NYC’s New Restaurant Openings

"For the DIYer in your life, Fumo Caffe e Vino is a Harlem wine bar where you can make your own meat and cheese board combinations. From the Fumo team, they’ve got coffee and pastries during the day, and a full wine bar with Italian drinking snacks, like whipped ricotta with house baked focaccia, and bruschetta. " - will hartman

The most beautiful café in NYC. Feels like you’re in Europe. Perfect view of the gorgeous buildings of city college. The interior of the café is impeccably decorated and the coffee, wine, pastries, and bites are delicious. Service is fantastic. They are always attentive and friendly. Can’t recommend this place enough!!!

This is a fantastic place with an adorable, cozy design, offering a rich wine selection perfectly paired with fumo charcuterie board. I’d highly recommend it for the inviting atmosphere and exceptional staff, who always greet you with a warm smile and show great professionalism. If you’re unsure of what to choose, the team is more than happy to help you find something special that suits your taste. 10000/100

I’ve tried so hard to really love this place. The aesthetic is beautiful and the European-vibes are definitely present with the tables and seating arrangement and outdoor options. I’ve never tried the food but it always looks great, whether pastries or hot food. Their happy hour wine is also solid, which isn’t always the case when places offer $7 glasses. But the coffee is just so incredibly mediocre. I drink black coffee and you can absolutely taste how sub-par the beans are. And my 16oz iced Americano is so watery and pointless with only 2 measly shots of espresso, as compared to the standard 4 shots which can be found at nearly every other coffee shop in New York. And forgive me for sounding like an old man (I’m 30) but the music is always so much louder than a space of this size warrants. Everyone has headphones in so they can just try and focus, which defeats the purpose of coming to a public space to work or study or read. It’s like this place doesn’t know what it wants to be. It’s trying so hard to hold onto its Fumo roots as an elevated sit-down spot, but can’t help but be heavily influenced (and rightfully so) by the undergrad CUNY energy right across the street. It always feels both busy and empty to me at the same time, but maybe that’s just the ‘tism speaking. All in all, it’s a passable spot to take advantage of some air conditioning and a well-lit euro-inspired aesthetic. But it’s definitely not my first, or second, or third pick in the neighborhood. I don’t want to spend $6 on a coffee that tastes like it came from a bad bodega, and I don’t want to have to put headphones on just to concentrate on something directly in front of me. I probably won’t come back after today, there are plenty of options in Harlem to become a regular at, instead.

The coffee was brewed to perfection, exactly how It should be. It's clear that they take pride in the quality. This place is a hidden gem, and I can't recommend it enough👌

Stepping into this café E Vino bar feels like being transported straight to Milan. The atmosphere and interiors capture that quintessential European charm, and the view of the historic City College building through the windows completes the illusion. It’s as if you’ve been whisked away to Italy without ever leaving the neighborhood. The wine selection is truly outstanding. My personal favorites include the Montepulciano from Tuscany and the refreshing Vinho Verde from Portugal—both exceptional choices that highlight the depth of their menu. Their panini are simply divine, and the appetizers are equally impressive, showcasing the kind of quality and flavor you’d expect in a rustic Italian eatery. What sets this place apart is its warm and welcoming staff, who embody the genuine hospitality Italians are known for. It’s rare to find such an inviting spot uptown, and it’s quickly become a gem in the area. Prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality, but the happy hour steals the show. Imagine sipping a glass of wine for just $8 or getting a bottle at half price; it’s the perfect way to unwind after a long day. The space itself is another highlight. It’s spacious enough to host a birthday party, a casual gathering with friends, or even a work event. I was thrilled to discover they offer private event packages, and I’m already planning to book the space for my birthday next year.

Whether you’re stopping by for a casual cup of coffee, a mid-day bite, or an elegant evening with a glass of wine, this place delivers on all fronts. The menu is thoughtfully crafted, offering a variety of options that cater to both light eaters and those seeking something more indulgent. The coffee is rich and full-bodied, clearly prepared with great care. Their wine selection is equally impressive, with choices that pair beautifully with their small plates and charcuterie boards. What sets Fumo apart is the warm and attentive service. The staff is knowledgeable and eager to guide you through their offerings without being overbearing, making the experience feel personal and relaxed. Yelp
I came in during a weekday for a quick lunch. This space is cozy with plenty of tables and bar seats. I ordered a grapefruit soda and avocado toast for lunch. Everything came out super quick. Staff was friendly. Not sure if they have a bathroom or not. I believe the restaurant is ADA accessible. There are no stairs leading to the door of the restaurant. They do breakfast, lunch and small plates. Would love to come back for a nightcap!

Yelp
Staff rude. Listen I have no problem paying a lot for espresso drink and I deliberately search for local coffee shops instead of that big, corporate S coffee. But call me old school, but for $5.99 for a 16oz iced latte, I expect a "hi" or "thank you". I walk in, female server just turns around, saying nothing, so I place my order. She walks away. I did not know the register was at the other end of the bar beyond the food cases. So when I wonder where she went, I saw her ringing up. So I go there. The ONLY thing she said to me was "16 or 24 oz?". I ordered, she made it, and puts it on the counter, SAYING NOTHING, and turns around. I said "You're Welcome". The gentleman there, then did say "thank you". Again, not expecting a barista and I to have stimulating conversation, but you want me to shop local, pay a lot for a drink, TIP YOU, and you are rude? No thank you. There are many other local shops, so you lost a regular customer. Sorry.
