An Essential Guide to Eating Your Way Through Alberta | Eater

"Duck into an old Edmonton repair shop, wander past piles of broken electronics and other ephemera, then swing open a vending machine to enter Fu’s Repair Shop. First and foremost, you’re here for the drinks. They’re quirky and creative — negronis are seasoned with Chinese five spice, martinis are infused with umami, and crisp lagers are topped with an icy soju slushie. Once you have a drink in hand, dig into the dim sum menu, which is full of highly snackable plates like fluffy milk buns with miso-gochujang butter, brown butter–slicked cheung fun, and siu mai topped with a crunch of truffle sesame and chicharrones. If you have the foresight, make a reservation — the line crawls further down the block as the evening goes on. For travelers looking for a nightcap, the bar is a quick walk from The Fairmont Hotel Macdonald, which offers historical rooms in a century-old building." - Kate Dingwall

Definitely on the pricier side but really good food and cocktails. Liked everything we order except for the fried rice (wasn't what we expected and wasn't to our tastes). Highly recommend the Bo Luc Lac Siu Mai and the Arancini. It is pretty loud in there as they are playing music and a lot of people chatting as well. Was playing Spirited Away on the projector when we were there.

Fu’s Repair Shop has a really cool vibe and fun décor, definitely a trendy spot in Edmonton. The staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was lively, but honestly, the prices were pretty steep. Both the dim sum and appetizers were way overpriced for the portion sizes, and even the cocktails were quite expensive compared to other bars in the city. The presentation was nice, but the value just wasn’t there. If you’re going mainly for the look and the experience, it’s worth checking out once. But if you’re looking for good food and drinks at a fair price, there are better options in town.

We came here on a Saturday night and made it just in time for food orders. We were a bit hesitant to order because the menu had no photos and it was difficult to follow because some foods had Chinese names and not very elaborate descriptions. We ordered most of the things off the late night menu and let me tell you... It did not disappoint! Literally every single thing we ordered was spot on and delicious! The flavours were perfect and we were so impressed with the quality. The prices were a bit high for what we got but honestly, it was worth the splurge to try what we had. The pork and shrimp dim sum was unreal with the truffle and flakes. My favorite I think was the noodle dish; had a nice sweet and spicy kick. The fried rice with shrimp was also a killer!! Unexpectedly the cheapest item, chive pancakes ($6) were surprisingly amazing and super savoury. I definitely recommend to come here for a late night drink and munch. Also as a bonus, beautiful interior and spotless bathrooms. Very chic and will be back next time when in Edmonton! Thank you for having us!

We liked the food, drinks, and atmosphere, though the portions were rather small for the price. Our waitress seemed intent on ignoring us for the most part which we weren’t very appreciative of but there were some other servers who were able to refill water and answer questions. The music was also a little loud for a restaurant. Overall, I think it was cool, mostly for the atmosphere, but not amazing.

I had a delightful dining experience here. The restaurant offers an authentic Asian atmosphere, from the décor and anime playing in the background to the thoughtfully curated drink menu and flavorful dishes. Everything came together beautifully, and I truly enjoyed my visit.

Got the beef and broccolini-ish and the tuna and beet crudo. Both were super flavourful and would get again. My sis got the Mr.Chen’s beef noodle bowl and it wasn’t as flavourful as expected. “Tasted like beef stew”-sis

What a cool place to dine in! Decor and vibe are 5 stars. Food was deserving of a 4. Bao gochujang appetizer was so delicious and the dumplings too. Chow fan fried rice we ordered with braised beef was spicier than I thought but the Peachy shrimp was delicious. I wouldn’t order the man Tao dessert again, disappointing in flavour. Sachi, our server, was great!! Must try this place

Made a quick stop for apps and drinks. Decent food and drinks. Ordered the truffle siu mai and soup dumplings. Unfortunately one of the dumplings lost all of it's soup 🥲 Feels a bit overpriced though.
