"This off-the-beaten-path restaurant and bar has a rotating list of fresh summer cocktails in mason jars, like the lavender vanilla bourbon-ade with vanilla bean simple syrup and lavender bitters. The kitchen, on the other hand, is handling light wedge salads and heartier meals like chicken and dumplings and fish and chips." - Rachel Pinsky

Google
What a gem of a find! Great service, quality food, generous portions, and a nice atmosphere. They also have outdoor seating. Families are welcome. They offer a great selection of menu items from appetizers such as smothered fries, large salads, burgers, sandwiches, steaks, pasta dishes, and desserts. Everyone enjoyed their meals....fish and chips, Ruben sandwich, brisket sandwich, cheese burgers, chicken and dumplings, onion rings, brownie dessert, creme brule, and bread pudding. We will be back! Great job!

First time here. Halibut tacos were delicious. Cocktail perfectly balanced. Lunch was delicious today too

Google
Even better dining experience than before. House lighting was a bit brighter, enabling one to really see, and appreciate the numerous, delicious food items, and drinks. Seafood Alfredo was awesome!

Google
Everything was great! Service, food, price, atmosphere, all good! Fresh flowers on the tables was a nice touch. There are vegetarian options and gluten free options. There's plenty of outdoor seating, too! Even a selfie wall. You need to try this place. There's a full bar with house cocktails, as well.

Google
My drink was really good (lime in the coconut?) and my friend enjoyed her margarita. She got the shrimp po boy and that was tasty, I got the happy hour sliders and acouple tacos. The chef taco, which was brisket that day, was WAY too salty. Everything else tasted pretty good. I would def recommend this place for a drink and a little bite.

Google
We were in the area and decided to find a place to get lunch. Wow. Talk about great luck. We were a bit skeptical walking up (you go through two doors to get in) but the food and service were awesome. It was a great value and we experienced some of the best service we've ever had. This place is definitely on the short list. Next time it won't be just because we're in the area.

Yelp
This is a pleasantly surprising spot! Food was great and so much variety! Great cocktail menu, and the service was friendly and prompt.

Yelp
I love Frontier. They have high waiting food and the wait staff has always been really nice. They have a real chicken sandwich made with real chicken breast, not the food service type with fake grill marks on one side. The chicken and dumplings are a favorite of mine, especially in the cooler months. Yum! Ambiance is good though it can get a bit noisy if it's full or there are big tables sat.

Yelp
Service... both girls very nice Nachos are great... next time we'd get it either no black olives Wedge salad... yummy Reuben... full of pastrami.. the red pepper added some spice Chicken club... delicious Fries... were fresh and delicious

Yelp
A little off the beaten path spot that is super fun and really good food. They have happy hour every day 3 to 6. Beers and cocktails at a great price. Five dollars. I enjoyed a vodka cranberry. The service is very prompt and friendly We each started off with a wedge salad from the happy hour menu. Man it was so delicious! Tons of tasty bacon, Lardon. A huge wedge of iceberg. Lots of cheese and a tasty creamy dressing. This was a huge win for me. We tried that side pasta plate. Penne, pasta, and an Alfredo sauce. Just the right portion for a happy hour treat. Super creamy and delicious. Definitely coming back to this spot to try some other good eats They have a parking lot, so that was not an issue. Not sure how I missed the spot before but now I know!

Yelp
Food is great! We had the fried oysters, wedge salad, beet salad, brisket sandwich, shrimp pesto pasta, and kids mac & cheese. Everything was delicious. Super impressed with the kids mac & cheese! Cocktails were on point! Service was okay but it was a busy Friday night. Made a reservation but had to wait for a table anyways due to the already full restaurant. Kind of on the loud side since it's one large open room but definitely still easy to talk at the table. Love the casual vibe and outdoor area in the warmer months!

Yelp
A friend and I found ourselves in Hazel Dell yesterday. A quick search of lunch options led us to the Frontier.we were both happy with the outcome. Frontier is a friendly place, the kind of place where even though the servers know the names of the locals, they welcome strangers in with open arms. The menu is full of good, home cooked, real food. And the bar serves up delicious drinks with generous pours. My friend went with a cheeseburger and onion rings. The burger was thick, well cooked, dripping with cheddar. She loved the onion rings. They were light and airy, not greasy. And big. When I saw chicken and dumplings on the menu I knew what I had to order.a childhood favorite, its hard to find them these days. I make a pretty good version myself, but because they are time and labor intensive, not very often. The Frontier's version was thick, creamy (almost too much so), with tender chicken slices throughout. The dumplings are peppery, small, and kind of dense chewy rather than fluffy, but I finished them off. I also had a blueberry martini which had real berries in it bit was pretty kick ass and not overly sweet. I forgot to take pictures until we were about to leave so you'll have to go there yourself to see your choices. It's worth the drive. frontierpublichousevancouver.com

Yelp
The food was good intentions. Sounds good but quality is not fresh and very overpriced. Not bad just underwhelming its not like it would be right across the bridge. Portland prices and Vancouver spices! Ots the best for what around here.

janet B.

Yelp
We came for lunch with a large group. The waitress was all alone and clearly very frustrated. The food was delicious and there were so many options. As busy as it was the waitress seemed to be keeping up for the most part, just not smiling or happy about it.

Maike J.

Yelp
Visiting from Chicago and absolutely BLOWN AWAY by this gem! Superb food and spectacular cocktail menu! Friendly, fast, fresh and delicious! Highly recommend!

Walter A.

Yelp
Went here for first time today and got their once a month Prime Rib dinner. The tempura appetizer was very good as was the prime rib dinner. Service was excellent. I know we will be returning again in near future.

Jo R.

Yelp
Our food (wedge Salads) were great once it arrived at our table. Seemed to take quite a while but worth the wait.

Sara V.

Yelp
Excellent eating experience at the Frontier Public House. The food tasted very fresh and wasn't super oily. My partner got the Reuben and it tasted like they made the pastrami there. Other places, it tastes like old deli meat. I got the burger without cheese since they only had Colby Jack and cheddar. I usually prefer Swiss on my burgers and they didn't have that option - which is fine! My water was filled up frequently and the bathroom was very clean. My only gripe was the side soup I got (to replace my fries) was very salty.

Robert K.

Yelp
Came in around 5:30pm on a Friday evening. We got a seat at one of the long tables by the bar. Man those stools they you sit on there are way uncomfortable. I left there about 15 mins ago and my ass and back still hurt. She got the short ribs. They call them short ribs like the big beefs ribs but they are not. They are flank style ribs not beef short ribs. Oh well, that's mis advertising. She did it really like the ribs and neither did my friend. She did like the brussel sprouts and the mashed potatoes that came with it. I ordered a salad with my Ruben and ended up getting tater tots. I had to remind the waitress that I needed my salad. Plus, the waitress was kind of impatient when we sat down wanting to take our drink orders right away when we had not even had a chance to look at the beer menu. Omg the beer menu does not even tell you where the beers come from it just says IPA. Lol My Ruben had hot red peppers on it. Weird. Not much meat and tons of sour kraut. Plus, the bread on the bottom was soggy. Oh well, that place got packed. $64.00 for two for dinner with one beer each. Might not be back.

Trisha L.

Yelp
We were very happy with our visit to Frontier Public House! We both ordered burgers - 1/2 lb hand pressed burger - so delicious and beyond filling! Mine was plain and - with cheese and bacon added. Hubby got his sans cheese plus bacon. He upgraded to onion rings and I upgraded to the smothered fries. Nice drink menu and some lovely mocktail options. Interior is cute and our server was awesome! You can make reservations online if you want to make sure it get a table.

Sherri A.

Yelp
The service was fantastic and kind ! Bring your appetite if you ordered what I got!!!!! Chicken dumplings!!!! Wow Great atmosphere with lovely lighting! You can't go wrong Peace be with you Sherri Annkin

Yelp
Yeah, ambience is very country style - very apropos for Vancouver Washington. The service was excellent and the food was delicious.I especially liked the po' boy which originally I tried in Louisiana. So I'm happy to see po' boys out here as well.

Bailey N.

Yelp
Frontier has quickly become a favorite for us. The staff are always friendly and the food is consistently delicious. Our favorites are the blackened chicken Alfredo, the chicken and dumplings, the fish and chips, and the nachos. There's something for everyone and it's comfortable enough for a casual bite or a date. Love this place :)

Ryan B.

Yelp
This place has decent food I will say. It's kind of geared up for the younger if you will yuppie crowd in downtown Vancouver, the food was decent and I will probably go back there again a little on the spending side.

Holly C.

Yelp
We came in for a late lunch on Friday. There were plenty of open tables and we were seated right away. They had a great list of drinks, alcoholic and non. My husband ordered a mango habanero drink which he liked. I had the non-alcoholic strawberry rosemary shrub. My kids ordered a shirley temple and apple juice. All around the drinks were good tasting and a good size. For food we ordered the nachos, fish and chips, kids burger, and kids grilled cheese. The nachos were so yummy and piled high with toppings. The fish and chips were good too. My youngest was a bit sad about the size of his hamburger ( it was a bit small) but he said it was tasty. My oldest had grilled cheese and tater tots. We all agree that the tater tots were really good. The food was really good and we found that it was a very good value. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a place to eat in the area.

Yelp
Greetings, First visit since Marion bade us adieu... Menu is a great mash-up of traditional Frontier fare and Tommy O's favorites moved forty-odd blocks up the street. Our Frontier-seasoned party of five dined indoors given the evening heat. Drinks were de rigueur with the Huckle Berry Drop, Old Fashioned, Wines, and Coors on tap. I formerly enjoyed Rainier draft beer inasmuch as it reminded me of the olden days when the venue was know as "Hideaway Tavern," and I was drinking on what Jimmy Buffet described as, "A fake I.D." Food was all yummy. Beet/Goat Cheese salads hit the spot, as did the onion rings, and pork quesadillas. Entrees included Blackened Halibut Tacos, Chicken and Dumplings, and Shrimp Pesto Pasta. Brianna was our cheerful, thoroughly professional server who was jolly throuhgout our evening's experience. Frontier Public House has clearly undergone a transition in leadership, and the new paradigm serves to reunite the Tommy O's tradition with a Westside location. Best wishes for every success. Sincerely, Andrew & Donna Gregg.

Yelp
I think the food is great. Best fish and chips in town and the chicken and dumplings is off the charts. It's all good.

Bridget D.

Yelp
Excellent service and amazing food. I always enjoy the chicken and dumplings and the onion rings are delicious.

Linda R.

Yelp
Such great food! I have never eaten anything that wasn't absolutely delicious! The prices are very reasonable. The fish and chips are probably the best I've ever had!

Jason C.

Yelp
3 out of 5 stars is average and that's what Frontier public house was. Nothing about frontier was negative. Decent food, decent service, decent ambiance.

Cathlin R.

Yelp
Wonderful food. The Pulled Pork Sandwich was delicious. The fries are homemade. Great service; friendly and helpful. It's decorated very cute.

Kelly R.

Yelp
Frontier Public House has been one of my favorite local restaurants until today. I was disappointed in how run down it looks inside and the food. We ordered the smothered French fries, chicken and smoking's and fish and chips. The smothered fries were not smothered in gravy but more cheese, the chicken and dumplings were more like a chicken and dumpling soup. Although the fish and chips were good. We hoped they still served their chicharrones which were great. However, they no longer serve them. The seats have rips and the walls need painting. Would we go back? Not sure

Ashley A.

Yelp
Delicious food and great service. I really enjoyed the smothered fries. I can't wait to try their sushi!

Joey D.

Yelp
So I have been here many times before. And the wait can be longer then most places around town, but today was ridiculous. We walked in at noon, party of 6. Seated almost right away. From sit-down to food was over an hour. And it was not like we had hard dishes, 2 salads, Ruben, po boy with only 3 shrimp, BLT and a club, Like nothing really needed to be "cooked", just assembled, but still took an hour. Another issue was people who were sat after us, had their orders taken before us and were served before us (a group of 6 came in right after us). Not just one table, but several. Now time for checkout. Again, more tables that came in after us were attended to first. From the time we walked in to the time we walked out it was 2 full hours. They were busy but not full capacity busy. #1 the owner / Management total fail to you. For this to be as bad as it was I am assuming it was (mostly) a staffing issue. Get these people some HELP! #2 Servers - Not one check in on us, not one, "sorry for the wait", we only received one water refill the whole time, food dropped, then bill. Nothing else. In addition we could hear & see you favoring regulars over us. 2 tables were seated well after we had ordered and you took their order, brought their food and had their bills before we even got our food. After we were noticeably upset, when we finally got our bills we were told we got a discount for the trouble, but there was no discount found. We did nothing wrong. We were overly polite and kind. We beat the other group of 6 in fair in square. We parked and walked in and they drove up to the door and dropped people off. I am just appalled at the horrible treatment we received. I have never left such a small tip. And the tip I left was for the cooks. The food was great. But every other aspect of this visit was a total fail.

Linda F.

Yelp
This place is outstanding! It was our first time here and the food was so fresh and our server Amy was just a sweetheart. The atmosphere wasn't to loud and the staff really nailed it on food preparation. We'll definitely be coming back to Frontiers for a follow up!

Dayna M.

Yelp
Delicious food and drinks, just spendy. Worth it to do happy hour. Great selection of drinks. Does get busy!

Bree E.

Yelp
The food and atmosphere is great! Always a friendly group. Very casual. Would be tough with a big group.

Roxy R.

Yelp
Partner and I stopped by to try a few cocktails. I was told they make a delicious Old Fashion, and they do! Bulleit Rye, 2 bitters, and a burnt lemon twist that gives this drink such a delicious toasted finish. Pro tip: mash your cherries and your drink will sweeten perfectly!! We also had the Vantucky - Four Roses bourbon, fresh lime, and ginger beer. Fantastic!! My guy, who doesn't like ginger much at all and was ver hesitant to try a mule of any kind, really liked it! They have seating outdoors, which was great until the sun went down and it got chilly lol. We went inside and finished our drinks, admiring the intimate atmosphere and loving the date nighty vibe :) service was good too, we will be back and will try some foods next time!

Sara M.

Yelp
Awesome service, diverse menu, food is great, drink menu is super interesting, kid friendly. We love this place.

Penny C.

Yelp
I was looking for something different for lunch today, tried FPH for the first time, it will definitely be my LAST. Overpriced pasta, zero flavor, almost no sauce, very dry. Ordered to go, so didn't know until it was too late and no time to go back to complain or have it replaced...so essentially $20 for $0.15 worth of bland cooked pasta, ugh! :( I don't recommend FPH to anyone.

Susan I.

Yelp
Great food and service with a smile nice atmosphere. Recommended to All. An experience you will love and share with others.

Ann N.

Yelp
We came upon this hidden jewel by accident and what a find! Ample parking.. easy on and off I5 but would never hear it.. atmosphere comfortable and nice. Dining seating away from bar seating area. Staff very cordial and attentive. Nice and flavorful cocktail offerings. Food was excellent! I can't emphasize that enough. Healthy portions and a good variety of main courses to choose from in addition to burgers, sandwiches and salads. I had the chicken and dumplings which was so flavorful and a good portion of chicken along with perfect dumplings. My husband had the blackened chicken Alfredo that's was delicious as well. The steaks looked delicious and the crème brûlée snd blueberry raspberry crisp super yummy.. like I'd make at home. Will certainly be returning. So glad the original place we intended to go to was closed and we happened upon such a great place!

Carol S.

Yelp
This place has been on my list for a while and I was excited to finally try it for lunch today. The staff was very friendly and attentive! The space is beautiful and clean! However... I had the Brothers Cascadia IPA and it tasted like it was a keg that's been sitting for too long. I frequent their brewery and feel bad that this is how their beer is being represented. Secondly, I ordered the cream corn quesadilla and was beyond bummed! No where on the menu does it mention cilantro and it came out smothered in cilantro ... the server was so lovely and had it remade for me. But this menu it's easy still so disappointing. It was a small corn tortilla quesadilla folded like a taco with what seemed like more than a can or corn on top. I LOVE cheese and corn... but there is a limit. The portion of corn to quesadilla made no sense and It felt like I was eating something I threw together after a late night out :/ I do think I'll be back. I live that they have a new menu seasonally. I just hope they order and keep their beer fresh and I'll avoid ordering items I haven't seen pictures of previously .

Tanya L.

Yelp
Great food and cool ambiance! The staff are so kind! I love the salads and the burgers.

Martin F.

Yelp
Don't, I repeat, do not order fried food for takeout. It's like Charlie Brown trusting Lucy to hold the football for the kick. You will always think it's going to work out this time and you will be disappointed every time I ordered the shrimp Po-Boy with fries (number one son ordered the Ruben.) The wife ordered the onion rings. I was quoted 20-25 minutes, destined to beat the curse, I was there in 11 minutes and yet the food was already sitting out out. I checked the fries and they were cold and stale. I took back the box with the Po-Boy and fries requesting fresh fries. About five minutes later I was given a box of fresh, overcooked fries and handed back my now cold Po-Boy sandwich. I thought cut my losses and get the rest back to the hungry hordes as quickly as I could. Much to my dismay, there were about half the shrimp that I thought was appropriate. Beyond lack of shrimps, the ones I had were burnt. The onion rings were cold if course. The highlight, the Ruben was apparently pretty tasty, even if the tater tots that came with it were cold. Of the $40 spent, I would estimate $30 was a write-off. Hopefully I won't let unbridled optimism carry me away again.

Jennifer W.

Yelp
Ordered thru Post mates - wanting to try a local place we hadn't before. Their menu looked interesting...selected Fish & Chips. Fries were crispy but fish wasn't - not crispy and not too mushy but close. Coleslaw had an interesting twist - cilantro. Tarter sauce had a lot of "dill" to it. The sweet corn quesadilla was interesting. The smothered fries and gravy was slightly disappointing. Maybe it would have been better being delivered directly from kitchen to the table. It's worth a shot regardless.

Ashley F.

Yelp
We only had the nachos but they were delicious, very friendly service. Such a cute little place.

Galen P.

Yelp
I've only been here for happy hour. Limited seating, nice atmosphere.... Highly recommend the bacon wrapped jalapeños.

Daria S.

Yelp
Wonderful place for breakfast or brunch. We started with hot tea. My hubbie had the scrambled omelette which was thick with goodies. I had the chorizo eggs. They were flavorful and cooked just right. Super easy parking even with a trailer. I'll be stopping in again!

Liz T.

Yelp
Food good, service decent ( seems to be the norm) . Stag was friendly just slow. Good happy hour!

Sina T.

Yelp
The menu isn't big but it's tasty. It has a comfortable welcoming atmosphere and the food is very good. I really like it when they have special items on the menu like their crab boil.

Mimi J.

Yelp
Everyone raves about the chicken and dumplings here. Very good flavor but very little chicken in my bowl. Maybe it's hit or miss depending on who is preparing your plate. The drinks and salads are also tasty. Service is excellent. Great place for comfort food.

Howard G.

Yelp
Good, not great pub faire. You've seen this menu a hundred times before and they do a good job with what they're offering: reubens, salads, burgers, quesadillas, fish n chips, etc. The prices are moderate, the bar is fully stocked, and the waitstaff is pleasant. Still, I wouldn't rush to come back - nothing here stands out, it's just ok.

Sergey H.

Yelp
Fist restaurant my fiancé and I ate at when we arrived to WA. We ordered take out, A burger and fish and chips. Yum! The lady who helped me place my order over the phone was pleasant and resourceful. The order was ready in less then 15 and tasted fresh and delicious. The couple extra things I asked for were with the order (attention to detail). Around $40 for a dinner for 2 without drinks is not too bad. I'm sure we will dine in before we leave WA. Thanks!

Rod A.

Yelp
Love this place - Friendly folks and good food. Try the Chicken and Dumplings if it is cold out.

Allyson S.

Yelp
The staff are nice and the restaurant is "cute" BUT for $21 fish and chips? Oh honey no. The food quality is dennys diner at best... the equivalent to an Applebees. I can't believe the prices vs the quality. Definitely wouldn't recommend to anyone unless you just wanna spend more for less.
