Yelp
FROST is remarkable in its consistency -- in that their doughnuts are absolutely inedible and disgusting each and every time I've given them a shot over the years, thinking I surely must be missing something considering they're still in business and seem to get decent reviews? But without ire or exaggeration, no matter how many times I've tried their donuts (at least three or four times over the course of seven years living in the area), they are consistently oil-logged (and clearly cooked in not-great-quality or not-clean oil) which poisons the flavor of the whole confection, but on top of that, their frosting is too sweet and of a strange, overly thin and untempered consistency for doughnut frosting.
The seasoning/actual food flavor of both the oil-logged dough and frosting are deeply lacking, to the point I'd feel confident there is no butter and probably minimal eggs/any fresh ingredient of actual nourishment and flavor in these doughnuts, and that even their piercing sweetness may one from some cheap, industrial form of sweetener (corn syrup, etc). To this day, I can't understand how a place that makes such terrible-tasting food stays in business, or can even stomach selling these items that even McDonald's or Hostess Cupcakes couldn't turn a profit selling.
