I love Lodge Bread and Hasiba (RIP) so I was eager to try Full Proof Pizza. The team behind these restaurants are dough experts and their NY style pizzas are made with naturally fermented dough.
I ordered online for pickup. There's an option to choose two different flavors for your pizza - something I appreciate because my husband doesn't eat meat! The decor is 80's retro, including neon lights. There's no seating inside, but they do have a Stranger Things pinball machine which I seized the opportunity to play while waiting for my pizza.
We got Wild Mushroom/Spicy Sausage pizza. As much as I love béchamel sauce, the mushroom pizza was a little bland and could use a little something extra (caramelized onions, perhaps) that would make it great. The sausage pizza was a solid win, with the Calabrian chiles giving it some heat. I found dipping it in their ranch dressing helped sooth the burn. I would 100% order this one again!
The crust is thin so the difference in the dough isn't really noticeable until you get to the edges. That's when you can tell that you're dealing with a superior dough, which must have some wholegrain in it because of the color, and a good chew. Did I dip it into the ranch dressing too? Oh, yes!
What could make pizza even better? Free pizza! They are running an opening special where you can get a free 12" cheese pizza with purchase of a 18" pizza.
Full Proof is open for takeout and delivery. I think there was a tiny lot in back but managed to get a metered spot along Olympic. I'm bringing more quarters with me next time, so I can play a few rounds of pinball before brining my pie back home!
