Fuego Sushi

Cozy hole in the wall sushi spot in the heart of Old Town. I've been here 2 days in a row now. Ordered the Halloween roll the first day. It was a good portion for the price. It was good, not great. The asparagus was hardly noticable. It has asparagus but the pieces were hardly noticable. Still a decent roll. Would order again, but would add eel sauce or spicy mayo. Today I ordered a simple, salmon roll and a miso soup... Miso soup was really good, which is funny because it's the simplest thing. But it looked nice and cloudy when it came out. Vary appetizing. The salmon roll was good. I think it could've had more avocado. But for under $10, it was fair. I'll definitely come back to try more of their specialty rolls. I also ordered the small sake, both times... It's really small. You get 3 shots. Wish there was an option for a bigger one. Service was ok. You seat yourself. You have the option to order from a touch screen, or wait for a menu. Yesterday when I walked in, I ordered, sat myself, and the server didn't even acknowledge me for like 10 minutes. It was kind of awkward. Today I walked in and they also looked at me like, can I help you? 😆 After I broke the ice, the girl asked, "for 1?" One I was seated, she was really nice. Overall, it's a great spot for a quick and inexpensive bite of sushi, with a limited, but decent options. I'll definitely be coming back, and probably often. Oh, it's located in a food court with shared bathrooms. It gives authentic Old Town vibes. That's also a plus.

Great place! Enough with the Mexican food in Old Town. Fresh fish, simple presentation, friendly staff. (I forgot to take a pic before we ate the roll - only one piece left).

If it wasn’t for Groupon I would not have come here. They have a great location that I’m sure is expensive for rent, but for goodness sakes, use REAL CRAB in your rolls that are primarily crab based. The fake crap really cuts into you being able to cal this “sushi. Order taker was nice, Groupon was a good deal. The kitchen was super slow despite only 3 customers. Food was MEH

On a random Wednesday afternoon happy hour menu definitely caught my attention, short list not many items but good variety. Service was excellent! Food was fast but not too fast where you know rolls are made fresh and at time of order. Atmosphere is good , great place to come and then evening walk afterwards. Clean, small and delicious what you want for a local sushi experience. Will come back.

Amazing Sushi and the best service you could ever ask for. I was in a bind and needed quick-takeout (like unfairly quick). The sushi chef calmed me down and got me out quickly and his server was equally caring. And again the sushi is so fresh!!! Love the special touch of cilantro on my roll!

Had 2 California hand rolls and a shrimp tempura hand roll. Both were so good! Would definitely recommend and come back! Thank you!

This place is delicious! Try the Fuego roll. You won’t regret it. We also had sake in the most adorable “Chika Sake cup”

server was so sweet and the seating area was very welcoming with many heating elements to stay warm! highly recommend the jalapeño roll and the halloween roll! would definitely come back here again!!

Wanted something really quick while in old town. They have seats outside in the patio. The inside is a sushi counter with no available seating. The service was friendly and very fast. We got a California and a Philadelphia roll. Both were pretty good.

We arrived at 6pm today 6/13/25 for our reservation we made online only to find out that they had ran out of sushi and they were closing up. We are extremely disappointed since we were not informed before we arrived. We were very unhappy to say the least and staff acted like they didn't care which made matters worse. We live in Old Town and will not recommend this place at all!!

It's amazing how wonderful chef's work here. High standards, great recipes.. besides they can custom your needs. Friendly service, affordable, great location, fiesta ambience, heathers available, free parking. Fuego Sushi destination in town. Scratch kitchen, everything it's fresh. Be mindful you need to wait few minutes to enjoy fresh Sushi. Make some memories San Diego.

I ate at Fuego Sushi while attending a conference in Old Town. The restaurant is located inside a food court, which made it convenient for a quick meal. The food course is across the street from the historic park. I tried the rainbow roll and the mango roll. The rainbow roll was my favorite of the two. Both rolls were decent, but the rainbow roll stood out a bit more in terms of flavor. Overall, not a bad spot if you're looking for sushi in the area, especially if you want something quick and easy while at the food court.

The service was good. The food was ok. The sushi roll in itself was eh. The tuna on top of the roll I did not enjoy. I wish they had more drink options. Maybe I am a bit snobby since I have been to Tokyo. This place is 3 stars...

This restaurant is located inside a little food hall. Right next to the elotes and behind boneheads. They have a big patio that can accommodate big groups. They do have a waitress or an iPad to order as well. Food came out quick. The rolls were delicious!! They do offer non alcoholic drinks as well as alcoholic drinks. There's a huge parking lot across the street if you can't find street parking.

Have used them for multiple private events & Isaac + his team are incredible!!!! Amazing presentation & service.

The sushi is so good and the mochi icecream is delicious. I personally get the spicy tuna and spicy salmon which tasted o fresh.

Exceptional sushi and a great vibe all around. Also, some very good beers. Definitely will be coming back.

The food was amazing, 10/10. Tasted so fresh, Mari was an amazing server, 10/10 for service. Made sure we were accommodated & we had everything we needed. Food came really fast. Beautiful location as well.

Fuego Sushi has opened on the north facing side of the Old Town Urban Market. The setup for this business was that you ordered from a tablet outside the entrance and then take a seat under the covered patio. A worker would then deliver the food/drink to your table. There was no physical menu sheet to view the offerings nor was there a QR code to link to an online menu. Either of those options would have been an enhancement to minimize the wait to use the tablet. I think my visit may have concurred with their grand opening as there seemed to be a lot of customers in attendance who may have been family or friends with the owners. My order consisted of a Baja Roll, an Oh So Fresh Roll, and a Chef's Choice Hand Roll. While I sat at a table, a worker brought out a couple of complimentary ahi tuna tostadas. The wonton crisps that served as the base were very crunchy. The Baja Roll was spicy tuna and cucumber topped with tuna, salmon, lemon slices, and cilantro with a spicy ponzu sauce. The Oh So Fresh Roll contained kani, cucumber, asparagus, and avocado topped with tuna and micro cilantro. A ginger eel sauce and ponzu were squirted on top. The hand roll had both salmon, tuna, avocado, and cucumber inside the conical seaweed wrap. The first two rolls were cut into nine pieces and plated beautifully. The Baja was the better of the duo because of the multiple fishes included. Imitation krab, cream cheese, and shrimp tempura were prominent ingredients in many of the offerings. Sashimi was limited to three types while there were only two choices of nigiri (salmon, tuna). I also noticed just two appetizers were available. Based on the variety and quality of the items, I gave a three star rating for my meal at Fuego Sushi.

Good price, good food, good location. Highly recommend, jalapeno roll was delicious. Headed to old town not intending to get sushi but decided to give them a shot, definitely worth it and will be back.

We visited on Aug 2nd 2025 and the food was fresh and hot. Outdoor seating was clean and comfortable. The service was excellent. We also got the Fuego roll and it was delicious, just missed the picture.

Came here today on my birthday and had a great time! The sushi was fresh, Gladys was friendly and we'll be back!

The sushi roles were excellent, the service was great, and the nice cool breeze was perfect.

Sushi was great, full of flavor. Staff was pleasant and prompt. Staff turned on heaters for us since it was a bit windy.

Fuego Sushi is really good excellent pricing. Issac was very accommodating. My kids ordered sushi he helped them had a great experience.

Fuego Sushi is incredible, from the food to the service to the ambience. Upon to walking in to the cozy patio, the restaurant is nice small and clean. Which made me feel very welcoming. My husband and I were right away greeted by very friendly, profesional service and were explained the menu as well as the happy hour specials. The menu had plenty of options and pictures as well, I love to see what I will order. We ordered a couple of sushi rolls (Baked Lemon Roll,Fuego Roll, Jalapeño Roll and Mango Roll) All of the rolls were delicious, as they were made with very fresh ingredients, excellent flavors. This makes Fuego Sushi my most delightful most favorite sushi restaurant. I will most definitely be returning.

Went here on a Friday night (10/25/24), with some friends, and the atmosphere and space were super cute and inviting. It was decorated out for Dia De Los Muertos, and the staff were very friendly. We ordered the Halloween roll and the California roll, along with the Sho Chiku Bai Nigori. Both of the rolls were TASTY! And the Nigori was so smooth and sweet! It paired very well with the rolls. The server for the night was Gladlys, and she gave excellent service! She was super nice and answered any and all questions that we had, and was very knowledgeable about the food and drinks! The chef (wish I had gotten his name) was also really kind and friendly. Highly recommend coming to this spot. 10/10 all around!!!

I got food poisoning from here so beware!! I'm not sure what exact roll caused it since I had a fair share of everything, but hours later I was on deaths doorstep. Won't be going back

If you're looking for sushi just as good as Harney, if not better that's open for lunch, this is your spot! I have had the el chingon and the el fuego rolls that were both bomb! I've also had their albacore nigiri, tune belly nigiri and a modified version of their crunchy roll, however the afore mentioned rolls were my favorite.

So fresh and so good we sat outside in the patio which is perfect for people watching. The market where they are located had other option too we tried Elote which was Lao good. But hands down the sushi was some the freshest and best we have had in San Diego. We also ordered a lot of food and it was not very expensive quality was exceptional. I highly recommend it.

We went here from the Hillcrest farmer's market and was initially apprehensive since we thought it might not really be as good as the reviews said they were. Old Town has a lot of tourists so we weren't expecting great food. We were surprised how good the sushi were. They're bit-sized sushi but all of them tasted great. We especially liked the cooked rolls, so we ordered more of them. Service was great and very quick. We really liked the location and how it was connected to a few other shops like a shared space. It was nice to take a walk around Old Town afterwards and take in the sights. We would definitely come back here and maybe try also the other shops near it next time.

Literally the best sushi ever. I don't know what to say. It's true. I've found the Mecca. Salmon sashimi will melt in your mouth. The salmon skin roll was divine... I'm sad old town is a drive only because I will be coming here regularly from now on...

Currently, my favorite place to eat sushi in old town and all of San Diego. I have been here a few times and the customer service has always been very friendly and the sushi is always fresh. It's a chill ambience with beautiful decorations located inside Old Town Urban Market. We love the artwork around and the vibe of the whole market. We will definitely be eating here soon again.

We were seated rather quickly which was nice since it was near dinner time on a Sunday! Service was quick to order but it seemed like they were understaffed that day as our order took a while to come out but I did appreciate that they told us beforehand that our order may not come out at the same time. The rolls were really well presented and very yummy! We ordered around 6 rolls and they all looked and tasted fresh. The tuna tataki was a stand out for me with a really nice spicy kick! I did wish they had more drink options such as teas! Overall very good food, nice ambiance and good location near Old Town.

I highly recommend giving this place a try. The quality of the ingredients makes a huge difference in the overall taste of food, especially sushi. The chef told me he was using big eye tuna which is an excellent source of healthy extra lean protein. The staff takes pride in their food and the service was excellent. The location is great because you have many options in snacks and even a wine bar to satisfy the entire family's cravings in the same market area. Try the lemon roll, and the summer roll with a bottle of sake.

I've tried EVERYTHING on their menu and so far this has been my favorite roll, it was exquisite, service as always was phenomenal gladys and isaac are very attentive, courteous and helpful, the ambiance is very welcoming and homey and would definitely recommend FUEGO SUSHI if you're looking for something mind blowing

Incredible people and incredible food. This is the kind of place you wish would become an overnight success. A wife and husband so passionate about their craft and taking care of their people, you feel like you're at home. The food is exceptional, the ingredients are the best of the best and beyond fresh. I really hope they thrive, as they should. -The guy with the Michelada who ate 3 rolls and an appetizer.

I booked Fuego Sushi as an appetizer vendor for my 280 person wedding in February 2025, and they were a pleasure to work with through every step! They were very patient, professional, and responsive throughout the booking and inquiry process. We visited in person to try out sushi rolls and they answered all our questions and made wonderful suggestions to help maximize our event. Our guests loved every roll and the entire live sushi experience, from kids to elders, everyone loved it. I highly recommend them for any event, you will love it and so will all your guests :)

I had the pleasure of trying this new spot at Urban market in old town. Chef Isaac recommended the special rolls and it was so tasty. We also try the baked lemon roll and let me tell you that roll was so delicious really recommend.

I've been here a couple of times - once when it opened and once for a work team outing. The food is DELICIOUS, the presentation is BEAUTIFUL, and the service is 10/10. Highly recommend this location for sushi lovers looking for a great ambiance and relaxed vibe.

The sushi here is seriously amazing! We got the mango roll, the psycho roll and the Fuego roll. All of them were 10 out of 10! We also got the tuna tatiki which was very good. The service was fantastic, and the drinks were awesome as well.

Perfect balance of food for each roll. Service was great, you would be surprised of this little hidden jam.

Fantastic reasonably priced sushi rolls in a wonderful setting! The menu has a small but really creative selection of rolls with a real variety, and wonderfully fresh fish! And the staff is super nice as well. And the view is stunning! Right in the center of old town, you get a wonderful view of the area. Also if you care about Covid, all the seating is outdoors, and more than distant enough to be safe.

My coworkers love the sushi here so I decided to try it and I was not disappointed in the slightest. I was immediately greeted and given a menu. The servers consistently checked in on us and took our order promptly, I got the Fuego roll as well as a chef's choice hand roll. Not only was the hand roll STUFFED with amazingly soft tuna but the Fuego roll had quite possibly the best flavor combination I have had from a special roll at a sushi restaurant. On top of that, the eel sauce is made in-house and was absolutely KILLER. I could really tell just how much care was put into the food and service here. It made for an all around extremely pleasant dining experience.

Fuego Sushi in Old Town is my new favorite sushi spot! The quality and flavor exceeded my expectations. The outdoor patio on a warm summer evening pairs well with an ice cold Sapporo. Can't wait to go back!

Summer roll, hamachi and tuna nigiri melts in your mouth, so fresh, excellent! Service was very very warm and friendly. Outdoor seating was very clean and comfortable.

So many amazing choices and every one was AMAZING. The Fuego, the Baja, the Summer, the Tuna Takati were ALL so beautiful and so fresh and so tasty. This place is DEFINITELY a lace we'll come back for.
