Unfortunately, on my return visit, I had to take away a couple of stars for Funky Picnic. We came here at about 3pm on a Friday to have a celebratory dinner before my graduation. The restaurant was understandably pretty empty due to the time, and it was also pretty yucky weather outside. We had made a reservation so we were seated immediately, and our waitress was friendly, but seemed a bit distant.
We started with the Fried Goat Cheese balls with honey and the Pretzel bites with beer cheese and mustard. The goat cheese balls were just ok. There was too much filling and not enough breading, in my opinion, which made it awkward to eat. Also need to have more honey as it cut the strong flavor of the goat cheese. The pretzels were good, hot and fresh, and the mustard was very strong, which my family generally likes. The beer cheese was ok, but it was quite clumpy while also being a bit runny, which was odd.
For entrees we got 3 different pizzas and I ordered the "I make spore decisions" which is a grilled chicken breast with mashed potatoes and grilled veggies with a mushroom sauce. My meal was awful, honestly. The chicken was already cut up when I got my plate, which I thought was very odd, but I think they may have been attempting to mask the fact that the chicken itself was very low quality. It was woody, spongy chicken and was very unpleasant to eat. The potatoes were lacking any seasoning and were too loose, the mushroom sauce was ok, but nothing special, and the "grilled veggies" were very thin pieces of grilled asparagus that hadn't been trimmed properly. The food was also barely warm when it was brought to the table. As you can imagine, I ended up sending it back, which I HATE doing. But really, it was not good, at all, especially for $16! They replaced it with their TABC, which was pretty good, so that's something.
The pizzas were good, all except for the spinach dip pizza, which was extremely burned on one side. Aparently the pizza paddle had broken and they were scrambling to get the pizza out of the oven. Not sure why they brought out such a burned pizza, and then didn't offer any sort of discount. They did eventually offer to remake it when my MIL remarked on how burned it was, but the pizzas took literally about 30 minutes to come out, so we didn't have time for it to be remade. Again, no offer to discount, which made my MIL upset.
Overall, I don't think I will be back. The quality just doesn't match the price anymore. Dinner was $100 for 4 people, 2 of which ordered water to drink, not including a tip. It just didn't match up for us this time, sadly.
