Love the chain, but needs to improve on the boba basics.
I've been here since Nashville got its first boba place, and I've been waiting for the day that one of my favorite chains would make Nashville its home. Extra kudos to Chatime for settling down right in between two college campuses, and I'll definitely be back to try their student meals.
That being said, there's a lot of room for improvement. I've had/tasted the classic milk tea, taro, oolong, jasmine green, and thai, with varying combos of toppings. My thoughts:
- sweetness scale is WAY off. I don't know what kind of kids they're catering to, but the amount of sugar in 50% sweetness is still too much. Especially for the Thai - I had to go get that changed because my roommate was gagging. Just let us know when you fix the scale, I'll be going for 0%-30% in the meanwhile.
- boba is very smooshy mushy, not QQ at all. Having resorted to making our own boba, we know a good trick or two when it comes to cooking pearls - these just seemed way too overcooked.
- my first visit, when I asked for the sweetness to be changed, the bobarista had their mask on the chin and hair untied. I get that it's a new place, but the quality of service is still important esp during a pandemic :-)
I think a lot of people are super hyped for this place, and rightfully so. Looking forward editing this review as time & quality goes up!
