We booked this restaurant for dinner from December. On the same day of our reservation at 3:45 pm, we received a WhatsApp message saying they were looking forward to welcoming us at 9:30 - 9:45 pm, and informing us that we could choose between the 5 course menu, 6 course menu, or à la carte.
The message stated: “If possible, we recommend selecting one of the tasting menus in advance. However, if you prefer to decide upon arrival, that’s absolutely fine as well.”
However, the message did not provide any details about the variety or availability of dishes on the à la carte menu, which would have been helpful in setting expectations before our visit.
I replied that we would decide upon arrival and also mentioned that we were celebrating my daughter’s birthday, requesting if they could write “Happy Birthday” on the dessert, which I said would be greatly appreciated.
Upon arrival, we were seated at a nice table and started reviewing the menu. We chose to order à la carte so we could share the dishes. However, we were disappointed to find that some of the main dishes were already sold out, including the vegetarian steak, which we were looking forward to trying. Most of the remaining options were mushroom based dishes, as it left very limited choices.
Starters:
- Naan with dukkah and olive oil — 4/5
(Although it was supposed to be served first, it arrived later than expected.)
- Tempeh “foie gras” with bread — 4.3/5
- Morel mushrooms — 5/5
The best mushroom dish we’ve ever had.
- Carrot textures — 3/5
( Creative presentation, but the raw carrots made part of the dish less enjoyable).
Main dishes:
- Coral enoki — 2.5/5
(Too oily, chewy, and felt more as a side dish)
- Grilled lion’s mane 3.5/5
Dessert:
- Chocolate mousse with summer truffles — 5/5
I asked again if they could write “Happy Birthday” on the dessert or at least put a candle, but unfortunately this was not done. Instead, they offered only a small quarter glass of kombucha to my daughter, which felt inappropriate and disappointing
