Fufu Kawaguchiko (Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi Prefecture) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Fufu Kawaguchiko’s unique appeal is that every one of its rooms has a direct view of Mt. Fuji. Not bad, to say the least. But there’s more to it than that — in fact a hotel this finely crafted and artfully composed would be hardly less impressive if it faced a generic wooded hillside. The style — and the concept, for that matter — is modern ryokan, which means near-perfect tranquility, eco-friendly operations, natural and organic materials, and private onsen baths. And, of course, it means ultra-local kaiseki cooking, showcasing the finest regional ingredients and celebrating the timeless classics of traditional Japanese cuisine." - Tablet Hotels

My family had a truly memorable experience. The hotel’s serene setting by Mount Fuji creates a perfect retreat, with breathtaking views right from the room. The suite was spacious, elegantly designed, and equipped with a private hot spring bath, adding to the sense of luxury and relaxation. The staff were attentive, courteous, and made me feel genuinely cared for. Dinner and breakfast were beautifully prepared with seasonal ingredients. Highly recommended for a peaceful getaway.

Real luxury hotel We stayed one night and the room was huge. The service was 5 star and the meals were had for dinner and breakfast were lots of little things and varied so you can try a bit of everything. Pretty sure I saw some Michelin star awards in the lobby too. Super relaxing stay and a nice view of Fuji through the trees

All I can say is WOW. My husband and I decided to splurge on a 2-night stay here for our wedding anniversary and everything was absolutely impeccable. The food services (course breakfast and dinner) were amazing, the service and welcoming atmosphere were unmatched, and the rooms and resort itself were so comfortable and beautiful! I couldn’t stop looking at the beautiful furnishings and the vibe overall was just so peaceful. It was worth the price!!! Will definitely want to stay here again!!

What an amazing hotel. Beautiful scenery and wonderful staff, a given in Japan. The room was spacious and having your own onsen was wonderful. We had the tasting menu. We didn’t realise there was no need to dress up as everyone had their spa pjs on! I would have felt so much more comfortable had I known. Waking up and watching the sunrise over mountains Fuji is one experience I will never forget. I wish we had more time at this hotel

Google
Amazing little hotel where you can have your own private Onsen bath with a great view of Mt. Fuji. I have not felt this comfortable in a hotel for a long time. The staff was friendly and attentive, and I have to mention the friendly barkeeper, we tried a lot of his cocktails and they were all great (especially his own creations)! My only critique would be that they serve too much food so I felt bad leaving a lot of it at breakfast, and that there was no option to choose between Japanese or Western style Breakfast (for us it depended on the day). Dinner was also amazing and the service was extremely quick. Will definitely recommend it!

One of the nicest hotels we've stayed in. Beautiful architecture. Every detail is thought-out. Quiet and tucked into hillside with superb views of Mt Fuji. Dinner was fine dining with multiple courses. Traditional Japanese food, but not unapproachable for Western tourists. Getting there was a trek, but worth it. Great place to end a trip to Japan. Relaxing.

We moved from the nearby Hoshinoya to FuFu, the experiences were totally different and we recommend both. FuFu offers traditional Japanese hospitality with a modern touch. Our 2 night stay in the Kozue Precious suite was truly amazing.||We love the design of the public areas filled with greenery. Our room was on the top floor, providing a stunning view of Mt. Fuji. The view from here was quite different from what we saw at Hoshinoya, yet it was equally impressive. We were fortunate to enjoy clear skies right up to our departure day. Our suite included a private onsen bath, so we did not use the public bath. However, we appreciated the complimentary drinks and sweets offered at the entrance, where we made stop a few times on our way back to our room.||The food offered at the restaurant was delightful. We had different menus for both evenings, each meal was sumptuous. Even breakfast was a lavish affair. We tried both Japanese and Western options, and both were excellent. The bonfire in the garden added to the ambience in the evening. Enjoying a delicious cocktail at the bar while watching Mt. Fuji is a moment we will cherish for a long time.||Service was top notch. Many staff members spoke English, making communication easy. Even those with limited English were eager to assist us with anything we needed. It was our first stay with this hotel brand and we were very impressed. We look forward to visiting other FuFu locations in different areas of Japan.

OMG this hotel is rated by us as the best hotel we have ever stayed at. The location and outlook are spectacular….. the room layout design & amenities your top notch. Staff were attentive & highly professional. The public areas were an amazing mix of uber cool design whilst paying homage to the lush forest that surrounds the property. The restaurant offering can only be described as extraordinary… Michelin Star quality. It’s unbelievable value.

Yelp
Fufu is a beautiful resort/hotel near Kawaguchi Lake, overlooking Mt. Fuji. Japan is full of volcanic hot springs and near them, you can find beautiful spa/resorts called 'onsens' where there's usually a public bath with hot spring water constantly pumping in. As if could get any better, your room also has a hot spring tub for private bathing. The public bath here offers free beer, coffee, wine...even popsicles for when you've soaked in hot water too long. Add to that, a big screen tv in the sauna playing the sumo matches so sports fans can stress out over the results, then relieve stress in one convenient location. As you can imagine, onsens are peaceful places where your worries melt away in the hot mineral water and you feel a million miles away from work and stress...until the bill comes. This particular onsen has only been open for a month so everything is fresh and new. The rooms offer free minibar drinks (beer, waters, juices) and snacks, although the premium liquors will cost you a few bucks...but hey, you came this far already...might as well live it up! Included in your stay is a multi-course Japanese dinner and breakfast the next morning. If you don't particularly enjoy Japanese food, call ahead of time and they'll do their best to accommodate you with chicken or beef. The only drawback is that not many staff members speak English, but you can use google translate, etc to ask for what you need. Why no fifth star? As a new business, they are still working out the kinks in their service. For example, other onsens will time their room cleaning/turndown service to when they know you are dining, for maximum efficiency. Also, when we checked in, they didn't really give us a tour of the place, so we had to find the outdoor terrace and indoor bar on our own. And as I mentioned earlier, they really should have a few employees who speak English. But I'm sure they will improve with time. ありがと (Arigato) Fufu for a great visit!
