The 16 Best Restaurants In Hialeah - Miami - The Infatuation

"This Nicaraguan spot is as inviting as the children’s section of your neighborhood public library. Everyone here smiles at you—which isn’t always the case in a busy fritanga—and it’s relaxed enough that you can patiently choose the specific strips of carne asada you want (the shorter strips are juicier and easier to chew). Take the heavy container to one of the tables and enjoy the quiet of solo diners around you doing the same. Your fritanga here should also be paired with their rosa de jamaica that’s sour and sweet. For dessert, head to the freezer for a little baggie of their housemade ice cream with flavors like nancite, tres leches, and coconut. Get all three." - mariana trabanino, virginia otazo, ryan pfeffer

The 13 Best Nicaraguan Restaurants In Miami - Miami - The Infatuation

"Hialeah is certainly the place to find stellar Cuban food in Miami, but as many have realized over the years, La Ciudad que Progresa is a lot more diverse than that. Case in point: there are actually quite a few Nicaraguan restaurants in the area, including Las Piedrecitas, which we like for its dependably good food and casual vibe. On top of the typical fritanga steam counter, there is also a bakery case where you can pick up traditional cookies and pastries, like picos—triangular sweet breads stuffed with cheese and other fillings. There’s also a cold case featuring a variety of Nicaraguan cheeses and cultured dairy products. This makes Las Piedrecitas a one-stop destination for getting a pretty full taste of what Nicaragua has to offer." - mariana trabanino, virginia otazo

Google
Good food but a bit pricey for the portion they serve. Carne Asada plate is $15 for four rather small pieces of meat. I normally can’t finish food at other Nicaraguan places; here, I ate it all and I am not full. Gave them a try but will not be back.

Carlos RG

Google
First time here. Service is excellent but slow. Food was good but no wow factor. The portions are small compared to other fritanga locations I've been to. Pricey compared to portions.

Google
Been coming to this location for 15 years! Most delicious Nicaraguan food in the area! Always order the carne asada, Maduros, queso Frito, y gallo pinto! Then I top it with the salada and it's PERFECT every damn time! Highly recommend.

Google
Used to go here a lot when I was in jose marti middle school but nothing has changed since then I guess lol everything was fresh when I got it and the meat super soft. It did have a little line but nothing compared to other ones out there with big names and not so good food 🤷🏽‍♀️

Heddy Arguello

Google
Customer service was great. The food and price are good 👍 😋

Cesar Urbina

Google
Been coming here for years. Quality of food has definitely gone down. Prices have gone up which is understandable. But nearly $15 for a plate which isn’t all that great isn’t worth the price. Carne asada is ok but not great and gallo pinto is overly greasy from time to time. Service is always great and fast though. Come here mainly for convenience and is close by.

Google
The food quality was superb. This location is unquestionably among the top 5 destinations for authentic Nicaraguan food!

Google
Lovely and friendly people, the food is really good and cooked to perfection, at least the 20+ times I have gone it is so. The price for the Carne asada (churrasco) is about 12 dollars but they are generous when serving. Highly recommended for some good Nicaraguan food.

Yelp
Probably one of the best places for fritanga in Hialeah, the wait is always close to nothing, the price is decent and it's a pretty cool place with food. I usually take it to go, but def recommend for a fritanga fix.

Yelp
The carne asada was so delicious-- juicy, tasty. The portions are huge!! Ofcourse i ate it all and my stomach is now hurting.. but im happy has the chia - lemon to drink and its also really good and "refrescante."

Yelp
Fritanga Las Piedrecitas delivers a welcoming, no-frills atmosphere where the focus is clearly on the food. The space feels lively, with the aroma of sizzling meat and fried plantains creating an inviting vibe. It's perfect for a casual meal, whether dining in or grabbing a plate to go. The Carne Asada (grilled beef) is a must-try -- tender, well-seasoned, and cooked to perfection with a smoky char that enhances its flavor. Pair it with Gallo Pinto (rice and beans), which is flavorful and the perfect base for the meal. Fritanga Las Piedrecitas is a gem for those craving authentic Nicaraguan cuisine. With generous portions, bold flavors, and a welcoming atmosphere, it's a must-visit spot for anyone wanting a taste of Nicaragua's culinary traditions. Their Queso Frito is cooked to perfection--crispy, golden, and irresistibly flavorful. Paired with gallo pinto and fried plantains, it's a classic comfort food experience that transports you straight to Nicaragua.

Yelp
If you are looking for a super fire Completa, this is a great spot to go to if you're in Haileah. We didn't want to drive far , and heard great things about this spot so decided to go local. Doesn't look so nice inside as most fritangas , but the food is amazing. Had the Carne asada , queso frito, gallo pinto ,Maduros , and nacatamal and it was incredible . Coming back more often !

Jonathan G.

Yelp
Food is incredible. We go down to Miami once or twice a month and always try to stop by for carne asada and gallo pinto. We always get nacatamales to bring back home for the next day. Carne con salsa jalapeño is amazing too.

Yelp

Yelp
Mejor sitio para comer y ordenar comida latina, con sabores únicos y excelencia en la calidad en sus productos, servicios y atenciones

Luis E.

Yelp
Excelente servicio y comida. Unas de las mejor fritangas en Hialeah. Si estás en la área, lo sugiero

Yelp
The food was outstanding, delicious Nicaraguan foods and desserts. The carne asada was deliciously marinated and the gallo pinto (red beans and rice) was outstanding. I also had a tres leches which was outstanding. The service is great and they go out of their way to make you feel welcomed. The seating is limited but I have never struggled to find a seat when I'm there. Definite must go for fritanga in Miami.

Yelp
1st Star - quick, easy ordering process 2nd star - fried cheese and rice is pretty good Minus 3rd star - when I asked for half and half for rice, she said "no," rather than give an option for an up charge, she just says "no" I had to explain to her that I will pay Minus 4th star - I asked if she could chop up the chicken, again a "no" this is a discretion for effort, it shows she doesn't want to go to a higher level of effort that other business owners do Minus 5th star - this is usually my above and beyond star, clearly they didn't earn this one.

Yelp
Honestly, I can never go wrong with fritanga, no matter which location I'm eating in. My main go to dish is a completa with carne asada, gallo pinto, repollo and a side of mariquitas and fried cheese (can't not have the cheese on the side!) with some picante as well. Along with my food, I order a bottle of water and an Honduran soda called Tropical which has a very similar taste to a Jupiña. I don't usually embrace my Honduran culture as much as my Cuban side, but food spots like Fritanga make me feel like I'm in Honduras, although it's Nica food, the fish is very similar. The food never disappoints and the staff is always very friendly.

Yelp
Absolutely the BEST Nicaraguan food out there! Miami is blessed to have a restaurant with all of the amazing food Fritanga Las Piedrecitas contains. Nothing is better. Love this place.

Yelp
This is my go to spot for Nicaraguan food. There carne asada & gallo pinto are delicious! Don't forget to get their cacao drink, very yummy! Try this place, you won't be disappointed..

Yelp
Gallo pinto, carne asada, repollo, and QUESO FRITO! It was the perfect plate, food tasted fresh and was full of flavor. The MARACUYA was the best i've ever had(and I've tried MANY). Quality service and the owner was so attentive to our foodie needs/wants. We were attended to immediately and served within minutes, which was ideal for our quick lunch break trip from school. The parking was incredibly convenient as well(always a plus in my book). Can't wait to go back and try more dishes! #BestFritangaInMiami

Yelp
Wow amazing little gem in Hialeah gardens. Let's start with the star of the show the carne asada delicious flavor and perfectly cooked. White rice with beans and crema SO GOOD. Staff super friendly and willing to answer any questions I may have had. Hands down the cleanest nicest Fritanga I've ever been to. This place is a most of you are in the area. I will definitely be back thank you Fritanga Piedrecitas.

Yelp
Best Fritanga in Miami!! I've been eating at fritangas for as long as I can remember.. recently stumbled across this one right off the palmetto while in the area and... Wow... the carne asada was cooked perfectly and the queso frito was prob the best I've ever had. To top it off, they have house made raspados!!! I will make the drive from now on no matter what.
google avatar

Kathy M.

Yelp
I'm Nicaraguan and I do not like this Fritanga the prices are not proportional to what they serve. They serve little food for the price that you pay. **If your in the mood for some Nicaraguan food visit Flagler's Fritangas**
google avatar

James L.

Yelp
This is a decent fritanga with almost everything in it being just about average with a few things that exceed expectations. If there was one thing that sets this apart from the other fritangas would be that they have just a tad bit more national Nicaraguan things to buy. They make a good Cacao and tried their Jalapeno carne Asada which was great. They have national deserts, sodas, and pickled spices It is a decent fritanga if you live in the area its worth a visit.
google avatar

Kim V.

Yelp
The Fritanga was the best I've had in Miami! And the queso frito was delicious. The staff was so friendly and the prices are great for the portions they serve. And if you're feeling something sweet I definitely recommend he raspados de leche, amazing! They also have these wonderful homemade ice cream de coco that was so creamy and refreshing. Definitely worth a stop!
google avatar

Frankie C.

Yelp
Food was fresh and it was delicious! Huge portion too! You can definitely seperate some for later because you will get full! The meat was juicy and the spicy sauce that they give you only enhances the flavour.
google avatar

Gamal B.

Yelp
Best carne asada hands down! The gallo pinto was on point as well. You can't put a price on good food. Will definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Jim M.

Yelp
Great Nicaragua comida . They have all the favorite dishes . It's a small clean place with few tables. Service is fast, good prices and excellent food.

Yelp
I came here last week with my boyfriend we were in the area and I remembered saving this listing to try...they other yelpers were not wrong this place is great. The carne asada was delicious and we both ate from one completa the portions were generous. I ordered the cacao drink and that was also on point, they were very friendly and I look forward to eating there again especially my boyfriend who loves fritanga food.

Yelp
Nica food in Hialeah??? Can't possibly be any good. I mean, Hialeah=Cuba. Everyone knows that. If I were in search of good fritanga, Hialeah would be the last place on my mind. Or so I thought. Driving through on a hungry afternoon and tired of subpar Cuban "food" I opted to try this place because it had 4 stars. How bad could it be? I ordered what any Cuban eating at a fritanga would. Gallo pinto (congri for us Cubans) and Gallo pinto. I'll say one thing. I was expecting McDonald's grade meat and I was pleasantly and drastically mistaken. Why this place isn't in an upscale location charging 50% more is beyond me. The meat is actually tender and doesn't have the typical greasy taste that fritangas are known for. I don't leave long reviews unless it is warranted and this mom and pop shop deserves one. The rice doesn't shine with grease. The coconut ice cream is orgasmic but then again I LOVE coconut. Here is my unsolicited advise to the owner. Keep doing what you're doing but consider opening up a location closer to Edgewater or Brickell maybe even Doral. You'll do well there because there aren't any good quick serving places serving rice and beans with protein other than pretentious places that look down their noses at those of us that are Jonesing for something quasi home cooked.

Yelp
Whenever I'm working in the area, this is where I come for lunch. Very clean. Food is phenomenal and inexpensive. The staff and owner, Alfredo, are very friendly and always make you feel welcome. 5 stars without a question.
google avatar

Ryan G.

Yelp
This place is awesome! I heard great things about Fritanga Las Piedrecitas from other people and wanted to try it out. I recommended that we have it catered for one of our events and everyone thanked me for my idea. We ordered gallo pinto, maduros, carne asada, and queso frito. Absolutely everything was delicious. The gallo pinto was very tasteful, the maduros were perfectly cooked, the carne asada was lean and juicy, and the queso frito...you can never go wrong. Highly recommend if you've never tried it and are looking for some incredible Nicaraguan food!

Yelp
One word: YUM!!!!! Love this place!! Authentic, affordable and delicious food!! Staff was friendly and fast, restaurant was extremely clean and again, food was amazing!! This is my favorite latin spot when I come to Miami!!

Yelp
Food is always delicious and well cooked. We like grabbing take out from here during the week when we don't feel like cooking. Great food!

Michelle G.

Yelp
The food was DELICIOUS! I've been to many other Fritanga, but this one by far is the best. Food tastes fresh, well proportioned in my opinion and good pricing. Friendly and attentive staff! Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Janet A.

Yelp
My absolute favorite fritanga! Their quality is the best and the portions are plenty!! Love the queso frito and their maracuya is the best! Oh and if you have room for dessert try the helado nica de coco or the raspados!! Yum!!!! Friendly staff and very clean.
google avatar

Yami B.

Yelp
By far, my favorite fritanga! I've been coming here for years. The gallo pinto, carne asada, and queso frito are always cooked to perfection and it's always clean and friendly. I used to live nearby and would eat here at least once a week. Now that we live in Kendall we drive past all the other Fritangas to come here. It's right off the palmetto and it's totally worth it!! Sooo yummy!
google avatar

Susan L.

Yelp
Delicioso! Generous portions. I love the creamy jalapeno steak and plantains. Owner and staff are lovely friendly folks. Great home styled cooking.

Yelp
Best Fritanga in town, every time I'm in the area I need to stop by for a quick bite.

Kendry S.

Yelp
Place is very nice, clean, affordable and overall great place I highly recommend everyone to come here if your feeling some Nicaraguan food

Yelp
The food is amazing especially the fried cheese. I normally eat the carne asada that is juicy and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended!!!!!!!
google avatar

Jerry L.

Yelp
Love this spot. Been coming here for the last 5 years. Great quality food. The carne asada is always fresh, good portions and most importantly the fried cheese is on point. Great mom and pop shop. With all these big corporate brands taking over its nice to enjoy an authentic Nicaraguan delicacie. The staff is also super nice. Thanks for all the pounds of cheese, carne asada, maduros, and Cayo pinto you have served me throughout the years.
google avatar

karla l.

Yelp
I ordered carne asada the taste was good, however Gallo pinto was old the rice was hard, tortilla tasted stale .. I can't recommend this place .. not worth driving from Broward to this place

Suzie R.

Yelp
Best Fritanga in town! Great food and friendly staff that's makes you feel like you are home. This is definitely my go to place when I want good Nicaraguan food.

Brittany C.

Yelp
I give this place a 5 star because the staff is wonderful. The place is clean. Prices are affordable. The meat is cooked very well, they cook it to your liking. I will continue to come back here.
google avatar

Miguel F.

Yelp
The food itself was mediocre, at best (had the carne asada with moro and platanitos maduro). However, taking the restaurant for what it is, and the mid-day lunch hour, I did not feel that it was worth $10. Ten bucks can buy way more delicious food elsewhere. ($-$$)

Rudy G.

Yelp
Very pleasant dining experience. Very clean, friendly and accommodating personnel. The food was served promptly and exquisitely cooked to perfection!
google avatar

Nancy O.

Yelp
Everything here is great. This is my favorite fritanga because they have everything here, even raspados/granizados and posicles. Five yummy stars!
google avatar

Martin M.

Yelp
Great restaurant!!!!!!!! The manuelitas are AMAZING!!! The food is all around very good. I have absolutely no complaints about this place. It's not decorated in the latest style. However, WHO CARES??? You're there to eat or take it to go and that's it. Don't be taken aback by the handwritten "basura" sign on the garbage can. Once, WHO CARES??? The food is awesome and that's that! The raspados are very tasty:-)

Henry A.

Yelp
This is my favorite Fritanga. The restaurant is clean and the food tastes like as if it were made in your grandmother's kitchen. All of their dishes are great and there are many selections to choose from. I order food and natural juices frequently. Highly recommend.

Cindy R.

Yelp
It saddens me to give this place 2 stars because I used to come here alllllll the time when I was younger, my parents actually know the owners so I was always in and out of this restaurant. Back then, we'd leave satisfied with the quality, quantity and price of the food. Fast forward to 2015, and the food for 3 people costs 40 bucks NOT including sodas, they also give small amounts of food that don't even fill the plate or stomach up anymore. This place has definitely downgraded their quality and inflated their prices. End of story, extremely overpriced for a little less than mediocre food.
