Frutería Don Chamango # 1

The blonde lady with tattoos is super weird. You say please and thank you and she stays mute even when you ask for things. I got a fresas con crema raspado and I asked her for more lechera and she stared at me with a blank face and poured some looking annoyed. When im almost done with my raspado I get in my car and get this awful smell. When I smell the cup it smells horrible. It smelled like dog or like rotten eggs. Then I get home and my stomach hurts so badly. Its the next morning and I have the worst stomach pain. There’s no doubt in my mind that this woman put something bad in my raspado or honestly just made it with hate. There’s evil people out there, either bitter or jealous but you cant trust anything people make for you. Never going back there again. Terrible customer service. Plus music was way too loud I couldn’t even hear her.

If you're coming here expecting decent customer service, you won't find that here - not even a greeting. We have been here several times as we live close by and my kiddos enjoy a snack/dessert here and there. Food quality is a hit or miss. This evening's visit would be the last for us as we came in and of course, no greeting, smile or any indication of it being a welcoming establishment. We ordered a smoothie and a couple bags of chips with condiments instead of sorbet/ice cream after my son pointed out the dead flies that were accumulated in their ice cream cart/cases. We waited as 2 families ordered right after us and they got their smoothies before ours. Our chip bags were left opened on the counter for the entire duration of the wait. When they handed the chips bags to me, the condiments (lime juice, chamoy and hot sauce) were all carelessly spilled on the outside of the bag. On that note, the cherry on top... normally they are solo ran - it's rare that I would see more than 1 employee working at a time and there were 2 tonight. I watched as the newer employee served ice cream without gloves, used the same hand she just used the scooper with and wiped her mouth and returned that hand right back to the scooper to finish off scooping the customer's order. 🤢

We went here to get some fruiteria, but the music was super loud We ordered some coco loco, she said she didn't have it, we ordered Pina loca, didn't have it, melon loca, she told us to call ahead to pre order. Either the music was to loud she couldn't hear us or she didn't understand our order. I am sad and very disappointed 😞, that's didn't have to fruits we wanted and she she bothered to offer us alternative options.

Service was terrible. Dude ignored me even when I was at the counter. Chamango was overpriced and made with freezer burned mango. On TOP of that it was mostly champú and nothing else. Don’t come here. It’s dog water. No compren aquí.

Clean Quick service Mango ice cream sooo deliciously fresh! Great for summertime here! Chocolate milkshake and myself a mango with strawberry creme with an ice cream scoop, my choice MANGO! Fresh fruit, cream and icecream!

EBT Accept. Crazy Variety of fruit and drink. Not much seat 10-12 persons. Acceptable Price. Parking on behind. Chacamango, Mix Fruit are my favorite. This Watermelon 26$ , the cup 8.64$. Not bad for impress your party.

The food is so good! Next time I'm bringing my homies with me to munch on the goodness. The fruit tastes fresh and that's what mattered the most to me.

This place is ridiculously overpriced. When I saw it was $13 for a cup of esquite, I hesitated but thought "oh well I'm already here". When I pulled out my card to pay, there was 50¢ fee to pay with a card I asked for extra mayo and the woman said it would be an extra fee for more mayo. She noticed my shock and proceeded to lecture me on how everywhere you go people have to pay extra for extra. I explained that I understood what she meant but that their prices were kind of high compared to other places. She seemed annoyed and said "well the prices are right there and it's extra for extra things". Super rude. Never coming back here.

Food: Got two Açaí Strawberry Banana Smoothies. Huge. $10 each (2024). Plus for size plus for flavor. Really felt like real fruit. 5 out of 5. Service: Yes, it's bad. No smile, no greeting, had to wait couple of minutes to be addressed when the place was empty. Deadpan look of annoyance by the one employee lady. 1 out of 5 stars. Ambiance: Loud. 100 dB so that's real hearing damage after 5 minutes. Has disco lights. The employee turned the music off to take a 10 minute call. Then it was back and loud and so we left. 1 out of 5. Overall: 7/15, 2 out of 5 stars. Willing to update in the future.

Low key spot, with good Mexican treats. I was feening for a Chamango and this spot did not disappoint. Came back a week later with the hubby and I got the elotes in a cup and the fresas con plantano y creama. Our tastebuds are satisfied.

NASTY food. NASTY service. I saw the person working the counter touch money as they worked the register, prepared food, used their cellphone, and COUGHED without washing their hands ONCE!!! Therefore I asked for a refund, and the entertainment that followed was shocking. They REFUSED to give me a refund. BAD business. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!

I had this place bookmarked for a while and was excited to try it, but I wasn't exactly blown away so I don't plan on returning. I'll give them this -- they have a big menu here so no matter what kind of snacks you like, whether you prefer savory or sweet, you can find your fix here. And they have their own parking lot so that's a nice plus. When I went, I ordered just hot Cheetos with cheese. I thought $4.50 was a steep price for it because the bag of chips cost about $2, meaning just the nacho cheese alone was an added $2. Not worth it imo. The cheese wasn't the best and I ended up giving half my bag to one of my friends. I went with two friends and two of us were able to get our order pretty quickly. Our other friend, who ordered first, didn't. The employees at Frutería Don Chamango actually forgot her order. She asked for an elote and a nieve, so it wasn't even a complicated order. She waited about 15 minutes and saw other people get their orders before her, even though they ordered well after her. The cashier looked through the receipts and questioned when she asked for, then eventually had other employees make her food. She had barely begun to eat by the time my other friend and I were finished because the employees forgot about her

Large watermelon water tasted like powdered sugar watermelon flavor. Slightly taste the watermelon but not much. 2/10 or 4/10 if I'm being nice

This place has me in a chokehold. I just moved to the area and have been here weekly. Their tostilocos are to die for. The cucumbers and jicama are always fresh. Yes, they're a little bit more pricy in comparison to other fruterias, but it's worth it!

I've always passed this place and I finally decided to check it out! They have a parking space right behind the shop. They have a lot of things on the menu!! But I specifically just came for some watermelon juice. It was really good! They also sell some Mexican candy and chips here!

AWFUL SERVICE. If I'm treating myself and my family to a treat, I shouldn't feel like I'm bothering the employees by taking my order. Especially in today's economy, businesses should be appreciative that customers chose their place of business when there are other choices nearby. The employees here especially the man with the beard are straight JERKS. NEVER AGAIN.

should be "fruiteria don limon" (sour puss) customer service is awful. the owner or whatever he is, man with the beard acts like he's doing you a favor by taking your order. Found the best mexican cravings option in whole San Diego! Don Chamangos is a little far but was worth the try, they have an huge menu with tons of delicious options. Due to covid there's no indoor seating and only two tables outside, they lack of good ventilation so it was some hot inside so we just placed our order get some agua fresca and waited outside. We had the cheeto elote which amazingly is white corn not sweet yellow, and also the tostiloco which is big enough for two. I've got to say I wanna go back to try the diablito de mango and tosticamaron. Try this place it satisfies all sort of cravings wish they were in Indy

from our first item here, there was no turning back. The amount and quality of the food here is unparalleled. I go for anything elote (corn) related like the nachos and Cheetos and they hit the spot every time! The fresas con crema? I always only ate that at one spot but they get it right here and make it even better, plus with more variations. The first time we came it was definitely overwhelming because of how loud the music was and the lights were insane. Just like a club but it was funny. Yes customer service is not great but that's the last thing I'm here. Everything they've put out has been amazing. Once they've gotten our order wrong and remade our stuff (incorrectly again) and we just left with two items. It wasn't a big deal for us. Would definitely recommend this gem this is our go to fruteria !

This is the perfect place if you're craving fruit! I got the strawberries and cream with granola it was so good and tasted so fresh! There is so many options here for a amazing price! Can't wait to try more!

I came in wanting a green smoothie. Green apple and spinach specifically. I left with a plain mango smoothie. It was $8.50. 2 stars because all the other drink options looked great. This mango smoothie is no good though

My husband and I have been to this place a few times and always gotten good drinks/snacks for it being so close to our home. The customer service was meh, but we figured it was because of the language barrier so it was fine. This time around, we were first in line and the cashier took the order of the Spanish speaking customers behind us first. My husband wanted to leave right then and there, but the next place I would've wanted to get a Chamango was in Spring Valley. From now on, we will certainly be going over to Fruity Loco in Spring Valley instead (the service and food/drinks there are better anyways).

Wverytime I feel like having Mexican snacks, this is my to go place. Their elote with cheetos is 5/5

I came across this place one night when I was craving a smoothie and all the places on Postmates where closed and I jumped on Yelp. My husband and I ordered the Watermelon smoothie, Mango/Pineapple Smoothie, and corn in a cup. At first I was skeptical because it was a place I had driven by for so many years and saw it as a small corner market/convenience store so I never knew it changed into a fruit smoothie eatery. I was pleasantly surprised when the watermelon smoothie was refreshing and sweet! My husband enjoyed his smoothie too! But I've came across other places where the second or third time wasn't the same. So when I reordered from this place, they meet my expectations when the same sweet watermelon taste was there! It's like taking a bite into a juicy, sweet, ripe slice of watermelon on a hot summer day at a picnic at the park or at a family bbq. But without the messy juices running down your chin/hands or the rest of the watermelon rinds rubbing against your cheeks. The fruits used here are absolutely so fresh and delicious!! And the taste is consist so you know it's not going to be off another time you order it. The corn was pretty good as well compared to other places in the area. I think this is my new go-to place for smoothies and corn!

Horrible! I went there around 8:00pm last week. I came in, and I was trying to order. I think the owner was there sitting in the back on his phone. He then yelled at the employee to turn the music up. And I was having trouble putting in the order due to how loud it was. The music literally was as loud as a club/bar. It was so loud I had to step out. He then just keep looking at me. I hate to say, but I think he was drunk. Not too sure though. But it felt so uncomfortable. Never again. Heading to Frutilandia! My all time favorite.

This is a small business with 85 options of different Mexican snacks! They have smoothies, sandwiches, cheetohs locas, banana splits, fruity ice cream. Our food was delicious but the inside could use a little makeover. I ordered the watermelon fruit water and it was AMAZING. I went with a big group so I'll have lots of pictures added. Everything was delicious.

I love this place. They have the best chamango. I've been to a lot of fruterias in san diego and none can compare to this one. The reason for the 4 stars is because I have been coming here for about 6 months and the price went up 2 dollars for a chamango and that's ridiculous. And the lady that used to work here I don't see her anymore and she was so quick and efficient.

Must have been my first taste of chamango since I came to the US, I didn't know why I was being so late, my guess is I heard chamango was very spicy, and I could not handle spicy hot food, so I got held back until today, that proved me wrong, the chamango mix drink I ordered was very good, it was so flavorful, it got sweetness of mango, some sourness and a bit spicy like tajin and tamarind, I enjoyed it very much, didn't send me to the bathroom later at all. The seafood tostada was great as well, the hot sauce also didn't kill me and I finished the crunchy shell this time :) I'm all about supporting the local business, and this is one of those places, hard working people to deliver some good service here. Unfortunately they didn't have any tacos on the menu, but I did hear they said they would open another food place in a month with tacos included. Make sure to check it out when it's opened :)

My friend introduced me to this store, the music was too loud but food was delicious & we had good time. Tonight I came back second time for Chamango, it's on the menu is $6.50 , she charged me $7 ( included tax, i gess), but when I requested for the receipt, she asked me for another $.50 cent for tax , the total will be $7.50 I'm like....$.50 cent for giving a receipt?? It's doesn't make no sense. But I wanna my Chamango anyway and didn't want to make a big deal on that . I changed my mind to get back the cash and pay with Apple Pay but for some reason my Apple Pay didn't go through. I felt uncomfortable and finally I canceled my order because she didn't make it yet until I pay her. I would tip her after she made my drink but $.50 cent for receipt...it's seem like ..

This place is honestly not that good... the guy working there was slamming everything. Customer service was kinda unprofessional... cold nachos? I'm sorry.

I've been here so many times and back then, it was good, now... it's even better. 06/2021. He renovated the shop and let me tell you... it's 10000x better. I believe his name is frank? And his crew of ladies is what makes the place special. They are soo accommodating. Just tell them what you want.. I had the chamango - but with watermelon and pineapple ice cream..

I went here on a Tuesday 8pm. Got there and the worker/owner idk was sitting in the back on his phone and didn't even mind to greet us after like a couple minutes(we were just awkwardly waiting). He was somewhat rude and sassy. The fruit salad fruit was not fully ripe and hard still. But my biggest disappoint was the attitude of the worker and how poorly he showed customer service. *DONT RECOMMEND*

Really disappointed because when I come to town I look forward to their amazing smoothies. This time there were TONS of plastic pieces in there. The pic only shows the ones I managed to save. I ended up throwing the drink out. I had gotten too far to take the smoothie back.

This place was good. Their escamocha was delicious but was expecting it to be nice and cold but the only thing cold was the ice cream and the tosti locos were okay but i was sad to see that it had no clamato so they were just dry. I'm giving this 3 stars because overall it was good but didn't meet my expectations and we waited almost an hour for our order when the place wasn't even busy.

Great chaca fresa! So delicious! Elote was good, but they went up on price between the times I went. It also had a lot of water on the corn so you have to pour it off. Outside of that, its really good on a hot day.

My go to is the fresas con lechera raspado because it's delicious! Not too sweet and it has fresh fruit.

It was a sweet and savory treat. Delish on a warm day!! Definitely will be returning to try more of their menu.

I love this place really chill quiet spot to wine down with your partner I got the strawberry banana con Fresca and my wife got a Cheeto elote Molido 10/10 forsure

Tostilocos are small for $7! Hardly any chips in it. Aguas were served warm. Taste like if you bought a smoothie and it melted and u drank it after leaving it in the car for hours. Place is small and isn't good. I didn't like this place. Go elsewhere.

I came here at 11:15 and music was blasting. Did I care? No. Is the neighborhood a bit sketchy? Hell yes, but guess what it's Sunday after 11pm and I got some delicious açaí for $9.00 and there's parking in the back. Wish there was more around San Diego open late like here.

So I noticed the main guy wasn't there (first time I don't see him) and me and my kids went In and tried it out again. The lady was nice cashier was nice. And the pepinos with all the good stuff (pepinos locos) we very good.

Over-priced. $8 for chamango plus $.5 for card. Chamango is average. Customer service is bad. Chips and snacks are overpriced. Parking is in the back.

1 word... TOSTIELOTE! This is by far the best frutería I have ever been to in San Diego. Both the girl at the register and the man making the drinks and food were extremely friendly. They even gave me a sample of the açaí smoothie while I ordered since they had leftovers from the customers before me. I got a fresas con crema, tostielote, chamango and vaso de fruta. Everything was amazing. I will be a regular and be back soon.

Always mobile ordering here for their Chamango and it's the best one I've tasted so far. Staff is friendly and little to no delay when getting my Chamango

This was an easy go to for me because it's only a 3 or 4 minute walk from my house. But that's about to change. The 2 stars is only because I like the food/snacks, not the service. The girls that work here (or have worked here) have always been good. The guy, who I assume is the owner, always seems to be on the jerkish side to his workers mostly, but his CS isn't quite there either. As I walked in today, he was on his phone leaning on the counter, I walk up and say hi. He says Hi back real quick them goes to the worker. I assumed he was telling her to come take my order, but then quickly saw he was just showing her what was on his phone. I turn and start walking out. Right before I walk out the door, I turn one last time, and he was back at the counter. I ask "Oh, are you ready now? " he says "yeah". I'm about to place my order, realized I didn't like the way I was treated, said "you know what, nevermind" and walked out. I'm still craving my Tostilocos, so I guess I'll just have to drive somewhere else to get them. Bummer!

The interior is very fun, club like vibe. The setup is very cute, can be fun for a late night date with your man or some friends since they close at 12am. Love how the displayed their menus with pictures which I believe every restaurant should do lol. The only downside I have of this place is their smoothies. They put way too much sugar. I literally saw the lady put in like a big ole ice scoop of sugar in my smoothies and when I drank it, I can literally taste how sugary it is that it was so hard for me to drink. I didn't know they put in that much sugar, next time I'll tell them not to put any at all because man, when I take too much it gives me headaches. Took a couple sips and gave it to my brother lol. Wouldn't recommend this place if you're looking for a healthy refreshing smoothie

My favorite Mexican snack dessert spot in San Diego!!! The corn in a cup is to die for and so are the raspados!!! Parking is really easy and they have soooooo much to choose from and lots of seating!!

Elote!!! This place is delicious, super legit Mexican fruteria. Been here a couple of times, everything we have gotten has been great! I recommend the elote, the fruit waters, the smoothies. Ok it's all great!

Had to update my review . From 2018 . I went today with my daughter to get something cold to drink and I didn't like the fact that the guy who runs it was not wearing proper gloves. He went to the cashier station and helped a guy who was over charged . He grabbed the guys phone to look at the error I noticed he kept rubbing his finger like he hurt himself then he rubs his hands on his blue jeans and continued to work the register with no gloves . He then went to go get ONE GLOVE and started touching the food with his right bare hand that he used to touch the cash register. I stood in there watching him while not properly gloved after he touched the last customers phone . I was then asked so wait outside .. for my order ... I think this place needs to be reviewed by health inspectors reason being is he did not take proper protocol in washing his hands and only wearing one glove ... I don't recommend this place even if the food is good ...
