Yelp
I was attracted to the fact that this restaurant has both vegan and non-vegan options specified on the menu. This makes it a great option for me (a vegan) to go out to eat with non-vegans at a commonplace. Not only are they careful with keeping vegan/non-vegan meals separate in the kitchen prep, but they also designate gluten free options on the menu and take care to ensure no cross-contamination.
Service: The service was spotty, depended on who came by. Our waitress in particular was so understanding, upbeat, and didn't seem bothered when we accidentally spilled a water. A different server, on the other hand, looked at spill, saw us scattering, and ignored it while we sat with a soaking table/food. He also wasn't sure what was inside my vegan pastelito, which always concerns me when employees don't know the menu.
Food: The food was also just so-so. I really liked the amount of options available - for vegans and non-vegans alike! I ordered the Yucca Fries, Vegan Veggie Pastelitos, and the S'mores Plantains dessert.
--Yucca Fries: YOU HAVE TO get this if you come here. It comes with a (non-dairy) garlic ranch that makes an already amazing dish even more irresistible. The exterior of the fries are lightly crisp with such a soft, melt-in-your-mouth interior. Very unique.
--Vegan Veggie Pastelitos: To explain easiest, this is like an empanada, but with a flaky dough instead. Like a savory puff pastry. I found the exterior to be dry and didn't really enjoy this. The insides were carrots, red peppers, eggplant? (which I truthfully had a scare, thinking it was bacon), and some other vague vegetables they never quite described for me. This is a pass.
--S'mores Plantains dessert: Wow okay. I don't know how to describe this except for "interesting" and you should try it. It's great! It's literally just their normal sweet plantains side item but with a vegan marshmallow topping and chocolate chips. I'm into it.
Ambiance: I went with a friend and it was nice and casual. But I could also see this being a cute, nicer setting for a date. Nothing super fancy, but it's nicer than a lot of places. The music plays somewhat loud, but not to an annoyance. You can sit inside or outside as you choose.
Price: Although the food was good, it's honestly not worth the cost. I paid $20 before tip...for 2 small sides and a dessert... My friend paid around the same for her 1 entrée (although, this was more food).
It was great to try once, but my curiosity is content and I wouldn't return because of the cost/value balance.
