Hey it’s in the Northside, but if you love good and great portions this is the place to go. The PoBoy was amazing and the 3 Rivers Mac-bowl was something you’ll be talking about. Huge fan of the Cucumber Mint. Also, I grabbed a house salad that was amazing. Just a FYI the portions sizes are large!

I stopped by The Fry Bar on Friday night and ordered The 301 — and let me just say, I’m still thinking about that meal. From the very first bite, everything was superb. The fish was fried to golden perfection, the shrimp had the perfect crunch and seasoning, the hand-cut fries were delicious on their own, and the signature sauces? Absolutely addictive. The house salad was fresh and well-balanced, a perfect complement to the richness of the fried items. And the best part? The generous portion size. I had so much food that I was able to enjoy the rest the next day, and it was still amazing. If you’re looking for flavor, freshness, and real value, The 301 at The Fry Bar is it. I’ll definitely be back!

Outstanding food. Super friendly staff. We all left full and happy. I haven't had smoke wings that good since I lived in Texas. My burger was delicious and filling. Definitely check this place out for sure.

Google
This was an unexpected surprise. A random search brought us here and we were pleasantly surprised. We had the jerk and papa loco fries and they were amazing. The fries are cooked perfectly and can withhold being dipped in the sauces. That being said I love that they put the sauces on the side. Now you can control how much of each toppings you actually want. Cause that habanero bbq sauce is a good kinda spicy but too much could’ve been overpowering. I’m telling anyone that says they’re headed to PGH to stop by here!

Bought food at this place last night and initially when I came to order my food came up to $60.00 for 2 people. I was like wow thats a little costly but when the food came OMG SERVING SIZE 10/10 TASTE 10/10 and that salad WOW!!! The only downfall fall for me as a first time customer was i wish the fish had a specific combo.. eg 2 sides and the fish etc instead of me putting together a meal. Just a suggestion but continue doing yall BIG ONE.

Google
Stopped in because of a recommendation from a nearby bar. I don’t know if the man who greeted us was the owner, but he was so nice and welcoming. We ordered their buffalo wings, a large fry and two salads. The fries came in a box the size of a small pizza, the portion was gigantic. Their wings were fried and smoked perfectly. I had the salad with the parmesan ranch and it was great!! If we are ever back in town and nearby, we will definitely be back!

FRY BAR is a fast-casual spot that takes the humble fry and turns it into a full-blown culinary experience. They specialize in crowd-pleasers made with fresh, high-quality ingredients and a creative twist. Beyond the obvious (amazing fries), the menu includes mac bowls, salads, "wangz," "sammichez," sides, sweets, a build-your-own option, and non-alcoholic drinks. You can enjoy their signature Fry Bar Classics served over fries, mac bowls, or salads. All Fry Classics come with cheese sauce, and all Salad Classicz come with shredded cheese. Dressings include Parmesan Ranch or Champagne Vinaigrette. The menu was packed with so many delicious-sounding options, it was hard to choose — but I went with Papa Loco: chicken, spicy slaw, pico, habanero bbq sauce. Absolutely incredible. I can't recommend these fries enough! To drink, I had their homemade sweet tea, which was a perfect match. Their mission is to delight every customer through bold flavors, sustainable practices, and community engagement — and you can really feel that. Fry Bar isn’t just serving fries; they’re redefining comfort food with heart and creativity.

Google
Absolutely fantastic. The staff are super enthusiastic and kind, and everything is made in-house--and it shows. The portions are huge, fries are fresh and crispy, and the cheese sauce on the mac and cheese? I'll be thinking about it for ages. Forgot to even take a picture because we dug in that fast. If you're in tbe city, you HAVE to stop by!

Yelp
What a great find. We're always looking for places to eat with character. Our list favorite place for wings has a new #1. No breading but perfectly crispy. They have a smokey hint and are tasty without sauce, but the jerk sauce was so good, I will take some home next time.....and there WILL BE a next time. We thought the fries were fantastic even when they cooled off (we were so busy eating the wings we didn't get to the fries right away). The tables were comfortable. Everything was clean. Chef and hostess made us feel at home.

Yelp
Papa Loco was exceptional. Wings are smoked then flash fried to get crispy. The Jerk bowl was fantastic as well. Mac and cheese is absolutely perfect. Staff was great. Strongly recommend trying this restaurant.

Yelp
Pretty good portions. 1 order of the classics can easily serve 2-3. We ordered the jerk over mac and the oink over fries for pickup. Arrived and found parking on the street (if your familiar with NorthSide you know how parking is) and saw they had a selection of tea, I grabbed the FB Tea which is a sweet tea with fresh lemon. It was very refreshing, but unfortunately, for the pregnant ladies out there, it is not pasteurized. Food was hot and ready when we arrived as well! Staff were friendly!! I will say they should have a spice scale, cause the Jerk was pretty up there. We were not ready for that level of spicy lol. The oink was really good. I heard the cheese sauce was really good so we ordered two. It wasn't bad, but nothing we found ourselves wanting two of like Canes sauce or something. Definitely a place worth returning to, though, well skip the jerk next time lol

Yelp
If you haven't tried Fry Bar yet, you're seriously missing out. Yes, the fries are awesome, but all of their creations are what really set them apart. Everything is homemade & I mean everything! From cheese sauce for Mac & cheese to in-house smoked meats and wings, this is an absolute gem. It's an unassuming spot in the North Side with very friendly owners and staff. I tried "The Oink" with fries, pulled pork, and homemade BBQ sauce. Absolutely killer!!! The portion is so big they serve it in a pizza box. I also had wings that were some of the best I've ever had. The lemonade and tea is to die for too!

Yelp
Fry Bar was everything I didn't know I needed! The hospitality of the owners; the cozy vibe of the restaurant, the outstanding freshly made drinks, & the explosion of flavors that erupt in your mouth; are just a few things that will keep you coming back. I tried The Oink with Mac & Cheese with a side of lemonade to wash it all down. I sat in awe as I savored every single bite. You literally could taste every flavor individually & collectively it equals divine! I'm sure I'll be a regular at the Fry Bar as there are so many more menu items I have to explore! Thank you Fry Bar for such a delightful visit! See you soon!!

Yelp
What a great new addition to the Northside! We're always looking for great local lunch spots and we found one. The owner is so warm, welcoming and friendly. She explained the menu and checked multiple times to make sure we were ok. Great service! Old Bay homemade chips were really good and I dont even really like potato chips. Mint cucumber drink was amazingly refreshing. My husband loved the jerk chicken fries. They were really hot for me but if you love spicy you'd love them. Super flavorful! Loved the burger! It had a really unique seasoning on it which gave it great flavor. The house sauce was fabulous and would be good on anything. Loved the toasted bun! So many great things on the menu that we want to go back and try. Going to tell others to go check it out.

Yelp
Fry Bar is a fast-casual restaurant that serves French fries, macaroni bowls, salads, wings, sandwiches, and non-alcoholic beverages. Please see my attached photos for the menu in February 2025. Fry Bar was on Yelp Pittsburgh's list of Black-owned businesses to try during Black History month. My husband and I ate one lunch here. The exterior of the building looked old, but the interior of the restaurant was nicely remodeled and had tables and chairs for dining in. Takeout and delivery were also available. Two employees promptly and courteously served us. Here are my ratings for what we ate: Load 'Em Up Fries - 4 stars - A medium-sized pizza box was filled with French fries that were topped with bacon and scallions. The serving size was so large that I had leftovers for two later meals at home. I really liked the French fries and the accompanying cups of cheese and sour cream. Pulled-pork Sammy - 4 stars - A fresh bun was filled with pulled pork, habanero BBQ sauce, and some coleslaw. The flavor was not too spicy and tasted very good. FB Mac and Cheez - 4 stars - This macaroni had a good amount of cheese and tasted very good. Sweetie Pie - 4 stars - A flaky pastry crust was filled with seasonal fruit, which I think was apples. Some cinnamon sugar was on the exterior, and on the side was a flavorful dip. FB Tea - 4 stars - I liked the flavor of this sweet tea. The label on the bottle said that the tea was not pasteurized. This meal cost $44 *plus* tax and tip.

Yelp
Picked up food for takeout not too long ago and it was great! Their portions are huge I had enough for 2-3 meals. Service was super quick and well and the owners were nice

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch on a weekday. I got the Oink, minus the cole slaw and it was ok. If you like spicy, it's very hot. The portions were good though. Would maybe try a different one next time.

Yelp
Wow. I'm not sure exactly what I was expecting, but for whatever reason the fry theme in the name had me expecting a fast food kind of vibe. I could not have been more wrong. Loaded fries and wings both seem like pretty easy and straightforward kinds of dishes, but you can truly taste the amount of work that goes into the food here. From the fries themselves that are perfectly crispy, to the incredible flavor and texture of the cheese sauce, or the smoky flavor of the wings, I loved every single bite of my meal.

Yelp
This is a smaller establishment-- they offer take out but also have some indoor seating! The menu is larger than you'd think and has a range of selections for any eater. You start with a base (Mac n cheese or fries) then you top it!! I wanted something with some spice so I got the papa loco with a fry base. The service was friendly and helpful when trying to pick my first time-try. It's a quaint spot on Galveston and a short walk from western (and the breweries). It's a perfect spot to grab and go or grab a quick bite. Must try on the north side!

Yelp
This place was amazing! We needed a place to go after hanging out and even though they were about to close they were welcoming and invited us to eat. The service felt like family and the food *chefs kiss*! I had the pulled pork sandwich which I did not take a photo because I was hungry and before I knew it I demolished it. They said it comes with a small handful of fries and I don't know who's hand they used but it wasn't my hand! The people I went with got the fries with toppings and also a large helping. I tried the jerk chicken fries! Omg the chicken was tender and juices and the jerk spicy! If we lived here it would be a regular rotation. I'll have to come back here next time! Cute place with a lovely atmosphere great service and great food.

Yelp
Fries were delicious, seriously some of the best I've had. Reminds me of the kind my grandma would make by hand when I was a child, but better! Not too greasy and nice and crispy on the outside. It's a small seating area but everyone is so kind and it has a comfortable vibe. My only complaint is that after leaving, I smelled so greasy, I had to go home and change!

Yelp
First off the tea and lemonade are great! So glad I went with the combo for both orders. Food was great, nice delicious sandwich! The sauce topped it off with a great taste. The service was excellent too, I came in early and happy to see the amazing extensive menu and seating for at least 20 people, great location too! Thanks again!

Yelp
This Illy Philly was hungry....as usual....and wanted something new, and something different to eat so I headed to the Northside (Look at me...recognizing neighborhoods now...I feel like a real Pittsburghian) to see what was cooking.... I saw a new restaurant called the Fry Bar and headed in to see what they were 'frying up' (see what I did there?)... O.M.G!!!! It smelled so good when I walked in. I was greeted with a pleasant smile and a really nice menu when I walked in. The menu consisted of fresh made comfort foods... Emphasis on fresh. I talked with the owners and discovered that everything they make is from scratch and really freshly made to order. They don't freeze anything. This is epic because I love fresh food. I ordered the 'Da Dahntahn' because I'm vegan and the idea of fresh veggies, sautéed and seasoned, on top of a fresh salad with dressing made from scratch was appealing. I also ordered their FB Mac & Cheez, their creamy Slawz and a Mint Cucumber Lime drink to top it off. What can even say....this food was absolutely epic!!! You can really taste the freshness in everything! The veggies were phenomonal and seasoned well, and pairing it with the salad and dressing on top took it over the top. The dressing was delicous!!!! The Mac & Cheez was creamy with subtle and distinct taste of cheeses in their house cheese sauce. I don't know what's in it but it was so good going down and I love Cavatappi noodles when I eat Mac & Cheese so it was perfect. The coleslaw was the right dosage of creamy and is now one of my top favorites ( I can't wait to put it on top of a vegan burger!) The piece de resistance was the Cucumber Mint Lime drink. This was delicous. The right amounts of Cucumber, mint and lime. It was like heaven in my mouth. Overall the Fry Bar is definitely a great place to get some beautifully crafted foods, made from scratch with the freshest ingredients, that will make your palate scream for more. Try them out and thank me later

Yelp
This place is tucked away but only a few miles from home. I'm glad I had a chance to try it. The staff was super friendly and explained the menu and options. If you like old bay this is the place for you. I ordered a bag of chips, small fry, lemonade, and cheese sauce. I'll definitely be back to try some of their meal options. Just a note there are steps to get into the establishment.

Yelp
I dined at Fry Bar this past weekend. There was no one out front when we arrived. We ended up waiting about 5 minutes and then someone came out from the back. The cashier was really nice and explained the menu to us. There were three of us and we all ordered the five piece wingz. We were told for an additional $6, we could make it into a combo with any side and a drink. We all decided to do that. The wangz are advertised as whole smoked and crisped so I was very excited to try them! I got the buffalo flavor and the other two guests got the 5 piece Parmesan ranch. Two of got the fries as a side and the other person got a salad. We all tried the cucumber mint juice for our drinks. Our food came out pretty quick! The fries, cheese sauce, and salad were all really delicious! I'm still thinking of those fries! However, the wangz fell flat for us. They were tiny. Like really tiny. I think advertising them as whole wings was a bit misleading. The cucumber mint juice was delicious, just a bit sweet. I cut it with some water and it was perfect! Overall, I would definitely go back! I just would not get the wings again.

Yelp
Short walk from the Mattress Factory so headed there for lunch. Clean corner space with several tables for dine-in though seems to do a lot of takeout business. Owners were friendly and happy to explain the options, basically proteins over fries, salad or mac & cheese. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
I Got a 301 (10 stars) with added jerk chicken and MAN was it unreal!!!! The service (10 stars) was excellent. The young lady working at the register was polite and very helpful. The restaurant (10 stars) is very clean with a modern looking set up.

Conchita B.

Yelp
I had the pleasure of experiencing Fry Bar located on the Northside of Pittsburgh. The food was amazing. The staff is very personable and they make you feel like a valued customer. I highly recommend Fry Bar you will not be disappointed.

Tim K.

Yelp
The Fry Bar classics are gigantic. An entire pizza box filled with crisp fries. We ordered the Three Rivers which included peppers, onions and perfectly cooked shredded chicken. These fries are so good you won't miss the ketchup.
google avatar

Imani W.

Yelp
Staff was very inviting as soon as we walked in! Music was nice and it was very clean. We ordered the Po Boy w/ fries, the Oink over Mac and cheese bowl and Parmesan ranch wings and it was DELICIOUS! The portions fit the cost. We only spent like $70 and we have more than enough for dinner and lunch the next day. We'll be returning soon!

Yelp
After a long HOT bike ride I tried the jerk chicken. OMG mouth bursting with flavors. I don't eat out in restaurants often anymore, but I heard about the jerk chicken and wanted to at least give them a try. The service was excellent. Very clean and friendly environment. The jerk chicken was 10 out of 10. I definitely recommend the jerk chicken.

Nikki F.

Yelp
Wings were small and somewhat dry, with very little meat. Fries were tasty, expensive for what it is.

Michele A.

Yelp
Loved it! Worth the walk from AGH. Very friendly place and great fries and lemonade.

Marc D.

Yelp
Honestly, I can say with 100% confidence the best chicken sandwich I've ever eaten in my life, I'm not playing, makes Chick-fil-A raising Cane Bojangles any of them makes them look like McDonald's, chicken nuggets, and sizt! Get the old bay with the honey!!! Mac & cheese is the best I have ever eaten from any restaurant, every like a different cheese tasted like 72 cheeses in there! service was just like you were at home made me feel like family! The ambience is wonderful. Looks like they put a ton of money right at home in Pittsburgh. This is a must go to spot if you're in Pittsburgh or you're visiting Pittsburgh please go here you're not gonna get better food anywhere else I can tell you that!! Thanks God bless!

Annette P.

Yelp
What a great find! Walked to this place after visiting the National Aviary. The menu looks amazing. The staff, and I think the owner, were great to talk to. The Oink with Mac n Cheese was heaven! Great portion sizes. Try It!

Yelp
This place is AMAZING. The homemade lemonade is just to die for & the food is incredibl!!!! We will be back

Yelp
A must try. One of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had- fresh ingredients, chicken was cooked perfectly, drenched in Old Bay honey sauce, with Old Bay Mayo... amazing.. Fry Bar will be a new staple in the North Side neighborhood. Chef LaShawn and his hardworking team made the experience that much better. This will be on our weekly rotation.
