The 20 Best Bars In Bangkok - Bangkok - The Infatuation

"Funk is the top priority at F*nkytown. The disco ball and the disco-funk playlist keep everyone energized as much as the cocktails, which are not afraid to go savory or utilize leftover ingredients from the kitchen. Try the durian colada, which marries the tropical notes of a piña colada with a slightly salty durian foam to balance, as well as the khao soi cocktail, packed with a hit of spices from cardamom, cumin, and curry powder. You’ll see which person is at the bar for the first time just by their reaction to the ingredients in the menu. When you get hungry, order one of their excellent snacks, like krapao beef tartare and chicken wings stuffed with fermented pork sausage." - vichayuth chantan

Unique cocktails, all worth trying. The Red Tofu was quite nice. Good space, not too cramped up like other bars. You feel you can breathe better, and can be a bit relaxed coming here. Staff are very nice and well trained, but a bit hard to flag down as it is dark and they seem too busy to look at you.

The menu and the drinks here are truly incredible. Beautiful venue, beautiful service, and such a creative and well executed menu. Allow yourself at least 4 drinks here as it is impossible to shortlist any fewer drinks 😄 I have to come back and try some of the amazing sounding food dishes next time.

Finally had the chance to check out this amazing bar situated next to EmQuartier. I’d start by saying that the staff and service are amazing. The cocktails and dishes all have a number rating that goes from a simple twist to something really Funky 😆. Really loved the concept and everything we tried. No wonder they are in the best 50th bar list. Definitely coming back.

Quite hard to locate (adding to a more speak easy vibe) inside a cafe, go up to lvl 4 TOM (the bartender) was super fun to chat with. The food is very good (stuffed chicken wings) and the drinks is well balanced and creative. Do try the tom yum highball

They’re amazing! I visited them twice within 3 days in mid May this year. I have booked them more than two months ago before my trip, it’s the second I booked after I booked my flight and they didn’t disappoint me. For my first visit, I was planned to come directly from BkK airport once I arrived. However, I got an Instagram direct message from their team few hours before my booking on the day. They said they tried to reach me through email/phone number but no responses so their marketing team searched me through social media and found only one Christy followed them luckily so they asked if it’s me. It’s genius of them and they wanted to let me know they’re closing at 11pm but I booked for 10:30 so if I can come earlier. As I was just boarded on the plane to fly from Vietnam to BKK, I said I’m not sure if I could make it. Their team replied immediately that they’re sorry for the inconvenience and offered discount if I come back the next day/ letting know if I can come once I landed Bangkok. I chose the second choice and they even asked me what specific drinks/food I’d be interested so they could ask the kitchen to reserve them for me. At this point, before my visit, I already felt so touched and planned for the second visit within my trip. Turns out I got enough time to go from airport, they reserved the table that I specifically noted on the booking for me(some introvert space). All drinks and food were amazing with an interesting twist! Caneles that caught my eyes from months ago were delicious. The staff and bartenders were amazing too. I can’t find a point to blame them. On my second visit, I booked for an early slot so no customer was there. I was lucky to sit at the bar table and chitchat with the staff and photographing all the details. I ordered two drinks, canele and macaron and beef tartare this time. Everything is crazily good. At last, the bartender (should be Plai?) who served me both days even offered a free shot before I leave. I felt so glad being in this place and highly recommend it to everyone!

We rolled into Funkytown on a Saturday before heading out and it was exactly the right call. The drinks were super creative, well-balanced, and fun. Small bites were on point — great flavors, great presentation, perfect for sharing. Vibe was stylish but relaxed, and service was smooth all the way through. Definitely a spot to start your night with style. Big up didi for the recommendations

Funkytown is an experience in various aspects. Firstly, it feels a bit like time travelling. With each flight of stairs climbed towards the 4th floor, you feel closer to the 1970s. Once you enter the space, you find yourself in a hip bar, perhaps in 1973 New York, with earthy tones and plush fabric upholstery. Period correct Funk is playing. But the other dimension is the second meaning of the word Funk. Don’t expect anything normal, this is an experimental cocktail lab and the giant jars containing mysterious concoctions on the bar shelves are akin to living lava lamps. Cocktails are rated by level of “funk”, which is practical for the less adventurous patrons. It can get quite extravagant, a Caesar salad or Green Curry cocktail might not be for the faint of heart. And the Final Funky boss would probably be the Duck Liver Pâté Old fashioned. We were moderately adventurous and chose the matcha fizz, the Long Island Thai Tea, the Thai Tea Tarik which is based on Malaysia’s favourite sweet tea drink. Overall a great experience. The barkeeper guided us through the process and gave perfect advice. We will come back to try the food one day.

Had a fun time at Funkytown. You need to climb many steps to get there though. Their drinks were creatively made with very interesting flavours. We had caesar salad, tang yuan, umai and pate old-fashioned. Staff may warn you about the funky flavours but the cocktails were nothing weird, very delicious in fact. Great place to wind down!
