Fromagio’s exceeded my expectations on The Chikky Pesto Sandwich and the Italian Sandwich! The bread was crispy and not burnt, the meat, cheese and dressing just complimented eachother so well. I also had the cinnamon roll that wasn’t pictured because I was so excited and it tasted too delicious that it didnt make it 😅 We will definitely be back! I’m upset at myself that I didn’t try the Crepe Layered Cake because it looked so beautiful and yummy 😋

Google
Apologies, this review is from a month ish ago. The staff greet you with smiles and are always willing to offer delicious samples and provide knowledge of their products. Their sandwiches hit the spot and are awesome concoctions. I had the pesto chicken sandwich. It was good enough that I packed up some friends and had them come with me the next time and the food was again on point with as was the service. While waiting there is a cool art shop connected to the restaurant to browse as well.

I have been wanting to try this place and it was perfect on a cold day. I had their grilled cheese and tomato basil soup. Both were incredible! You can tell everything is made in the shop. Loved the bread on the sandwich, cheese was perfectly melted and the types of cheese were perfect together. The tomato basil was so fresh and I could go back just for that. Combining the two were perfection. The meal itself was around $20, so not cheap but great quality food. Sampled some amazing cheeses they had on hand. I can’t wait to go back.

Google
One of the best spots in town! The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. They will help you on your journey to discovering the best cheese for your application and provide some rewarding samples to help make your decision. Their menu for food is perfect. Sandwiches, soups, and cookies are all made with the best ingredients and to perfection. Many of the ingredients are locally sourced and everything is made to the highest quality. You will not regret a visit to this shop!

If you need a new place for an amazing lunch, come to Fromagio’s Artisan Cheese. They make an amazing grilled cheese, have soups and just added a muffuletta sandwich to their menu. They offer local made sodas, a to go cheese plate, salads and of course, cheese! Family friendly, I mean, most kids love a grilled cheese sandwich! They have open access to the gallery next door, which gives an open, artistic vibe. Great hidden spot!

Google
Just got the Italian sandwich from this shop. Due to my line of work, I have eaten at every sandwich shop in anchorage. This sandwich is amazing. I can’t wait to come back and have another one. Would recommend 10/10.

Google
This place is unbelievable. Awesome spread of a variety of delicious meats and cheeses. Staff is friendly and helpful. The Italian sandwich was phenomenal. I've been to Europe and this is better than any sandwich I've had. Love this place!

Google
All around a magnificent sandwich. Bread is fresh and moist, lettuce is fresh and vibrant, cheese is flavorful and memorable, meat is well portioned and tasty. The ham and jam is the only cold sandwich so be aware if you are expecting a cold Italian Highly recommend

Yelp
Walked in and it was better than I expected. We stopped in to see if we could put an order in for a charcuterie board. And sadly it was, but the kind gentleman behind the counter put a smile on my face with the next phrase he spoke. We can build a board and you can sample. Oh my heart. We tried 4-5 cheeses and 3 meats. All so delicious, I don't remember the names but I'm going back today so I will update this later. I came here to not talk about the board but a sandwich. We caught them open on a day that they are usually closed. But because of the holidays they are open so they can fill orders. They had a very limited menu so we looked and we ordered. We got the game and cheese with mustard and fig jam. That sandwich is amazing. It has tomato, lettuce, red onion, i believe it's a Swiss cheese, Dijon mustard, fig jam on an amazing rustic bread. AMAZING! my daughter and I are meeting for lunch today and yes, yes we are getting that sandwich. She really wanted to try the grilled cheese, but in her text she said I don't even want that anymore. All I could do was laugh. If you find yourself in the area or just want a good sandwich, stop in grab one and maybe you will find something else delicious to nibble on.

Laura O.

Yelp
I have meaning to come here for YEARS but every time I was in the area - it was closed. But today was the day! I am so happy they were open today for lunch. I ordered the black and blue sandwich and it was BEAUTIFUL. I am a sucker for a good sandwich. If you are a blue cheese lover - this is the sandwich for you. My friend ordered the classic grilled cheese and it came with the cutest little ramekin full of gherkins. The owner is happy to provide cheese samples while you wait. Take the opportunity to try out some fancy cheeses - you won't be disappointed. I will make sure to come back for lunch again soon. Service was awesome, cheese was tasty, and sandwiches full of flavor.

Yelp
Love having a specialty cheese shop in town. You know you're in good hands when regulars are called out as soon as they walk through the door and samples are offered lovingly. Lunch was amazing - we had two sandwiches and a dessert that we were happy to have leftovers to take with us. Are they steep in price? Perhaps. Are they worth it? I say they are. The flavors and portions are amazing, and I'm eager to come back and try brunch. The setting is interesting as it is adjacent to a gallery, giving it an artsy vibe. And of course, the staff were super helpful in recommending our first try meals and describing what all they have to offer.

Kristen B.

Yelp
Made a quick stop in. Cute little shop and cafe attached to an art shop. Food was good. Next time I'll purchase some cheese.

Daniella A.

Yelp
The only artisanal cheese ship in Anchorage, but it's also so much more than just a deli! The sandwiches here while pretty pricey are honestly delicious. The Italian sandwich was one of my favorite sandwiches I ate this year. When purchasing I scoffed at the price ($19), and I do still think it's expensive, but it was delicious. An easy way for them to make the price seem a bit more reasonable is including something with their sandwiches. A little side salad, some pasta salad, a potato salad would be nice. I've also tried the cubano. It was good, but I'm very picky about Cubanos and this one was on the drier side sauce wise. This shop came under new ownership in 2021 so many cool things have been added like specialty event dinners. The owner used to operate the pop up "A crepe crew". There were a raclette and cacio e Pepe dinners. On the weekends they do brunch including many of the specialty crepe dishes from a crepe crew. They sometimes carry house made desserts as well. This shop has many specialty cheeses and meats that would be hard to find sold elsewhere in Anchorage. They make beautiful charcuterie boards if you need one for a party. I've gotten their "emergency cheese kits" which are fun little 2 person serving boards. Great for a picnic or to bring for a post hike snack. This shop is one of a kind and definitely deserves some love so it stays around for many years to come!

Yelp
Excellent food, the staff is fantastic & knowledgable, and it has a pleasant & relaxing atmosphere. We enjoy supporting local businesses and we highly recommend this establishment.

Teresa S.

Yelp
This place is such a treat. Everything is hand crafted and it's an experience into the realm of fine cheeses incorporated with lunch familiarities. I enjoy this place so much.

Colleen W.

Yelp
Kevin was AMAZING as a cheese monger. We had the charcuterie for two and it was excellent. I HIGHLY recommend this business. 10/10

Carrie G.

Yelp
Today We got their Essex feta cheese, some goat cheddar, and a melty cheese for tuna melt I forgot the name but it was very creamy and light. We also got their loaded focaccia bread. Oh my it was so good. It had potato's, shredded cheese, and green onions. Their lunch/brunch food is always amazingly good

Dave V.

Yelp
Let's not mess about. Go there and order the Italian with a smores cookie. It's filling, filled with flavor, and worth every penny. Go there early because sometimes the sandwiches are in such high demand that they run out. The cheese is great and the art gallery is a plus. Love this place. I highly recommend.

Matt H.

Yelp
The staff is friendly and helpful, whether you are picking out cheeses to go or trying one of their tasty sandwiches. You do need to be prepared to be flexible, as the inventory of cheeses varies fairly widely and also may be out of sandwich ingredients. I'm sure that's a part of having fresh choices and ingredients for serving our little town. There are a handful of bar stools and a couple tables for those that enjoy their sandwiches as I do.

Brett E.

Yelp
Great cheese varieties used in great sandwiches. Reasonable hours of operation . Its proximity to the Eastern European Deli makes it a great shopping day

David G.

Yelp
What a well curated cheese and charcuterie shop! Superb selections, presentation and all the accompaniments you could ask for. Great vibe in the store. Also makes a perfect lunch spot with perfectly built sandwiches using their aforementioned products placed between some outstanding bread. Great place run by people who really get it.

Hey it’s H.

Yelp
Excellent service and a very nice selection of top quality cheeses and meats. Will definitely stop frequently!

Jasmine I.

Yelp
Fromagios, known for being the cheese experts, also make killer sandwiches for lunch. Sometimes they do pop-ups at Double Shovel Cider Co. Fromagio's makes various cheesecakes and sweet treats for sale as well. I've ordered charcuterie from a few small local businesses, (millenials and their lunchables, am I right?!) And since I'll bet most of the smaller places get a lot of their cheese from Fromagios, I've always wanted to try their charcuterie. Most recently, I received a Love Day chocolate, cheese, and charcuterie box. It was ordered within hours of it being ready for pick-up. Fromagios definitely accommodates the procrastinators, and we appreciate them for that. The box was beautiful with a great mix of fresh, sweet, and savory items. I want to say it was my first time eating natural fig. Highly recommend.

Joy L.

Yelp
Thank god, they are open again and they have all the beautiful cheese and meats again. And fabulous sandwiches and baked goods. This place is OFF THE CHAIN!!!! the European imports are of the best quality. Pure bliss.

Quinton L.

Yelp
The staff is always engaging and informative when introducing new cheeses, it's a fun experience. The turkey sandwich is revelatory. Best sandwich in the city and it's not even close.

Robert K.

Yelp
Wow! This place is amazing. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have a wide variety of cheeses to choose from but the sandwiches they do are amazing! Would definitely go with the Italian if it's your first time here! This sandwich is massive! For size and the quality of this sandwich the price is definitely perfect. The bread is very soft, the different veggies go with it very well. They use what's in the display for cheeses and meats for their sandwiches. So you know it is high quality. Definitely worth stopping by for a sandwich to go or dine in. Also don't forget to stop by and get some cheese! They have enough cheese to choose from for you to keep coming back for more! Stay cheesy!

Yelp
Fromagio's is under new ownership. They opened back up around January 2021. Their new sandwiches are really good, but heavy and filling. There is no doubt more dine in & 'to go' options as far as sandwiches & food go. I do love the new Bellocq tea they have, which is a tea company they order from in Brooklyn, NY. The Afghan Chai is my favorite tea that they offer at Fromagio's. Their variety of cheese is the same great flavor. Some of the cheeses themselves are a little bit more expensive than I remember them being. That could be due to a lot of factors, like the pandemic and the price of cheese & shipping going up. Everything is pretty good. I do appreciate that they have a few new creations like the cheese cake and more sandwiches. The main issue I have with this place under new ownership is the prices they charge for their food. They're least expensive sandwich is around $14ish and their most expensive is around $17. Their mini portable cheese cake is around $18. I wouldn't buy a sandwich at that price unless I wanted something really heavy, filling, and it was an every once in a while treat. I probably won't come in as often as I used to for that reason. The price of food in Anchorage and in general is increasing and I'm more discerning about what I'm purchasing going forward. All in all, it's good, there are more food options, but I'm skeptical of their new prices and if the value of what you're getting with the food is worth the price.

Kate S.

Yelp
Be still my heart - to have a length conversation about cheese, the regions, how they make it...it's so cool to find this in Anchorage! Next time I'm heading I either with a wine list in hand, or with a notebook so I can pair wine with the cheese rather than vice versa. What a service to provide - delicious product AND excited food conversation! It's lovely inside and it's neat that it's paired with a beautiful gift shop. Go to there.

Olivia M.

Yelp
My Family and I have been there twice now and everything we have tried has been AMAZING. The service is friendly, super welcoming and really know their stuff. The athmesftere is classy but comfortable.

Stacee F.

Yelp
The friendly banter, the great sandwiches, and tremendous recommendations for top shelf cheese recommendation. A visit to Fromagio's is easily a highlight of the week. Ian, Kevin, & Christopher...thank you!

Paula S.

Yelp
The hubby and I had an anniversary and I wanted a nice cheese plate for the event. I stopped by here and had zero knowledge of meats and cheeses. The staff was very helpful and put together a plate for us. It was delicious and all the flavors blended well. Definitely recommend.

Laura T.

Yelp
What a beautiful experience! When it's time for a charcuterie tray it's time Fromagio's! From the Duck Prosciutto (buy it by the slice!) to the selections of blue cheeses (some for pairing with fruit and some for your steak!), to choosing between the 5- and 10-year Hooks Cheddar cheeses! the process of making your choices will be as much fun as eating these delectables! Well... almost. Don't forget to add on some Quince jam, or Buffalo crackers... mixed olives... Almonds... Dried cherries. Much to choose from!

Sean G.

Yelp
This place is great! Amazing cheese and some great food items to pair it with. They will let you sample before hand and the staff is supper knowledgeable so ask the questions. They also offer a class for those of you who want to learn more! The class is $40 but all you do is learn and eat cheese and other paired snacks!!

Andrew H.

Yelp
I ordered a cheese platter and a charcuterie platter the day of an event I was hosting. Because, you know, I'm a procrastinator. These folks told me that it would be ready at 5:30pm the same day and it was early even a little bit earlier than that! The cheese and meat were huge hits at the party, the only things left were the beautiful slabs they were served on. Will definitely use them again for all my meat and cheese needs!

Georgia D.

Yelp
What an adorable shop. I'm not sure why I haven't come here sooner. It's probably because I'm not a huge cheese Eater but I needed some parmesan and could not bear the idea of getting the cheap pre -shredded, atrocious supermarket cheese so I stopped in here on this sunny day to check them out. Not only do they have a huge selection, it's very clean and nicely displayed. Next time we fondue, I'll be coming back here to get the cheese I need. I got the most beautiful hunk of parmesan. I can't wait to toss some with my asparagus tonight. Yummy! Do try them out, you won't be disappointed.

Manny G.

Yelp
Artisan cheese in Anchorage, oh my how have times changed. this is a cool little cheese store that sells a small selection of meets as well. The Gents working the counter are very knowledgeable and very friendly. This is a must stop before entertaining your guest will love it and you will be Party person extraordinaire.

Yelp
This place used to be AMAZING I mean to die for, their grilled cheese was second to none. The cheese was aged incredible flavor, they would use 2-3 different kinds in your sandwich, there are honestly no words to describe it. Unfortunately the place is now under new ownership and it seems quality is not their priority. I went back after being out of state for a while hoping to find my all time favorite and unfortunately the sandwich was incredibly disappointing. The cheese had no flavor at all, it could have been Kraft cheese. Very bland one kind and the sandwich, I mean my six year old could have made it better. For 15$ (tip included) I'd expect more then this from an artisan cheese shop. It's honestly heart breaking, I loved this place and now it's just a memory.

Nicole R.

Yelp
I stopped by here last week during my lunch break. It's a tiny shop that's easy to miss, but definitely worth the visit. The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable about the cheeses, and they're very generous with samples. I ended up getting two types of Gouda cheese, both from the Netherlands and made from cow's milk. The L'Amuse Signature Gouda is earthy and nutty, while the Wilde Weide Gouda has a sharper, more fruity flavor. I tried some of the cheese made from goat's milk and sheep's milk which I enjoyed as well. I also got some of their housemade fruit and nut crisps, which pair with the cheeses excellently. Perfectly crunchy and slightly sweet from the dried fruit pieces. I intend to go back sometime to try their lunch menu, which consists of sandwiches, soups, salads, mac and cheese, and boards with a variety of cheeses, fruits, and nuts. I look forward to visiting again next time I want to expand my cheese-tasting horizons.

Yelp
As a cheese lover, this place is a dream come true. Fromagio's is located on the corner of Arctic and 36th Ave in a shopping plaza next to an art gallery and across from Kobe Teppayaki House. The seating area is cozy with a few tables and chairs for the lunchtime crowd. The employees are very friendly and are happy to give you a free sample of the delicious assortment of cheeses on display at the counter. I was offered a sample of the Bayley Hazen Blue Cheese which was creamy melt-in-your-mouth good. The guy behind the counter recommended this cheese for grilling burgers in the backyard. Sold! That cheese was so good I could've had that as a snack by itself. I came in a couple of times since I heard that they serve lunch items like sandwiches, soups, and salads and I was eager to try some of these with the artisanal cheeses. I ordered their Cubano Melt sandwich which had sliced roast ham, gruyere cheese, pickles, lettuce, and mayo on toasted Ciabatta bread with a side of tomato soup sprinkled with their specialty blue cheese. This was one of the best sandwich and soup meals I've had recently along with the Chicken Alaska sandwich I had at Great Harvest. The bread was hot and fresh while the meat was juicy and the gruyere full of flavor. On a previous visit, I ordered their Italian Melt which had coppacuolo (Italian ham), salami, pepperoni, and provolone on Ciabatta and this was outstanding as well. Some of the featured cheeses they had available are the Mt. Tam (smooth, creamy triple-cream made with organic milk and a buttery, earthy flavor comparable to white mushrooms from California's Cowgirl Creamery), the Seastack (a bloomy rind cow milk cheese aged two to three weeks with a buttery silky flavor made in Washington state), the Vermont Shepherd (a hard cheese with a sweet and salty flavor), the Flora Nelle (blue cheese with a salty intense flavor....perfect for making cheeseburgers or smothered on top of a juicy steak), and a creamy, tangy version of their Feta cheese. Father's Day promotional cheeses include the Garda Reserve, Pleasant Ridge, Blackstone, and the aforementioned Bayley Hazen Blue cheeses with a choice of two meats (a combination of all four artisanal cheeses 1/4lb each for a total of 1lb. and two cured meats at a 1/4lb. total). They also offer decorative cheese and charcuterie meat platters that also include a choice of house-made fruit & nut crisps, marcona almonds, or dried cherries. In addition to selling cheeses, they also offer two-hour cheese tasting classes where you will learn and understand the different styles of cheese making, milk type, flavors, and traditions as well as catering services for wedding receptions and parties. A fun place to visit for any cheese lover to enjoy the free samples as well as having lunch with top-quality ingredients for their entire menu.

Yelp
I really love the products here. I want to give the food stuff and atmosphere 5 stars. And, the customer service 1 star. I called at 11:30am a few weeks ago to try to secure a cheese pairing with wine tasting at my place of employ because of how much I love the cheeses and expertise of the staff. However, the owner was impatient while I was switching from speaker to be able to hear better. She said I don't have time for this and hung up on me. It was literally a few seconds. I am very disappointed with how I was treated. I really wanted to give them a spotlight. I do not even want to go back despite my love of their cheese. Doesn't sit well anymore. I will have to use Fred Myers here in Anchorage. They have some really great choices but are nice. Fromaggio has a superb product but rude staff. I choose nice.

Toni T.

Yelp
I love Fromagio's! I've been purchasing specialty cheeses for years, since they were off O'Malley! I've always enjoyed tasting anything and everything and always walk out with more than I need. We partake in homemade fondue quite often, along with other tasty concoctions, so this is the place to get some of the specialty cheeses! I do purchase some cheese elsewhere, and when asked at my most recent visit about a specific kind needed for traditional fondue, I mentioned that I had already picked it up. The young man unfortunately scoffed a bit about having purchased specialty cheese from a store other than theirs. No worries though, it won't stop me from going back. They've turned me on to some awesome cheeses that I wouldn't have otherwise ever tried!! Prices are a bit steep, but they're specialty and locally owned so you can expect a bit of that. Still worth it, especially if cheese is it's own food group in your life!

Kelsi N.

Yelp
Seriously the BEST sandwich shop I have ever been to! Not only is the staff kind, friendly, and always ready to give great recommendations, the food is nothing short of phenomenal! The prices seem high, until you take the first bite, then you will understand that you are paying for quality, delicious, "made-with-love" food. I have tried the Italian, the Cubano and the original cheesecake with the wild berry sauce, and I cannot wait to try more! I would have posted photos of my food- but it's too hard to stop once you start eating! Each item is packed with so much flavor and freshness, I can only imagine how amazing the other menu items will be. If you love sandwiches and great people, definitely hit them up!

Amanda M.

Yelp
Just wow!! I went there to find a cheese for my husband and discovered that I love cheese!! They let us sample sample sample and they were incredibly knowledgeable. They could take a keyword (e.g. mild, creamy, stinking, soft etc.) and pair it with numerous options. This store has quite literally changed my life as far as cheese is concerned lol. Thank you Fromagios!!!

Eleni K.

Yelp
Rating Fromagio's is a challenge. 1. The quality of the cheese is 5-star, the selection interesting and well thought through, and the cheese is stored correctly. I've never been disappointed by the flavors. 2. Prices are extremely high - last time I went, the cheese I looked at ranged from $35-$60/pound (not a typo - $60 for one pound of cheese). 3. The service is atrocious. I stopped going for over a year after the man behind the counter was dismissive, arrogant, and treated me like an irrelevant bug. After a year, I decided to try again. The same man was there and just as rude. For example, as I struggled to pronounce a cheese name, instead of helping me out, he silently stared at me while I made repeated attempts (he knew what cheese I meant because he took it out to cut it for me). I had to come home and consult Google for the correct pronunciation. Huh??? If you're a specialty cheese store, especially one that charges the prices this one does, part of your job should be educating customers. And, it goes without saying, you should not act like your customers are idiots who aren't worth treating like humans. It's not like he was busy - I was the only customer in the store. Bottom line: if you want good cheese, price is no object, and you're prepared to be treated poorly, I recommend Fromagio's. If being treated poorly or exorbitant prices are deal-killers, Murray's cheese counter within Fred Meyer stores has terrific cheese. That's where I'll get my cheese from now on.

Al P.

Yelp
Having a local cheese shop somehow makes me feel so much better about the world, and Anchorage is definitely better off for having Fromagio's. I agree with the other five-star reviews about this place. The cheese selection is excellent, and I am always learning about new cheeses. I like that they have a fairly reliable stock, so I can always get my Mt. Tam Cowgirl Creamery (I love the soft cheese because they are like butter, but they're cheese!), and the prices are totally comparable, considering that I usually only buy a little at a time. Their charcuterie is also excellent--nothing like a little cured meat for that cheese plate. I also love the sandwiches and soups I've had here (and the mac and cheese from the now-closed Spenard location was also amazing, though I don't know if they will be adding that to their O'Malley menu, which is our loss). They are creative but simple, so delectable. The staff is just as described, kooky, knowledgeable, and friendly. Sometimes, the staff at O'Mally can be very slow (something I never experienced at the Spenard)...I mean, slow enough that I have wondered if they are on ludes or something as I watched them oh-so-tenderly but lethargically prepare a sandwich or an order. But they are always cheery when doing so, and I find it more amusing than annoying, though I could see how it could get annoying if one is very hungry or in a rush. Since they arrived, Freddy's has stepped up their cheese game, which is a testament to how good this place is, and I am a devoted customer.

Estrella V.

Yelp
I would spend days choosing cheese here. Trying so many options was helpful to finally buy a couple of them. Nice place to chill too.

Kristen D.

Yelp
I stopped by this place to get a snack. They don't usually make cheese plates to eat in the shop but they did for me. I am so glad they did too because it was delicious! I am so excited to bring my husband back here so that he can enjoy the wonderful cheesemongers and the tasty cheeses they have to offer.

Miranda S.

Yelp
I stopped by to join some old friends visiting Anchorage from the Peninsula. We had just eaten lunch ourselves so I just ordered a snack for my two small children (who don't seem to stop eating). The people working there are friendly and go above and beyond with customer service. The owner expertly occupied both kids in a "mouse hunt" for toy mice (a game where kids visiting the shop find the toy mice then hide them for the next kids). Another employee put together an adorable mini cheese and cracker board for just $5. Another cheesemonger (been waiting a long time to use that word in a sentence) gave the kids funny cheese stickers (e.g., "Holy Cow"---a type of Swiss cheese). And the cheese I tried was delicious. I'll be back to sample more when I'm actually hungry!

Derek T.

Yelp
Excellent customer service and very knowledgable staff. Ian helped me try a few cheeses and I was hooked. He was very helpful and friendly. If you love cheese then I would reccomend coming to this place to get yourself some unique flavors.

Celeste K.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite spots to get a satisfying lunch. I get the Fromagio's Deli with tomato soup almost every time and my s/o and I are never disappointed. Staff are always friendly and helpful. If you're looking for something not too filling but "just right" with an explosion of flavor, I definitely recommend this place!

Jeanette D.

Yelp
This is on my list list for Saturday's after I hit the south farmers market. We haven't been in awhile and they had asked where we have been. Great selection of cheeses, caveman blue, is one of my top fives. Their salami, prosciutto, coppa, etc are wonderful. U can sample different cheeses and meats also. I usually pick a meat and have them pick out cheese that pairs well. Customer service has always been outstanding. Great little place. They also have lunch which consists of soups, sandwiches and salads.

Christopher B.

Yelp
Great new shop on the southside of anchorage. Great selection of artisan cheese, salumi, and chocolates. Very friendly staff. Worth the stop if you are looking for just the right cheese to go with that expensive bottle of wine you have waiting at home.

Webbie W.

Yelp
The first few times that I went into Fromagio's, I could not have been more excited and pleased. My boyfriend got me a few months of the cheese of the month club for Christmas two years ago. The communication with fromagio was great, the monthly emails about what was available, we stopped by when we were able to pick it up and it was either ready or they got it ready in a heartbeat. Every experience in 2012-2013 was great. Then my brother got us a gift certificate for a couple of months of the cheese of the month club last Christmas. The first we went in to get our cheese (mid-January) we were told that they had been too busy during the holiday season and were not having a cheese of the month club that month. The second time we went in (early-March) was around 4PM. There were two customers being waited on by the two people working and no one else in the store. When we told the gentleman working that we would like to pick up our cheese of the month club he told us he could not help us because we had not called in advance. Really? We never called before and he was able to allow the other people to taste several cheeses, select several cheeses, cut blocks the size they wanted and pay. We had pre-payed for a pound comprised of 3 - 4 cheese types and the two gentlemen working with the two other customers in the store were too busy to put together a pre-set package for us after they finished with those customers? Not to mention, they have a cheese of the month club and haven't organized any packages in advance for pick-up. The third time we called ahead (mid-March) as we were told to do. We called about 45 minutes before we planned to pick up our cheese. The gentleman hemmed and hawed over whether he could get it ready in time and consulted with his co-worker. Again, really? If you have five customers in line, place me as your sixth customer and get it done. It's only a pound of cheese! When we did go in, he was not overly pleasant. For $45/mo. for a pound of cheese and some single accoutrement I would hope for much better customer service. I have not received an email with instructions for pick-up since my brother got me this gift and don't know what the cheeses of the month are (and therefore whether I'd like to redeem my last month). I do get regular emails about cheese classes and new cheeses that are available. Not that helpful. After these experiences, we haven't even set foot in the door. Some day we'll call ahead (at least several hours) for our last $45 pound of cheese. Hopefully they can redeem themselves and we'll start going back more often and I can repost a much better review. After all, a true Vermont girl loves her artisan cheese (they even have the cheddar from my town).

Yelp
My husband and I have been meaning to stop in for quite a while now, but the whole holiday season was terribly busy for the both of us. So, imagine how thrilled we were to get a gift card for Christmas to this wonderful little gourmet cheese shop. We went and spent it and then some. We picked out three different cheeses: One a fantastically flavored cheddar - anything but plain. Another, a nutty, gouda-like cheese and the last a creamy soft-cheese (not brie) that was tangy and a little sweet. The staff was exceptionally helpful and we tasted at least a dozen different cheeses (always sample - they expect it!). My husband and I had a wonderful, European-style meal of cheese, meat, bread and wine (it's convenient Wine Styles in nearby). We'll definately be stopping in again -- SOON!

Yelp
I went to Yogurt Lounge, and noticed that the infamous cheese shop was across the parking lot. Having heard about it on Yelp, I thought I'd wander in and see what they had. Tiny store, but inviting and cute. The employee there was very helpful and friendly. He was quite educated about his cheeses, and let me know that I could sample whatever I wanted. Noting the price tags, I did not want to indulge much, but I couldn't resist the Stichelton -- which was AMAZING! I absolutely love cheese, but on a graduate student's budget, I can't always afford $22-54/lb for artisan cheese, but I truly appreciate a remarkable store in Anchorage; plus the great service was a nice perk. I ended up buying $5 worth of "mystery cheese" (which are random bits and ends cut from bigger loaves), and I think I'm about to die from the deliciousness overload. I don't care what ends I get; slapping them on a chunk of bread with a glass of wine on the side is absolutely divine. The cheese is just so much better than what you'd get at a traditional supermarket -- even Sagaya's offerings of cheese isn't as eclectic and varied as Fromagio's. I haven't tried the sandwiches yet, but I think I'll make a special treat trip here one of these days. I know I'll be back for mystery cheeses, for sure!

Yelp
This makes for a super fun date. Look at the art sample some cheese and take some home to pair with a wine. The staff is genuine and fun. The selection is average but quality is unbeatable.

Yelp
Look at their platters. I need to get over there. Rare place. Ps I expect more. Not the Alaskan pricing. Which is a farce because ordering in. Bulk is cheap.
