G Boutique Hotel

Charming, clean, and friendly. I was hesitant when picking this hotel due to reading harsh reviews. However, I knew I wanted to stay on Lake Izabal, and knew I wanted a comfortable stay with luxury amenities. G Boutique delivered all of that. The grounds of the hotel were impeccably clean, sheets, beds, towels pristine. The breakfast menu is standard like all high end places in Guatemala, dinner menu more extensive. Everything we had on the menu was delicious, beautifully presented. Val, the manager of the establishment was helpful arranging private transportation to Flores & accommodated us with all our requests. If you are looking for a quiet retreat around Lake Izabal this is it. If you are looking for a single night hotel stay to be close to Rio Dulce area & Livingston, you are a little off the grid. I did suggest the resort adding a shuttle into the Rio Dulce docks for the guests not to feel stranded an hour away from day tours. I hope they consider it because it was one of my best stays throughout the country. Thumbs up G Boutique.

Stayed at the G last month. . . If you are looking for a true boutique experience, peace and quiet in a luxury safe environment, or looking for something new and different, this is the place to go. . . We went during the end of low season mid week one night and had some extra vacation days on hand with no reservations. . . We liked it so much that we stayed a second night. . . Impeccable beautiful grounds (some of the best I have seen in Guatemala) think topiary, rose garden and bird of paradise. . . Amazing accommodating polite and friendly staff. . . infinity pool and jacuzzi. . . lakeside dining and bar (we ate here every meal for two days and nights and the service and food was fantastic). . . rooftop gym with views of lake, surrounding, area, and Marisicos. . . Rooms were modern, tastefully decorated clean, and very comfortable along with very good bathroom amenities. . . very safe and secure. . . town of Mariscos right outside resort gate very walkable, safe , friendly people, couple of other hotels and restaurants in this town. . . Don't pass this one up, it is a definite diamond in the rough!

A beautiful lakefront hotel, well kept and the staff is friendly and helpful. The place is very secure. The food was good. We rented a boat from the hotel with a guide and navigated the Izabal lake and Rio Dulce. Visited the San Felipe Palace, the thermal waters, and Livingston. A very nice experience. Also in this trip we had a chance to visit a school started by a US citizen who visited the area 20 plus years ago and it is currently supported by Rotary Clubs from District 5440. An excellent project.

I would give it a 5 star because the place is amazingly beautiful but the rules of the rooms are a little too much. They have rooms with 2 queen beds but the rule is that only 2 adults can stay in the room with 2 kids. I mean the beds are the same so why can’t 4 adults stay if the beds are the same size. I was very upset by this rule and its crazy that a strange man was standing up by my room door (the security guy) I understand they need to take good care of the place and make it secure but my family and I felt insecure when we saw this man by our door. The staying at this place included breakfast and when we went to checked out, they didn’t even offer us the breakfast. Anyways good looking place but I don’t agree with their rules of the rooms.

Overall, the property is very well kept and very modern. The scenery directly on the lake is very beautiful, but we did not appreciate the fact that they keep you behind locked gates and a wall (presumably because they mainly cater to rich Guatemalans who - think they - need "protection" from the poor population outside the hotel...). The food at the restaurant however was excellent, the service very friendly but clearly not very skilled (for the level of luxury they want to offer at the hotel). There is nothing to do nearby and all activities offered by the hotel are outrageously expensive. This was our last stop in Guatemala, so we had a pretty good feeling for level of prices for services offered and anything we were quoted here was just ridiculous. They also seem to control the services offered by others in the little village, as we tried to organize a boat trip ourselves with one of the locals and he told us he could not offer a different price than what the hotel had quoted us. On top of everything, upon check out they would have overcharged us if I hadn't thoroughly checked the bill. All in all, it was a positive stay, but I don't think we would choose to go there again. It was way too artificial for our taste and compared to anything else we experienced in Guatemala.

This is the first time I’m writing (part of) a review while we don’t even have seen our rooms! That we arrived before check-in hour was our ‘problem’, but the uninterested receipt wasn’t. We ended up at the waterfront restaurant/bar. 45 minutes after giving our lunch order not even the bottle of water had arrived. Menu looked like one of a (cheap) hamburger place: totally uninspiring. One sandwich and one drink weren't available. Food (sandwiches) were on the table after 50 minutes and far from appealing and appetizing. Drinks, with exception of the ordered cappuccino, were served after we’d finished our plates. Coffee's still lacking though... Excuse: no electricity ... ??? but where on earth does that horrible loud music come from and how come we'd WiFi?! After the coffee finally arrived the bottle of water was still lacking! Our knowledge of the Spanish language is far from perfect, but more than sufficient to order food and drinks.||||Impression: overpriced hotel because of location alongside the lake (we pay more than EUR 600 for 2 rooms for 2 nights; breakfast excluded) and most certainly cannot be considered a boutique hotel! And I’d promised my family a relaxing 1.5 days after touring beautiful Guatemala.||||In the meantime we got our (large and clean) rooms. Sink is positioned awkwardly next to the entrance door to the room (so not in the bathroom), hard to read at night because of weird position bed lamps, no tissues and only one role of toilet paper in the room. No comfy chairs nor sofa in the room. Bedding looks and is nice, as holds for the decorations.||||Management, please take measures so you can truly call your hotel a boutique hotel. Right now it’s far from it and we feel cheated.

We highly recommend this hotel for the wonderful friendly helpful attitude of its staff, and for the beautiful rooms. We were upgraded on arrival, and could not find fault with anything. Thank you! There is a spa, and a dining room room set out on stilts over the beautiful lake. You feel you are floating.

We enjoyed a master suite with view on the lake Izabal. The room was clean, had good ac and a great bathroom. The restaurant sits half on the lake, nice view. The restaurant was okay, international food. Team was kind.
