L Fish, One of LA’s Best Fish Taco Spots, Returns After Two Year Hiatus | Eater LA

"After well more than two years of being closed, L Fish has returned to East LA under brothers Juan Robert Sanchez and Ulysses Sanchez, using a recipe given to them by the owners of Tacos El Fenix in Ensenada; the stand had earned a spot on the Eater 38 best tacos in 2018 but abruptly closed in March of that year due to permitting problems and inexperience, and they vowed to return once they found the right space. I’m happy to report they reopened in early August as a street stand in the front parking lot, shaded by a long white L Fish banner, with Juan running a lowrider mechanic shop on top of the taco spot so you can get work done on your Chevy Impala while you wait. The Baja California–style fish and shrimp tacos are better than ever: a light, crisp golden-brown fry atop good corn tortillas from a neighborhood tortilleria, executed among the best in Los Angeles with Pocho rules. A fresh, enticing condiment bar offers well-made standards like pico de gallo, grated cabbage, pickled onions, and salsas, plus sour cream, creamy chipotle, and chile serrano sauces in squirt bottles. They are open noon to 8 p.m., Tuesday to Sunday (closed Mondays)." - Bill Esparza

We haven't seen this place in one or two years, that picture at 5056 is not correct, they are two blocks west near the southeast corner of Laverne and Whittier Blvd. We bought three fish tacos at 2.75 each and were very good. The workers are friends with my wife and we'll be coming back.

I always seen this place and decided to try it out after shopping from Dollar Tree, employees were very nice and friendly. They gave few recommendations and picked baby octopuse it was very good and tasted very fresh.

Was a bit sad as I thought this place had closed, but it just moved location about a block away infront of the Dollar Tree. Have been going to this seafood shop for many many years. My parents used to buy seafood here and still do, and now as an adult myself I shop here too. Good quality seafood from a family owned shop. Always had good customer service experiences here and will continue to shop for seafood at this shop for years to come.

You can pick whatever you want and they'll fry it right there. A lot of customers asked for the ceviche. Very fresh food, and the staff was friendly!

I am not sure what is going on here my purchase from a completely different store allowed this business to pull basically 1k from food stamps.

Yelp
We got in here and saw the place is clean with ample tables inside. The array and options of seafood were good. Although I see some that are empty already. We ordered smelt, baby octopus and crawfish. The baby octopus is around $6.99 per lb, smelt $5.99/lb and crayfish $8.99/lb. Once we got our order, the fish and octopus were fried crispy. It's tasty and not too salty. My son enjoyed eating them. We didn't have to wait too long. They also gave me free taco - tilapia fish crispy fried with spicy sauce and lots of condiments. I paid around $24 for everything. Which is not bad. The parking space is limited, but street parking is always available.

Yelp
People please beware using this place. I am not sure what person working there has figured out a way to charge hundreds on customers cards without them even stepping foot in this establishment or this place has something sinister going on. I have a $500, $41.04, and a $540.00 charge on my card and I have never even stepped foot in this establishment. So either they don't check ID's for purchases or someone stole my card number unknowingly.

Yelp
Fresh , literally made to order delicious seafood. Staff is friendly and service is pretty quick. They have a delicious spicy dipping sauce that you can use with any of the dishes. Also if you're looking to just buy raw fresh seafood to make at home they got you!!!
