with that, you'll probably find something you like.

Carina P.

Yelp
Amazing boutique. Very eclectic. Well merchandised - easy to shop. Great place to find a gift for a friend, lots of cool unique items very fairly priced. Great variety too not like one of these hipster stores and I walk in and they're so concerned with looking minimal and cool they have practically no merchandise! I got an amazing ring I get compliments on constantly. Good mix of new and vintage. Staff was friendly and cool. Genuine vibes. Right off the Jefferson stop east to find / get to. Their stores design was visually interesting and very inspiring!

Jayson G.

Yelp
An amazing shop with everything you need. Great new and vintage clothes, tons of stuff for gifts and a really well curated men's section. The design of the shop is super inviting and the staff is really knowledgeable and friendly. Favorite shop in brooklyn!

Jocelyn M.

Yelp
Great vintage/new shop located conveniently off of the Morgan L stop. The clothes and shoes are divine as well as their home decor!! The staff is very helpful and friendly.

Tara S.

Yelp
I love Friends! I buy from them via Instagram regularly--they post outfits and prices and you can call to put your card on file and then all you have to do is be the first to comment and it's yours! Love it. And great prices :)

Marilyn C.

Yelp
Such a fun store to stop in with a range of gifts, clothing, and house ware that are budget friendly. I picked up a couple of midi rings for $15 each that are in my steady ring rotation.

Rachita B.

Yelp
I think this store offers a nice way to shop local designs and crafts. The aesthetic is not aligned with my own, but I appreciate the styles which is why I am giving the store four stars. The style is vintage-indie, in my opinion, and there are clothes, crafts, and trinkets that would appeal to both men and women. It is located very close to the L subway station and Roberta's, so if you're in the area, stop in as you may find something for yourself or to give as a gift!

Nicole O.

Yelp
Love the selection but the salespeople are definitely hover-y and pushy. Followed me around the store and they had maybe 3 more employees than necessary for such a small space. It made me not want to go back, despite all the super cute and eclectic items. If you're reading this, tell employees to chill!

Greg N.

Yelp
I love the smell as I walk in. The selection is excellent. The service is good. Additionally im flattered Mary took a suggestion to improve the store.
