Furniture City Creamery is hands down one of my favorite ice cream shops in Grand Rapids! You just can’t beat fresh, homemade ice cream, and they truly are the best. I love their bold variety of flavors and how they’re always rotating in new ones—it keeps every visit exciting! I recently stopped by to celebrate Ice Cream for Breakfast Day, and it was such a fun experience! They had creative flavors like Chicken & Waffles, Fruity Pebbles, and Blueberry Pancakes. While I wasn’t quite bold enough to try the Chicken & Waffles, the Blueberry Pancakes flavor was absolutely to die for—so delicious! Beyond the amazing ice cream, I love the charm of their adorable shop and the friendly staff who always make the experience even sweeter. If you’re looking for a top-notch sweet treat in Grand Rapids, I highly recommend Furniture City Creamery!

The ice cream was great, the service was also great, and the fellowship was even better! I’d definitely return with friends again for the ice cream. I would say that the atmosphere could be better- I did visit in May, so maybe it’s a little rough looking in spring and gets better in the summer? I’d have to revisit to check it out- because it just seemed a little worn down. The idea is good- a back patio with some vines and decent seating, but it was a bit overgrown with a lot of dead leaves all over the ground. I recognize it’s outside, but it’s line visiting an elder person’s home- one where they’re struggling to take care of it, you know? But the ice cream! It’s good. Very tasty. The ship overall is quaint and I’d definitely like to try it again.

Since moving to GR almost a year ago, this has definitely become my favorite spot to get a sweet treat! I’m very picky about my ice cream, but I like theirs because it tastes fresh. They rotate the flavors a lot, and my absolute favorite is Cookie Monster, it is the best ice cream I’ve ever had!!! The waffle cones are amazing, too! I come here wayyyy too much, but I’m not gonna stop anytime soon…

Stopped in to try their hand crafted ice cream, and really happy I did. Lots of choices, I picked the WhatChaMaCallIt ice cream in a bowl, excellent. I’d get it again but learned that the flavors change and aren’t always available. So…I’ll come again and try something different. Definitely worth a visit. Highly recommended.

I got the peanut butter Oreo in a milkshake and it was so good! It was a little over priced and we had to wait in line for about 20 minutes. The ice cream was great but for the price I’m iffy!

I recently tried Furniture City with some friends on our day off. The shop is located on Cherry Street, surrounded by other shops and restaurant. It's the perfect spot to walk around any time of the year. There metered street parking all around and you can probably get a free spot in the surrounding neighborhoods if you don't mind a walk. For a small space, there are tons of options for a frozen treat. From ice cream sundaes to milkshakes, there are options for everyone. I thought the flavors were both familiar with the classics but also innovative and fun with flavors like chocolate covered potato chip. There were also vegan flavors and notes about gluten, nuts, and other allergens for the other ice creams as well. One of my friends has food allergies and the staff were very kind, patient, and understanding when discussing these issues. Furniture City Creamery has two outdoor sitting areas, one in front and one in the back. The shop itself is quite small inside but the outdoor areas are quite nice and the back patio has great photo ops. I definitely hope to come back more this summer!

Cute spot with a solid range of ice cream, including a couple of vegan options (which I think rotate). When I went, they had trans joy and vanilla. Both were good, but definitely leaned more sorbet-like than super creamy. The line was way too long for what it was, but my friends got other flavors and were fans. They also can make anything into a shake but it's definitely a little more pricey.

I forgot to take pictures but this little creamery had it going on! It is a tiny establishment, so the line was out the door but it moved quickly. Both workers were very pleasant and kind. They have about 12 different flavors to choose from, mostly basic, and then some specialty flavors. The vanilla malt chocolate chunk and peanut butter Oreo were so flavorful! For 3 people plus a tip it was about $20. Very reasonable. Will definitely be back!

Wonderful service! Everyone behind the counter was so sweet and helpful. Very generous portion. They have a waffle cup and cone options which I love. Limited flavors that seem to rotate but so many topping options that you could definitely create your favorite combination. Lots of outdoor seating in the front and back.

Tried the D pop shake with grape Fargo on a Thursday evening. Not top busy. Parking is not great but is anything on Cherry st. The drink was over $9 & change. It had a cute esthetic w purple whip cream on top. The staff was not very friendly. While waiting for my drink I tried talking to the other staff but she ignored me. The taste was good w the nerds inside but the whip cream was tasteless & greasy.

We got to try Furniture City Creamery's ice cream from their food truck at a wedding and it was SO GOOD. Lots of locals talk about Furniture City Creamery, but we hadn't tried it for ourself. I'm super surprised that all their ice cream is scratch made--it's perfectly sweet and very creamy. Absolutely perfect for a hot day. I'm looking forward to trying them again soon!

Delicious ice cream!! I tried the seasonal flavors (peppermint bark and reindeer traxx-- amazing together) and my boyfriend got a peanut butter shake! Very cute and colorful store. Nowhere to sit inside in the Winter, so we ate in the car! Very friendly service, too! Top tier!

Ritz crackers and Nutella in ice cream? Sure, why not. I'll take a scoop. But wait, there's an option to do a half scoop? So I can choose another half flavor? Heck yes! I was hoping for another unique flavor...right next to Ritz and Nutella is carrot cake. Score! But how will they taste? Deeeeeelicious! Here's to trying and savoring more scoops at Furniture City Creamery!

Our last night out on vacation we came here and it did not disappoint. My mom was surprised to see a soda she enjoyed a few nights earlier right there on display. One of my best ice creams on vacation and we ate a ton of it lol. Ambiance was cute.

I am from Wisconsin. So I know my fairy. This ice cream was GOOD. The mint flavor was perfect and they didn't overdo it green dye. There were FULL Oreos in this ice cream which I enjoyed. They didn't have a ton of flavors but I honestly prefer that, you know what you're getting is going to be quality. Was nice to sit in the patio and people watch. Staff were quick and friendly.

Yummy icecream and lovely place. Everyone is very kind :) the pup cups are a great addition to those who have dogs.

This place was expensive and stingy. I asked to taste a few and the lady put such a small amount on the tasting stick it actually surprised me, like it was a joke. Then I ordered a child's scoop, which came out to around 4 dollars and the scoop was also so small that I finished it in about 5 spoon fulls. Overall, I felt like it was a waste of 4 dollars for such a tiny amount of ice cream, I will not go back

An excellent little ice cream shop, just down the street from the Green Well, with intense and delicious flavors. The cherry ice cream tastes like ... cherries; the mint ice creams (such as the grasshopper) are always excellent; and this time I especially liked the "home run," a crackerjack ice cream made of salted caramel filled with crunchy sweet/salty mixed ins, to an almost excessive level that gave it a gravelly and yet addictive consistency. They make their own waffle cones too. Nice patio, good service. I look forward to stopping in this part of Grand Rapids every year.

Furniture City Creamery, is a fun place for ice cream. They have a nice selection of homemade ice cream and allow the customer to sample it, before making a decision. Service is usually good, but not outstanding. The place is small, but the outdoor seating area in front and back is available. Be sure to try the Salted Carmel or my wife's favorite, Molasses. A bit pricy, but worth a visit.

Tiny space inside with no room for sitting so you have to order and go. Roughly $5 for a small scoop and $7 for a small sundae. The texture is almost like gelato. Thick, but less gooey. I got the strawberry. It's light in flavor. Nothing like conventional strawberry ice cream which I normally dislike, but I enjoy this version. The sundaes are served with hard serve ice cream. Overall, quality ice cream but shop is tiny and doesn't allow for dining.

This is my 2nd review after 8 years of their service people! We used to live down the street and seriously came here once or twice a month for the longest time. A couple years ago we relocated south but every summer we come home and this place has been a staple. Some restaurants or venues change over time and it can be disappointing but Furniture City Creamery has been extremely tasty for a decade!

We stood in a relatively long line at around 10pm on a Friday, but the girls at the counter moved quickly so the line moved along quite fast. There were many cool flavors that were offered - according to their website, they make small batches and once they run out, a new flavor is added in its place. That is pretty cool and fun! There were tons of vegan options, which is great for people who are lactose intolerant, or just... vegans! I am actually lactose intolerant (developed in my mid-20s... so sad...) but it did not deter me from trying their regular ice creams! I decided to be boring and go for vanilla bean and chocolate fudge (one of my favorite combos). It was alright, I was surprised by how more icy it tasted, rather than rich and milky. It might be a personal preference, but I like my ice cream more smooth and lush, and the ice cream I had here was more light and moderately on the stiff side. It wasn't as satiating as I would have liked it, but It was still good. I think it caught me by surprise, since I feel like the ice cream shops I've been to have mostly been on the rich and smooth side. Maybe because it was late on a Friday, but the workers seemed pretty cold. They were curt and just seemed like they wanted to finish the night. I understand it is late, but I think some smiles or polite acknowledgement would have been nice. There is street parking. There are no tables and seats inside the shop, but there are some benches outside you can sit on. But it is fun to walk around the area while you eat your ice cream.

We tried quite a few things from here and all of them were big hits. All of the ice cream flavors were delicious, especially those that had a ton of mix-ins. Cake was so creamy, if you're a fan of peanut butter you'll love it. The brownie on the bottom was still a bit frozen (see pic for details). The Barbie stuff they had on Halloween was hands down some of the best ice cream I've ever had. I'd reorder everything we got here, definitely worth the price.

Visited for an after dinner treat. We ordered a small bowl (2 scoops, can be 2 different flavors) and a milkshake. The total was around $13. The inside is small but employees welcoming. There are some benches in the front to sit and it looked like a seating area in the back as well. They have vegan and gluten free flavors with a daily flavor menu on the outside window. The milkshake was creamy and rich. The ice cream is hard (I don't think there were any soft serve options), full of flavor and inclusions.

Adorable local ice cream shop ! This little ice cream shop was so charming. All I thought of is that it reminded me of a my first small town ice cream shop experience in Wellesley, Massachusetts. The ice cream was so rich and creamy, I didn't even stop to snap a photo. However, I did enjoy my half and half on a waffle cone.

Love the location! There are such cute shops to visit while in the area or just stroll down the street with your ice cream! It's your typically creamery set up and service. They have individual sized cakes and different ice cream combos you can choose from. Flavor was delicious and price was great! If you want to try interesting flavors at a small batch place you'll love furniture city creamery. They have shakes and ice cream sandwiches available but I always go for a cone. They have monthly flavors and partner with community organizations - what a combo! The malty chocolate flavor is delicious and their sugar cookie ice cream is out of this world. It is a small store, so expect to wait a bit if you go during peak times - but it is worth it!!

Every single time I've been to a place that has vegan ice cream, I might like it when I first try it, but then I try the real ice cream and I bail on the vegan stuff immediately. This place has great real ice cream, and vegan ice cream that actually stands beside it. I actually went with a waffle cone including one scoop of vegan and one scoop of real. The reason it works apparently is the coconut milk used to make the vegan ice cream. Whichever one you want, this place is on a cool little street in GR that I would highly recommend visiting if you're exploring the city.

my partner and I are spoiled with furniture city creamery being only a 3 minute walk from our house. surprisingly we have lived here for almost a year and we have just recently gone (i'm not a big ice cream girl). they have great vegan options (picture of vegan menu below). i got the vegan dirty turtle sundae which had waffle cone pieces, pecans, caramel sauce, and chocolate sauce. the vanilla ice cream itself was good but i was really in it for the toppings. my boyfriend got a pint of chocolate covered pretzel which i would kill for a vegan version of. i follow them on social media and they always post cool specials they have on their story. there is seating out front and in the back. overall a nice vegan inclusive ice cream shop in the area.

Every selection is packed full of flavor. Every time we drive past this place there is a line around the block. I'm assuming due to the extreme flavors and their vegan options is why this place Is so highly recommended. I really enjoyed my ice cream but it was a little rich for me. I underestimated how rich it would be, and chose two scoops. One scoop would of be perfect. Definitely a quality shop that makes quality ice cream. Ask to try their flavors before just picking one. The double brownie tasted like she was able to pack 20 brownies in this bad boy. The lady who served us was so nice, and pleasant. The shop was very clean and well maintained. They also have a list of all the organizations they donate to in the local area. I enjoyed the ice cream and enjoyed their company direction of giving back to the community. It's companies like this that make the community we live in better. If you live in the area and haven't gone then don't miss out. The line around the corner on most summer nights should be enough to convince most.

I'm writing this as I eat one of my favorite's from here - Cocoa ice cream. Smooth chocolate with mini marshmallows - delicious and comforting. Furniture City became a fast favorite after I moved to the area. Their product is so creamy and fresh, and the flavors rotate so there's always something new to try. It makes your favorites even more special when they're on the menu, because they don't last forever! Luckily, they always come back at some point. I personally stock up on their "Fudgesicle" ice cream when it's available. Staff are always super friendly and patient while you decide your customizations. As someone who craves ice cream often, I love that they're open year-round. While they're definitely more expensive than some of the fast options like Dairy Queen or McDonalds, the quality of their products make it so worth it.

Furniture City sits in the midst of various shops, so it is the perfect spot to pop in for a cool treat. The small batch ice cream trend is totally attractive to me, so a friend and I went on a recent trip. The girl working was very friendly, and she let us each try multiple flavors. We quickly got our ice cream and sat out front, but there is also a nice courtyard in the back. It was a hot day, but the ice cream helped cool me off a tiny bit. I had one scoop in a bowl--part coconut and part dreamsicle. The flavors went together very well. Something else I loved was that they seem to be big on reducing, reusing, and recycling, as seen with metal taster spoons (opposed to plastic) and a bin for recycling or compost (literally all of the materials they gave us). I appreciate an Earth-friendly business. I would definitely recommend Furniture City Creamery to anyone who likes ice cream (and who doesn't like ice cream?!?!?!)!

In love with this place. They have a few regular standbys as well as a seasonal rotation. If you sign up for their newsletter, they let you know when they are making major changes to the flavor lineup. Curbside ordering is a breeze, and they have a nice and simple ordering platform on their website. I absolutely adore their Mexican Mocha Shake--they have a vegan option which is just as tasty. In the summer months, you can eat out back but walking around and window shopping through Cherry St. is just as fun to me. The dog also loves this place because they offer pre scooped pup cups which are yogurt, pb and banana for $2.

Furniture City Creamery is such a fun spot and the perfect place to enjoy a warm day like today! And don't forget to bring your pup with you!! They even have a "pup cup" which is made with all natural yogurt, peanut butter, and bananas. We also hear that Furniture City Creamery's vegan ice cream is PHENOMENAL! They offer vegan ice cream, shakes, ice cream sandwiches, and sundaes, and the flavors are far from boring!

Every time we visit East Hills we stop by here for dessert. The ice cream is so well made and they have a unique flavors. My favorite is the "putting on the ritz". It has Nutella and ritz crackers in it an odd combo but let me know tell you it was amazing and I don't even like Nutella very much.

This is a super cute local ice spot! The great thing about this spot is they also have multiple vegan options. There is no indoor seating but there is some seating in the backyard. The backyard is decorated and is beautiful. I ordered the creme Brule ice cream, unfortunately it wasn't for me. It had a strange taste that I can't describe, unlike any other ice cream I have ever had. Due to covid, they are not offering any samples right now. I do really want to like this spot so will plan to go back and try again.

The Peanut Butter Oreo Shake with strawberry sauce is the best thing I've ever put in my mouth.

Love this place! It's down the road from where my fiancé works and they have a cute little vibe. They're very friendly, and the flavors of ice creams change and are always super creative. In the back they have a few little tables to sit at as well. I recommend the peanut butter Oreo flavor when they have it! Prices are decent, and they give samples.

Furniture city creamery is a small and homey ice cream shop in Grand Rapids. It is my understanding that they specialize in vegan ice cream? I had a vegan peanut butter chocolate chip ice cream which was quite nice. It is very peanut butter forward in a very pleasant way. The texture of the ice cream is very interesting. It's somewhat chewy, reminds me of cookie dough. It is pretty pleasant trust me. My partner in crime had the vegan chocolate shake. It was quite nice as well. Not overly sweet and had a strong cacao flavor which was really nice. But the real magic is when you take a spoon of the peanut butter ice cream and dip it into the chocolate shake. The slightly bitter chocolate flavor compliments the peanut butter nicely. You're welcome for the life hack. As for other pluses, the shop has these mini green houses people can sit in. They have heaters so you won't become an icicle. I had a nice experience. I recommend :) PS partner in crime says 10/10

FOUR STARS! What a hot spot! This town is poppin with a melting pot of cultures and plenty of college aged fun. Walk around and stumble upon this ice cream shop. We walked around back and were served really fast even with a long line. The ice cream is hand made and more on the organic side. The kids liked it but didn't love it as much an a traditional shop where the ice cream is packed with sugar. The shop is creative with flavors and you can easily over do it with toppings. Keep it simple and take yourself back to old fashion ice cream! Enjoy!

This is a modest ice cream shop that offers good, but not amazing ice cream. They have a majority of the people pleasing flavors that sell easily but wont be instagram worthy. I tried a few flavors and thought they were OK. The peanut butter chocolate flavor stood out the most. Otherwise, this is an OK ice cream shop in the neighborhood that has no other options.

We booked the Furniture City Creamery ice cream truck for our wedding in the middle of February (a little unorthodox, I know :)), and oh my, did they come through! They handed out really generous servings to our guests and offered a variety of flavors that were ALL delicious! We were particularly excited about their vegan options for our vegan guests. It was the perfect whimsical touch to our wedding day, and Rachel was absolutely lovely to work with! 100% recommend booking their ice cream truck (or just visiting their shop) at any time of year! I experienced an unflattering interaction with staff which was beyond unprecedented in today's national climate. I intended on simply enjoying my ice cream but instead, the young team member had a negative counterreaction towards every inquiry I made and insulted my intelligence. I couldn't identify if the team member was male or female and I don't want to misidentify their gender so I will refer to them a Zir. Zir refused to scoop my ice cream in the cone I paid for and then insisted on me scooping it myself in my truck.. I was perplexed. I told Zir I didn't want to make a mess doing it myself and I would appreciate it if they could do it for me. Zir THEN proceeded to tell me that a mess will be made in my truck with the cone anyway. I was infected at this point and I gave Zir a piece of my mind and said that they failed that evening on providing customer service. As I mentioned to Zir, I didn't want to write a review but as a consumer and a business owner, I was compelled to write this for the business owner's sake. The ice cream tastes good but the customer service was horrendous.

The ice cream is okay. It was not very creamy. It's a tiny place so if you value your personal space, you may not like it. I would not recommend but would go back because my fat butt loves ice cream.

Furniture City Creamery is a local ice cream shop in a cool part of town with shops and restaurants. The shop itself is more like a parlor with patio seating in the back. We went right before they closed for a few weeks in the winter so pints were on sale. They let you try every flavor and the s'more one was a winner. However, compared to other ice creams, this one was more watery and less flavorful.

I'm slightly lactose-sensitive, so I was excited to try some vegan ice cream (I can still eat regular ice cream, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to try vegan). On my first visit I had the vegan coconut and chocolate chip, which is fantastic! I have also tried the salted caramel (very good and rich) and the fudgsicle (tastes just like the popsicle!). They let you have small tastes of flavors, which is really nice. I tried the oatmeal cookie and it was overly spiced for me. Like an oatmeal cookie punched you in the mouth! Not my favorite. The only thing that bothered me was the attitude of the girl who was scooping when I went in. She didn't smile once, and was very curt in her handling of us. "Do you know what you want yet?" vs. "Would you like to sample anything?" is just a small thing, but it makes such a difference in a customer's experience. At least for me. I noticed that as soon as she was done scooping our ice cream (and as other people walked in and were standing in front of the counter), she went over to the sitting area and sat down and started talking to a friend. I wish she had been a little more professional and friendly. I won't let it keep me from going back, because I saw a blueberry flavor that looked awesome! You can get the ice cream in cups or homemade waffle cones, yum! They also have gluten free treats, like cookies and brownies, and mini ice cream sandwiches!

This is usually our number one choice when it comes to ice cream in this area. I like their unique flavors such as lucky charms, creme brûlée, grape, and others. The staff has always been friendly but they seem to get annoyed when people want multiple samples (can't blame them). The back patio seating is relaxing and perfect for dogs and kids. The only negative I can think of is that it's very small and the flavors can run out quickly.

Always wanted to try FC Creamery, and since I'm a foodie for ice cream, I was anxious to give them a try. This was during Covid days, when you order online and have it delivered outside, and I think the slow down has created problems. Both my wife and I tried a single of 'oatmeal cookie,' and we both were disappointed. Flavors were ok, but the texture was really off. Ice cream shouldn't be 'crumbly.' It tasted of freezer burn. My best guess is that homestyle ice cream doesn't have a lot of shelf life, and this was way past its prime. I know this isn't normal for a business like this, and I plan on trying them again when the quarantine ends.

Furniture City Creamery is a new and welcome addition to the East Hills area of Cherry St. When I heard they served up homemade, small batch ice creams in unique favors, I knew I needed to stop by and give them a taste. My 4 yr old and I made a special trip to the Creamery on a weekday mid-afternoon. We were able to get a parking space directly out front, but I imagine parking would be harder to come by in the evenings and on weekends. The hanging sign out front is adorable, with an overstuffed chair made to resemble a scoop of ice cream on a cone: clever. The interior is very small as about half the space is devoted to the counter and open kitchen. There were about a dozen flavors available and the friendly staff offered samples. The flavors were marked on the dipping case as to which were gluten free &/or vegan. I sampled the Mojito, a bright, refreshing, and well-balanced flavor with grated lime rind. My daughter chose the Strawberry Lemonade which was a nice mix of tart and sweet while somehow managing to be a tad creamy! Spying the Van's Donuts flavor which I just knew was a must-try, I wondered aloud what to pair it with and the staff member suggested the Madcap Coffee. Of course! Van's Donuts has a nice sweet vanilla base (almost akin to 'cake batter') with decent-sized hunks of donut that hold up in texture and composition very well in the ice cream. It also contains sprinkles (for the donut) which I personally could do without. Madcap Coffee contained ground coffee and had a bold, roasted finish. The two flavors complimented one another perfectly. When we arrived, we were the only customers. As we ate, the store filled up with a gaggle of fellow treat-seekers and became crowded. The store's set-up could certainly be problematic with a rush; if you enter from the front, you first encounter the register and the dipping cabinet is in the back. Space gets pretty tight back there with a few customers in front of the case ordering and sampling. Perhaps encouraging customers to enter from the rear (which is handicap accessible and also boasts a quaint patio) would provide a logical scoop-and-pay flow during busy times. Furniture City Creamery's Facebook page has daily flavor updates and info about special events. We will definitely be back to enjoy some more delicious ice cream-- hopefully they will have the Carrot Cake flavor that piqued my interest! Having lived in Columbus, OH, the unofficial ice cream capital of the Midwest, I can say that this place holds its own against the artisanal, local, and non-traditional flavored goodness of a shop like Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams. I look forward to Furniture City Creamery's offerings throughout the year!
