A friend and I met here as a halfway mark between our homes(Charlotte NC to Columbia SC) to have dinner. Due to Hurricane Helene, His power was out and needed to get his homework done for his college course. I just wanted to meet for dinner because I was not affected in that way. Upon arrival, it was a nice quaint family-owned restaurant. In a small town where seemingly everybody knew everybody based on the conversations that were being had. For me it was too cold. Ceiling fans blowing air on food made the food cold fast. I ordered a garden salad, steamed cabbage, and cucumbers in Italian dressing. My friend ordered the flounder plate (which is nowhere on the menu But was stated to have coleslaw that never came). He said it was great. I did not like the cabbage. I've never had soggy steamed cabbage marinated in some type of oil. I added the soggy cucumbers to the salad which contained cheese, lettuce, a spot of tomatoes, shredded carrots and whole beets. As my friend completed his homework, I was grateful that he was able to use their power to charge his computer in order to do his homework. Of course in this family-owned establishment there is no Wi-Fi but I had my hotspot so it all worked out. The servers were nice and Grace was shown. We did not get dessert before. I'm only eating fruits and vegetables at this time so I cannot post on that. If I was eating southern food at the time I'm sure it would have been a great option for me. Again, we just googled the place to meet in between. That was not a chained restaurant. I'm sure it would have been more enjoyable had I not been sitting directly under a ceiling fan freezing. We arrived at 6:00 p.m. And the restaurant closes at 8:00 so maybe the freshness of the food would have been better had we arrived earlier.

Google
Beautiful building, very friendly waitresses, super helpful and answered our questions. Their sweet tea is amazing!!! Delicious fried chicken and squash, hush puppies and cabbage. Huge portions and very reasonably priced. The chess pies were great too. My only sight disappointment was I think they use margarine, not butter. But maybe that is a southern thing.

Google
The food is always Good ! My visit today was 4-stars …the bake chicken was delicious but the side portions are so small ! We had to call the wait over to re-full our drinks and the atmosphere was tight in the main dining room. My To-Go cheeseburger plate the fries was so skimpy😳 and I only had 1 piece of fish on my other plate😮

I like the ambience. Old and open. Ladies running the dining room were polite, easy going and run almost off their feet. Food was home made and priced agreeably.

Google
Amazing homestyle comfort food at affordable prices! I had fried chicken breast, macaroni, and fried green tomatoes. My bf had the fried flounder W fried squash and really liked it too. Best food l've had in quite a while. The staff were very cordial and accommodating; very clean establishment and HUGE BROWNIES! The only reason why I gave 4 stars for atmosphere is that there was no music or artwork, but it was a pleasant environment.

Google
Just stopped in for lunch on a long drive and was looking for comfort food. This place did not disappoint. The steamed cabbage was amazing. Flounder fried perfectly. Super homey feel. Nice little hole in the wall spot!

My boyfriend and I stopped here about a week ago passing through on our way to Florida and we were so glad we made the stop! The food was so delicious!! The restaurant staff was very friendly. We both devoured our plates, I've never had food at a restaurant that tasted like true home cooking. It was like going to grandma's house and having her cook for you, come to this restaurant if you want food made with love! We had to wait a little bit for our cornbread to come fresh out the oven but it was TOTALLY worth the wait! You will not be disappointed. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely be back, if you're looking for somewhere to eat with great southern homestyle cooking then come here!

Yelp
This restaurant was the perfect stop traveling on Interstate 77. Just below Rock Hill. I took a chance on this restaurant years ago, and it was exactly what I was looking for: delicious Southern dishes, homemade food with vegetables, and local ownership. I always stop on my way to Charleston beach and back.

Yelp
This place was recommended by a friend. The food was good! My favorite was the fried chicken. The meat moist and tender, the skin was seasoned well and crispy. The Mac and cheese were good but could use more cheese. The green beans were good also. The service was pretty good. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. The atmosphere feels like being at your grandmother house. It gives a warm and comfortable feeling. Looking forward to going back there to try something different.

Yelp
Visited this restaurant while I was in the area and was pleased to see such good reviews on Yelp. It resembles an old house - not sure if it was or not, but it has an old charming vibe. We were seated in a back dining room and servers quickly attended to us. I ordered the fried flounder with Mac and cheese and fried green tomatoes. The sides were just okay but the flounder was really good. I shared my plate with my mom who ordered the pulled pork plate. That dish was ok but the flounder was definitely a better choice. The staff was friendly and it seems to be a popular restaurant since customers were steady coming and going. Location is great, just off the highway, and the prices are reasonable. Just don't expect anything fancy - paper menus you'll receive have definitely been around for awhile, the furniture is old and some mismatch too. I didn't mind this as much and I wouldn't be opposed to returning again.

Yelp
Best little stop on our trip to NC! Home made cooking and the sweetest little ambience! We had the hamburger steak with lovely sides, as well as the fried chicken! So so good and the brownie was HUGE!! Great quick stop on a long drive!

Yelp
We stopped here as a last minute decision on our way home from Charlotte. It was a great choice! The food is homemade, Southern deliciousness with huge portions.

Kennedy H.

Yelp
Delicious food and such a cute restaurant! We stopped in during a road trip and it was great! I got the roast beef, very tender and flavorful.
google avatar

Yelp
The food is homemade perfection! Service was friendly and efficient and made us feel welcome!! Highly recommend!

Yelp
This restaurant is a hidden gem! The food was so delicious here! Didn't know what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised. Great tasting food. I had the baked chicken with Mac and cheese and mashed potatoes and gravy. Everyone in my party enjoyed their food as well. The wait staff was on point, friendly and didn't get anyone's order mixed up. We had a large party of more than 20 adults and children. No one complained. Must visit.

Yelp
If you are looking for a fabulous place to dine with family and friends please try this restaurant.

Yelp
Delicious!! If you have not tried this southern staple, you need to asap! The food, service, and atmosphere were all top notch. The simple decor is all that is needed in this gem of a restaurant. The soul filling cuisine is the star of the show. Everything tastes like it was cooked in your southern grandmother's kitchen. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Every time here is a home run. Quiet place just off I 77. Love the food, people, and especially the corn bread. Just put something secret and won't tell me what. Stop in. You'll love it.

Yelp
This place has been in my bucket list since 2014 from a recommendation from my old coworker, Connie, who has family in the region and has visited this restaurant on numerous occasions. She knew I was moving to Charlotte and recommended that I frequent this establishment!! Well, I finally got out here today and it was worth the wait y'all!!! My daughter and I loved our food! My daughter has the pork chops with Mac & cheese and mashed potatoes with a biscuit, sweet tea and a brownie! I had the 3 vegetable plate and chose the steamed cabbage, collard greens and Mac and cheese, also got a side of fried green tomatoes, sweet tea and pecan pie! All delicious!!! Staff is very nice, southern hospitality, patrons were all friendly and very homey vibe inside! Bathroom is clean. You pay at the register when you finish. Desserts are in the case, pick which one you want. Highly recommend to anyone in the area!!!

Yelp
I was really looking forward to loving the food but I ended up loving the service better. I ordered the roast beef, with lime beans and yams. My girlfriend ordered the fried chicken, greens and yams. We both ordered the cornbread. Needless to say for soul food...it was a bit lackluster for me. The roast beef was delicious and the lime beans yummy but the yams tasted like they came out a can and the cornbread was undercooked. We asked for the cornbread to be cooked longer and they bought us a whole new piece. My girlfriends chicken looked so crisp and pretty...she said the greens where amazing and she agreed with me that the yams tasted like it came from a can and green beans. The best part was the service...the ladies that ran the dining room where so sweet and southern you just wanted to hug them. The young man that bought our food playfully walked past our table and can back. I would come back just for the service alone. Our glasses were always full and they asked us often how were doing and smiled alot. I love it when you are made to feel at home

Yelp
Friendly and efficient service, fine southern food. Chicken and dumplings were great- good portion. Fried green tomatoes were the best I have ever had- with homemade ranch. Sweet potato casserole was nice and sweet!
google avatar

Devin T.

Yelp
The service was fast and we got seated right away on the Friday night. The food was good, I got the BBQ plate with spicy BBQ sauce. The inside looks like an old house however it is quite loud.

Yelp
Forever my favorite Southern restaurant. They have been sticking to the script for years now with the same recipes and there is good reason for it. I haven't discovered a place anywhere with better cornbread or fried green tomatoes!! I grew up in Richburg, but I will always make the trip and I also refer pretty much every person I know. Growing up, we would have them cater our birthday parties and the Mac and cheese and barbecue was probably the biggest hit. Their food is ready quickly, always fresh, and extremely flavorful! My favorites are the baked chicken (it falls off the bone), fried pork chops (perfectly crispy), Mac and cheese, fried green tomatoes (not available on Sundays), and cabbage. You really can't go wrong with anything you get there!! Do yourself a favor and give the Front Porch a try! You will not regret it.

Gabe S.

Yelp
Ran across this place in my travels and the unique decor made me want to eat there. Fantastic meal at a great price. I plan to go back while I'm still on this trip. Really friendly staff. Don't drive past this place, go eat there!

Yelp
Awesome little southern cooking spot, we had some delicious fried chicken and the sides and specials change daily, definitely worth stopping by if you have a craving for some good southern home cooking. Service was helpful and quick and the waitstaff were friendly! Highly recommend!

Yelp
On our way to Charlotte we stopped by The Front Porch for dinner and enjoyed it! The staff are friendly and the food was great. My wife and I ordered the fried chicken with sides. The chicken was nicely seasoned and came out fresh. What a treat!! Their sweet tea was excellent as well. The restaurants is conveniently located right off the highway and had ample parking. The kids enjoyed it and the menu offered something for everyone even for the picky eaters. If your traveling and want a nice place to relax/enjoy a good meal, look no further. We will define my come back if you pass by next time. Goof food, friendly staff, and a cute house like atmosphere, they have it all. Give them a try and let me us know your thoughts.

Yelp
Wonderful taste ! All the food was seasoned well. Just like grandma's place inside and out! Must stop by if you are in the area.

Yelp
This is a pretty typical local food joint. The food is made to order, and the menu items are mostly regional dishes like fried chicken. The prices and quantity are good, but the food tasted about midrange. I got the fried chicken (of course) and it was pretty good. What really caught my eye was the long list of delicious pies and cakes on the wall. I wish I'd had room to try some. Service was great, and everyone was super nice. We stopped in on the way home from the mountains.

Yelp
We stopped here on our drive to Charleston. It's right off the highway and it is a super cute old house with a front porch. Family-run business with about 3-4 generations working there. Friendly, down-to-earth, prompt service awaits you along with authentic and delicious southern food. Everything was to die for! I had the white meat fried chicken with broccoli casserole, Mac n cheese. Green beans and cornbread- perfection. Some of my family ordered the beef tips and loved it. Cannot recommend this place enough!!
google avatar

Jason H.

Yelp
Not that great, service was good, but food wasn't. Open Roast Beef was rancid tasting and had to be sent back Burger was nothing special BBQ plate was tasteless Onion rings were tempura battered and delicious
google avatar

Albert C.

Yelp
Great food but service was struggling. I think they were short handed but it was pretty bad food was great.
google avatar

Erika M.

Yelp
They were only accepting carryout orders due to the pandemic. So, I called in my order and it was hot and ready when I arrived to pick it up. The woman at the front door greeted me as I came in and immediately got my order. It was very dim and all of the chairs were on top of the tables to remind customers they are not open for dine-in. I had the Fried Pork Chops, fried green tomatoes, cabbage and baked chicken. Everything was excellent! Exactly what I expected for a meal from the South, being from up North. There is a large parking lot, so that wasn't a problem. Cant wait to try them for a dine in experience when I come back to visit.
google avatar

Carly H.

Yelp
Flavorful home cooking at a very reasonable price. I had the fried chicken, and it didn't disappoint. I think the fried green tomatoes were the best part, with crispy breading vs the sometimes soggy situation that sometimes unfolds with FGT's. The Mac and cheese was a little (lot) heavy on the butter, but it was delicious. Butter beans and new potatoes from the specials menu were both good too. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here, but definitely the best among competition in the area. Service was fabulous and food came out in a timely manner. This was probably a 3.5 star experience for me but the impulse brownie I bought at the register was a six star experience and bumped my rating to a 4. EVEN IF YIU ARENT HUNGRY, STOP IN JUST FOR THE BROWNIE. I don't think it's something they heavily promote, but they should. It's a good 6 x 6 inches and at least an inch thick. Super light and cakey but very moist and rich at the same time. Best brownie I've had in at least five years. Maybe longer.

Erin N.

Yelp
What a great, local stop off the interstate. Our family of four tried the pork chops, BBQ plate, fried chicken and all the other southern fixins' Wonderful people and great atmosphere!
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
Staggeringly below average! Really, exceptionally almost decent food.By the looks of the place, I expected my turkey sandwich to be on cold white bread with only a hint of turkey and smattering of iceberg lettuce, and wow! this place didn't disappoint. I'm amazed that they can make a sandwich of this quality in only 50 minutes. And the staff make it look easy, like they're not even trying. Highly don't recommend.

Trish M.

Yelp
Walked in with my husband and two boys. Took forever for service. The place was silent and uncomfortable. Everyone staring and sitting together in one room. Took forever to pay for my meal. Ignored for a long time. Food was horrible. I will never go back. I thought I'd give it a try since it seemed like a unique place. I was passing through from SC to Charlotte. It felt cold and dreary there.

Carla K.

Yelp
Amazing fried chicken! And the biscuits and corn bread are fabulous too! Definitely worth the visit. When we drive down to visit our son, we go an hour out of our way to eat here. You really have to try it! And the staff is so friendly. Highly recommend!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing Southern comfort food! Choose 1 meat plus 3 sides and a biscuit or cornbread for only $8.99! Will route future Southern trips to stop here! Lovely Lady, Libby, and Husband Joe have been serving up good food for 30 years. Staffed by Friendly Folks, all Family and served with smiles. If you leave here hungry, it is your fault! Go here for Sunday dinner every day but Monday. Yes they do take 1 well deserved day off We shall return!
google avatar

Julie O.

Yelp
Delicious food, generous portions, very friendly staff. Will go back if we are in the area again!

Karen W.

Yelp
Hubby had Friday Ed pork chops, cornbread , green beans & macaroni & cheese. I had open faced roast beef, coleslaw & lemon chess pie. Good down home cooking & all good
google avatar

Mark H.

Yelp
If you are looking for a break from chain restaurants and fast food, this is a great choice. Nothing fancy, at all, but good southern-style food that tastes like grandma made it. We tried fried chicken, roast beef, and beef tips in gravy. All three meals were very good. Comes with three sides plus biscuits or cornbread. Both bread choices were great. The sides we sampled were mashed potatoes, Mac & cheese, limas, and green beans. All were very good. Kids meal is pictured and is enough food for most folks. The full dinner plates are 3 pieces plus 3 sides.
google avatar

Shaunna W.

Yelp
I had the fried chicken dark, broccoli casserole, steamed cabbage and green beans! It was all very good. I had to have a piece of sweet potato pie for the road! I will be back the next time I am up this way
google avatar

Timothy B.

Yelp
Came in with a party of 10 from out of town. Waited over an hour for the whole table to get food. None of the food orders were correct. Food was cold on half the orders. We had to go ask for the rest of the food after waiting 45 min. By the time the 2nd the last plate came out. They came and told use there were out of chicken. And the last person is going without food. Cashier then angrily asked if we were upset that all the food didn't come out. Was not a good experience. Cashier was not a pleasant person. Wait staff was slow.
google avatar

Megan J.

Yelp
Omg this place is amazing. The fried Green tomato appetizer was so delicious. The fried chicken was sooooo good too. The Mac and cheese is homemade and with Bread crumbs. It's such good Mac and cheese. Cornbread was amazing so was the egg custard and pecan pie. I can't tell you how great this was. It is exactly what you envision when you hear soul food. I live in Charlotte but ill probably make the 40 mile Drive for more. And the service was EXCELLENT
google avatar

Bill P.

Yelp
Great little discovery off the highway. Crispy, nicely seasoned fried chicken. Green beans complemented the chicken. Definitely try the pecan pie. I drank a gallon of the sweet tea: a treat for me when I travel down south. The service was friendly and it had a relaxed country feel.
google avatar

Edward B.

Yelp
An old fashioned southern restaurant that you will find a room full of 50 plus year old people setting and eating dinner! I haven't found anything on the menu I don't like but I tend to favor the barbecue plate! The service is ok they tend to hire younger people who seem to have hard time focusing on what they should be doing!
google avatar

Brother S.

Yelp
Good, but not great. Staff was friendly and fast. I ordered flounder. It was fried to death. The breading was so heavy I ended up breaking it all off and just eating the fish. The pickled beets and green beans were good.
google avatar

Shari F.

Yelp
This was our first trip and we loved it! The service was friendly and the food was excellent!!! Felt just like eatin' at Grandma's House!
google avatar

Ronnie Y.

Yelp
Ordered the beef tips, brown rice, steamed cabbage, corn bread, sweet tea, and a Sprite soda. Everything tasted good. The 2 problems i had was that my beef tips werent hot and the Sprite was flat. The Sprite was exchanged for a tea with a smile and I simply asked that the beef tips be microwaved for a couple of minutes. The service was good and my needs were taken care of with a smile. Will I come back? Ofcourse I will. I was here around 14:00 and I found that this is a nice quiet place. The wooden floors give it that homely feeling. This place could have easily been 4 stars if I didnt have the minor issue with my food and drink.
google avatar

Tom H.

Yelp
Down home cooking, the most friendly staff. Had the country steak w/ a side thigh. Both were excellent. Fried chicken is their specialty, and for good reason. Cole slaw side was fresh and tasty. Exactly what we were looking for. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Melissa G.

Yelp
True southern cooking at its finest. From the sweet tea to buttermilk biscuits, this restaurant serves up happy smiles. Fried chicken, ham, meatloaf, liver and onions are a few of the meat selections. Garden vegetables are seasoned just right, not over done. And of course there's the macaroni and cheese. I would eat here everyday if I could. Oh and if southern cooking isn't your thing, there's plenty of salads on the menu. It really doesn't get better than the Front Porch. Hospitality is 100%!
google avatar

Chrisie L.

Yelp
This place has a home feeling. Seems to be family owned with moms cooking. Almost grandmas cooking but not quite. We had the fried pork chops which were delicious! They had just the right amount of seasoning and cooked perfectly. The mashed potatoes and gravy were very good, they didn't even need salt or pepper. The Mac and cheese was pretty good too. For dessert we the peach cobbler and it was yummy! We would definitely eat here again if we're in town again!
google avatar

Sonya H.

Yelp
We were looking for country food after church. Great place to eat. Beef tips had more fat on them than I prefer, but overall a good flavor. Lima beans and broccoli casserole were the best. A must try on a Sunday.
google avatar

Lynn L.

Yelp
This was good home cooking.the staff was super friendly and the food was well seasoned. The meat on my baked chicken was falling off the bone tender. Amazing! The mac and cheese want to shabby either. I would stop back by if I was in the area.

joe h.

Yelp
Skip it unless you have a spare hour to wait around as they take their time deciding when to put your small to-go order of sandwiches together. was there any communication or apologies about the wait? LOL no. my sandwich was approaching Fyre Festival levels of weak with one (1) turkey slice and a pale ration of lettuce and tomato. the worst crime: i'm still hungry. it's a sad day in Lunchville...
google avatar

Austin D.

Yelp
Awesome fried chicken, but the sides are better. Probs are great, food is inexpensive, service is fast.
