"While most fritangas are concentrated in Sweetwater and Little Havana, Fritanga Nica Power fills a void in North Miami. They make a fritanga with ultra-tender carne asada and a block of bubbly fried cheese that’s crisp and golden outside, but satisfyingly rubbery inside. For $14 dollars, you’ll get a complete fixing of gallo pinto, carne asada, cabbage salad, and maduros. The fried cheese is an extra $2, but get it. It’s the cheese that really gives this fritanga its Nica power. video credit: Mariana Trabanino" - Mariana Trabanino

Edited for better delivery: I genuinely enjoy the food here—it's flavorful and clearly made with care. However, I can’t help but feel disheartened by the treatment I’ve received on multiple occasions. While the meals themselves are delicious, the service leaves much to be desired at times, especially in how my friends and I, as Black customers, are treated compared to others. I’ve observed a noticeable difference in how food is portioned and served. I’ve seen generous portions given to fellow Hispanic customers, while my group and I often receive noticeably smaller servings—particularly with meat—and are sometimes given food from an older batch, even when a fresh one is clearly available and coming in. It's a painful contrast, especially when we take time out of our busy lunch breaks to support this business. One incident that really stood out happened during a lunch rush. The server accidentally dropped the plate meant for my order on the floor. When I politely asked for a new plate, her attitude shifted noticeably. She did replace the plate, but not without giving me a visibly smaller meat portion—right in front of me. When I addressed it with the manager, she did correct the issue, but the fact that it happened at all is troubling. A simple request shouldn’t result in what feels like retaliation. I want to continue enjoying this place for its great food, but the energy and attitude I’m met with during each visit makes it hard. (This is my honest opinion take it or leave it, critique helps with growth)

I came across this place and decided to give it a try. I have to say, compared to other places the food seems much fresher, and the carne asada was seasoned and cooked to perfection. However, the gallo pinto was severely undercooked, causing the rice to be VERY CRUNCHY & the beans were a bit too firm. The portion size is great, as well as the prices! For $14 you get a fresh cooked meal which most spots charge that just for a burger. I will try again and hopefully the rice will be fully cooked next time, but if not, well there won’t be a 3rd time!

Absolutely incredible experience! The food was authentic and full of flavor — you can truly taste the love and tradition in every bite. The family who runs the restaurant is so welcoming and kind, creating a warm, home-like atmosphere. A hidden gem that deserves all the praise. MUST GO!

An unforgettable dining experience! This Nicaraguan family-owned gem serves up dishes that are bursting with authentic flavor. The steak and tounge meal was absolutely phenomenal — perfectly seasoned, grilled to perfection, and so tender it practically melted on. The warmth and hospitality of the family made the meal even more special. A true treasure that deserves to be discovered and celebrated!

If you're looking for a hidden gem in the North Miami/Biscayne area, this authentic Nicaraguan restaurant is a must-visit. The food is incredible, starting with their perfectly seasoned Gallo Pinto, a traditional rice and beans dish that bursts with flavor. The Carne Asada is tender and grilled to perfection, offering that rich, smoky taste you expect from a great cut of beef. Their fried cheesy is a perfectly fried salty and chewy delight, pairing wonderfully with fresh, handmade tortillas. The restaurant itself is super clean, adding to the comfort of your dining experience. It's a small, unassuming spot, but the authenticity and quality of the food make it a standout in the area. For anyone craving genuine Nicaraguan cuisine, this place is a true find.

Just wanted to share a quick note about this great restaurant I recently discovered. The food was delicious, the staff warm and welcoming, and the prices were surprisingly affordable. It’s definitely a hidden gem—I’ll be going back soon! Next time, I plan to check out their breakfast menu.

We walked in only really wanting to order some take out but the atmosphere and food looked so great that we decided to stay. Food was delicious and authentic. The owners are super nice and are Nicaraguan. The dining area is small but comfortable. This place is so clean and well kept. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
We were planning to go to Los Ranchos in Haileah but the place was closed permanently. My husband was craving for good gallo pinto and churrasco. Of course, I had to do the Yelp search. This place looked promising. I am so glad we decided to try this place. The lady inside the counter was super friendly and asked us if we tried Nicaraguan dishes. They just brought out fresh tray of churrasco. They looked so good. So, we both decided to have churrasco and Gallo pinto. The meat was tender and rice had just right seasoning. The lady even told us that they make their own chimichuri sauce fresh. Oh, the plate if this churrasco was only $14! You can't beat that! We definitely will go back!

Yelp
I hadn't been to a Fritanga in at least 10 years and boy did I miss it. The carne Asada from this place was sooo soft, wish the rise would've had a bit more flavor but everything was delish either way. My uncle got the Nacatamal which he said was good also, only thing I noticed is that it was on the smaller size. Other 2 things we got were the Tamarindo juice drink and the Cacao which was very very delicious. Can't wait to be back and try other items. Service was also great and everyone was super nice and the small sitting place inside was clean and well lit.

Yelp
I went to this place today for lunch because someone told me about it. I would say that it's a good option for lunchtime because the food is like a pre-service where you walk in and the food is right in front of you. I ordered the carne asada and it was good in terms of the food style. The queso frito was also good, but nothing different from what you can make at home. Of course, they ask for a tip when you pay, but I had to ask for the dressing and hot sauce because they didn't offer it (and they ask for a tip??? Miami style). Two big comments. My order was to eat at a table inside, but they gave me plastic silverware to cut the meat (horror) - better to say you have to eat with your fingers... Second big mistake - the bathroom is closed and it says "out of order". No chance to clean your hands to eat with your fingers because you can't eat carne asada with plastic silverware. I hope the owner reads this comment. Small changes make a big difference. This place has a lot of potential because there are a lot of working people around. I stayed inside for 30 minutes eating my lunch and I saw more than 20 people place orders and leave, and they ordered more than one dish each. Probably 30 orders in 30 minutes... But only me and another guy were eating inside????? Please use better plastic silverware or regular silverware and OPEN THE BATHROOM. This says a lot about the restaurant.

Yelp
The meet is so delicious.. two large pieces. I got it with the rice and beans (pico de gallo), plantains, and fried cheese. it was supper delicious and huge portions. The place is small only a few tables..

Yelp
I had driven by this place a few times & had been meaning to try it. I'm glad I did! This is a tiny hole in the wall eatery with ready prepared Nicaraguan food, desserts & treats. We each ordered the same thing because it looked good - & it was. Ordered the carne asada (churrasco steak), Gallopinto (red beans & rice), plantains, fried cheese & salad. Everything was hot & fresh, plus I loved the sauces, picante, pico de gallo, chimichurri & a homeade sauce, all very good. I also took home a slice of bread pudding for $2.50, not pictured but I ate it when I got home, after warming it a bit in my double oven, and it came out gooey and delicious. This is a very small restaurant with 3 tiny tables. We got a table because we had a very late lunch but if you plan to eat inside, don't come during the busy times, it will be slammed. It was pretty busy while we were there but thankfully, I already had a table. I'm glad to have this lil spot close by & am looking forward to coming back, yum

Yelp
I found this restaurant and until now I had very good reviews until recently. I usually order to go. I noticed the meat portion was smaller than usual, and the gallo pinto, usually flavorful, was bland. I was both surprised and disappointed. I'm not not giving up yet, I will try once more to see if this is a trend or not.

Yelp
10/10!!! I have ordered from here time and time again from individual plates to catered trays. I get the usual carne asada meal w/gallo pinto & queso frito, and they do not disappoint! I especially love the cheese, so soft and no rubbery sounds when you chew it, lol. Cannot forget about the customer service. They were always very courteous and helpful when placing my order. This is my go-to place for fritanga in North Miami.

Yelp
It hit all three points the food good service get ambience and I got to eat steak the steak dish is $14 comes with two 6 oz steaks hungry plantains coleslaw and three types of sauces cannot beat that the flavors come by check it out

Walé F.

Yelp
Was craving a good Nica lunch similar to the one I use to get in little Havana ...and this place did not disappoint!! Rice, beans, plantains and your choice of protein (all looks great pork, beef stew , ropa vieja etc) but I was craving the steak and it was juicy and didn't need anything (although they suggested the chimichurri and that did make it even better)..they also serve it with a piece of square fried cheese that I didn't know I needed ...so good ! I will 100% recommend this place to friends and family in the area...prices are reasonable and the quality is high, in addition the restaurant is very clean and new ...this lunch qualifies them as a hidden gem Ps: the chicharrón was also really really well done and good!!

Jaquie M.

Yelp
Found this spot after shopping in the area. Had the ropa vieja plate - enough for two people. Juicy meat with white rice and maduros. It hit the spot. Drinks are extra sweet so opted for water instead. Parking is available in the strip mall. Bathroom requires a code and is for patrons only.

Yelp
I checked out this place because it was located next to the place I was going to and surprising stumbled upon it. I honestly thought it was delish! It's a small place that serves traditional nica food, we ordered a complete meal with rice, beans and all the good stuff. It was so good! The service was also very good, the lady approached us several times to ask if we needed everything and check in on the food. Great place for nica food!

Delsa B.

Yelp
The food was the bomb digity! Wow and so much of it. 2 people that eat a lot can eat and feel full. But the taste omg, worth the drive. So good. Ladies at the counter were super nice.

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Coming from a Nica home , I was highly disappointed with the taste of food . There was absolutely no authentic flavor sadly don't recommend if you're looking for tasty food that would take you back to your culture.

Carolina V.

Yelp
Right on Biscayne and 125th this flavored packed Fritanga offers your typical Nica food and I must say it's THE best Nica food I've had. The restaurant is small with just a few tables but the service is amazing! For $20 I got the typical Nica dish- Carne Asada which comes with Gallo pinto, sweet plantains, queso frito and the little bag of Repollo. They of course offer other food like their typical soup, chicken and also stuffed, tamales, and so much more! Definitely a must when I'm in the area and this type of food was much needed here!

Cinthia L.

Yelp
Great food, good prices, friendly staffs, and rich Nicaraguan heritage - Carne Asada, Yuca, Gallo Pinto, Queso Frito, Chicharron. Helado de Leche con Coco - must try =)

Blabla C.

Yelp
This is a little North Miami secret. The Food is delicious and the service is great. Definitely worth trying. This is more of a take out place then sit down.

Yelp
I found this spot when I was taking my dog to the groomers with my daughter. She was so hungry that morning for breakfast and didn't ever consider going to a fritanga to eat. I went there with my Kain. I met the owner and his wife and it was the best experience of my life and I've been going back every so often. The owner is a fantastic man Always accommodating always pleasing in the food. Well we keep coming back for garden, Asada, eggs, Moro, and so many other different plates and sometimes we get seconds just so we can take it home thank you. I'm walking better these days one day I'm gonna walk in without my cane and he's going to be so proud, that's how much of a family orientated caring for his customers and feeding them at the same time. Thank you.

Renzo B.

Yelp
Really tasty food. Small humble place with good service and even better food. Really good meat - Carne Asada Rice&Beans - Gallo Pinto

Juan B.

Yelp

David Z.

Yelp
Been going to Fritangas my whole life and this one is special. Good clean atmosphere with high quality food and all the Nica flavors. Perhaps one of the best "carne asada" aka "churrasco Nica style" I've had. Cheers to them.

Allison B.

Yelp
Drove by this place Friday morning and decided to stop in after work, walking in everyone greets you and it is very colorful, smells AMAZING and looks clean. the lady serving me was the owner ( i asked bc she was responding to everything with so much love and detail) she recommended juices to try so customer service is 5 stars!!!! And the fresh passion fruit drink is delicious! I had the carne asada with gallo pinto, fried cheese and plantains. The meat was well seasoned and everything tasted amazing and authentic nica fritanga. Great amount of food for the price! Definitely gained a Loyal customer with me

Jacqueline A.

Yelp
Omgggg. This fritanga is sooo good and sooo fresh. The gallo pinto taste homemade which is rare for a fritanga to have. The carne asada was flavored to perfection. I Definitely recommend.

Grub T.

Yelp
I was browsing yelp when I came across this place and decided I wanted some fritanga. There was 13 reviews at the time it came across my feed and all 13 reviews were good, so I was like I got to go see what the commotion is about. When I got there I discovered it was a nice, clean and kind of low key spot with a couple of tables because the place isn't big. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I ordered the Carne asada meal which came with Gallo pinto and maduros and I also ordered a side of queso frito. I definitely see what all the commotion was about on yelp. Everything was fresh, everything smelled good and most importantly everything tasted good. I've had Carne asada in the past, but this here was different in a good a way. When I received my food I immediately dove into the plate forgetting to take pictures before I started eating it's funny now that I think about it, but I was kind of mad when I realized I forgot to take pictures. In closing, the food was great, the staff was nice and the place was clean, so I'm definitely going back. For a full visual of this review subscribe to Grubtent on YouTube.

Yelp
Hmmmm not the most authentic Nicaraguan fritanga, but it could be worst. They served me a pitalla juice that was bad.

Allen H.

Yelp
Delicious Food! Friendly and personal service. Small dining room, but I would go again... and again, and again. If only I lived in Florida.

Carlos H.

Yelp
Delicious food! One " completa" was enough for my dinner and lunch the next day. Carne asada was juicy and tender.

Eddy C.

Yelp
If you're from Nicaragua and are looking for a Fritanga in the north Miami area this is your go to location. It has a new image to Fritangas and you can taste the love and passion in the food. Their carne asada is to die for
