Below average dining experience at Fugetsu, which is located inside of Rokko. The okonomiyaki dishes looked good for pictures, but taste wasn’t as good as expected. Service was slow, and the parking was very difficult to find. Tables sizes are small and sticky from beer…not going back.

Google
The okonomiyaki here was so good! I highly recommend the gyusuki since it comes with lots of gyudon beef slices over the cabbage pancake.

Came with a group of friends. We ordered the okonomiyaki, two of us got the combo sets, and others entrees. The food was large portion and very delicious. The 6pc nigiris were huge. The okonomiyaki has a lot of meat on it and an egg. We would come here again.

5/28/2025, not crowded. Slightly over cooked Modanyaki.

They were decent busy for a Sunday. The food looks good but very salty so we can’t quite finish them The rice in the sushi roll was good. We had to flag down the server to get water.

Overall it's a good experience and the good is unique it's own category. The business specializes in Japanese pancakes, Okonomiyaki, and a few other specific side dishes. Wait list can be long as the business is small and gets busy really fast. I would recommend coming in early right when it opens as the business is not your usual 9 to 5 hours of operation; it opens around 5 30 pm. Portion and quality of the dish is good, a bit saucey and hidden meat portions with a large portion of vegetables. If you like to eat, I would say it's just enough for you to be content a for the duration of your stay. However, if you wanted to eat another dish, you can easily order another without getting too full. Service was lacking as the waiters and waitress' had to perform multiple roles to ensure customer service. However, being that the place is busy, they overlook the basic service of asking the customer the quality of the meal, refilling water, and having ready to-go containers of any left overs. I felt the establishment lacked service, thus 1 star taken away. I would come again but given the circumstances of their limited hours, long wait times, and somewhat small portions - in my perspective, I'm not too inclined to make this my priority. Was a good experience.

I went to this place for a pre birthday celebration with my parents! It was pretty empty when we went in on a 6:30 pm on Tuesday but filled up so quickly after that that we had to have a reservation to get a seat! Food: I loved the pancake items they had - I got the house special and the seafood special! I definitely preferred the house special since it had a good balance of sweet and savory. We also got the taiyaki dessert which had the perfect cool finish to the meal! Service: The staff here are good at their job and super super kind. They were patient and you see your food made in front of you! Ambiance: A more upscale casual place! A truly unique and fun experience to be had! Make sure to ask about the yelp special!

Google
Okonomiayki was good but takoyaki I found was mostly dough on some pieces....

Yelp
If you've got an okonomiyaki craving then this place will hit the spot for sure. - we got the cheese and pork one, and another beef one with yakisoba noodles on top - overall taste and flavors were pretty solid and the portions are large - tip: it takes ~25 minutes for the okonomiyaki to come out so keep that in mind when ordering! - this place is also in another restaurant but you can order from both! - service was fairly solid although a friend had to ask for water a few times

Yelp
I don't think there's a lot of places in the Bay to grab okonomiyaki, and I definitely didn't expect to find Fugetsu inside another restaurant? Shoutout to the tips in other reviews saying Fugetsu's menu is being served at Rokko! I got the regular seafood okonomiyaki not knowing there wouldn't be any noodles in it because I'm that bad at reading the menu...oops. The okonomiyaki was still good though, and it had the saucy richness you want after a long day. The deluxe okonomiyaki was definitely better thanks to the egg and pork belly! Pork belly was flavorful and nicely crispy on the edges. Service was decent, and you can tell this is the kind of place you go to for drinks and shareable plates. Overall, okonomiyaki was enjoyable!

Yelp
I've been craving okonimiyaki for a while and was recommended this place by a friend. Food came out fast and service was great. The karaage was okay, the meat was a bit juicy, the sauce was mild and forgetable. The spicy tuna was pretty good. We got a Sapporo tower, which was pretty fun, and that was around 8 glasses of beer for us. I ordered a Negi-Tsukimi Modanyaki, which definitely sated my craving! It was exactly what I was looking for. The noodles were a bit heavy, so I might get a normal okonimiyaki next time. My friend thought it had too much sauce for his taste, but it was perfect for me. The atmosphere was pretty chill, it had a lively vibe when we were there.

Yelp
They offer family platters for 2-3 and 4-5 people. I don't know why more restaurants don't do this. It's a great way to try a bunch of their popular dishes and not over or under order. Although, I've never been one to under order. Anyways, we got the B platter for 2-3 people, then added a karaage appetizer to it as well. There were 3 people in our group and just a few leftovers. Everything but the takoyaki was pretty decent. Takoyaki was all filling. It's just not a great takeout item I think. Otherwise, they have a sign on the door but the main door is advertising another restaurant. All signage in the space is of them too so you only know it's Fugestsu if you ask the staff. Anyways, aside from the slight confusion picking the food up, the group really liked it.

Casidy C.

Yelp
Decent spot for okonomiyaki! I was craving okonomiyaki and I feel not many places in the Bay specialize in it. I ordered a regular seafood okonomiyaki and it was delicious- the pieces of seafood were large and fresh tasting, paired really well with the pancake. I've had better okonomiyaki elsewhere, but this still satisfied my craving! Towards the end of the meal it did feel pretty salty, and the pancake maybe could have been a bit crispier or more solidly formed(?). But otherwise it was a yummy meal, and not too pricy! It comes out on a hot cast iron plate and at first I thought it looked a bit small but it was actually a perfect portion. Staff was friendly and attentive, restaurant interior is pretty clean but did feel a bit dimly lit. Parking is kinda busy since it's downtown Sunnyvale, and other reviews mention it too but it's located in Rokko's Japanese cuisine, the signage outside doesn't say Fugetsu.

Elizabeth C.

Yelp
This place is combined with Rokko, but there's no indication of that other than the menu posted outside the door, so just enter Rokko to save yourself the confusion! We went on a Saturday night and were seated within 10 minutes. I was pretty excited to go here, as not many places serve okonomiyaki, but ended up being pretty disappointed. Karaage (3/5): the portion is actually pretty big, but the karaage itself was whatever. It comes with a bed of sliced cabbage and the smallest dollop of mayo, so we ended up asking for more mayo. Negi Mayo Takoyaki (2/5): this was some of the saddest takoyaki i've ever eaten. they were dense and gummy with barely any octopus inside and the outside was not crisp at all. the balls were more like flattened ovals. we should've just gotten the regular takoyaki because this didn't come with takoyaki sauce or bonito so it was kind of bland. Cheetama Pork Okonomiyaki Modan-style (3/5): this was pretty dense, and i felt like they poured too much batter in, so the texture of the cabbage was lost. it wasn't very crispy on the bottom either, and overall it just tasted too salty. Overall, Fugetsu serves pretty large portions and has a very interesting menu, but unfortunately the food fell flat. The flavors felt like too much or too little, and the textures were all wrong. I wouldn't come back nor recommend it :(

Yelp
I've never tried okonomiyaki so I wanted to try this place out. This place is in a restaurant called Rokko so it almost made us miss the place when driving by since the outside sign only displays Rokko. The menu had lots of options to choose from as it's 2 restaurants in one: Rokko and Fugetsu. Shrimp & Veggie Tempura: 4.5/5 A great variety of shrimp and assorted veggies! Very generous and included 4 shrimp tempura. Very fresh and crispy. Okonomiyaki Sampler: 3.5/5 4 mini okonomiyaki which includes Ebi mayo, Negi-tsukimi pork and Gyusuki negitama, and Cheese. The shredded cabbage base sort of reminds me of hash browns. Wish we got the noodle version AKA modanyaki! Service was amazing, our server was so friendly and was constantly checking up on our table! I'll come back to try the modanyaki next time! Check this place out if you want to try okonomiyaki!

Cindy C.

Yelp
Fugetsu is essentially combined with Rokko in downtown Sunnyvale, and even the menus for the two places are combined into one big menu. We've tried the food from Rokko in the past but decided to try Fugetsu's okonomiyaki and yakisoba this time around! There was no wait to sit at the bar at around 6:30pm on a Friday (table would have been a ~20 minute wait according to the host). Service was prompt and our food also came out in a reasonable amount of time, especially since the menu says to expect a 20-30 min wait for okonomiyaki and modanyaki. We tried the negi-tsukimi pork modanyaki (noodles on top of okonomiyaki) and the gyusuki yakisoba. The modanyaki came with green onions and an egg on top, and it was delicious. The flavors worked well together, the green onions added a nice freshness, and I really liked the crispy noodles on top! The yakisoba was also fantastic and the beef it came with was nice and tender. Portions were quite sizable and we had some leftovers to take home with us too!

Yelp
Okay just a heads up --- this place is "inside" rokko Japanese restaurant I was so confused because I was looking for fugetsu signage. And when I mean "inside," i mean it's one restaurant. The menu for fugetsu is the back page of the menu of rokko. Same kitchen, dining space etc. you can also order from rokko while dining fugetsu and vice versa. I talked to the clerk at the front and he clarified with me about the closing of the Santa Clara location and moved it to this Sunnyvale location. My friend and I got two okonomiyaki -- my friend got the ebi mayo cheese okonomiyaki and I got the seafood okonomiyaki. It came out on sizzling plates and a utensil to cut our food. I liked that it came out hot with a slight char on some of the cabbage. Last time I had fugetsu, the sauce was too much and too saucey for me, but I'm glad that this time it was a good balance. The flavor is like a less sweet and not as thick version of teriyaki sauce. There were plenty seafood options in mine, such as scallop, shrimp and squid. I'm glad they didn't skimp. My friend said her okonomiyaki was good, but after awhile it was too cheesy. Lots of shrimp though Each okonomiyaki was about $17-$20 We were satisfied with our meal and it left enough room for a milk tea after. But if you are a bigger eater, I would suggest an appetizer to share.

Kristen B.

Yelp
**NOTE: This location is INSIDE Rokko Japanese restaurant. I was so confused until I looked on Yelp and saw other reviewers point this out.** If I were to come back here, I would probably only order the Okonomiyaki sampler. I really enjoyed it! The other dishes were good, but it was easy to get tired of the same flavor, and it could be quite heavy to eat a full portion by yourself. I really liked all the flavors the sampler plate offered, and it was easy for my small group to split them up.

Andrew N.

Yelp
I haven't had okonomiyaki in a while and this is the only place in the area that specializes in this dish, let alone serving it at all. The okonmiyaki dishes are like Japanese pancakes, usually served on a table like Benihana. Okonomiyaki sampler (3/5): This dish came with a variety of four types of okonomiyaki, but I forgot each one. I don't know if it's because I didn't get it noodle based, but it didn't taste the way I thought it would. It tasted like a hash brown. Shrimp tempura (5/5): For $13, I was surprised how gods of a value this dish was. With four pieces of shrimp, instead of the traditional 2; it included vegetables like carrots, pumpkin, broccoli, and purple yam. It was perfectly crispy and the tempura sauce was great as well. If you wanna try okonomiyaki, check this place out.

Hye Kyung K.

Yelp
I got shared the steak don and (regular size) beef yakisoba with my partner. The overall taste was good. One thing that could improve it would be charring the yakisoba. We each got a pint of Sapporo draft; next time we wanna come back with friends to get the okonomiyaki and Sapporo tower. The price is a bit high for the amount of food but it's understandable as all the restaurant in dt sunnyvale are slightly overpriced. The service was good and fast as they were not that busy.

Christine S.

Yelp
Favorite spot to go to for okonomiyaki and skillet rice dishes! The portion sizes are great for sharing, and you can choose whether you want modan (or noodles) added to your okonomiyaki for a couple extra bucks. I ordered the deluxe meshi, which includes seared salmon, ikura, eel, and a raw egg that comes in a super hot bowl so you can mix it up yourself and enjoy the crunchy skillet rice. Service was polite and came by a couple times to refill water - and our food came out in pretty fast despite the dinner crowd. Definitely planning to go again!

Xiaoying S.

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a Tuesday night. We ordered fried chicken cartilage, okonomiyaki, takoyaki and seaweed salad. I really enjoyed all four dishes but got to say the cartilage is better to eat when it's warm. Okonomiyaki was in pretty big serving and we didn't get to finish all the food. It's great to go here on a Tuesday night because after dinner you could go check out the board game night at a bar nearby that's Tuesday only I believe!

Juliet T.

Yelp
Fugetsu is inside of the Japanese restaurant "Rokko", right across Bober Tea! My partner and I stopped by here on a Wednesday night since we wanted an easy dinner, luckily it wasn't too busy and we were seated right away! What we ordered: - Takoyaki (7): This came out steeping hot and the bonito flakes were still moving around when brought to the table! The takoyaki was more on the softer side rather than having that lightly crisp texture on the outside. -Deluxe Okonomiyaki (Modan): Be warned.. this dish is very heavy! My partner and I cut it into fours, and I was only able to finish 1/4 of this. We got the Modan version, which comes with panfried noodles on the bottom. This was a very flavorful and saucy dish. Although I am a sauce person... I do want to note that it was overly saucy/mayo-y for me.

Daphne D.

Yelp
Ordered the family set D (which is $35 pre tax) for Mother's Day, it's only available online, make sure you use their square site to order, if you use doordash or other sites, it will be $37 pre tax. The chicken karage is tender and delicious, I really like it, other food is a little bit too salty in my opinion, but my parents like them.

Thanh T.

Yelp
Came on a friday night and it was buuuusy. It is also pretty much combined with Rokko so we were confused at first trying to find it. We were able to get seated after 5 min since we were a party of 2 and opted to sit at the counter instead of a table. If you come here you ha w to get the okonomiyaki!!!! It was sooooo good! Crunchy, saucy, savory! It took a bit to come out but it was worth the wait. Servers came by to refill our water often. We also decided to try the yakisoba. I will probably pass on this next time. It was good but the star here is really the okonomiyaki!

Mary W.

Yelp
This is like a hidden gem in the area! We thought this one was similar to the one in San José, where you just grab and go. However, this is an actual restaurant inside of a restaurant. So they will cook the food on the spot. The inimitable were pretty goods the highlight was the services! Super friendly staff!!

Caili C.

Yelp
Pretty good spot for okonomiyaki! We came here after having a craving for the Japanese street food style okonomiyaki and were a bit confused about the location at first. Note it's inside Rokko which is the only sign on the storefront and shares a menu with it so there's a combination of okonomiyaki, rice bowls, sushi and sashimi and curry rice. It's a bit overwhelming but there's definitely plenty of options available. We ordered the unagi don and house okonomiyaki modan-style (with yakisoba noodles added) and it was enough to share for 2 people. The unagi don was good with a generous amount of unagi on top. The okonomiyaki was the highlight with soft and crispy noodles, shrimp, squid, and pork belly and then a creamy cabbage mix to add a great texture and flavor to the pancake. Definitely a good spot to try if you've never had okonomiyaki or caving Japanese food.

Julianna P.

Yelp
Cheetama Pork Okonomiyaki -- warm, fluffy and delicious! This was served right away, and it came in sizzling! It had a nice cheese pull and the texture with the cabbage was so good all together! Salmon Ikura Meshi -- came on a sizzling plate, so the rice was crunchy afterwards. The bowl came with roe and salmon, this was delicious! The waiter was very accommodating and kept letting us know what place we are in line, very nice service! Also Fugetsu is inside of Rokko, they have the same menu, that was the only confusing part. Either than parking is available on the street and in some nearby lots.

Julia S.

Yelp
We were really craving okonomiyaki so we came here just for it! It's a little confusing because it's located inside of another japanese restaurant but the address listed on yelp is correct so all good! We ordered the chicken karaage, takoyak, and 2 of their okonomiyakis! Let me just say this was A LOT of food for both of us but everything was just so delicious! We really enjoyed the osaka style okonomiyaki with the noodles as a topping, that was definitely a game changer! Definitely give this a try if you're in the area and if you've never had okonomiyaki you're missing out!

Dong Wook C.

Yelp
Okonomiyaki, where have you've been all my life? I wish I could buy a ticket to Japan and try all the different varieties of this dish. It is so scrumptious and delectable. The sauce mixed in with the toppings and the sizzling platter that makes the bottom layer toasty...I am addicted. I ordered the deluxe okonomiyaki and it was sooooo yummy. The seafood and pork were an interesting combination. It's a filling dish and although it does not appear to be very large, I was quite full and ended up with leftovers. This restaurant shares space with Rokko and the staff are very friendly and courteous. The one thing I find a pain is parking in downtown Sunnyvale, especially with the construction. There are parking lots and garages available, street parking as well if you are lucky to find a spot.

YJ L.

Yelp
Waited about 30 minutes to be seated, but Fugetsu was worth the wait! It has a mix of sushi and other Japanese dishes (not sushi-restaurant style). I love how they have entree sets, like bento combos, and their serving size is actually pretty big! -- Food Entree with tonkatsu and shrimp tempura: comes with chicken karaage, miso soup, and rice. Tonkatsu was crispy, sat on a bed of shredded cabbage, and was overall juicy. Deluxe chirashi bowl: comes with a lot of rice; one size only. The fish was decent, and there was a lot of roe. Overall, honestly, too much rice, but at least it was nicely seasoned/flavored. -- Overall, a good bang for my buck, and I would like to come back and try other dishes!

Brianna C.

Yelp
If you're in Sunnyvale and looking for a quick bite, Fugetsu is an extremely solid option. To start, my friends and I ordered the chicken karage and to my surprise, this is one of the few places that actually includes the chicken skin as well! The texture was crispy, but could use a little more meat on the chicken. Now for the star of the show: okonomiyaki. I've never had this dish before but just like other Japanese dishes, you really can't go wrong. I added noodles to mine that helped made the dish a bit more hardy, but honestly, the cabbage fills you up. The sauce is a typical sweet teriyaki sauce and they load up the seafood. Would definitely come back here when I'm in the area, but do know that the food does take a little while to be prepared.

Lawrence C.

Yelp
Tough place to find, it's actually inside a restaurant called Rokko. The sampler Okonomiyaki plate was really nice in that you get different flavors with different Okonomiyakis. Probably the best bet imo because although the Pork Okonomiyaki was pretty tasty, but it was a bit one dimensional in terms of flavor. I did enjoy the the noodles on top and liked the extra carbs which made it feel more balanced. The carpaccio had really nice thick slices of fish, but could maybe use a bit more sauce.

Tim H.

Yelp
I was excited to try this place since I will be going to Japan this year but nothing went well. Located inside Rokko (their a combined business) I walked in to order takeout at 6:45 pm Fri, the order took 45 mins. They are busy and a bit short staffed. I asked for sauce on the side in case it gets too salty, they forgot my sauce Pork Okonomiyaki $15: no clue where the pork was. The entire pancake had 1 tiny fatty piece of pork that I spat out anyway. It was literally a cabbage and egg batter pancake. Decent size, but no meat. Rip off Gyusuki Modanyaki $23.50: this had a good portion of beef/grilled onions and noodles on top of the usual pancake. The beef was like 75% fat though. I didn't eat most of it. I asked for no egg. Nothing special about the noodles, just regular thick chow mein noodles Total came out to $42 for mostly cabbage and egg batter. While it did taste good and had a nice crispy top layer, it was terrible value for mostly vegetables. The portion size was fine but men will likely need more food if they only eat 1. The Modanyaki is basically just basic noodles added to Okonomiyaki. Definitely skippable. Definitely not going back. Will wait until the real thing when I go to Japan Also, if you order online via their website, these items are both cheaper. I showed the staff and they said they need to update (increase) the online prices. If you want to try, order takeout soon but it's really not worth trying

Cynthia H.

Yelp
I have visited Fugetsu twice (although ordering a combination of items from Fugetsu and Rokko both times) and still stand by my 3 star rating. In my most recent visit, we ordered the Fugetsu special bento. I feel like the rest of the items from the bento ex. the okonomiyaki were from Rokko because of the lower quality food. The okonomiyaki itself was not bad, better than I remembered. The other items in the bento were kind of meh - beef gyudon had very little beef and more than 50% of it was fat; chicken kaarage was bland and not crispy; takoyaki was a little deflated; even edemame was super bland and tasted a bit sad. If I ever came back, I'd probably stick to just the okonomiyaki. And recommend others to do the same :)

Debasmita R.

Yelp
Kinda bummed since all the reviews rave about the okonomiyaki here but most of the food we got was a miss. We got chicken karage, cheetama okonomiyaki, and the yakisoba noodles with shrimp and scallops and tbh only the chicken karage was good. The okonomiyaki was way too sweet and it's supposed to be crispy but the one we got was all mushy, and they somehow ran out of sriracha and didn't have anything else that could make it spicier. The yakisoba noodles were salty, bland, and dry and overall lacked flavor. The noodles barely had any shrimp and it came with only one scallop that looked kinda off. The only thing we liked was the chicken karage, it was crispy and paired really well with spicy mayo and a touch of lemon. Was really hoping to like this spot but I think we came on an off night or something.

Sharon T.

Yelp
Came for dinner with a group of friends, and we all enjoyed it! Fugetsu is actually located inside Rokko and they're shared with no differences, so just look for Rokko when you're looking for the restaurant. We were seated quickly and the menu had lots of variety. We tried the takoyaki, a sushi roll, the modanyaki, and the yakisoba. The food came out fairly quickly, and all the dishes were good. The takoyaki was flavorful, the sushi roll was generously sized and tasted great too. I enjoyed the modanyaki and the yakisoba, though they were a tad on the salty side for me personally. Parking in the adjacent parking lot is a bit hard to find since it's quite busy, but there is a nearby underground parking structure that has plenty of parking. Just follow the parking signs!

Yelp
Oh! I am stuffed with good food! This Asian fusion restaurant is pretty popular (as I write this, the place is packed!). They have rice bowls, sushi and sashimi, curry and a good variety of Japanese sake and beer. But what this place is known for is their okonomiyaki, or the Japanese pancake, and yakisoba or stir fry with thick noodles. We had the White Tuna Tataki Don (rice bowl) and the 4 Okonomiyaki sampler, with a side of grilled onigiri or rice ball, which came ok with some tsukemono (pickled cucumber). All were flavorful and immediately got the saliva glands running! The tuna tataki (seared meat) was lightly seared on the top of each piece of sashimi, but the bottom was raw, as that is what tataki is, and the searing was delicately done, meaning that the meat still had a soft texture. When it is seared too much the fish can get tough. The sampler came with four different mini okonomiyaki, each having its own distinctive and delicious flavor. The cabbage, which is the base of the pancake, should have been crunchy, but I thought it was overcooked and soggy. The grilled onigiri was super flavorful, almost to the point of being too salty, but the sauce made for a very crunchy outside and a super moist inside - great texture here! I had the ume or pickled plum inside, which I expected to be a bit less rubbery. All in all, the food was tasty, and judging on the packed house of mixed ethnicity, people seem to enjoy eating here.

Brenda L.

Yelp
Was looking up some place to eat with a friend, and my eyes almost popped out when I saw Fugetsu moved to Sunnyvale! I love okonomiyaki but had only been to their old location in Santa Clara a couple times before the pandemic due to the wait. So I couldn't wait to try their new location and see how it is here. We came ~6:30 on a week night, and it wasn't bad at all. We were seated right away and there were still tables available. We both ordered the okonomiyaki special sampler with 4 different kinds because it just looked so enticing! Food came out at a reasonable amount of time, we knew ordering okonomiyaki would take some time and it was ok with us. All 4 from the sampler were good! I especially liked that they all have distinct flavoring so it's not just the same thing 4 times. Also you literally get a quarter piece from each and adds up to a full okonomiyaki, and they charge pretty similarly to one full one too so you're not paying a lot of extra for the sampler. Will definitely come back for more okonomiyaki goodness!

Han H.

Yelp
The photo was what I took from one of my friends' orders. By the way, my friends were seniors. Mine was Pork NegiTsuki which I didn't really Suki Desu. Very light on meat and more eggs besides the one in topping! Waitress was a smooth talk and easy eyes. Wait time for getting seated was short but for actually getting food on the table / technically skillet was very long ; Seniors weren't happy about that though they enjoyed the food after all. O ki wait time for Okonomiyaki! So is quite the bill.

Angela P.

Yelp
pros: -the fugetsu lunch special is PERFECT. large portions and everything was seasoned well ($19 for bento) -great service -seated quickly on a friday at 11:30am. -large restaurant with nice ambience cons: -parking was HARD bc the lot is quite small.

Jacqueline Z.

Yelp
Fugetsu is located inside of Rokko, and the menu that you get is for both restaurants. I came here to try what Fugetsu had to offer, specifically their modanyaki/okonomiyaki, so this review is only for what Fugetsu had to offer. Negi Tsukimi Modanyaki - This dish was delicious! The crispy noodles was a nice touch to the dish, though I'm not sure if I would get the modanyaki version next time over the okonomiyaki. I loved the flavor of this and would come back for it. Gyusuki Yakisoba - The beef was good, but the noodles were a little bit too salty in my opinion.

Josie C.

Yelp
F O O D This review is just for the Fugetsu dishes even though we ordered from both Fugetsu and Rokko menus. Unlike other places, they offer modan-style okonomiyaki which is just okonomiyaki but topped with noods. Would highly suggest bringing people to share with, because the okonomiyakis are huge and super filling... or you can pack the glorious leftovers. For the uninitiated, okonomiyaki is a Japanese savory pancake dish consisting of wheat flour batter and other ingredients cooked on a teppan/metal griddle. Okonomi = whatever you want Yaki = grilled + Deluxe modanyaki: Everything okonomiyaki on top of crispy noodle layer. Includes pork, squid, shrimp and scallops topped with fried egg, served with house special sauce and mayo (see photo) + Cheetama Pork Okonomiyaki: Pork okonomiyaki with extra egg topping and melted cheese served with house special sauce and mayo. My Brazilian friend remarked that it reminded her of the pork from Brazil. Vegetarian order: + Potato Cheese Modanyaki: Potato cheese okonomiyaki on top of crispy noodles served with house special sauce and mayo (see photo) S E R V I C E + Immediately seated our party of 5 on a Tuesday at 7:45pm, not too crowded + Waitress was attentive and helpful with recommendations for vegetarian dishes + Didn't pressure us to leave even though we were there for what seemed like a really long time A M B I A N C E + Can be difficult to find if you don't know what you're looking for. Fugetsu shares the space in Rokko, so look for Rokko. + Ample free parking in the evening. Parking lot next to the restaurant or parking garage down the street. + Cozy but still spacious enough for large parties + Quiet on a weekday evening. My party was probably the loudest in the restaurant lol T L ; D R Hands down my favorite place to get okonomiyaki. Modan and access to Rokko's menu always a plus to balance out the okonomiyaki. Always had a great experience here. Bring a friend to sample more of the menu.

Yelp
I feel like Fugetsu was recommended on so many platforms for good eats in Sunnyvale. But it did not meet expectations. We got the okonomiyaki with the noodles. The flavors were good, it was okay. It was on the soggier side and dense and heavy. I've had better okonomiyaki elsewhere. We also got sushi rolls, those were good, can't really go wrong with a salmon roll. We also got chicken karage. Not juicy and was just like regular nugget type. I don't think I'll be returning.

Yelp
Saturday was a nice day to come into Fugetsu in Sunnyvale. Especially when you come in early. I had gotten there with my friend around 11:30am when they first opened and they were able to seat us right away. The menu was quite big and honestly a little overwhelming but it wasn't too bad especially since most of the menu was covered with pictures so you'd be able to see what you were ordering. They also had a special menu that gave you another option at trying their signature Okonomiyaki's with the chance to try all 4 of them in a smaller form factor served as a sampler. Which is what I got but only 2 of the samplers which were the Gyusuki and Negi. Also a side of Edamame, which wasn't on the menu so you can just ask for it. Really liked these smaller portion sampler plates as it gave me the experience of an okonomiyaki but not on the larger scale. NOTE: You can't make it a modanyaki on the sampler ones as they're too small. Just as a heads up. The edamame was also large in quantity so that was really nice to take home. Would definitely come back next time and try out their modanyaki and other items as everything looked good. Even the decor was nice, just a little weird that the sign and branding was of the old establishment that was there.

Yelp
We came for Okonomiyaki and we got it! For those unfamiliar, okonomiyaki is a type of savory crepe with assorted toppings of vegetables (usually cabbage), various meats or fish, and often noodles. It originated in Hiroshima, Japan. The toppings vary wildly. It is served piping hot on a cast iron plate. It was a little confusing to find the restaurant because it shares a space with another restaurant called Rokko. But there is no sign. So after confusedly driving and walking past while Siri said "you have arrived," we finally went in and got seated. They have a huge menu of other rice and noodle-based dishes like yakisoba but we came for the okonomiyaki "modan," which includes yummy crispy noodles. We also enjoyed a huge tofu salad. You need a salad to go with the richness of the okonomiyaki. It had velvety smooth tofu, lots of fresh veggies, seaweed salad and a tasty soy-based dressing. Delish. One okonomiyaki is plenty for 2 people. We had one with shrimp, pork and Kewpie mayo. SO TASTY. I want to go back to try potato and cheese. The vibe is nice, lots of wood and a big bar. Service cheerful and efficient. Prices great. We will be back.

Yelp
Been to Fugetsu twice for dinner now and not sure if I came on an off day but the second time wasn't as good as the first. I got the pork modanyaki (okonomiyaki, but it comes with noodles as well) and it was pretty heavy/saucy. The flavor was okay, but the whole okonomiyaki was kind of soggy and not as crisp as we were expecting. We also tried 2 takoyakis (original and ebi mayo?) - they were also kind of soggy and felt a bit undercooked. Would not recommend getting the ebi mayo takoyaki, because it basically tasted like soy sauce and not much else. The service was okay, considering that the restaurant was super busy, but the food took a long time to come out. I came with a larger party and they only had a couple tables large enough to seat us, so I'd definitely recommend coming early if possible. The adjacent parking lot is also pretty small, so you may have to find street parking or walk from a further lot.

Yelp
Great spot to pick up lunch from, especially if you live nearby or your office is in the area. Takeout only, no seating There are almost too many options to choose from-- okonomiyaki, donburi, bento, tonkotsu, poke, sashimi, and onigiri to name a few. There's a small selection of hot items, drinks, and snacks, too. I would come here and pick up lunch againp

Yelp
This place is attached to a restaurant called Bamboo. They give you both menus so you can order from either place or mix and match which is cool. It's located in downtown Sunnyvale. There is a parking lot right behind the restaurant which is convenient but it can fill up pretty fast since the lot is kind of small. I came for dinner around 6pm and was seated right away. We got a pork yakisoba and a okonomiyaki and a tuna sushi roll. The okonomiyaki took around 15-25 minutes to be prepared which was pretty long but I didn't mind the wait. It was pretty good and filling. The serving size is smaller than I was expecting but it's heavy so it was filling for me. It was pretty tasty and creamy. The pork was tender and flavorful. We ordered it with noodles (Modanyaki) which I definitely recommend. The yakisoba was delicious as well. It came in a sizzling plate so it was hot. The tuna sushi roll was very good as well. The service was good. They were helpful and refilled our waters a lot and made sure we were doing well. I enjoyed this place but it is a but expensive for what you get. I liked it but probably would not crave or come here again. It's one of the only places around here that I know sells okonomiyaki so it's definitely worth a try!

Yelp
My friends and I wanted to come here for dinner on a Friday evening. We were seated quickly and the staff easily made room for when my boyfriend arrived. We ordered a variety of things. They give you a fantastic amount of fish with any raw fish items. I ordered the tuna nigiri and the tuna slices were thick! It was delicious even though the wasabi underneath totally overwhelmed me. All of us got a variation of the okonomiyaki/modanyaki. These take about 25-30 minutes to be ready so be prepared to wait. Another thing to note is that there is a difference between okonomiyaki and modanyaki. The okonomiyaki doesn't come with yakisoba/the noodles, whereas the modanyaki does. The modanyaki is more of the Osaka style and the okonomiyaki is more Tokyo style. One of my friends and I ordered the okonomiyaki sampler and didn't know that we could've ordered it in the modanyaki way. We all definitely prefer the modanyaki and I highly recommend you start with that over the okonomiyaki. Our only issue with these were that the sauce was a bit much. Staff was very attentive especially given it was a Friday night. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the music (since it was exactly my taste).

Yelp
I will definitely be coming back! This place is great if you want tapas styled food and drinks while catching up with friends. Service was great and accommodating.

Yelp
Great Bento. Salmon perfectly cooked. Tempura light and crispy. Was very busy but not noisy and service was excellent. The other customers looked like they were having a great time. Alot of food choices. Will definitely be back.

Yelp
Located off nice street for food in downtown Sunnyvale. Super fast service and zero wait on Sunday at 6pm. Ample parking in the street. Salmon sashimi - large thinner slices - math says to get the 7 piece over the 2 - kids destroyed this Yaki onigiri - off menu item - picture from 3 y ago looks way better - plain served with side of pickles, missing green onions, tobiko - flavor is there but lacks texture Tatoyaki cheese (octopus balls) - good flavor love the gooey cheese - kids devoured this Okonomiyaki shrimp - mnp likes this original style without noodles - excellent, must order - try different proteins Yakisoba deluxe - best in show - flavors on point comes out on a sizzling plate - love that leaking egg Chicken Karaage Curry - super filling and easily shareable between two adults - solid per dbp

Yelp
I got the deluxe chirashi which was pretty solid. For the price point I was genuinely surprised with the portion size. This dish alone could get me stuffed. I also got the premium set #3 that comes with plain udon, tempura, agadeshi tofu, and mackerel. For $25. W o W. Amazing price for a huge portion! Service was a little slow, but honestly it's fine. I liked sitting at the sushi bar because generally it's kind of loud inside, but the second time I went I enjoyed the intimacy of the sushi bar with the person I was with. 5/5

Yelp
Tried fugetsu for the first time with a friend yesterday and we really enjoyed it. We went here on a Wednesday evening and we were quickly seated. We ordered a few dishes for two but the takoyaki was the highlight. It was so soft, delicious and perfectly cooked. The chicken karaage and the yakisoba were good, but I felt I've had better. Hot house sake was bomb. Service and ambience were pretty good. I'll definitely be back another time to try other dishes on the menu like the okonomiyaki.

Yelp
Busy location with cute decor and friendly service! My partner and I are vegetarian so we shared a potato and cheese okononiyaki modan style! It was so delicious but very heavy, so I highly recommend sharing with your friends and family. It wasn't lacking in flavor and the portion was very generous. Very yummy! We also got an avocado roll with a side of spicy mayo. The spicy mayo here is very sour- tasted a little odd. Avocado roll was good except some of the rice tasted old and dry. This is one of the better okonomiyaki places I've been! We'll be back.

Yelp
**This review was for a visit in July 2021** I haven't had okonomiyaki before so I was super excited to try this out with my friends. Fugetsu is part of another restaurant so we were a bit confused since there wasn't a storefront sign, but they do have menus posted outside so that's how we got in. The wait was not that long during peak dinner rush for a party of 4 - probably about a 20-30 min wait. We ordered a feast! We got the deluxe okonomiyaki and gyuniku negitama okonomiyaki both modan style, chanpon yakisoba, and negimayo shiosoba to share. I highly recommend the modan style since it has the noodles on the bottom which gets super crispy with the hot place. It does take a bit longer but I feel like it's well worth the wait! The yakisoba was good, but I do recommend getting a bit of variety to switch up the flavor palette. The sauce is a bit overpowering and can get redundant when you order multiple dishes with the same sauce. My favorites were the negimayo shiosoba and the gyuniku negitama okonomiyaki! Loved the mounds of green onion on the gyuniku one. I would definitely come again for some good food and beer to share with friends.
