"Fritanga La Chavala is a five-second Youtube ad away from Carne Asada Tortilleria Nicas. There are no tortillas here (bringing one from Carne Asada Tortilleria is a good idea). But even if you don't, you'll be happy with the queso frito. It might be the most impressive queso frito of any Miami fritanga. It’s more of a queso duvet, completely covering the strips of juicy carne and sweet maduros. But every aspect of this fritanga is great. Ask for extra salsa because you’ll want it in every crevice of the takeout container." - mariana trabanino, virginia otazo, ryan pfeffer

"Fritanga La Chavala is a Nicaraguan hot bar in Sweetwater making delicious fritanga and selling Nicaraguan merch. Pairing this spot with a tortilla from the nearby Carne Asada Tortilleria is a good idea, but even if you don't, you'll be happy with the queso frito. The food here was pretty good, I wouldn’t say it’s the best Fritanga I’ve had, but still good. Place was small with almost no seating, and it was also very hot. Food portion is big. The fried cheese was undercooked in my opinion. The flavor of the meat was good and was tender. Would I revisit this location again, probably not.

Google
The food is delicious but the workers wouldn’t answer a question about the food rather they think you choose it and place in your plate. The meat felt a bit cold

I've been doing takeout for years probably more than 15 years. Not sure if these r new owners. But the food was horrible. I order 3 beef taco for my boss, the meat totally burned. Ordered to orders of round Costa das with been and cheese. The bean cold and hardly any cheese. I ordered two side of fried cheese it was slippery oily and cold as can be. Then I order a red juice for a friend that wanted one, a super large cup, and it was all mushy jell, like they didn't stir it up or put to much condiment. The bill was over $40 and we all hated it!!! Terrible the experience 😪

I bought food to go when I got home and started to eat i saw a long gray hair in the good I called and they told me no money back only credit I told her I would dispute I didn’t want credit I would never step foot in there again so she finally agreed to refund me . I drove over and nobody knew what I was talking about they said I had to come back the next day. I think it was the owners daughter super nasty and rude she walked away from me saying things. I just left and disputed the charge with my credit card. Will never step foot in that place again. I understand a hair on food is accidental but as a business you must take responsibility and no questions asked. Pelo en la comida que asco cuando les dije se molestaron conmigo i no me devolvieron mi dinero tube que cancelar con mi targeta de crédito

I order a Nacatamal I love it the taste and a lot of meat. It was worth what I paid. I recommend the place. Thank you

Google
Not my favorite fritanga. The reason I went there was because it was empty and i wanted to give it a try. Always go where the lines are longer. The food wasnt the best, the carne asada was raw, not sure if they dont care to cook quality food. I dont recommend.

Google
After repeating my order to the helper 3 times, I got "Arroz a la Valenciana". I got home and sat for dinner but it was so salty. Almost no chicken and lots of sausage. I went right to the trash. The drink was super sweet. In a few words, $22.50 wasted. Not a good choice 😕

With the new administration, the food has a Creole flavor, no waiting line and the owners manage the quality of their business. the best chicken and pineapple pastelitos in town.

Yelp
Muy rica la comida hay muchas cosas para escoger los nacatamales deliciosos y el cerdo asado súper rico es pequeño el lugar pero excelente servicio al cliente está abierto temprano

Yelp
I bought some Indio viejo, it was supposed to have meat. Let me tell you, it was just purée and not meat. Very disappointing

Yelp
The Food is OK, but literally the worst customer service you can imagine so if you go in there, prepare to be received with attitude and a bunch of immigrants that hate their life The place is very small, and have nowhere to eat on the spot take out only

Tiffany Y.

Yelp
TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. Not patient nor welcoming at all. it was my first time there and woman was tapping her fingers on container after I asked for a moment to decide what i wanted . Mind you I was the only one in the store and she acted as if I was holding up a line .

Yelp
In the heart of Miami Little Managua located in the City of Sweetwater is this hidden gem Fritanga La Chavala an authentic Nicaraguan take out. The food and deserts are delicioso and tasty. They have Nicaraguan soda and the spot is super clean. Service is polite and fast. Definitely going to visit again and they have a Cuban American fan hear. %

Yelp

Yelp
Food terrible, service terrible, the tajadas are old, the cheese not good and when I ask about the cheese they told me: " it was not bad it was that I was not nicaragüense " so if you are not from Nicaragua, don't go there because you're are going to be judged.

Cynthia L.

Yelp
Great Nicaraguan food as a take out service in the heart of Sweetwater, an area where you can find all types of delicacies without having to travel to Nicaragua. Gallo pinto was fabulous, the fried cheese amazing and the carne asada was tasty

Rolando G.

Yelp
The prices are super cheap and easily serves two. The Gallo pinto is always good and their grilled chicken breast and carne asada are awesome!!

Yelp
I was searching for a fritanga very near by...like 3 doors down, and I mistook this establishment for the other. BTW...maybe there are new owners as they gave ba a business card and the name is LA FRITANGA AMERRISQUE. I did not realize I was in the wrong place until I took a few bites and went to check into the one I had originally wanted to visit....then I realized.... The food was not impressive. I ordered Carne Asasa, with Congri and sweet plantains with queso frito. Everything....and I do mean EVERYTHING....was over cooked and hard. I was disappointed in the taste as well. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either.

Yelp
While in Miami for a week, I had to go back here twice!! I hope I spell it right, but the ~Salpicon~ was the bOooombbbb!! Just like my best friends mom makes. It's really small in there, only had room for 4 people to sit and eat, but I don't think the regulars don't mind that it's that way. They have hot food ready to serve on the spot, if you'r ever in Miami, and want some good home cooked Nicaraguan food, this spots good!!

Yelp
The food is delicious the rice, and the steak, and the Plaintain, are delicious I really recommend this restaurant to eat there they but little food but to takeout they put a lot of food

Arelys R.

Yelp
Some of the best food I've ever had serviced by some very hard working women. The carne asada and grilled chicken are delicious. Their tajadas (plantain chips) are amazing as well. I have no complaints. The place is clean and the staff is wonderful. I have even ordered for a party of 8 and they had the food ready on time and in platters.

Yelp
I have to agee with Ivan A, this is one of the best fritangas in town. Clean and very well priced with generous servings. The carne asada and chancho asado are my favorite. There is another fritanga two doors down, don't get confused. This fritanga is one of miami's best kept secrets. Check them out! Ivan beat me to it, he must be of nicaraguan descent.

Ivan A.

Yelp
This is the best fritanga in Miami. I'm always willing to drive from west kendall or wherever to eat there. It's also cheaper than most fritangas here in Miami. The repocheta is great as well as the gallo pinto. An added bonus is raspados loli right around there. This isn't a sit down restaurant, strictly Nicaraguan takeout. Its all cheap, not really healthy fare, but always delicious.

Yelp
Excellent Fresh Steak/Carne Best since my last order with La Fritanga. I took a chance and reordered from this restaurant. What ever change they made it was greatly noticed in the food quality and taste. Meat was fresh, soft, juicy, taste amazing. Rice/beans great as well soft and freshly cooked. Fried plantains excellent and sweet like they are supposed to be. The fried cheese delicious too, one of my favorite add ons you can't go out without ordering. For an $8.00 complete healthy meal with the fried cheese $1.00 $9.00 total. There's allot of food & left overs. I couldn't finish my steak & beans&rice Great value. My teenage son was so excited when he knew what I ordered. He ate the entire meal. But he doesn't eat fried cheese so maybe that kinda filled me up more too. The only thing when you add the salad (free included) it's not lettuce guys (for new customer). It's basically Latin cole slaw. So you know ahead of time. Delicious I can't say it enough. Thank you for a wonderful dinner with my family at home.

Yelp
Let me start by saying that Nica food is one of my favorite cuisines. However, after my experience here, I don't think I can eat it for a while. I wish I didn't feel so strongly, but I really really did not like what I got here. The ensalada was not even good. In fact, it tasted like the cabbage had not been washed properly. The tortilla rellena de queso was gross--very hard and just not good at all. The carne asada was not so great. It tasted a bit bland and was dry and parts were hard. The gallo pinto was seriously bland and generic tasting. I wish I never strayed from my favorite place. In terms of price, you do get a good amount of food; however, no single person in their right mind eats that much. My total for cerdo asado, maduros con crema, gallo pinto, and ensalada was $11. That's a bit expensive considering that's what I pay with a drink and enchilada instead of tortilla elsewhere. I was not too comfortable with cleanliness here either. It didn't look dirty, but people were using their bare hands to do a lot...like, say, breaking up chicharron to put on another customer's yuca. Plus, the kitchen looked disorganized (not dirty) in such a way that would make me think there's likely roaches. Honestly, bad taste in my mouth in so many ways. I just don't see what the fuss is about at all and I seriously wish I would've just stuck with what I knew...

Yelp
Great place to find authentic Nica food. Miami has a huge cuban presence, however unknown to many is that Nicaraguenses are right behind. And you can find many Nicaraguenses in Sweetwater. And you can find most of them in here. So Going here to try Gallo Pinto, Carne Asada, and Maduro Fritos would be advisable. If you've had Carne Asada one too many times and want to try something different, I would recommend the Carne en Salsa Jalapeno (Meat in Jalapeno sauce). The meat is incredibly tender, and the sauce is creamy and carries a little kick. Don't forget the cacao.

Kat V.

Yelp
I wouldn't recommend the carne asada with gallo pinto here as much as I would a few years ago. This and the cacao were all very good but it has gone a bit downhill. It's not as clean as before.. It's always packed which is okay we would eat in our car or the nearby park or order to go. Like the other reviewer said... The meat can be hard sometimes and I noticed the prices went up a bit. The sopa de mondongo was alright but I rather hit up La Fogata and get my cacao at la chipiona a few doors down.
