Dallas Mutual Aid Groups Are Struggling to Distribute Funds Fast Enough Following Winter Storms | Eater Dallas

"The group’s rapid, small-scale cash assistance illustrates how mutual aid can move quickly: an Instagram-posted request from a single mother behind on bills resulted in a $500 CashApp transfer minutes later to help with rent and hygiene needs. At the same time, the organization has had to engage platform support teams to resolve holds and transfer issues so those kinds of immediate disbursements can continue." - Steven Monacelli

An Antiquated Law Threatens Fort Worth’s Community Fridges | Eater Dallas

"Operating in Fort Worth since last September, I describe Funky Town Fridge as a collective that runs three community-accessible, unmanned refrigerators on a 'take what you need, leave what you can' policy; founder Kendra Richardson says the city plans to shut the fridges down by January 17 unless she makes major modifications because of an obscure 1964 law intended to prevent children from becoming trapped in airtight appliances. City code compliance suggested adding locks, asking volunteers to man the fridges, or replacing them with smaller units—changes Richardson says would make the project far less accessible—so she is seeking a city exception, has obtained pro bono legal aid, and has contacted District 9 Councilwoman Ann Zadeh for support." - Brittanie Shey

Stopped for gas but was also hungry and decided to order some food here. I expected the normal subpar food you usually find at gas stations. What I got was one of the best philly cheese steaks ive ever had. Like holy crap, it is really good.

Absolutely the rudest most un-customer oriented businesses I've ever had the displeasure of doing business with such an unappreciative organization in my life. I was completely astounded by the voracity in which a simple request was met with being cussed out by the little cashier. My money will never be collected at the cash registers if this foul mouthed unappreciative, uncooperative, unprofessional establishment ever again and I encourage each of you to do the same. Also, an immediate inspection by the city should be made in their food preparation area! Buyer beware!
