The Best Doughnut Shops in Dallas-Fort Worth | Eater Dallas

"This Fort Worth doughnut destination stays true to its name: the flavor profiles are funky. Think fried dough topped with Thai tea glaze and filled with sweet cream, or pomegranate with toasted meringue. The options here change monthly, which means that every trip can be decidedly unique." - Courtney E. Smith

Mojo Monkey Donuts Returns With Delivery to Minneapolis and St. Paul | Eater Twin Cities

"Much-missed and long known for drawing lines out the door of its charming West 7th shop, Mojo Monkey Donuts will return this weekend, April 24 and 25, as owner Lisa Clark fires up her fryers to resume making the doughnuts that built its reputation. With the storefront dark since the coronavirus-driven restaurant closures and hours reduced to weekends earlier this year due to Clark's personal health concerns, the shop will offer doorstep delivery across Minneapolis, Saint Paul and most cities in Washington, Ramsey, Dakota and Hennepin counties — $1 delivery to St. Paul and $2 elsewhere, with gratuity allowed at payment — and the best way to order is to call the shop or email Clark directly while online ordering is not yet ready. The menu includes pounds of Spyhouse coffee; a savory garlic beef asado piroshi that can be heated at home; the perishng (a fried cinnamon bun); apple fritters; maple bacon; funfetti; French toast; s’mores; and more." - Joy Summers

Google
Driving around and this place caught our eyes. We decided to stop by for Donuts, I mean, why not. So many donut flavors to choose from. We got the Rhubarb filled donut and Strawberry shortcake donut. The rhubarb filling was absolutely delicious. It wasn’t too sweet or tart, but was perfect! Definitely a must try. We also got the Strawberry shortcake donut which tasted so fresh and creamy and wasn’t too sweet either. Both were so yummy!!

Google
First time here at The "FUNKTown" bought a maple Bacon. Loved it. Texture was amazing, bacon full of bacon delight.. she even just threw in a free donut for me to try. excellent Donuts. If. You want just a "donut " go somewhere else BUT if You WANT a Donut flavor explosion, THIS IS THE PLACE..!! Keep on Spreading Donut LOVE!!!

Google
Had a caramel macchiato coffee and some kind of raspberry chocolate doughnut. Do yourself a favor only get one doughnut. They’re super sweet and creamy. Funky and modern decor. Corner location and parking is pretty easy for downtown.

Google
First time at this location at 2pm they were still open so we went in to see what it was about. They had great looking donuts. I got a powered donut w blackberry filling and a cinnamon roll. I loved the powdered donut but unfortunately it had very little filling. It would have been nice to have a little more filling for the price of 7 dollars. Pretty expensive. For me. The cinnamon roll was average tasting nothing grand. It was dry so may he been sitting in the case since am. Which would make sense since it was 2pm. Its ok but just too pricey. Staff was nice nothing to exciting about them. Just ok. The place was cute and loved the atmosphere, clean and organized.

Google
They have the best and most fun donuts EVER! They are fresh and so CREATIVE! I make a trip here almost every week just to see what's new! The staff is so friendly and nice! I called once because I couldn't find a parking spot & they brought my order to the car! I ABSOLUTELY 💯 ♥️ LOVE LOVE ❤️ this place!

Google
I was so excited to find a new place with vegan donuts and ordered every single one but the cashier this morning put a damper on my experience with her passive aggressive mannerisms and rude tone. She didn’t seem to be annoyed with the white family who she checked out behind me. As a first timer who needs a minute to take things in, I felt rushed and like I was asking too much. Very poor first impression. Based on the service alone, I wont be back.

LM F.

Google
Greet with a beautiful smile, and she recommended some of her favorites. The bacon maple donut was pork-a-licious. Our nieces and nephew loved them as well. Also had enough seating inside and out for a girl day out.

Google
Stopped by FunkyTown this morning and were met with 2 smiling faces. The employees were so kind in helping me decide on a dozen donuts for my office. They didn't have my boss's favorite, but helped me select something similar, the blood orange glazed donut, and she LOVED IT! I enjoyed a plain glazed, and it was incredible - super light and perfectly sweet. We work just down the street and will most definitely be back! Thank you, FunkyTown!

Yelp
An adorable shop with equally adorable donuts! I love the concept of being able to get donuts as well as drink in the same place! Truly a unique business! The donuts are delicious with tons of interesting flavours! Definitely worth the price! The staff was so helpful and patient as me and my partner decided what to get. Also so nice as to make us custom drinks! We took our delicious donuts and drinks around the corner to the square to enjoy, couldn't have asked for a better experience!

Yelp
Several donuts options to choose from. Some fancier than others like you would see at some Oregon based donut chains. But much smaller donuts that are well presented in the case. But the donuts seem a little pricy for me. Service was prompt and easy. Cold brew was a touch underwhelming. Seemed a little watered down and missed that coffee punch I like from a cold brew. Overall not a bad spot if you're looking to get away from a commercial coffee/donut chain.

Yelp
If you find yourself in downtown Fort Worth around breakfast time, or even not at breakfast time, Funkytown is a great local spot to pop into. They have rotating monthly flavors, along with some of their staples like the maple bacon doughnut and apple fritters which are by far the best I've ever had. It's a pretty small location, though they do have some outdoor seating as well. And if you are up for an adult beverage, they also have beer and wine to go. The staff are always friendly, and it's just a great little spot to grab a sweet treat.

Yelp
Aw man, I wanted to love these donuts so badly. I am a huge donut/doughnut person. Like I would literally drive 6 hours for some donuts if I felt it was worth it. (I have done this) I've had this place saved for a few years since being in Texas and I finally got the chance to come by. The place is super cute. The woman who helped me was very nice and patient while I took time choosing my donuts. But, when it came to the moment I actually ate some, I had 3 before I decided that these weren't going to get any better. For me it was the dough that was unimpressive. I feel like a lot of places try to manipulate the doughnut and make it into something innovative and completely miss the mark. So sad.

Jasmine C.

Yelp
The donuts were amazing. You can tell they are made fresh. I went in and tried the maple bacon donut and got an original glazed donut. Not something you would retreat. Even the bacon on the donut was amazing.

Yelp
This was a fun little find for a segue between breakfast and lunch :). We literally just happened past it, and I usually try to avoid donut places because I can't do gluten anymore and I LOVE donuts! However, my friend peeked in the window and saw both vegan and GF donuts! Made my day! My friends both really liked their donuts (regular, but can't remember what they got), and then since the GF ones were a bit smaller, I ended up getting two. One was blueberry lavender (I think!), and the other chocolate frosted. Both were delicious, and decently priced as well!

Yelp
We were in Sundance Square and my son loves donuts so we had to check it out. We got one chocolate, one chocolate sprinkle and some donut holes. They had to go local craft beer so I got one of those too. The prices were low, the donuts are a little on the small side but the price makes up for it. The inside was super cute, even in the bathroom. The staff seemed friendly and answered all questions we had. Will be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome!! We got there after they had closed (noon). We were looking in the window and they noticed us, a gentleman came out and told us to come in as they had a few left. We each ordered a donut to go so they could officially close. We sat outside and enjoyed our donuts at the outdoor cafe tables. We opened the box and found a variety of donuts!!! Yum. A must when in town again
google avatar

Yelp
Not worth the hype. Dry donuts with a hint of flavor. I had the "root beer float" donut and the frosting had a weird chemical flavor. The donut itself was not sweet which is fine with me but it was dry. My husband had a strawberry donut. It too was dry and not sweet. The fake chemical taste was hard to get over. The flavors weren't as unique as I thought they'd be. Maybe we came on a bad day. Not impressive. The girls working the counter were super friendly!

Yelp
In Fort Worth for work and decided on a spontaneous stop for a tasty treat. Seems the donut offerings change so you aren't sure what you are going to get until you walk in. Got four to bring over to work associates - a fruity pebble (donut with a cereal topping), two traditional chocolate covered with sprinkles, and a bacon maple for myself. All the donuts were still very fresh even though I grabbed around noon. Everyone loved them. The place looked tiny inside but also offered outside seating for those nice sunny days. And adult beverages which is a nice touch. I didn't stay to eat cause I had a call time to get to. I can see the place being a great stop for theatre guests on matinee days as well as tourist checking out Sundance square. For those in the area later in the day, check closing time, as it looked like they close up before any evening events in the area

Yelp
Literally fire. Couldn't decide between the specialty Tiramisu doughnut or the classic chocolate frosted with sprinkles. Opted for boldness and took the staff recommendation on the tiramisu. I NEVER like cream filled doughnuts and this rocked my world! The cinnamon sugar dusting, the not-too-powerful espresso/cocoa frosting and the plentiful mascarpone filling??! This was a TREAT. Doughnut cost 4$, but it's a rare indulgence. Oh, and the oat milk latte? Loved. A balanced brew, without lingering aftertaste that was smooth and bold. I'll be back friends!

Yelp
Stopped in for an early Saturday morning fuel stop. Beer & Donuts? Heck yeah! We enjoyed our Jalapeño bagel dogs and our favorite donut was the maple bacon. The apple fritter was tasty. The other donuts we tried were the Samoa, Star Berry, and Carrot cake donuo- all were ok but nothing to get excited about. My Martin house brewing "ShellShock" stout beer had caramel & vanilla notes and wrapped up my bkft quite nicely.

Yelp
Omg this place a must try in Fort Worth Do-Nuts and drinks best combo ever...they do have a large selection of great food as well and I like that you can even talk a walk after or durning your enjoy your food.

Yelp
What a great Vegan Sprinkled Donut that I had and to top off the amazing experience. The customer service was great. Both Donna? and Danielle were very kind. Very much appreciated.

Yelp
Love having a unique donut shop here in downtown Ft Worth! I've managed to come up twice. One time with my husband and once with my sister. It is walking distance from central station, which is great if your visiting down town from the mid-cities! Wonderful that it's next to bass hall, as well you can also take a little longer walk from the T&P station as well if you need to connect to any stops there. During our visit we got some for ourselves and we took some home to our kids at home. The kids loved the Red Velvet flavor they had last month, the chocolate is a solid staple. Those that got sausage rolls enjoyed the ones with the everything seasoning. We also tried the strawberry with chocolate one, which was good but on the sweeter side to me. I also enjoy that you can get a drink with your donuts but both visits I opted to not grab a drink.

Yelp
The donut was not bad, it's okay overall. The icing was slightly sweet and the donut part was good. Visited: 12/03/2021

Yelp
Holy crap! These were the best donuts I've ever had. That's saying something because I'm a donut girl. They were so fluffy and delicate. Each flavor was delicious. I even like just plain chocolate. The two ladies who helped us in the front were also extremely nice and help recommend donuts, I can't wait to come back
google avatar

Natasha L.

Yelp
Beat donuts I've ever had in the west coast. Light light a croissant, and exceptionally flavorful. I dislike donuts that are overly sweet and have no flavor. Each donut we tried had a distinct flavor and was light and thick. Everything is made in-house, and the cashier was super friendly! The iced latte I had was excellent as well. There are a couple tables and bar seating. The shop is bright and colorful, and it was a great experience for our family.
google avatar

Brandi K.

Yelp
This is a cute little donut shop that also serves booze..? Kind of an interesting business model. I was giving myself a tour of Sundance Square and happened upon this place. Figured what the heck, walked in, nice ladies working behind the counter and a few different tasty-sounding donut options. I ordered 4 different donuts - the strawberry lemonade, apple fritter, samoa, and strawberry pretzel. Took them back to my hotel room and took a bite out of each. They almost have a Krispy Kreme consistency and all of them tasted exactly the same. Like the only one that really had a flavor variation was the strawberry lemonade. They were pillowy soft and worked well to curb a sugar craving, but not something I'd go back again and order.

Christine W.

Yelp
AMAZING DONUTS! The donuts are amazing, the location is perfect, and the people are fantastic! I definitely recommend you stop in to celebrate your day!

Rosemarie P.

Yelp
The donuts have no flavor. The only taste you get is from the glaze. I was disappointed. I tried the strawberry cheesecake and the topping was tasty but the cream cheese filling lacked flavor as did the donut. The maple bacon was the same. The maple glaze was the only flavor you got.
google avatar

Alycia H.

Yelp
I took my daughter and her friends to get some donuts and they were delicious! So many flavors to choose from you are bound to find your favorite...we had several favorites The employees were so friendly and the place was very clean. Maple bacon, blueberry lemon, and many more!

Marian R.

Yelp
Fun time grabbing mini donuts from here after a party!! Loved the Creme Brûlée mini! Service was quick on a cold night!

Nancy G.

Yelp
I LOVE donuts, so a stop here on our way out of town, after a weekend stay, was a must. It's downtown, so the parking was a challenge, but the service was great. There was no table service, so get them and go. We got a variety: Horchata, Hibiscus Lime, Key Lime, Chocolate Wasted, Watermelon Pistachio, Maple Bacon, Mango, Orange Cake...pretty much all specialty, including an Apple Fritter. These are made from scratch donuts, not from your average donut shop, standard glazed donut flavor...full of flavor donuts. I loved the Hibiscus Lime and Key Lime, both had a tartness you expect from anything lime flavored. The Apple Fritter was excellent as well. I'd highly recommend giving them a try!
google avatar

Jana B.

Yelp
The donuts were amazing! The sausage rolls were too dense and chewy. I would of liked them to be more fluffy. The prices are good. The young ladies working were less than friendly and one seemed annoyed when I asked her to warm my maple bacon donut. Who wouldn't want their maple bacon donut warm?? Great concept, but they need to work on their customer service!!

Amy M.

Yelp
the hype about these donuts where not worth the cost I had better donuts in a hole in shop place than this place.

Stephany G.

Yelp
These donuts are reminiscent of a homemade donut. Much like homemade donuts, the grease is never quite right. It changes the flavor of the dough which takes away from any topping that covers the donut. It's a very overpowering flavor. A lesson from Southern Maid Donuts in Burleson, TX would help change the dough to a lighter dough and help with the flavor issue. I was really looking forward to the Lemon Poppy Donut but it seems like too much lemon was used in an effort to overpower the dough flavor. I couldn't finish it. There was a bit of a burnt grease flavor and the flavors competed too much. The idea of this place is cute and the location is great, the dough just really needs some work to make it taste better. The chocolate donut holes were the best donut simply because the chocolate is so strong so it helps take away from the dough flavor. The sausage bagel croissant is wonderful!
google avatar

Amelia R.

Yelp
Consistently great. My dad and I have a tradition of driving all over DFW to try every donut place and this is one of very few we've been to more than once and wanted to write a review for, even though it's not close to us. The strawberry shortcake donut is as good now as it was 2 years ago, the custom donut message box was good quality and a good value. The employees were very friendly and helpful when I called to do a custom order.

Rylie J.

Yelp
We love funky town and have come monthly for almost a year. Why 3 stars? Because bro... update your times please. We drove TWICE from Euless to come get donuts on a Monday and y'all were closed. The first time..... meh, it happens. The second time we checked times everywhere and called the store and the times on there said they were open on Mondays too. So again. 30+ minutes drive for some donuts.... CLOSED. THEY ARE CLOSED ON MONDAYS. Please update your times. This wasted literal hours from our already busy lives. We love your donuts but it's frustrating as all get out.
google avatar

M T.

Yelp
We got a pumpkin pie donut and an apple cider donut. The pumpkin pie was good and I liked the whipped cream on top, but the apple cider tasted stale. A little over priced for what you get, but what isn't these days thanks to Brandon.
google avatar

Danny T.

Yelp
Saw this spot on the map that was walking distance from our hotel and we decided to check it out! We walked in and immediately loved the vibes the place was giving out. Very colorful interior and a staff full of smiling faces. Donuts also were calling our names begging us to take them home!! All of the choices looked amazing! Each donut we bit into was so perfectly light that we felt as if the donut would float out of our hands! The maple bacon donut in particular had the perfect marriage of sweet and savory! Didn't get the beer this time but if I ever do come back, I'll have to try it out!
google avatar

Amanda W.

Yelp
One staff member was super friendly, the other one, not so much. One helped us with flavors, beer samples, etc., the other looked like she wanted to strangle someone. Thankfully, we were able to overlook that one. We got the "fig" and "star berry" donuts, and well as the Feisty Redhead and another beer that's escaping my memory at the moment. The donuts were yummy & the beer was good too. I liked that we could keep our cups, which are a fun purple color. Kinda pricey, but given the location, I'm not surprised. We enjoyed our visit and would likely return.
google avatar

Gabriel V.

Yelp
The selection wasn't extensive but the one donut I got was very good, I just wish there were more exciting and different donuts. I recommend going, the donut will be good but there's just not enough here to go back
google avatar

Megan P.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this place while strolling around Sundance Square. It was around 10pm so we were surprised that we came across a shop that offered donuts at that time! There is a nice, small selection of specialty donuts and some coffee options as well. We went with the Berry Bomb, which is a strawberry flavored donut filled with a light cream. We also got a pumpkin streusel donut. Both donuts were fresh, airy, and soft. The berry donut was not overly sweet and had a nice strawberry cream flavor. The pumpkin donut did not have an overwhelming pumpkin taste and was slightly sweeter than the berry donut. We also paired our donuts with a cappuccino, which tasted like a standard cappuccino so nothing to note. The staff was nice and the donuts were good, but the reason for the 4 stars is that I felt that the donuts were a bit overpriced at $4/each for the ones we picked.

Wooram C.

Yelp
Service and taste were 10 out of 10!! Their staff was very friendly and answer any questions about their delicious donuts.
google avatar

Candace M.

Yelp
My favorite is the mimosa & the apple fritter!!! Mimosa gets you right! Fritter isn't 2 sweet, actually just right!! Classic donut has a different flavor taste, not as sweet but good!
google avatar

Steve S.

Yelp
Stopped in as soon as I saw (on Instagram) that they had a Tiramisu donut. Since the traditional dish is a favorite of mine, I was excited to see it offers in a donut form. I also got a donut with chocolate icing and toffee topping. The Tiramisu filling was exactly what I'd hoped for. Not too sweet or rich and just the right amounnt of icing. I would've preferred more espresso flavoring though. The chocolate/toffee donut was very good as www lol although height I actually wouldve preferred it without the toffee ‍ Overall this is a good little stop if you're looking for a sweet tooth craving. The prices are a little high which is what you sHould expect from a downtown artisan place like this.. Not sure what I think about the pairing options with beer but they definitely have it.
google avatar

Kendall S.

Yelp
This spot is just the cutest. From gorgeously decorated and decadent donuts to mimosas you can carry around Sundance Square, this place is bright and cheery and smells so delicious. I've been in twice with my mom and she picked out some goodies for herself and my dad. The sausage rolls rolled up in a bagel, an apple fritter, and a key lime pie donut that looked way too pretty to eat. My parents have said each donut is so good. Being gluten free, I'm waiting for FunkyTown Donuts to get a gf oven for some baked treats, I was told it'll be happening soon!
google avatar

Jules K.

Yelp
I am on the fence on this one. Storefront is super cute, love the presentation and staff was friendly. I didn't realize they served alcohol, what a plus if you're in the mood for some champagne or Prosecco! I picked up a couple of donuts to have later since we were full from lunch. My son got a glazed donut and I chose the passion fruit. I must say I enjoyed my passion fruit donut. I loved the passion fruit curd it had good flavor and the cocoa nibs were great. My sons donut was bad. We couldn't even finish it. The donut was way too dense. I think it worked with the passion fruit since it had filling. The plain donuts need to be lighter, it was way to dense and heavy and didn't have much taste at all. For that I'd recommend NOT getting the plain ones. Get one with filling it's a must. Overall the passion fruit was good, plain not good.
google avatar

Tiffany L.

Yelp
Wow. These donuts are incredibly soft!!! My first time in, no line. I ordered 2 glazed and 1 lavender. My first impression was the soft and doughy texture. That's just what I love in a donut. Glazed was my favorite. The lavender has a lovely aroma. You could smell it. Can't wait to try more!

Catharine G.

Yelp
Such yummy and creative donuts! A great experience to try different flavors regular donut shops don't have!

Payton B.

Yelp
These donuts were insane!!! Way different than your average donut place. Definitely will be going back.

Kumam K.

Yelp
Great customer service! Very clean and nice environment. As someone coming from out of town I expected a bit more. I love donuts but I've realized I'm not so much a 1001 toppings/super sweet donut kind of person so I think I was a bit underwhelmed by what I had.

Jodi M.

Yelp
We were looking forward to trying this donut shop and after sharing 8 donuts between 6 people we all agreed that they were just okay. 6 of the 8 were dry and had no soft "fresh" texture to them. The icing wasn't what I thought it would be. I was expecting a lot more options to choose from, but it was slim picking. The bagel dogs were dry and the sausage was over cooked.
google avatar

Annika S.

Yelp
Such a sweet little donut shop! Walkable from Sundance Square. We always have to be careful at donut shops because of my daughters egg allergy but they had a few different vegan options for her that were all DELICIOUS. We would go back easily!
google avatar

Tami W.

Yelp
I only took one picture from the outside, but believe me- inside is where all the magic is. Just an awesome place!
google avatar

Dawn G.

Yelp
I literally can't sing enough praises about this place, my family and I ADORE FunkyTown Donuts & Drafts!! Fact one: you can't beat the location, just steps from Sundance Square! They have indoor and outdoor seating, but our favorite thing is to grab donuts and beers, then walk over and enjoy them on the square! Yes, that's right, Fact two: you can take your beers to go and enjoy them with your donuts in Sundance Square, no problem! Most people seem shocked when I say this lol, but it needs to become common knowledge cuz it makes for one heck of a cute date, with or without the kids! You even get a cute, purple, FunkyTown Donuts cup that is yours to keep. Make sure you bring it back next time you decide you want beer and donuts. If you do, you'll get yourself a cool $1 off your beer! Another plus, they serve Martin House here, my fave! Fact three: The imagination behind these delicious confections is what keeps us coming back, we freaking love the range of flavors! They are always coming out with new, unique and daring combos! I mean literally, on a weekly basis they are rotating in and out new flavors. The doughnuts themselves are pillowy, and absolute perfection. I find that the balance of sweetness is always spot on and honestly, I'm just blown away at how they nail every flavor, or at least they have with the ones I've tried. I haven't had a doughnut here that I didn't like. Some of my favorite ones from the past are: Cherry Limeade, Strawberry Rhubarb with Cracked Black Pepper, Peach with maple blueberry, Watermelon Tajin, PB and J, and Blueberry Lemon. These are just the ones I can recall off the top of my head! So seriously, if you're in Fort Worth, don't even waste time at other places, c'mon down to FunkyTown Donuts and Drafts!! Where you definitely won't be disappointed :)
google avatar

Casey B.

Yelp
A forever favorite! Dreamscicle had me on cloud 9! These donuts are great, highly recommend! I'm not a donut fan so I wasn't too excited when my sister wanted to stop by... but oh I'm a FunkyTown Donut fan now! I love the size of the donuts...and back to that dreamscicle
google avatar

Ali G.

Yelp
Maybe it's because we came at night and the donuts weren't at the peak of freshness, but I didn't love them. They were alright, but not something I'll go out of my way to come back to. I got the cherry chocolate and chocolate pretzel, and I tried the creme brule and an everything bagel dog. Nothing really stood out as great.

Leyna C.

Yelp
My grandson was disappointed with his donut. He said it was too sweet and not fluffy enough.
