"A Metairie family-owned tradition since 1967, this straightforward Creole Italian and seafood eatery serves copious portions of the kind of food mama made. There are daily plate specials, so naturally Monday’s is Fury’s take on red beans and rice served with a choice of hot or smoked sausage, or — wait for it — a hamburger patty." - Eater Staff

Stopped in this little restaurant last night last minute and I’m telling you I’m so glad we did. Crawfish bread, gumbo, stuffed bell pepper with shrimp and the stuffed flounder was out of this world came with your choice of side and the potato salad sooo good ! And oh the meatballs!!!!🤗. I could go on and on. The food was absolutely delicious. Service was incredible, I had to take a picture of the chefs and the staff So I could put it in my review. We will definitely be back.

This was the best fried seafood we have eaten in a long time. This soft shell crab was a monster .. and cooked perfectly !

The first server was lackadaisical and seemed irritated by questions, may have been overwhelmed or distracted by something else, second server took over and was friendly and did a good job. Frankly, the food wasn't worth the price. The hamburger steak wasn't as good as I could make myself, the mashed potatoes were fine, the gravy was good although I wouldn't have been surprised if it turned out to be prepackaged mix. The broccoli with cheese side vegetable tasted good but was mostly inedible because most of the broccoli was too tough to stick a fork in. The best thing that came to the table was an order of onion rings that were tasty and crispy. Nothing was horrible but you just expect a bit more effort for the price.

the food critic for the local paper in New Orleans had recommended a couple of restaurants tbd other day and one looked really good so we decided to check it out. The restaurant is located in Metairie near the Orleans Parish line. The restaurant does accept reservations but generally it’s not needed. the restaurant is somewhat small and casual which was nice but also made it somewhat awkward if you sat in the walkway. we started off with the onion rings and then ordered the eggplant parmesan, the stuffed bell pepper with pasta, trout with seafood on top, and finally shrimp and pasta. the portions were a good size but it lacked flavor. the cheese on the eggplant parmesan tasted prepackaged and there was a lack of flavor for the sauce. we have been to other italian restaurants which have a better flavor and better sauce. the fish with seafood and sauce was decent as was the stuffed bell pepper, but the accompanying pasta had minimal flavor and the shrimp and pasta also had minimal flavor. overall a disappointing experience. decent portions but minimal taste of the food. the service was also not good and it was expensive so overall not worth it in my opinion

We used to live in Metairie, and we haven't been here in years and we're glad we did. Four of us ate here and love it. The food was amazing. I miss having good Nola food like this. The service was fun and attentive. Jessica is the best!

Forgot about this place until I saw it on HTM's RB&R recently. I made a mental note for next night out with a friend. When it was time, I made a reservation and I SO DONT regret it! Both of us had a fish entree. I had trout, she had redfish. Exactly what I wanted, even down to the creamed spinach. The wine selection was on the short side, though only offering quality. A sign of a well ran restaurant. My fish was marked "MP" and I was very surprised at the price when we paid the check. Definitely less than I expected. 100% will go back in the near future.

Ok I stopped in on the way to the airport and had the fried oysters and they blew my mind. I've never had fried seafood this good. The tartar sauce was also ridiculously delicious. I am definitely coming back on the way back to the airport! The cocktails and wine were really good too. The bartender was really sweet and came over and made us a special drink.

We loved dining a Fury’s! The Bourbon Old Fashions were perfectly made and the Crawfish Bread appetizer was amazing. The seafood entrees were generous and well seasoned. Definitely a place to enjoy on a regular basis!

Yelp
Food was excellent, menu had plenty to choose from, and great service. Can't wait to go back!

Yelp
We recently visited for lunch and both had excellent meals! I had the grilled shrimp salad and my husband had the veal pasta. Both were delicious, and perfectly seasoned and prepared. The restaurant has been renovated since we were there years ago and it is a nice spot for brunch, lunch or dinner, with a diverse menu sure to satisfy even the pickiest of diners. We'll definitely be back ASAP!

Yelp
This is my first trip back to Furies after being a regular customer for over 30 years and they did a nice job of redoing the place especially the bar. However, the food isn't quite up to par. The Italian sausage had very little flavor and the red gravy just wasn't as good as I remember it then again is it ever.my waitress was not very attentive and my overall experience unfortunately was lacking. Unfortunately I may not be back.

Stacy R.

Yelp
It was our first time at this little gem, but certainly not our last. Service was outstanding. Several servers and staff helped us. We felt so comfortable and right at home. One of the servers recommended the Fried Flounder Carrie, and she was absolutely right. My husband and I shared it, and we still took half home. We can't wait to go back and try more dishes!

Jamie B.

Yelp
I give it 3 stars and not 1 star because the new owner did comp the meal, but this meal was a true hot - or should I say - cold mess. The basics are, we went during the summer, and it was early before rush hour dinner around 530/6pm on a Friday, I believe. The restraurant was pretty humid and hot, but most restaurants were since this summer had record breaking heat and I don't think that anyone's ac could keep up. We were greeted somewhat timely by a not so friendly waitress. She took our drink orders and that was about the only thing she got right. The appetizers were all messed up. I ordered one app, but she tried to give me two. My mom ordered one app, and she tried to give her two... but she actually argued with my mom which was totally wrong of her to do and we were forced to take it. I realize after her screw up with my app, she was probbaly embarrassed to go back to the kitchen and admit she had another screw up, so she instad took it out on the customer, which in my opinion was the worst thing that happened. After that, I mean, only the fried food was correct as well as actually cooked. We got extra fries/missing apps. One dish was supposed to be blacked but it was fried, the waitress didn't say they weren't blackening the fish anymore that day. The other dishes were not even cooked, some dishes and sides were missing. So many things incorrect. The new owner came over and appologized and like I said comped the meal. He was truly pleasnt. He said the warmer was broken and so many other things.... Overall, we have not been back, but I may give them another chance when the new owners figure things out in a year or so.

Josh A.

Yelp
This place has classic New Orleans food, with a traditional neighborhood feel. The bar is awesome, a real local neighborhood bar. The drinks aren't too fancy, but it's just classic. Order the broiled flounder or the flounder with crab if you want a real treat. I was able to get attention quickly from the server who took care of me. She was funny and attentive. I think they've improved their service issues from some earlier reviews. I got the flounder topped with crab meat, which they call flounder Carrie.

Thomas V.

Yelp
Food ingredients were much less than fresh. Crabmeat smelled sour on a to go order. The crabmeat had been blended into the sauce so that it was totally invisible in the crabmeat au gratin dish.Hamburger meat also had a very odd taste. I wish these new owners well, but serving bad food will kill a restaurant very quickly. Service was excellent. Ambiance is greatly improved from the old restaurant.

Marc L.

Yelp
I'll start off by saying the new management is on point. Wow! Great food. I had a cup of gumbo and the Trout Carrie. So much jumbo crab on top the trout. OMG, so good! The trout also came with a salad and a side. I had the potato salad, not picture. All were good. We also had some crawfish bread.....full of tails! Our server Nicky was on point. They also have daily specials like red beans and rice on Mondays. The ambience is much improved also. If you haven't been here lately, I would definitely try it again.

Lisa L.

Yelp
I visited on a busy Monday evening. The crawfish bread was delicious, full of cheese and plenty of crawfish. I opted for the Flounder Carrie l, and I was not disappointed at all!! The flounder was huge and filled with lump crab meat!! So much crab meat it was over flowing the fish. The taste of both the crab meat and flounder was great and not heavy at all. The side of Angel hair noodles was perfect combo.

Aurora K.

Yelp
We went last night with friends and had a fabulous experience! When you're pulling up, the outside of the restaurant gives the impression that this is strip-mall variety food, so I was hesitant at first. But after eating here I get it... they're trying to stay under the radar because if word got out, the place would be packed all the time. Our meals were stunning. This isn't a regular family restaurant. This is the place you go if you know Creole seafood. I got frog legs as an appetizer and we also got crawfish bread to share. For an entree I got the shrimp plate and a salad. I was trying not to have too much fried food, so I got the shrimp grilled. They were amazing.

Ava S.

Yelp
Fury's is one of my favorite restaurants in New Orleans. My favorite dish is spaghetti and meatballs, but I really love the salad dressings! The blue cheese dressing is to die for. The waiters who work there have all been there forever, so they know the menu and the customers really well. They're friendly and chatty. I really like the new renovation as well. They've brightened the place up a lot.

Becky K.

Yelp
We had dinner here tonight. We have eaten here many times over the years but it had been some time. According to our server the restaurant was sold back in February and the food is supposedly the same. It has been remodeled and it looks great! I have never been served anything other than wonderful food at Fury's, but I must say this evening I ordered the crab salad and it was the BEST thing I have ever gotten there. It was perhaps the best crab salad I have ever had and I have eaten more than my share of crab salads. This one was maybe even better than Clancy's and that is saying something. The remoulade dressing was absolutely delicious and there was SO much crabmeat plus three shrimp. YUM.

Jeanne C.

Yelp
I had recently read Ian McNulty's recommendation of the crabmeat au gratin at Fury's in his column in the newspaper, so was excited it, being that it's something that's not on many menus any more. Everything was fine except the main dish, which did not have crabmeat in it! It was some kind of rubbery white fish, without the texture or taste of crabmeat. I've lived here most of my life, so know what crabmeat tastes like! However, I didn't want to spoil my friend's dinner experience (she had ordered something else, which she was enjoying), so I waited and wrote a letter to the manager. However, this was about two weeks ago and I haven't heard anything from him. So, needless to say, I'll never go there again.

Alvin M.

Yelp
Food was not so good. Service was terrible. Owner/manager didn't seem to care. Will not be going back!

Leona V.

Yelp
This restaurant is a hidden Jewel in Metairie. We dying tonight at a table of eight and can't say enough about our server Natalie and the perfect timing of all the different courses. The food was exceptional. I can't really think of anything on the menu that would be, I don't order. If you don't take the time to go to this restaurant, your taste buds are dead.

Charlotte S.

Yelp
the prices of the food are outrageouly high, the small portion sizes and the lack of quality ingredients is unacceptable, the waiters and waitresses lack of proper training or total lack of concern is abrasive and insulting, the lack of acceptable quality silverware and glassware and plates is offensive, the plastic covered unsanitary sticky menus is something you would expect at a 24 hour diner at truck stops. the formerly tasty tomatoe sauce is no longer there from the previous owner. the flooors are dirty and the bathroom is unbelievably tiny even for one single slender person. the choice of music is from the 1940's. if you expect a to go container , you will be looked upon with distain. the bread is stale and soaked with a buttery oily sustance. the new owners are very arrogant and abrasive , not humble, kind, friendly or open to suggestions. the help is very sitting at the cash register openly complaining about their tips and making insulting remarks about various customers as they walk past on their way to the rest room. the help thinlks it is totally ok to drag ther garbage past customers tables to put the garbage in the dumpster which is locateds right next to the front entrance, while they are attempting to eat, the tables are so close that you can literally hear everyones conversations. the water glasses look filthy, the sodas are full of ice from the never cleaned ice maker machine. all of the help calls you baby and looks burned out and exhausted . try faustos, or the louisiana pizza kitchen or cafe degas for a trully enjoyable experience, great prices for the value and a clean environment with friendly help. this furys is a toxic environment.

Yelp
MUST TRY IN NEW ORLEANS This restaurant is amazing!! Food was delicious and great service too. Loved the atmosphere. My favorite dish was definitely the broiled flounder, but everything was delicious. Would recommend 100% and will definitely be going back the next time I'm in New Orleans.

Kait L.

Yelp
I was hoping to write a more positive review because in the past all of my meals here were good to very good. I've eaten here off and on for many years. I ordered take out with the fried eggplant medallions which was excellent, perfectly fried, light and no taste of bitterness, and the red gravy was very good also. I also ordered the shrimp pasta which is fried (or grilled) shrimp over angel hair pasta with a butter garlic sauce. I have had this dish there before and it was delicious. They must have changed the recipe because it is now awful. The shrimp were nice and large and perfectly fried. But the butter garlic sauce had many large pieces of garlic that were rock hard and there was no taste of butter at all. I wonder if they substituted olive oil. The sauce had a really bad taste and I had to scrape it off the pasta in order to eat it. I threw most of it away. I would definitely never order this again which is a shame because it used to be so good. Also while it looked like the service was good - meaning timely and efficient, but it was not friendly. No one in there was smiling. At all. Hmmm. I will probably go back, but won't order the shrimp pasta. Their fried foods are usually very good. The prices are still reasonable. But it costs a lot to eat out now, and a meal less than very good is a big disappointment.

Brenda C.

Yelp
Ordered meatballs ( notice the plural is used) and pasta. The picture showed what appeared to be 2 large meatballs on a bed of pasta. The reality is there is only one meatball, cut in half. The taste was fine, but I found this deceptive. Also, I opted for potato salad instead of a vegetable, and was served about a tablespoon of potato salad. I did not expect a large portion since this was a "side", but this was very surprising.

Andrea T.

Yelp
Service excellent. Food is delicious and consistent. True New Orleans cuisine. Homemade salad dressings.

Cc D.

Yelp
We had the best stuffed speckled trout at Fury's. The homemade salad dressings were top notch and the new renovations look great! Friendly staff and very good wine. Adding this restaurant to our favorites list

Louis L.

Yelp
There were eight adults in our party, and there was not one single complaint on the quality and quantity of the food. Service was efficient and all courses were sure in a timely manner. This is a hidden Jewel in Metairie and come to this restaurant and be amazed. You will not go away disappointed. The entire restaurant has been refurbished and looks absolutely amazing.Baked Fish

Michael B.

Yelp
Always a home cooked meal style. Aged, but quaint and always friendly restaurant. Tasty menu of favorites. There's something on the menu for everyone! A local favorite of the baby boomers! I enjoy eating at Fury's.

Janet W.

Yelp
This is a jewel of a restaurant that might go unnoticed. We had some extra time which allowed us to sample a great deal of the menu. Not knowing what to expect, we were definitely impressed. The gumbo, seafood platter, flounder, red velvet cake and chocolate mousse were so good. The service was especially good. Jacob was attentive and prompt. Paul was extremely helpful with our questions about the choices and excelled at offering help with all of our questions about local information. You will not be disappointed.

EM E.

Yelp
Wow SO BAD!!! How do they even have the same name as the original restaurant? Must be under new ownership. Food was bad, but service was atrocious. Stale garlic bread, nasty meatballs, an awful, gluey gumbo using tiny bay shrimp. The food was so disgusting we didn't finish. Other tables seemed to be having a wretched experience as well. People literally got up and left. Dirty tables everywhere. Horrid waitress yelling across the restaurant, ignoring people, slamming food down on tables. Nasty!

Tim M.

Yelp
Excellent daily lunch specials. Was visiting my hometown and had to find red beans and rice on.Monday, right. RbR with choice of several side sausages - I had the hot and it was good. Excellent portion and price. Family spot, I'd go back!

Ray S.

Yelp
Awesome Valentine's Day lunch. Food was very good. Service was top notch, never an empty glass. They checked on us through out the meal. Love the feel of the restaurant.

Bobby A.

Yelp
Service without standing in the foods delicious and the staff was outstanding great help

Wynona A.

Yelp
Our server Burger deserves 5 stars for his customer service, I would definitely come back for the service and food. The crab remoulade appetizer was so refreshing and was loaded with fresh Louisiana crabmeat. The flounder Carrie was delicious and perfectly fried. The eggplant parmesean was the best I've had so far in the city. Everything was delicious, but the best thing we had was the veal Metairie (a Saturday special). We also had to try the bread pudding, which we are very picky about, we finished every bite of it.

Cindy H.

Yelp
We arrived for a late lunch. Our family has been here many times over the years, but not recently. Very disappointed. I ordered eggplant parmigiana and my fiend had chicken parmigiana. After we ordered and before we got our food we had to ask the waitstaff to wipe the table off. It had what looked like previously spilled, but now dried beverages. We then noticed all but one table were still unclean. The floor was a mess too. When our food arrived, the thumb of the person that delivered the food was in my salad, and then again in the sauce of the plate. Gross. We won't be back.

Jim R.

Yelp
Had a great meal Friday night. Restaurant was neat, clean and renovated. The seafood platter was perfect. Fried crispy, tasty and tender. Service was excellent and the staff was extremely friendly. We will be back real soon.

Catherine G.

Yelp
I recently ate at Fury's Restaurant. The food was delicious! Must try dishes...onion rings, gumbo, Trout Carrie. Can't wait to go back to try other things on their menu.

Ted B.

Yelp
Very good meal. Everything from the crab salad to the frog legs were great. A true hidden gem in Metairie.

Carolyn F.

Yelp
Food was ok. Service was horrible Asked lemons never receive . Flounder was ok for $30 no veggie It's not the Fury's I remember. Also had flies around us .

Camille D.

Yelp
We started eating here a few months ago and the food was fairly good, however it seems that a different cook is in the kitchen. Not so good, the angel hair pasta is featured as the pasta for many dishes, but the kitchen is out of it. But instead of informing the customers that they are out of angel hair pasta, they substitute spaghetti (not even close in size) The spaghetti I was served was room temperature and partially hard and dried from exposure to air. I was informed by the wait staff that it is cooked in the morning, I am guessing by the texture, appearance and temperature it sits in a large colander on the counter. But the worst part is when I informed the server about the pasta I was told that everyone else was eating it. The server reluctantly took it back but seemed exasperated because I wasn't eating it like everyone else. The next time we went there I specifically asked if they had Angel hair pasta and was told yes. But I was served spaghetti, which was in the same condition as described above. The side dish of vegetables is always room temperature, most times overcooked and mushy. We decided that we were disappointed in the food and would not eat there for a while. Very annoying to complain about the food almost every time. P.S. The lady sitting at the next table told the server to tell the cook the potato salad was sour.

Stephen V.

Yelp
A great day in Metairie! A classic is back - and even better. Started with the best version of crawfish bread! A huge portion covered with cheese and crawfish. Then the Trout Carrie: fresh speckled trout smothered with jumbo lump crabmeat. Fantastic! Their house Old Fashioned was amazing! My wife had the broiled seafood platter. Delicious and huge portions. Sides of broccoli casserole and fried sweet potatoes were classics and resulted in a to go box and a promise to order the special bread pudding next week! Ha! Great service by a dedicated family team. Welcome back!

Melissa D.

Yelp
Food is wonderful. Family and friends atmosphere. Jessica and Bryon always give great service.

Louis V.

Yelp
Outstanding fresh food and Outstanding customer service. This is where us locals love to eat.

David N.

Yelp
We stopped at this place due to it being on a list for best red beans and rice on Mondays. The best summation of this restaurant is that it may have once been good, but has since faded into a state of filth. Physically the building is in need of TLC. Areas such as the bathroom did not appear to have been cleaned in some time and were gross. The food, was so so. My red beans and rice were rather pedestrian and seemed more like a ham and beans dish. The fried fish, however, was lightly breaded and fries just right. I read that the restaurant has new owners so I hope that they can revamp this place.

Dustin A.

Yelp
Fury's is an amazing old school Italian restaurant. There are choices of food and you will leave satisfied. They have the best salad dressings in the world and I could eat here every day of the week and never get tired of the food. The Monday special red beans and rice is the beet in town!

Colleen P.

Yelp
The place looks amazing after they fixed the place up! There is fresh linen on every table, wall and ceiling lighting, and they even place some light jazz in the background. Very cozy and professional. The food is still amazing and the staff were super friendly as always. I can't wait to go back

Jerry S.

Yelp
Service was excellent. Food was ok. Not great and not bad. I had meatballs and spaghetti. The portion was large, meatballs were tender but I felt there was a little too much bread in the meatball. It was like the meatball was just too squishy. All in all it was an ok experience. I had to check this place out because so many had recommended it. I guess my taste for Italian food is just a little different.

Kathy G.

Yelp
eggplant parmigiana was good, however the fried catfish plate was very disappointing.

Marion H.

Yelp
New owners same delicious food! Renovations are delightful! Service spot on as usual.

John S.

Yelp
Authentic New Orleans food. While many restaurants feel the need to "innovate" or "improve" their dishes, Fury's puts out traditional food that made New Orleans food famous. Don't expect a fancy, white tablecloth kind of place. This is just a traditional local family restaurant.

Peggy B.

Yelp
We went to Furys Restaurant for lunch today. We were a party of four. We all had a cup of gumbo which was very good. My husband & I had the lunch special fried fish with a crawfish sauce which we enjoyed very much. You also get a salad & vegetable of the day. The others in our party had the soft shell crab and they enjoyed their lunch as well. The waitress was very friendly. The inside has be renovated. It's nice & bright with some pretty wall sconces. We definitely plan to return to Furys.

Shannon B.

Yelp
Great experience. Delicious food. Great service. Busy neighborhood family restaurant. We recommend!

Kelvin R.

Yelp
Amazing assortment of menu options. Our first but not last visit. Enjoyed the Veal Metairie and Stuffed Bell Peppers. The venue is under site improvements yet it's seamless to the dining experience.
