Izakaya Funhouse

Last weekend I was able to finally try Funhouse. Growing up listening to punk rock, had been looking forward to dine in this magical place. I was not disappointed. Started with ceviche and then continued with few sashimi plates. My favorite was the red snapper one. Incredible tomato curry tops and overall selection of vegetarian options. Can’t wait to go back and see what Tsubasa creates next!

I don’t know if you guys have heard yet but there’s a new restaurant in Little Tokyo and if you love really good food and punk rock it is the place for you. The menu is unique. The chef is cool as hell and the atmosphere makes is so unique and fun, no wonder they named the restaurant Funhouse. If you are in little Tokyo, I’ll be back soon!!

Eat here!! The food is fresh, delicious, and innovative (vegan eel!). This isn't the strip mall, California firecracker roll sushi, no "wasabi" and soy sauce nonsense. It's delicate, melt in your mouth freshness. The scallops!! We tried a variety of dishes, but our favorite was the ceviche, and the fries. Not only is the food amazing, but the attention to detail is on point. The vintage Pyrex, the punk decor, and a boppin playlist. The service was warm and welcoming. It is a small space so be aware if you go during a busy time there may be a wait. We took a car service there, but they say there is parking at a nearby lot. I can not wait to go back.

I got all the vegan options they on thhe me u that day and they were all delicious, the chef Tsubasa made us some vegan ceviche on a martini glass that was not in the menu and it was unbelievable, never had something like that, with a kind of japanese potato and lime tones. The whole crew there was super friendly and the place is just so beautiful and cool, if you like punk rock you gonna love the place.

I loved my time at Funhouse! The atmosphere is incredible, the walls are decorated with old punk memorabilia, and the seating was comfortable. I ordered the Japanese Ceviche (pictured), Three fish carpaccio, and The Sukiyaki Beef Rice Bowl. All three dishes were delicious. The flavors were unique, and the fish is high quality. The service was excellent and everyone was incredibly welcoming. Five stars, I highly recommend this restaurant!

Love this new spot in Little Tokyo. The tomato curry and Japanese ceviche are must-haves but everything we ordered was fantastic. Easy parking in the lot across the street. No excuses not to try this place! Impeccable service and atmosphere on top of it all.

Seriously had an amazing time at Funhouse! The chef Tsubasa is a bit of a punk legend in LA, and his food did not disappoint. My crew got like every vegan option available that day (they are rotating the menu!) and also some fish stuff that they loved. the vegan Eel is an eggplant dish that was SO good! A little sweet, a little umami, a little char. Seriously a perfect egg plant ! The vegan Karage (fried chicken) was kind of the star in my opinion. It's a battered mushroom that is so good! He gets the crunchy texture and flavor, while retaining the mushroom just enough. I absolutely loved this I could have eaten a bucket. The app order comes with a little salad, but you can also add them on to your curry. I got the spicy vegan tomato curry and it was AMAZING! V flavorful! I love spice, this wasn't too spicy and it had really great little veggies in there. We also got the mountain potatoes which were delicious The ephemera is really exciting if you're a punk fan. He's got some OG Slash mags and merch and so many great flyers!!! And they also have a very cute old school diner counter which I love. Cute vibe! Everyone's so cool and welcoming I can't wait to come back and try all the vegan options that they come up with!

Great Japanese Izakaya with some garage punk vibes. The decor is great, the food delicious and the service is amazing. A new go to place to bring friends or make them.

A punk rock themed izakaya! The waiter will come up to you with food options on a whiteboard menu, that will vary based on what is available that day. I went as a group of 3 and we decided to share appetizers and sashimi to get a taste of everything, and then we each ordered our own entree. The food was so carefully prepared and fresh that it was reminiscent of the way food is presented in Japan. Our waiter was actually from Japan as well, and I connected with them about my previous Japan travels. The space is small, but worth the wait. Lots of punk rock gig flyers and merch on the walls, along with 70s punk heard over the speakers. There was also a group of customers who brought their own 7" rock singles to play over the turntable that is also connected to the speakers. Parking might be tough, but worth the fight!

Food was amazing here I loved their sashimi it was amazing honestly the best sashimi I ever had! Also the service was nice so welcoming! Tsubasa was very friendly and made me feel welcomed! Also the ambience was really nice I've always loved punk rock stuff and Seeing black flag one of my favorite bands on the wall was amazing if you're into punk or just looking for a nice time while eating good i highly recommend this place!

Checked out the new spot in little Tokyo last night. Amazing food, friendly staff and super cool ambience. Definitely heading back!
