Fufu Kawaguchiko (Fujikawaguchiko, Yamanashi Prefecture) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Fufu Kawaguchiko’s unique appeal is that every one of its rooms has a direct view of Mt. Fuji. Not bad, to say the least. But there’s more to it than that — in fact a hotel this finely crafted and artfully composed would be hardly less impressive if it faced a generic wooded hillside. The style — and the concept, for that matter — is modern ryokan, which means near-perfect tranquility, eco-friendly operations, natural and organic materials, and private onsen baths. And, of course, it means ultra-local kaiseki cooking, showcasing the finest regional ingredients and celebrating the timeless classics of traditional Japanese cuisine." - Tablet Hotels

One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at. We liked it so much and wanted to change the rest of all our trip accommodations all to Fufus. The hotel has such a good nature/wood/forest theme and it blends into all the details from lobby to rooms to food to the smell of every corner of the hotel. Every staff was super warm and nice. We loved the ever flowing onsen and our patio in the room. Amazing view of Mt Fuji. It was hard to leave. Food was marvelous both breakfast and dinner. Michelin 2 star level for sure. Definitely a hotel we would come back to over and over again.

Stayed at FuFu Kawaguchiko for two nights, and it felt far too short. Time really flies when the stay is this enjoyable. We arrived after 4pm, just as the sun was setting behind Mt Fuji. Check-in was quick and efficient, but we unfortunately missed the sunset. To make up for it, we woke up early to catch the sunrise on both mornings. The sky was slightly bright just before 6am, although every app we used informed us that it was a quarter past 6am, a point to note for those chasing the sunrise. The frontal view of Mt. Fuji from our room was magnificent, striking yet not overwhelming. I had stayed across the lake before where Fuji appears much larger, but that proximity came with an almost deafening silence from being too close to the mountain. Service was top-notch, professional, efficient, and thoughtful. Most of our interactions were with Southeast Asian staff who spoke excellent English, a smart approach on the hotel’s part. The Japanese staff also spoke English, though we had fewer conversations with them because they were constantly bowing and thanking us, even when entering the lift. Their consistency was truly impressive. We were fortunate to try breakfast, lunch, and dinner, sampling both Japanese and Western menus during our stay. We felt the chef particularly excelled with beef dishes, which we looked forward to every time. We were less confident about the seafood, especially the sashimi. Almost every dish had a small bone, scale, or connective tissue. We chose not to make a fuss since the rest of the meal was otherwise excellent. Overall, we sincerely enjoyed our stay and would strongly recommend FuFu Kawaguchiko to anyone seeking a luxurious getaway.

I stayed at FUFU Kawaguchiko for one night, and it was truly unforgettable. The staff were warm, attentive, and made us feel cared for from the moment we arrived. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, with calming details and a peaceful atmosphere that instantly put us at ease. Our room had a stunning view of Mt. Fuji, and waking up to that sight felt surreal. We also used the electric bikes to explore the town, which was such a fun and convenient way to see the area. One of the biggest highlights of the stay was the hotel bar. The bartender was incredibly kind, welcoming, and genuinely talented. He created some of the most delicious drinks I’ve ever had, and the experience felt personal and special in a way you don’t find often. Even though we were only there for one night, FUFU Kawaguchiko left a lasting impression. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, relaxing, and memorable stay.

We stayed at FuFu Kawaguchiko for one night, and it was the best hotel experience we have ever had. From the moment our taxi arrived until we departed the hotel on the next day, the service staff were phenomenal throughout. Good balance of taking care of our needs while giving us privacy. The check-in process was handled by the staff while we seating at the lobby drinking tea. Then we were brought to our room, which was on the 3rd floor. The room was clean, spacious, luxurious, and beautifully decorated. A lot of wood elements in the room perfectly fit in the outside environment. Many complimentary drinks in the mini fridge including water with Mt. Fuji lava rocks (we ended up buying a box from the store). Private onsen was very clean, the onsen temperature was a bit too high for us but we were able to add cold water, not sure if that’s possible if we were in the public onsen. We had a dinner meal and a breakfast meal. Both are excellent. The dining room was public but the setting made it feel private. The nine course dinner was a great experience of Japanese cuisine. Each dish was well crafted by the chef, perfect in both tastes and presentation. We came here for the view, and it did not disappoint us. We were lucky to have the perfect visibility of Mt. Fuji during our stay. Waking up to the view of woods, Lake Kawaguchi, and Mr. Fuji really felt like living in a dream. I would like to come back again in winter time for a different view. The only complaint we have was the chair/couch near the window. Its cushion slides very easily, makes it difficult to relaxing on it without having to adjust the cushion all the time. A 10/10 experience. It was a highlight of our trip in Japan!

Quite disappointed, my stay was for my wife’s birthday and I have requested for a birthday cake to be delivered 30 minutes after my check in time, and with one candle. My request was sent two weeks before my stay. It seemed they completely forgotten my request and delivered the cake nearly one hour after my check in time, and came with six candles. Hoped they take customers’ request seriously. Food was great tho, both breakfast and dinner impressed me.

Had THE BEST experience at Fufu Kawaguchiko, the room was amazing, booked the corner room it was so clean and nice, the amenities was top notch, and the private outdoor onsen looking over Mt Fuji was definitely the cherry on top! The Breakfast and Dinner was above our expectation, when they say they provide dinner I thought it will be the Buffet style but omg, we had FULL course for 3 whole nights (and the menu is different everyday! even breakfast), but i think what really make us wants to come back to this place is the staff, every single one of them was so so so helpful and understanding. I had 2 crying toddlers at dinner and instead of being told to lower their voice, the staff came and keep trying to entertain the kids, bring drawings, toys, ipad (LOL) and the manager asked if we want the food to come out faster, sooo accomodating (because we just arrived that morning on red eye flight, so both kids were super tired), Au-chan definitely went above and beyond in accomodating us, super helpful and kind! And another Indonesian staff that serve us at dinner and breakfast (sorry I didn't catch the name but he was superrr nice too!) Thank you so much for being so kind to our family and made our stay so comfortable, HIGHLY recommend this place is anyone looking for a comfortable stay at Kawaguchiko, we will definitely come back!

My family had a truly memorable experience. The hotel’s serene setting by Mount Fuji creates a perfect retreat, with breathtaking views right from the room. The suite was spacious, elegantly designed, and equipped with a private hot spring bath, adding to the sense of luxury and relaxation. The staff were attentive, courteous, and made me feel genuinely cared for. Dinner and breakfast were beautifully prepared with seasonal ingredients. Highly recommended for a peaceful getaway.

We were a little disappointed with Fufu mainly because of bad connectivity issues with WiFi and strictness in protocol. The meals provided were all multi-course and definitely suit people who enjoy slow gourmet meals. On one of the mornings we were there, the lady called us and asked us for our plans for the day in specific detail just so they could allocate a 90 min time slot to clean the room. For a holiday that feels like it’s supposed to be relaxing, this is quite strange. She had us on the phone for exactly 4 minutes reminding us of things we had booked and not to be late for them(we were never late for the activity we booked) The design of the room was not great, they occupy every free corner of the room with plants or unnecessary furniture and there was absolutely no space to unpack suitcases or store clothes. Even the lobby looked super crowded with all the plants. Not my aesthetic We had our own onsen in the room which was nice When that said, we appreciate Aurelia, Miyura and Yuto for their exceptional service during our stay.

Yelp
Throw in a good view of Mt. Fuji and fine dining level of service, and you'll have yourself a perfect experience. There are a lot of good things to say about this hotel. The resort is simply beautiful. I wish we had more time to explore this location. We also didn't make use of their public onsen areas since each room has their own. We did raid their fridge for the Yasugatake Milk though - perfect drink after a nice long soak. It is easily the highlight of our trip even though we are still exploring Japan.

Yelp
Fufu is a beautiful resort/hotel near Kawaguchi Lake, overlooking Mt. Fuji. Japan is full of volcanic hot springs and near them, you can find beautiful spa/resorts called 'onsens' where there's usually a public bath with hot spring water constantly pumping in. As if could get any better, your room also has a hot spring tub for private bathing. The public bath here offers free beer, coffee, wine...even popsicles for when you've soaked in hot water too long. Add to that, a big screen tv in the sauna playing the sumo matches so sports fans can stress out over the results, then relieve stress in one convenient location. As you can imagine, onsens are peaceful places where your worries melt away in the hot mineral water and you feel a million miles away from work and stress...until the bill comes. This particular onsen has only been open for a month so everything is fresh and new. The rooms offer free minibar drinks (beer, waters, juices) and snacks, although the premium liquors will cost you a few bucks...but hey, you came this far already...might as well live it up! Included in your stay is a multi-course Japanese dinner and breakfast the next morning. If you don't particularly enjoy Japanese food, call ahead of time and they'll do their best to accommodate you with chicken or beef. The only drawback is that not many staff members speak English, but you can use google translate, etc to ask for what you need. Why no fifth star? As a new business, they are still working out the kinks in their service. For example, other onsens will time their room cleaning/turndown service to when they know you are dining, for maximum efficiency. Also, when we checked in, they didn't really give us a tour of the place, so we had to find the outdoor terrace and indoor bar on our own. And as I mentioned earlier, they really should have a few employees who speak English. But I'm sure they will improve with time. ありがと (Arigato) Fufu for a great visit!

Yelp
We came here for diner and it was one of the best that we had so far! Love this place, next time we will stay here for sure!!
