I had a really good time at the William Penn House. I found the staff really courteous and professional.. I totally love the atmosphere. The history of the William Penn house is amazing because of its Quaker activism . It's a really calm and centering environment after a day in Washington DC. I would totally 100% suggest anyone staying at this fine establishment. I also found this place to be very transgender friendly since I am a transgender woman. I can't wait to stay there another time because it is amazing.

I loved it here. Everyone was super friendly in the house, it was a great community type of place. It's completely affordable and in an awesome safe location. Everything is clean and the house has a lot of New England charm. Plus there are lots of shops, restaurants, and bars just a few blocks away. I definitely would stay here again and recommend it to others.

The accommodations were simple, but the staff was amazing. Simple, but a joy to be there! Also, so well located!!!

Incredibly helpful staff! This place is such a brilliant combination of things. Service learning, lodging, and training on how to lobby, with a faith component that centers on doing good! Extra points for Wi-Fi 6 connectivity!

You need to go up lots of stairs. It worked for me as it was close to where i was going to be, and the staff is nice and helpful. Not enough bathrooms if there are a lot of people staying there and it gets noisy late at night too if there are lots of people.

Great hostel for the student visiting DC on a budget. Staff treat you like family. Close to everything, and they will help you find and see everything.

Yelp
Cheap and in a safe neighborhood that was easy to get to and fairly cheap from anywhere downtown. The people were all nice to me and i felt comfortable here. As far as hostels go it doesn't have a lot of amenities or activities that aren't Quaker related but whatever...it was cheap and safe.

Yelp
The staff is friendly and very outgoing but the level of organization of the office leaves something to be desired. (That is, reservations seem to be easily lost.) Still, at the height of Inauguration season, I managed to get a bed here for $44 a night, which included a free breakfast each morning, and a location that was a five minute walk away from the Capitol Building. If you're single, in the 18-24 age group, and visiting Washington, I can't think of a better and more convenient value.

Yelp
First - It's not fancy, but it is cheap, safe, and in a great location. Second - the staff is friendly and will try to accommodate requests within reason. Third - the bedding is clean, the house is quiet, and the free breakfast is plain but nutritious. I stay here whenever I'm in DC.
