"There is no debating Fuel City’s importance to Dallas’ taco scene. In 2006 Texas Monthly named this 24-hour gas station-zoo’s mushy picadillo taco, as the Lone Star State’s pre-eminent tortilla-based parcel, thus cementing Dallas’ place on Texas’ taco landscape. More than a decade, the walk-up, cash-only taqueria’s hasn’t seemed to change a lick, which makes Fuel City the place to go to taste how far Dallas’ taco scene has transformed. It’s also where you go to nosh on the undervalued category of drunk tacos, be it at the original spot or the other three outposts. Your taste buds are shot anyway." - José R. Ralat

Google
I used to eat burritos here, but not anymore, i pay for a pastor burrito. Instead, i just get lettuce and cheese just that nothing else that just bs for a 8.50 small burrito they used to be good but i guess no more

Google
Cool truck stop. Quesadilla was very good Also has a sandwich place and little Caesars inside. Taco spot is cash only. Has a giant selection of drinks

Blacob Dobalina

Google
First time I’ve had the tacos from this location. They were solid. Wish I would gotten 4 instead of 3. Little pricy but solid.

Google
The car wash is great I have to say that. The one big complaint, why don't you put prices on your stuff in your store, it's ridiculous. Makes absolutely no sense that you do that. I like to know what I'm going to pay for stuff before I take it to the register and I think a lot of other people like that too. ***** So here's five stars for the car wash. One star for the store!!

jason blount

Google
Good truck stop. Tacos are amazing! Had the breakfast burrito. Worth it for sure. They only accept cash, which is a downside.

Lexis Bradford

Google
This used to be a favorite spot. No longer. I purchased 3 chicken, 3 steak tacos and a steak burrito. $26... not bad. Got to work, took a bit and the steak could've been used to plug a hole in your tire or made a new one. To say Dry is to be kind. I took it back and they would not remake it because I had taken a bite out of it. Well... how else would I know if i hadnt taken a bite?. The response was a shrug and a I'm sorry. Well me too. Service killed it for me. I would've taken a picture but I just left it with them...I couldn't eat it

Google
Truthfully, I go because of the car wash. I know they like the tacos, but I'm Mexican and know where to go for those. The car wash is great, and they always do a fantastic job. Be sure to get the monthly car wash. You'll make yourself go more often. It's fantastic having a clean car. (Wouldn't let me post my car with the blurry plate)

Google
Two years later--- Still clean, bright, lots of selections..... wish their were prices listed on the snacks. 2yrs ago- Yea it was clean, spacious with good lighting.

Yelp
If you're looking for late night tacos then look no further. This is a walk up, order and go spot. I love their barbacoa tacos!!! I usually get about 6 and my fiancé gets a mix of chicken and pork and loves them too. The only thing I suggest is ask for light onions because they PILE them on so HEAVY and it's a big much. Highly recommend!

Laura P.

Yelp
Sometimes you just need a Fuel City taco or three, and for us that day was today! I had a carne Al pastor, barbacoa, and Picadillo taco, and my dining companion has a beef fajita and barbacoa taco with a small elote. Each item was of course muy delicioso! Fuel City's barbacoa is so tender, slightly smoky, and comforting - it's a go-to for me, the best in Dallas. Ditto the Picadillo - never bland, always perfectly seasoned - simple and awesome. 5 when you gotta have a great taco, come to Fuel City stars

Amram A.

Yelp
Employees always with bad attitude!!! (The cashier) like this evening ..... ......

Robbie R.

Yelp
Pretty good tacos. I would come back here soon. I'll be happy when they take card lol

Shavannah H.

Yelp
Tacos were a bit expensive for just 4, but it did indeed hit the spot and it was made with speed. Juicy and fresh chicken corn tortilla tacos.

Matthew S.

Yelp
Haven't been by fuel city to get any tacos in a while, so I figured I'd stop by. It had been a while and unfortunately the quality has gone down. Since when did they start giving you prepackaged salsa? Barbacoa was dry and lacked flavor. Hopefully I just hit it on an off day.

Ebonicia I.

Yelp
The time is 8:16am. This location opens at 8:00am. People are patiently waiting. Employees are here but they are closed waiting on a manager to open up. We have been waiting for over 20 min for a car wash. I wanted to start my day early. I usually have a pleasant experience at this location. However, I've wasted a lot of time this morning. It's 8:23 now and still closed. 8:28 closed and still waiting.

Sara M.

Yelp
Go for the food! Bathrooms are clean too. Pastor Tacos and Elote NEVER disappoint. All day, everyday! So good!!

Caresa P.

Yelp
Breakfast tacos are trash!! I never had minced bacon, egg and potato taco! Would not recommend breakfast

E.l. J.

Yelp
Just came for the tacos! They never disappoint! I tried the elote and it was not good. My only gripe with this place is that they don't cards. Cash only! Smh

Joe B.

Yelp
Not nearly as good as the original location downtown. Slooooow service even when traffic is light. Taste isn't as good. It's ok, but that's it. No better.

Aaliyah W.

Yelp
1st Visit: 2 pastor & 2 barboca tacos 2nd Visit: 3 barboca & 2 pastor tacos. The tacos have been fresh & not skimped on in regards to meat & toppings. The green & red sauce on the side is a bit spicy but a nice touch for the tacos. Maybe next time I'll give the elote a try but we will see. However, I do think the pricing for the tacos should be cheaper they aren't just all of that for almost $2. Another note, I always heard Fuel City is packed on weekend nights but the times I've went they weren't packed at all. Furthermore, anyone who is new to Dallas or just visiting, its quite normal to hear people talking about Fuel City. Of course everyone has mixed reviews, as for my self Fuel City hasn't disappointed me. I don't live in the area so it won't be a usual go-to spot but until I find a better place, I'll venture over when in the area.

K M.

Yelp
Girls at the counter inside are awful. Force you buy something - won't give cash back. Once they close the register, won't open it back up to break a $20 from atm after you pay $3.50 in atm fee

Ashley L.

Yelp
I'm not the gas station restaurant type, but the tacos were authentic and flavorful. The beef taco on corn tortilla with cilantro and onion was super tasty and tacos are 1.62 each, which seemed fair. There is a separate line for tacos than for elotes(corn) which is a reduction in star quality. It wasn't the most convenient placing the order. Cash only. Also, the elotes was a bit bland to me. However, it may be relative. To give you an idea, my favorite elotes is from velvet taco.

Kevin S.

Yelp
Stopped in and got 3 barbacoa and 2 chicken tacos... They only cost $1.62 each...Service is very fast.. They will literally be ready in minutes s... The chicken were good but the barbacoa were fantastic! The beef melts in your mouth and it's perfectly seasoned.. It has a wonderful flavor! I ended up going back inside and getting 2 more barbacoa and a side of corn along with some carrot cake lol... Needless to say I am now full... They have lots of choices for cakes.. The carrot cake was pretty decent... The corn, however was not good at all imo... I got the cheesey cayenne corn and it really lacked any flavor at all, and the cheese was a odd rubbery texture lol... That being said the tacos were the bomb so I'm giving this place 5 stars....just stay away from the corn... In fact run from it.. Run Forest run, lol...

Carlton C.

Yelp
Consistent, low priced, simple and oh so tasty! Fuel City Tacos always pleases the palate and is a reliable place for street tacos. My favs are barbacoa and al pastor, but the beef, chicken and fajita are also very good. Don't feel like a taco? Opt for the huge burrito or quesadilla, which also are taste bud pleasers. Don't forget to ask for a complimentary grilled jalapeño and onions. Enjoy :-)

Joe R.

Yelp
Fuel City is fine, but the taco shop inside Fuel City is the bomb. 5 star reviews should be based on quality of food and service vs cost, and you can't beat a $1.78 taco! Fast service, tasty tacos, and they serve breakfast tacos all day! I wish there was one closer.

Davis C.

Yelp
I went to Fuel City based on a YouTube video from Texas Bucket List. TBL touted amazing tacos. And the video seemed to show generous portions. I was sadly disappointed. I got a small, drab, tasteless taco for $2.50. I got what I paid for. BTW, what the video never mentions is this is cash only, so buyer beware, leave the cc at home. I'm a little sadder, a little wiser, and again reminded that many food videos are posted by people who have no taste.

Chanda J.

Yelp
Always fresh made to order and it's open 24 hours. Hands down the best authentic street taco in the Mesquite area.

Thane K.

Yelp
The store itself is fine but the carwash is horrible. They have the rudest employees working in the carwash and the management is just as bad if not worse. I was at this location yesterday to get my car washed and I opted for the hand dry and wheel cleaning. After I was done with the wash I sat in line forever while they had two people working to dry cars and do wheels. The kept skipping over my car so I asked one of the employees why they weren't finishing my car. The response I got from another employee, not even the one I was asking, was "fuck you." I said excuse me, and asked the foul mouthed employee his name and then the response was "get the fuck out of here." I went around to the entry of the car wash to see if there was a manager or someone I could talk to and of course no one to be found. I went inside the store and explained what happened and the lade that claimed to be a manager said she wasn't responsible and I would need to talk to the car wash manager who was out but would be back the next day. Pretty horrible service and really bad reflection on this business when a "manager" won't take responsibility. The car wash employees and manager both need to have a lesson in customer service. I complained on Fuel City's main website but that does no good either.

Joseph B.

Yelp
Tacos are always consistently good. The stop itself is really clean and has a lot of food and drink options. I wish they wouldn't have replaced the pie shop with Caesar's Pizza. I feel like it's a step backwards. I loved getting the roasted almonds.

Rosio H.

Yelp
I bit into it and there was a hair on it. I was so shocked idk know what to do. The cashier let me get another cake but couldn't stop thinking of the hair won't be able to eat it. Was wanting a quesadilla but only accept cash

Tia R.

Yelp
I had no idea there was a Fuel City in Mesquite! I was pleasantly surprised when my daughter asked to go. We got our usual beef fajita tacos with no limes. The wait was minimal and the gentleman that took my order was very pleasant. The food. It was very good. I should've asked for light fresh onions and more cooked onions. Other than that I wouldn't have changed anything. I will definitely go back to this location.

Christina S.

Yelp
My first time trying the legendary tacos. They did live up to the hype. I tried the egg and chorizo, pastor, and fajita. Delicious. They only accept cash so that's not ideal, but this is a really cool gas station.

Richard G.

Yelp
Fuel city is pretty good. Its always open and that's good for when you are out late and don't want fast food. Bring cash because that's all they accept. Burritos are my favorite. The Elotes is wonderful. No drive through but there is a walk up window outside and a counter inside. Drinks and chips can be purchased in the gas station.

CR J.

Yelp
For when you're in the mood for greasy late night tacos. The location is kind of set apart from everything else off of 80 and Town East so you're probably only going to be over there for the tacos. Cash only, generic ATM inside (standard transaction fees apply, so come prepared). I'm a fan of their tacos and not much else. Again it's cheap and local which is all that really matters after a night out. Outdoor covered seating but the area is kind of sketchy and there's always people trying to start a conversation with you which you might not want to engage in after it gets dark out. But I've also met some very interesting fellow taco lovers waiting for my food with some fairly interesting conversations happening in the parking lot: after-all, you can always count friends among those who hear the siren call of street tacos. I always ask for extra limes to juice'n up the meat a bit. The Elotes doesn't taste very fresh. There's always too much water and the corn tastes like it's sourced from frozen packaging (this is a common complaint). Would only go again when I'm craving late night tacos that are reasonable priced.

Lynda J.

Yelp
Cookie Loves Tacos, but this review is dedicated to the hidden gem inside!! The sub sandwich station and Ms. Mary !! The bread is soft as rainy day clouds!! The meat is fresh , veggies delicious and various dressings! My experience today with my husband memorable! we grabbed a sandwich for the road in between running errands. Mary was so sweet and helpful! speaking to every soul that passes by!! I wish her nothing but peace and blessings. Great addition to the staff! After unwrapping this delectable delight , gazing into the two halves like eyes! I dove in head first with out taking a picture! SmH Next time I promise!! Cause I will definitely be back!

Luke W.

Yelp
Massive Fuel City here. The elotes, the only reason I come here, are not made in carts outside like the other Fuel City, but rather inside behind an order window (like the tacos). That's fine. Still cash only. Amazing elotes, massive portions, cheap. So so good. Huge outdoor patio dining area, well covered. Lots of fuel pumps, car wash, etc. The inside has more drinks than you could share with a small town. Epic. It didn't feel as authentic or authentic as the other Fuel City (don't know which location it is as I meant to go there and my GPS routed me here instead) but I got my elotes and that was all I cared about. So yea, if this is close by you can't go wrong stopping in here for some fuel (of any type).

Steph H.

Yelp
Terrible customer service getting elote. "Are you going to order", is how I was addressed. Well, of course I'm going to order, which is why I'm standing at the counter. I thanked the little punk, and he said not a word in return. He was too preoccupied checking his Apple Watch and maybe trying to give off an vibe of "cool". Dude, you're scooping corn...get over yourself. Secondly, air buds?! Certainly he isn't that important he needs to take calls on the job. If they're in for musical purposes, why? It's unprofessional. I understand I'm at a gas station, but this is a job and should be treated accordingly. I'm sure this same guy thinks he's underpaid although he appears to be doing the bare minimum and wants minimum wage increased. The elote cup is full of corn juice and I taste minimal seasoning. I'd recommend the Riverfront or Haltom City location.

Tri T.

Yelp
Order some tacos at Fuel City Taco when i am near the area. Tacos are good and reasonably priced, and the meat quality is ok. It was located so conveniently off I-30, 635 and HWY 80. Not as good as Taco la Baqueta, but it was good.

Shenika M.

Yelp
Best veggie tacos EVER I go about every other day !! Great service!! The corn is great too

Isela V.

Yelp
Definitely a late-night taco fix type of place. Their tacos are pretty standard and their price is fairly comparable to other taco stands. However, depending on what time of day you go, I find that sometimes you get more of an onion and cilantro taco vs meat, which by the way some of their options are: barbacoa, pastor (marinated pork) and fajitas (chicken or meat). You will always find a line but staff keeps it moving fairly quickly. Don't forget your cash as they only tend to cash only orders. Fortunately, they do have an ATM inside the gas station. They have plenty of outside seating but scenery not guaranteed.

Carolyn A.

Yelp
If you drive a fed ex truck and want a place to park your truck, this your spot. Pick a pump and leave. Easily saw a dozen fedex trucks with no driver anywhere. Actually it was eerie, like a dystopian story -- the only human at all those pumps was a lone UPS driver pumping gas into his truck. I was thinking the place was closed or some catastrophe had taken over the world of fuel city until I saw other drivers circling, wondering when one truck would be moved so they could jump in and pump gas. If the reason you're there is to buy gas, this is a don't bother sort of place. Across the street, there's no problem pumping gas at chevron.

Julie B.

Yelp
Busy, busy place! Truck stop/tacos/subs/convenience store/gas station/diesel fuel isle with truck parking, and CAT Scales. Neat stop! Love this place! Very friendly service, and staff. Clean restrooms. Even a gigantic bear greets you when you walk in from the Diesel fuel isle. Kinda takes your breath away! Lol. This place has everything you want. Snacks, beer, soda, coffee, subs, and traditional street type tacos. Love the decor. Seating available inside, and bench seating outside if you want to dine in the Texas sunshine. I would highly recommend Fuel City Tacos/Truck Stop to everyone. Will definitely be back. Cool place!

Ronnie B.

Yelp
When you're hungry AF... craving street tacos you find a 24/7 joint that's close. I've tried Fuel City in Dallas, but this was my first time eating at the Mesquite location. Here's the breakdown.... Location: Easy to find. It's right off the highway which is convenient. Beautiful inside and out. Extremely clean which surprised me with all the traffic that was moving through there. The restaurant had an open floor layout, so the customer's can see everything. It's very clean and neat. Line flow: There are three windows to other from with for lines. Two lines for tacos and Two lines for Elotes(corn) If there's a wait it's due to the person in front of you being undecided about what to order. The employee's move like a well oiled machine. Food: I ordered a steak burrito, medium elotes and steak taco. Burrito: I declined the lettuce and diced jalapeno. Wraps have lettuce not burritos. That's NOT UP FOR DEBATE. LOL The flavors blended together very well. Creamy refried beans, tender steak, warm tortilla shell... etc However the meat was a little salty for my pallet. On both the taco and burrito. Taco: Normal size. Salty meat, but they don't skimp on the meat. It's jam packed with steak, onions and cilantro. Elotes: DELICIOUS as ALWAYS. The lemon pepper seasoning gives it a different taste. But its a welcomed surprise.

Crystal Z.

Yelp
I stop in fuel city weekly just to get the elotes, however today I was beyond disgusted when I got in my car and tried it and it was full of mayonnaise instead of sour cream I don't know what they did to the menu but it completely ruined it and it was a complete waste of five dollars plus tip. I want my money back

Helena S.

Yelp
This location is closer to my house than the OG Downtown Dallas one. It is the exact same, it looks very similar, except that the corn is sold at the window instead of the stand. The area isn't as sketchy like the other, which is filled with shady people trying to beg for money, so that is definitely a plus. Tacos and elotes taste the same to me. & even though it is the 21st century & all, this new location is still CASH ONLY?!?!?!

Sebastian C.

Yelp
Horrible tasting tacos. Tortillas aren't cooked right. Over priced cups of corn as well. And sour. Do not know how they are awarded best tacos in Texas

Denise H.

Yelp
Don't want to cook today!!!!!! Fuel city tacos got you!! Man, I do love these tacos & today was a really fun filled day at the harbor. Tacos will hit the spot for sure.

Ebony O.

Yelp
fuel city never disappoints. the prices are good, the wait isn't long, the tacos always hit even though they're small.

Nine N.

Yelp
I mean great tacos, and well lit. But are we just done with providing receipts at the pump ? I mean it's every time. Imagine I'm a 70 year old woman and that's important to me for my finances because I don't have a iPhone 27. Now I have to walk and battle the masses to get a receipt because "the cashier has it". Help us help you.

Juan D.

Yelp
So in addition to not taking credit cards your ATM only allows you to get out $20 at a time with a $3.25 charge?? My wife had to get out $20 twice and we are never coming there again and fuck you people for being so god damn shitty to your customers.

Barbra F.

Yelp
Tasty tacos plus spicy elotes equals yummy lunch. The hubs and I ordered one of each taco and shared them. I have no idea which was my favorite. Further testing is required. The elotes was nice and spicy. Spent about $11 on lunch is a great deal. The nugget doesn't like tacos so we got him a cheese sub from inside. He liked it but who can screw up a cheese sandwich? Inside the gas station it is slow clean and nice. The service was good too. We'll be back!

Chloe S.

Yelp
Not as good as the one in Dallas. Watered-down green and red salsas. Really really disappointed!!

Shanna G.

Yelp
This place has amazing street styled tacos. I personally like it better than the Dallas location because it's less crowded and there definitely more seating. The wait doesn't take long to get your food and it's always fresh. The pastor is my absolute favorite and of course it's a must to try their elotes!!

Ronnie J.

Yelp
Was in town visiting and decided to stop by here because they were open late it's fresh and awesome and reasonable prices good customer service

Christen M.

Yelp
Fuel City smh everytime I've came here it's been so good. The corn use to be worth the drive! I've never been here and had to complain EVER.... Untill NOW..The tacos are great!! The corn was not... I got a cup full of salty water with corn, it was so salty I ask the lady to remake it, she had an attitude tried to argue with me but finally remade it. She took my cup back in the window and reused it ..she drained the corn this time and put 2 teaspoons of Mayo and cheese needless to say it was the nastiest corn I've ever tasted and went in the trash

Gregory S.

Yelp
Absolutely horrible place to have tacos it is the worst place on earth. They can't make tacos without onions. Don't even come to this place because its horrible. The other fuel city can make tacos without onions. How can you not figure out how to make tacos without onions?

Eli R.

Yelp
Came for the elote but was disappointed... It tasted like it just had cheese and butter The tacos were ok... Not the best I've had but they are probably the best in this area... No comparison to Paisanos on Lombardy though.
